This book made me laugh. I loved the characters. It was fun to read and very refreshing. The reason it lost half a star was because they talk too much in the bedroom. Seriously, if a guy asked/told me if something was sexy WHILE things were happening (as in not teasing or complimenting, but "yeah, that's sexy baby, keep doing that"), it would totally throw me off. And they keep using that over and over and over. Everything else was fine. Just that one word kept ruining otherwise perfectly good scenes!

I have been reading Lora Leigh for awhile. I was excited when I read that she was continueing her Breed series with Berkley. This was a good book with her typical alpha male and spunky heroine. I am glad to see that she will have another release in this series in December. If this is the first you have heard of Ms. Leigh please go to her website and learn about the rest of this series which starts with 'Tempting the Beast'.

Ok, I am not going to go into a rendition of the story, that has already been done. I was a little disappointed in this book, it was not one of Lora Leighs best breed books, but it still gets 5 stars for an amazing story. I thought the alpha female business was too much, Megan was too domineering. Overall I do recommend this book and I will be checking out the rest of this series.

I couldn't put this book down! As a big fan of the Breeds I was eager for Megan's Mark to hit the shelves. And I was NOT disappointed! I would rate this as the best Breed book so far! The interaction between Megan and Braden made me laugh, sigh and squirm. I wish I were as smart and sexy as Megan and I won't even tell you what I'd do for a night with Braden. *drool*
Lots of adventure and suspense, plenty of romance and sex hot enough to cause a meltdown, Megan's Mark is a TERRIFIC read!

Awful writing and awful editing!!!...How many times can you repeat the same descriptions over and over and over again...I couldnt even finish the book, then brought back the other 2 breed series I bought and got books from an author that I like. Im sorry Im not trying so sound mean but when every other paragraph is repeating over and over, the same discription, it became extremly boring.."hes been alone inside himself"..."she felt the burning lust inside herself"..."Tears where building inside her eyes"..CORNEY..Renegade was the first book I read of hers, and It was the same..same discriptions over and over, like a cut & paste, nothing original. Its just awful!..Im sry but Im done with Lora Leighs writing..Its just not for me!!

I thought it was a fun read. Alot of sex--which you should expect in a Lora Leigh novel. There was a definite plot. Someone is trying to kill Megan for what reason we don't know. Braden is sent to find out how she is involved with Breed afairs. I liked the Braden character. I found him charming up until he starts getting overbearing with Megan, then he became annoying. I look forward to reading more.

This book is not good. There is almost no plot development at all and the same descriptors are used over and over again. It's more erotica and less romance. I felt like the editor was snoozing when this was put on his/her desk. Really, really awful.

The best thing about good erotic fiction is when you've read the last page & look over at your significant other with hunger & a little twinkle in your eye. This book & pretty much all of the Breed books that I've read so far, can definitely help you work up a....snack. Sure, the plot is really out there, but that's okay because the sex (really intense, fully descriptive with raunchy dialogue included) makes up for it. And since the best sex is attached to strong emotions, this author is a true craftswoman. I love that the female is strong & independant, not another wimp waiting to be rescued. I always that that erotic fiction was very personal, but I have shared this book with most of my friends & they all loved it enough to buy their own copy.

Megan's Mark was a good book with interesting charactors. Yes, they got a little annoying. But the world she is creating with these stories is great and I can overlook some flaws. Be warned, the sex is GRAPHIC, if that bothers you in a story, do not read this book or any of lora leigh's stories for that matter, but if it doesn't, then check out the other breed stories, see how the breed world is evolving with each story. Not all the stories are equally good, but they are all fascinating. One reviewer stated that this was the best of the breed books so far and I would have to disagree, Elizabeth's Wolf was by far the best story in the series, possibly the best book she has written. Just my opinion.

This is the first book I've read in Breed Series and it was just o.k. I did'nt love or hate Megan or Braden for that matter. The sex scenes were decent if not repetitive. Towards the end, I didn't even care if the characters lived or died. On to the next...hopefully better.

I love a good, steamy and sexually explicit book - and I am new to the paranormal romance world...but I really enjoyed this book. I like the relationship the two main characters and I liked the way the book ended with the promise of more...
I would def read more on this series.

The cover of this book grabbed my attention, but the story kept me glued. The concept of genetic engineering is a fascinting one and the savage qualities in Braden had me shivering. Braden is sexy, arrogant and demanding, which makes him a keeper in my eyes. No spineless, wimpy heroes for me!! And Megan is no pushover. She holds her own with Braden and shows a strength that had me cheering her on. Great book! Simply great!

I liked the first three Feline Breeds books and I am totally invested in the story line but this was poorly written. I would have preferred getting the relevant Genetic Council information in like a short story memo thing because the rest of this was so-so at best.

I'm sure this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I really felt like this book was only so-so. I've absolutely loved some of Lora Leigh's stories (the first few books in the Breeds series were fantastic), but there were SO many characterization problems, poor dialogue and.. well, things that made little sense. Such as, why would an empath hiding out in the middle of nowhere spend all of her money on high tech weapons? Oh, and the 'pet names' Megan had for Braden were annoying and lame (purr-boy etc). Braden was the most interesting thing in this story to me, and even he fell into the now familiar Breed stereotype with very little variation. Even the love scenes - which used to be absolutely sizzling in Leigh's stories - are lacking any kind of chemistry beyond the animalistic, or feeling. It seems to be stripped down to the raunchy mechanics of it, using familiar language and situations etc.
I really hope that the author finds a way to inject new life into this series, because the first in the series were that good. *sigh*

Megan's Mark is a typical Leigh novel. Breed male finds his mate, she resists the bonding but cannot help herself. Male feels the need to dominate, etc. I didn't enjoy the romance so much in this story as I found Megan to be quite annoying. I did find the political aspects of the Breeds interesting.

No, its not a romance. Its not fluffy at all. Its hard and its hot. But its an awesome book. Never read this author and I really should have read some of the other books in the Breed series before I started here. You dont HAVE to read others, but you can tell there is a lot of info you dont have. It would have just made the story better. But ya, its hard core, and hot.

I've read all of the Breed books and I have enjoyed them all. Anyone complaining about the lack of plot and the explicit capture/bondage like sex scenes must not have realized what they were buying. Both lead characters are attracted to each other and there is no forced sexual tension. The chemical reaction can only happen with the person that is supposed to be the breed's mate. With that said, I liked Meghan's Mark, but I would have liked some closure from Aiden's Charity. I will, however, continue to read Lora Leigh's work.

To date...Lora Leigh has not written anything that I think stinks she could write for the back of a cereal box and I would buy it...love her breed books just waiting for the story of brimstone and dr. armani...that is a story i could sink my teeth into.

Being a fan of Lora Leigh's breeds, I anxiously awaited the release of Megan's Mark. I can honestly say that I was not disappointed. Lora has woven an erotic, suspensful tale that kept me enthralled from beginning to end. I adored it.

I'll start this review with a disclaimer. I'm not a fan of erotica, though I do love paranormal romances. My issue with erotica is not that the sex turns me off, but because it tends to swamp the storyline, and everything is about how to drive the plot from one sex scene to the next. For those who love that sort of thing, then I'm sure you'll like Megan's Mark. I had to stifle an urge to throw the book against the wall four chapters in.
I had to give the book two stars, and not one, because I did find the concept of the Breeds interesting as well as the political problems surrounding them. And Lora Leigh does write well, so I must give her credit there.
However... Braden crossed the line from strong alpha-male to domineering jerk within a few pages of his appearance and it never let up. And Megan was one of those heroines so determined to prove she's tough that she takes stupid risks and in just generally b*tchy. She, of course, instantly hate Braden (a sentiment I could identify with), but her body kept 'betraying' her with hot lusty flashes.
One of the plot devices that I really can't stand is when external forces REQUIRE the main characters to have sex. There is no choice on their part. They have to get down and dirty because otherwise they'll go insane, die...whatever. LL used this plot device, and it was the final straw in a book that was already laboring with an irritating hero and heroine.
On the plus side, the sex is very hot. So if that's your highest priority for a book then Megan's Mark delivers on that score. But if you like to see your characters develop a real caring relationship which revolves around something more than sex, you might want to give this one a miss.

The plot of the book was rather intriguing, but the character's reactions were rather on the unbelievable side. If you are going to have a romance flavor, I would like to read the romance, not he bites her and she just can't resist him because of some weird hormone that he injected in her. Not to mention, I'm really not big on the strong-willed woman gets "seduced" into turning into a floppy, hormone stiken love slave, just because of a good set of abs, and a big...

Lora Leigh's book is definitely not for the faint of heart. I too have read all of her books and they only get better. Ms. Leigh takes paranormal romance to a new level. This is a must read. If you haven't read any of Ms. Leigh's previous books, I recommend them all.

I will start out by saying that this is the first Lora Leigh book I have ever read. There were problems with the book for me.
This story takes place in the year 2023. The ages of these characters are 25+ years old. This means that the "Breed" DNA experiments took place in the 1990-2000 time frame. This just doesn't work. We are barely experimenting with cloning let alone hybreeding animal and human DNA.
The "erotic" language in this book belongs in the trash. I have been reading romance books for over 25 years and I have not yet read a book where the heroine referrs to her core by something she should call her cat on such a routine basis. That talk is fine when you are trying to establish a trashy scene or where you want crude talk among men. But, having the female talk about herself that way was just too crude to me. The mating scenes however did show some inginuity of thought.
On the other hand, the "Breed" theme showed a lot of promise and for that alone I will give this author another try.

This was the first Lora Leigh book that I read and prompted me to start buying, and keeping, her books. Fast paced, very sexy and romantic. I find the concept of Lora Leigh's Breeds fascinating. It's a keeper!

I am very tired of reading "romance" books where abuse is called love and rape is called passion. The heroine says "no" repeatedly but the hero continues to sneer at her wishes, he's amused and disrespecful. There is a long scene where his goal is to break her and force her into submission. I was sickened by his sexual torture.
The so-called erotic language is dreadful. The words are crude and the sex lacks imagination.
Every man in the heroine's life worked very hard to make all her decisions for her although she did try to fight back and be her own person. It just felt like her charater was crushed under all the men in her world.
I won't be loaning this book to my friends. There are some interesting ideas in this book and had the hero been a little likeable and had the heroine not been a vicitim it might have been an enoyable read.

To be fair the cover of this book advertises it as "...paranormal passion" not a love story and they got that right! This is a rough edged book about genetically engineered superhumans/animal "Breeds" and a poor, unsuspecting female who gets caught in the DNA crossfire and apparently, loses her free will in the process. As a result the sensuality is intense, almost vaguely unpleasant because the female lead doesn't REALLY want the dominating male lead's attention but is compelled by biologic changes. I felt sorry for her and this created an overall negative sheen on the book. Capable writer, but a little mean spirited.

I have recently started doing reviews because I realize how imporatnt they are in my decision making. With that in mind I wanted to give a quick warning. If you love hot sex scenes and virtually no plot, this book is for you. I am not a lover of erotica but I do read it occasionally and in my opinion, this book was subpar as a mainstream attempt. Do not get me wrong, I had read Ms. Leigh's other erotica concerning the breeds and the concept is very good. I thought that it would be a good device to sedgeway erotica and romantic suspense. It did not happen. Braden is bothersome. The heroine is not much better. As far as using the ploy that they must have sex or die, Leigh could have altered that. Kept the urge but killed the need. For erotica fans, this may be a good read. There is a little meat on the bone. But for fans of romantic suspense that are used to great and compelling stories sprinkled with great love scenes that actually have a purpose....this may not be for you

To begin, I'd like to mention that I didn't finish the book. I got about a third way through, and put it down in disgust. To me, this was a poorly written paranormal porn. I mean come on, shouldn't there be some kind of a unique story? Something that differentiates this book for the rest in its genre? Unfortunately the only thing that stood out for me was the uncanny resemblance to bad porn. I leafed through the rest of the book after I decided that I wasn't going to finish it, and everywhere I looked either the heroine was really hot for the breed guy or there were the descriptive scenes of their various encounters. Not much room for the actual story.
It's my personal opinion of course, but I really don't get all the praise that people seem to have for this book. I just want my $6.99 back :(

This book is OK. I'll probably read the series. However, I'll get all the books via the library... the book isn't worthy of purchasing because I don't feel I'll read it again.
Also, FYI, it is extremely graphic on the sex, so if you are not into that kind of book, I would suggest not reading it at all. This book should have been listed as erotica due to content, not romance. I personally have no problem with erotica; it just caught me off guard because I thought I had picked up a sci-fi romance...

I don't know what I expected, but I didn't get it. This novel has almost completely unexplained genetics and it needs more since the entire series hinges on us believing the genetics are possible. I really don't believe the characters since the author doesn't take the trouble to develop them. She fails to explore Megan's psionic ability enough for us to care about why she's had to flee. Nor do we have an explanation of the villain's motives. The plot seems to be a framework for some mediocre to okay erotica. I'm slightly offended by the assumption that pheromones and hormones are all it takes to create a true mate for a human (and I include the Breeds). These people don't know each other from Adam's off-ox but we're supposed to believe that they're mated for life--just because lions do. Argh! That makes the Breed the animals their detractors claim they are and reduces their genetically human lovers/mates to the same level.
I hope that if Leigh continues the story, we learn more about her characters and that she treats them more as feeling and thinking people.
I'll sample the second one and if it's as underdeveloped as this one, I'm through.

Wow - I have to say I was shocked. I don't mind a sex scene - but the words she uses for shock value are over the top - and it is dedicated to her mother and father - who read all her work? Wow - what kind of a trashy family does she come from!
