This is another book about some woman amateur detective who feels compelled to stick her nose into a murder case dragging her friends along with her and for no apparent reason other than she must think she is smarter than law enforcement personnel. And of course there is the obligatory sort of romance with the policeman or sheriff or whatever. I knew right from the start who had to be the guilty parties. Take 3 of the most unpleasant people in town who are obviously dishonest and expect readers to believe that they are not mixed up in the killings. I think from now on I'm going to stick to men amateur detectives written by men because it will cut down on the amount of dumb bimbo amateur detectives I have to read about. NOTE: Look at books by M.C. Beaton if you want a good read.

This was a very entertaining fun mystery! Really liked Rachel and her 'no holding back' sleuthing. Julia and Holly are great sidekicks but Rachel is the main troublemaker with a heart of gold. She's a mystery writer so she has a lot of imagination to fall back on. With 2 murders that she knows are connected and a great cast of suspects she goes all out to help her friends and the police chief (even though he doesn't want the help of course) by being a real nosy body. The ending was hilarious and it was pretty tough in figuring out who the murderer was. Sure look forward to the rest of the books! Super clean for those who like to know.

I loved this cosy mystery. It kept me gripped to the very end, which is not unusual with this author. I'm a big fan of Karin Kaufman's books.
The story is set in the pretty town of Juniper Grove. It sounded wonderfully quaint. Add a murder or two to the mix and you have a recipe for success.
The main character Rachael has not lived in the town very long, she left the city to pursue her writing career. It's not long before she finds herself embroiled in mystery and mayhem along with her friends Holly the local baker and her next door neighbour Julia.
The story hots up when Julia's missing husband is found dead in Rachael's garden. Rachael being a mystery writer and amateur sleuth investigates, helped by her two friends. As she delves, she soon realises she could be in danger herself.
This is a great story with convincing and likeable characters.
I'm thrilled that Death of a Dead Man is the first in a series.
A great book to take on holiday and relax by the pool with. Well, maybe relax isn't quite the right word. As the story has a wonderful tension.
This is a book I recommend.

This was my first book by this author and at first I was a bit hesitant to try the story because it was shorter in length than the typical cozy mystery that I read. That is always a concern for me when I look at the page length of a book. Unless it's a novella that is part of an established series, many times I find that the author doesn't have enough time to properly develop the story, characters and mystery. That was not the case here. I didn't find that the shortened page length impacted the author's ability to develop the characters and lay out a well crafted mystery.
Rachel is a personable character that i liked right from the beginning of the book along with her two friends, Julia and Holly. These three women diverse in ages and stages of life. Together they make a delightful trio that play off one another nicely. The mystery was well done and woven nicely throughout the story. There were plenty of clues scattered throughout as well, along with some nicely done twists and turns. I did not guess the motive of the killer but did have this person on my lists of possible suspects.

If you like cozy mysteries, look no further. Karin Kaufman has written one that is sure to please every fan of the genre. I was guessing until the end! Never did figure out the culprit!
Populated by very nice characters, well, most of them, after all, there are some bad guys, Death of a Dead Man is a great little mystery set in a quite nice little Colorado town that had me wishing I could visit. Highly recommended
* I was given a complimentary copy of this book. My opinion is my own and honest.

I found a new author! I really liked this book and stayed up late at night and finished it. There are great characters in this book, and while they are totally different, they all mesh well. I didn't know who the killer was until the end. I like it when an author states that it is a clean read - no foul language, sex, or gory scenes. A perfect cozy. I wish more authors would do it; it would save me wasting my time having to read through a lot of reviews to find out if it is clean or not. Can't wait to read the next book.

Good read. A man declared dead turning up really dead on your back lawn besides a big hole is enough to worry anyone. But having a friend suspected of having killed him is enough to make you turn into a sleuth. Why did he come back? What happened when he disappeared? Why does everyone seem intent on driving the police Chief out? Good twists and turns but the real villain wasn't really a surprise. Guessed the identity quite quickly and that's why this has got a 4*. A bit more intrigue would habeas been welcome.

First, it's set in Colorado, yea! Second, this series is the perfect length for me. Over 300 pages I usually find too much filler that does not pertain to the mystery. In this book the characters are fleshed out enough but not too much. The process Rachel Stowe uses to uncover the facts and the perpetrator is easy to follow and interesting. I can't wait to start the second book, Death of a Scavenger.

If you enjoyed Karin Kaufman’s Anna Denning series, you won’t want to miss the Juniper Grove stories. Believe it or not, they’re even better. I fell in love with Juniper Grove, where murder stalks an otherwise Norman Rockwell-ish town, and can’t wait to see what’s next for intrepid author-turned-amateur-sleuth Rachel Stowe. Fortunately, the second book has already been released, so I don’t have to wait! If you’re looking for a cozy mystery to brighten up a gloomy day – or any day, for that matter – don’t miss Death of a Dead Man.

This is a great new cozy series! Rachel is new to Juniper Grove as a mystery writer she didn't image solving a real mystery. I enjoyed all the characters and Holly's sweets made me hungry. I look forward to the next one!

This was an interesting, well written mystery. I don't have time to write much of a review because I am going to go see what these interesting characters are up to in the next book right now! So I guess you could say I really liked this book!!

i enjoyed the way the author enabled the reader to follow the main character's thought process in solving the crime. She provided good character development and a strobg plot line. I can't wait to read more of her books!

Karin Kaufman's newest series "Death of a Dead man".... Juniper Grove is definitely a place I would like to live.
the protagonist Rachael along with her friends Julia and Holly are now the "Juniper Grove Gang", now has been born.Being a mystery writer helps Rachael put her thinking cap to help solve a case...... I am waiting with anticipation for Karin's next book in this series.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes cozy little mystery's.

Thank you for a really interesting mystery with no cursing or sex. It is truly refreshing. A pleasure to read. You wouldn’t believe how many mysteries I’ve had to scrap after becoming hooked on the story because of the two reasons listed above. Very frustrating!

Rachel, a writer, has to solve a puzzle to find out who killed a man she finds dead in her backyard. Julia is her neighbor and she is accused of the murder of her ex, the man in Rachel’s backyard. Julia tells Rachel that her ex was supposed to be dead seven years. The police warn Rachel to stay away from the case, but she wants to help her friend. There is a crooked government and a bad reporter all pushing false information to try to keep Rachel from finding out the truth or to discover the killer’s identity. This is a difficult and interesting mystery with great characters.
