Clint Hill's "Five Presidents" took me back through history. I grew up during this time period and remember the events as they occurred, but his book exposed details and background that I didn't know or had forgotten.

Some give their all, Clint Hill was was one of them. Dedicated protective service to 5 U.S. presidents and their families. Interesting first family tidbits woven throughout the story. A good read. Don't miss it.

I thought this was a well written nonfictional book on the five presidents.I have many books on each of the presidents and felt Agent Clint did an excellent job giving his over view of the situations that he faced with each one of them. His summary of the Watergate was very well done. I'm about to read of his experiences with Mrs Kennedy.

Great history book with heartfelt writing from a man who served his country so honorably. I especially loved the parts about Jackie Kennedy and LBJ, who was a political beast but down to earth and funny. I laughed out loud at the ranch stories. The end of this book describes the interview Clint Hill had with Mike Wallace and it made me cry. I really enjoyed the narrator, too, which is a HUGE part of my liking a book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes political history. I would have liked to known more about Mr. Hill's family...his wife and sons.

Great book! I didn't agree with some of the things Clint Hill had to say about President John F. Kennedy! Especially concerning the part where he claims Kennedy was the one to "order" the agents off of his car!!!
That has been proven to be a lie from the Secret Service!!! So there is no telling what else the Secret Service, CIA and FBI are lying about! We will never find out the truth! I feel like Clint Hill is trying to make big bucks off of the assassination of my beloved president!

It was a tad long-winded for me, personally. There's only so many times you can read about how many people were lining the streets of any given motorcade, and how much this or that president was loved, or how many times you had to jog beside the president's limo. Just seemed as though it went on,......and on........and on......

Interesting from a historical perspective but so much tedious detail bogs this book down significantly. At times read like a diary, got up, had breakfast, showered, shaved, etc.... I had a tough time sticking with it.

Another outstanding book by Clint Hill! As one who lived through the time period covered by the book, I was very interested and impressed with the stories that he shared. My husband prefers audio books; we are very disappointed that this book does not appear to be available as an audio book.

Was disappointed that Hill did not include some stories or anecdotes from his time with Mrs. Kennedy and instead wrote they could be found in the other book he wrote to try to get more sales. If I read a story or two I liked I might have bought the book, now I won't so as not to rewarded his schilling one book inside another.

i am a history buff and thought this would provide me with an inner understanding of a few Presidents, but it seems like 90% of the book focuses on how many trips he took and how tired he was. This would have been an interesting 5 page newspaper article, not a book

I never lost my interest for one moment in this book. I have often seen Clint interviewed and he is a very unpretentious and good man. He would be a fun guy to sit down and have a beer with. While I would have preferred to get a little more insight on his personal life ,he gives quite a good perspective of his relationships particularly to the Kennedy, Johnson, and Agnews. Clint was not a big fan of the moon roof!

This book was printed on very thin paper in paperback form. It arrived with several pages ripped including the cover. I can't fault either the store, nor the authors. The story is still of great interest to me and I would recommend the actual story to anyone interested in a first hand knowledge of public policy issues, but I would be more selective of the publishing company involved in the printing and distribution process.

I found the historical events interesting. I was a young child during the Eisenhower and Kennedy years, and didn't recall much from history in school. The book was repetitive at times, and I found the writing style choppy and bland.

I read Clint Hills book "Mrs. Kennedy and Me" and thought it was terrific. I wondered about his entire career because he was at the center of power for so many years.
"Five Presidents" is the book that tells the story, beginning with his assignment protecting Eisenhower, then Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford. It's "up close and personal" because he was right there. It's funny, heartbreaking, astonishing and also a great history lesson.
The anecdotes are fascinating. He tells about Christmas shopping in the middle of the night with LBJ in his pajamas; the heartbreaking moment he sees Mrs. Kennedy at Robert F. Kennedy's burial at Arlington Cemetery; Nixon going to the Lincoln Memorial for a bizarre pre-dawn encounter with anti-Vietnam war protesters; a visit from Elvis; traveling all over the world, beginning with Eisenhower, to places like Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan -- way back when those countries loved America and our President.
I loved this book!

This is basically a "My Life and Times" book from a secret service agent who is actually partisan to democrats which I find surprising. One would think LBJ literally walked on water when his crimes were bigger than Nixon's. No mention of his illegal corrupt activities including the USS Liberty incident, I guess some secret service agents obey the code of silence forever in spite of crimes commited. He's no Dan Bongino.

Pretty good read but his close was off base. He blames his character defects on the Kennedy assassination. Once a drunk always a drunk. Not many shocking revaluations as most people knew Carter was a jerk!

Exceptional as always from this team of authors. Mr. Hill has a memory we can all envy and every page is full of fascinating info from an ultra-rare perspective. Ms McCubbin is as reliable as ever - you can trust anything she works on to be stellar quality and meticulously detailed. Bravo on a fascinating winner of a book!
