Rias told Hawke" you're the only one I know who found his mate twice & Hawke responded "If Rissa lived, I would've been mated for years before I ever met Sienna"??wth?
Hawke still believes Rissa is his mate? This contradicts what he said In Kiss of Snow "it was easier to believe that my shot at mating died w Rissa than to risk that kind of pain again"( because they never mated, they were kids) Changelings only mate once!
Rias did not pursue his mate Lissete? But they never mated. Instead, he's w Adria who is not his mate? What is Singh doing?

I find Nalini Singh novels to be great entertainment. I enjoy the intermixing of stories and the continuation of characters you've already read about in other books in the series. Keep up the good writing!

I love the pay/Changeling books and this one was no exception. Although, I really wanted them to mate in the end. I do love that they found each other in such heartbreaking times, I was a little disappointed in the ending. But still a great read and a great link to the other books and the future. Can't wait for the next one!

Really enjoyed this book. This series is getting better. In this book we learn much more about
the strange Changling/Psy/Human world especially about the Psy.
A well paced novel with lots of twists to keep you guessing.
Loved it -would recommend reading this series in order because you will
understand the world of the stories in a deeper way. Look forward to the next one!!

Another well written and enjoyable story from N. Singh.
I enjoyed did. I really did.I give it 3 1/2 stars because...

...it felt more like an anthology or post-series extra story, then a single title.
The 'main' love story of Adria and Riaz didn't really get enough time/pages in my opinion. Too much of the book was spent rehashing all the other characters and how their lives are turning out within the story arc.

While I enjoyed the first few scenes with old characters I loved, half way through the book I realised I was rushing through those chapters to get to Adria/Riaz parts. I was getting a bit frustrated with the interruptions to their story and I believe that it also destroyed the flow of the book.

I admit that all the story lines from the last few books have come together in this one so this may have been the only way to go, but...i didn't like it. It didn't leave me with the usual happy sigh. It was almost - but not quite - disappointing.

Conclusion...
Nalini Singh can't (in my opinion) write a bad book, so I would recommend Tangle of Need to the fans of the series. That said, it was not one of her best within this series.

Tangle of Need was good but not great. I felt since Riaz and Adria couldn't share the mating bond it made them a lesser couple than all the other couples we read about in the previous books. Riaz was mated to Linsette, so he couldn't form the mating bond with Adria. It didn't make sense. I did love visiting Hawke and Sienna, Riley and Mercy and their great news. Will they have two cubs or two pups or one of each? I can't wait to find out!! Oh and I love the Hot Alpha Psy Males Aden Kaleb and Vasic, I really can't wait for them to find their mates and this time I hope they can form the mating bond. This is not a stand alone book. You will be totally loss if you read this book before you read the others in the series.

The worst book she has published! Bored me to pieces. So bad, that I couldn't finish it. I would not recommend this book to anyone. I don't think she had any idea what she wanted to write, and went with whatever she could come up with! No apparent true direction.

I was really excited about this book after Adria's character was introduced in Indigo's story......however....big let down.

Riaz returns home from Europe to lick his wounds after finding his mate happily married to someone else.
Adria has returned to the den after ending a toxic relationship that almost destroyed her.

The author just breezed through their relationship, and filled in with Hawke and Sienna, Mercy and Riley, and the Psy. I would be surprised if the main characters were in half the book.

The book ended with***spoiler alert***no mating bond. Even Brenna and Judd have a mating bond! The author didn't think this through. It was an insurmountable obstacle that she just swept under the rug. What makes it so bad is I loved the characters! I wished the author had as well.

I love Nalini Singh's work, and have read and re read every one of her Psy- Changeling books. I liked Tangle of Need, and Riaz and Adria, but I, like others had a hard time connecting to the characters. Around 2/3 of the way through, I finally felt like I was connecting with Adria and Riaz, There were a lot of side stories going on; interesting flashes into the lives of Hawke and Sienna and other couples, but I didn't really feel connected to Hawke and Sienna like I did in Kiss of Snow. I didn't really feel like these little scenes "felt" like Hawke and Sienna, they weren't really acting/ talking in the ways I had expected after the last book. I also felt like the book was a little confusing and disjointed. I don't know if it was bad editing in the Kindle edition, but I often would find myself reading a page, then having to re read a few specific paragraphs, and consciously figure out how they were related to each other. The book just didn't flow very well. All in all: good book, even though it was disappointing for me. I recommend it to Singh's fans, but if you're new to the Psy/Changeling world, I would start with a different book in the series.

I love this series, it's one of the best out there. But this particular book was not my favorite. I would have loved to see more of Raiz, and Adria. I loved these two as a couple book i wanted more. It great to see more of Hawke and Sienna too and how they are doing as a mated pair.

I skipped most of this book because honestly, I could. I read the first two chapters, saw where it was going and read the last thirty pages, and missed nothing. NOTHING. This, by far, was the worst book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I like that we get to read more about the couples from past books. These two weren't my favourite couple of this series but the book was still excellent. The ending was fantastic, I have been waiting for that happen. My only complaint is that she doesn't write faster .... I don't want to wait for the next book

I have been reading this series on and off, mostly off because it is way too confusing for me. I picked up this book that had been sitting on my shelf for a few years and started reading. I quickly remembered why I didn't like this series. I thought that Riaz and Adria were an interesting couple, but the fact they were not a mated couple ruined the story. Somewhere Riaz still has a true mate that can never be and Adria is not is true mate. Like a couple who settles for something less than true love.

I could not read the entire book. All I read were the parts that included Riaz and/or Adria. Singh tends to jump all over the place throwing in character after character, scene after scene and problem upon problems, so I could only get into the romance which had a decidedly blah resolution. I was hoping for more from them but I suppose considering Riaz could never have his true mate, was the best Singh could do.

I LOVE this series. I did not love this latest addition...for all the same reasons stated in other 3-star reviews: overly complicated, uneven pace, barely likable main couple, filler, etc. I put the book down many times and forced myself to pick it up and finish it out of loyalty to the author and a deep affection for the series. In the end, overalll, it was a significant disappointment.

Nalini Singh has written amazing stories before. This is not one of them. I call this book a filler. The hero/heroin's story did not make sense and did go against everything we learned about changeling. Moreover, I did not quite feel the connection between the two of them. It is as if they just wanted to convince themselves.
Just so that you know: I gave it 2 stars because Judd is so wonderful.

My Rating: 3.5 stars: Liked it - recommend (B+)

Much to my delight, for the third straight book, Ms. Singh focuses attention on the SnowDancer pack, a wolf-changeling pack that is one of the two powerhouses of the western US (the other is the DarkRiver Leopard pack). Tangle of Need opens a short time after the explosive (literally) conclusion of the previous book, Kiss of Snow. Two wolves that have been in the peripheral are now thrust into the spotlight. Riaz is a lone wolf, who has recently returned to the home den. Likewise, Adria has also recently return home after a failed relationship left her a bit broken. The two are both dominate wolves and have a tough time getting along. However, their fiery attraction cannot be denied!

Overall, Riaz and Adria have a wonderful Changeling courtship. Their volatile nature leaves them alternating between lust and frustration, desire and denial. Right from early on, their exchanges are smart and sensual, and always full of passion. At times there is so much sexual tension and simultaneously anger between them that I could feel the tension internally. I actually wanted to cower from the display of dominance. Ms. Singh understands these feelings so well and is a master at conveying it on the page.

Even with the excitement and fervor, I had a tough time connecting with Riaz and Adria and the story in general. There is a lot that is going on in this book. First - major sections of the story are focused on newly mated SnowDancer leader, Hawke and his dangerous X-Psy, Sienna. I enjoyed their story immensely (Kiss of Snow), but their "intrusion" into this book fell flat for me. I felt that there was too much attention on this couple that just had a whole book. And while some of the passages are interesting or sexy, several are not necessary for moving the overall plot forward, and reading them drained me. And while it is good "slice of life" story telling, I just didn't feel the heat between them like I did in the previous book. Several times I almost wanted to skip their sections and get on with the story.

Another factor that I felt kept me from connecting was the introduction (or re-introduction) of MANY new characters. There are so many new names and it was overwhelming trying to keep track of who is who (there is a handy glossary in the front of the book, though). Not only does the reader need to focus on several new SnowDancers, there is a new Changeling pack introduced, the Human Alliance rears its head again, and of course there are all of the Psy the reader must keep straight. In addition, there are a few times when the Changelings go over logistics for training, security, etc. and I felt completely lost.

I question the introduction of the water-based Changeling pack, BlackSea. They contacted SnowDancer to form an alliance. Meetings are conducted, and the reader is only mildly informed of the on-going situation. What really frustrated me is that in the end (of the negotiations), we are told the SnowDancers discovered the reasons why BlackSea reached out (after being secluded for a long time), but the reasons are never made clear to the reader. I felt this side-story wasn't well developed and gave the book almost a "transition" feel to it.

Although I had a difficult time connecting to the story, there are many gems within Tangle of Need. One side storyline involves my favorite couple, Mercy and Riley. Another is a short dialogue between the Psy twin sisters, Amara and Ashaya in which Amara questions her own mental stability. The scenes with Psy counselor Kaleb Krychek and the Psy Arrow squad are interesting, slightly revealing and leave you wanting to know so much more.

As the book progressed and Riaz and Adria move forward in their relationship, I did become more attached to the couple and story. But it did take over two-thirds of the book to get there. And even after you think that they are going to make it, both have to confront their past in order to move forward. I will admit, I was dreading that part of the book, but Ms. Singh's handling was nothing cliche or contrived.

After it was all said and done, I struggled a bit with the rating for this book. In the end, I liked it. Adria and Riaz are a great couple, and I love how hard he fights for her and them. I love the moment when she realizes her future is in her own hands. But it took a long time to get there. The book is filled with new characters, or peripheral ones that now have more book time. It is filled with a lot of political maneuvering. It is filled with a lot about Sienna and Hawke. There was a lot of jumping around, and I just couldn't focus and develop an attachment to the primary couple and story for a long time.

In the end I am giving Tangle of Need a B+. It is a good story and there is a lot of development in the Psy wars. I am excited to see what will happen next (especially with how the book ended!) Maybe in time, with a reread, I may bump to an A-, because after all, it is Psy/Changeling... I adore this series and really, there is never a bad story. The passion found in the wolf pack is sensual and although it took a while to find me, it was still there.

The long awaited war is triggered and things start to break open fast for all three races. Meanwhile, SnowDancer pack lieutenant Riaz and senior soldier Adria have their own private battle raging. Updates with Sienna and Hawke and Riley and Mercy bring a smile to the face. Epic things happen and that's why I adore this series and can't wait for the next book.

This book was a story of broad events taking turns with individual or couple events. So much is going on that I'd be hard pressed to share updates and avoid spoilers- though, not sure that's an issue as late to the game as I'm hitting these books. But I'll share a few.

The main story is Riaz and Adria's. Both have been characters previously introduced and their pasts and their pain already known. I love how the author might produce adversarial pairs on a consistent basis in her stories, but the conflicts that challenge them have either broad differences or nuances that make them special. In this one, Riaz, like Hawke discovered his mate and then had the heartbreaking knowledge that he can't have her. In this situation, she's alive, but in love with someone else and married to him. For Adria, she has been with the changling male she thought she loved for a long time and their relationship died and she had to finally let it go. The pain for this pair tugged at my heart. Truthfully, I was glad for all the other stories breaking in and taking the story away from their romance so it was spread out a bit for me. Loved seeing this pair heal, become friends, and then find love even if there is a struggle to get there.

This book really had a ton of movement and action in it. It flipped between scenes and situations a lot, but the talented Ms. Singh made it child's play to keep up with it all and enjoy each new unfolding scene. There was more Psy Counselor stuff, more Pure Psy, more Arrows, more from the human Alliance, and a new element with the aquatic pack making an appearance. War is on and the Pure Psy struck out first again after their failed attempt to hit Snow Dancer pack and Ming is now very aware Sienna and the Laurens are alive.
And that last scene... I really am glad I'm behind and can grab up the next book without a wait.

This is a paranormal romance series in its prime and writing at its best. Can't recommend it enough to other paranormal romance fans.

3,5 STARS

Just one read away from Kaleb's story, yes!

Riaz and Adria's story was an unusual one. They were both from the same pack, both wolves and both knew there was no maing bond between them. I kinda hoped there would be one at the end but that didn't happen. Riaz has already found his mate but she was already taken by another. So you can imagine that he was heartbroken. Similar thing happened to Adria. She was in a disfunctional relationship for years and when she finally broke the circle, her heart bleed as well. It's such a strange thing for those two to find each other in a phase of their lives, where love seems an impossibility.

I wasn't that impressed with Riaz's behaviour towards Adria at the beginning of the book. To be frank, he was a total jerk and only let his hurt control him. With that he not only pushed others away but also almost destroyed his chance of love. I'm glad he overcame that as the story went on. As it turned out, he's actually a quite nice fella and super protective towards the people he loves. With that he managed to win himself some bonus points. Also, I like it that he never gives up. And that was just what Adria needed. Someone who really saw her worth and didn't give up on her.

Adria is a strong woman but one with a broken heart. And she didn't really have the right time to grieve. So when Riaz and her new job make her emotions go haywire she finally breaks and lets herself remember the loss and pain. Finally she heals. That makes her then woundable and she doesn't trust in Riaz's feelings for her. And tat the leadst to a long plot where nothing really happens.

Now the thing that bothered me in the previous book is that we don't see much of a progress in the big plot. Yes, something is happening, some die and some don't really matter to the plot because they don't freaking do anything! We get so much of Siena and Wrath's story, that it almost felt like this story was a continuation of the previous one and Adria and Riaz's story is just a side-kick. Also there wasn't much action, not much memorable romance and frankly said, I'm disappointed in the whole book. The only saving grace were the Arrows and of course Kaleb. So...yeah...

But anyway, I'm finally going to read Heart of Obsidian and that's all that matters! Yes!

I started to notice in the last book that the story was more than just one couples tale. That trend continued and expanded in this book. Besides the story of Adria and Raiz, this book expands the story of Sienna and Hawk as well as some fun peeks at Mercy and Riley. And it sets up book twelve with lots of wonderings about what's up with Kaleb Krycheck. This really turns this into a series book that probably shouldn't be read standalone.

Knowing what I did about Raiz, I wasn't sure how things were going to work for him and Adria. And there was a lot of frustration and anger between them as they react to the unwanted sexual tension. I wouldn't want to be the same room with them near the beginning of this book. But their attraction forced them to become friends and I enjoyed their relationship because of that. They really developed a relationship beyond a mating bond. That's kinda different.

These characters did capture my heart and I hurt for both of them. Neither of them had had much luck with their heart. They really did find a way to heal each other and that makes them unique in a world where the mating bond rules.

The world in this series is going through some changes and I can't wait to see what happens next. Tantalizing hints are dropped about what's up with the former counselor, Kaleb Krycheck and I must admit to be very curious to keep reading. I so love this world and am still incredible obsessed.

If you love paranormal romance with endearing characters, a masterful world and a great story, then this is a perfect story for you.

I really like the series. I knew Sienna and Hawk were an inevitable couple. However, that doesn't mean I had to like it. I don't have a problem with May December relationships. I just wish she was not 20 and him 40ish. I get that she is an old soul ... forced to grow up fast, but the character is not developmentally convincing. One minute naive, like you would expect for her age, then insightful beyond her years. I find that I try to read quickly through all sections involving Sienna because the character reads like an adolescent playing a grown up. It grates that she is supposed to be his emotional equal. Really, you couldn't make that character at least 25!?!??

Tangle of Need might be the eleventh book in the series, but it was still just as fresh and captivating as the first!

We were first introduced to Riaz and Adria in Play of Passion, through their connection to the SnowDancer Lieutenant, Indigo. Adria is Indigo's aunt and the reason Indigo had such reservations about mating with a wolf less dominant then her. After years of emotional abuse, Adria has finally left her long-term partner, Martin. A wolf who disparaged Adria for her dominance despite her unflagging love and loyalty. While Riaz was a sexual playmate for Indigo before Drew came along. At that time we found out that Riaz had finally met his mate while on an over-seas assignment, but sadly she is already happily married. And Riaz loves her too much to destroy that relationship for her. Now, both wolves are back at the SnowDancer den to pick up the pieces of their lives and try to build anew.

Upon meeting there is an undeniable attraction between Adria and Riaz, but they are in complete denial at first. Riaz can't help but feel that it is a betrayal to his true mate. Unable to process his growing feelings for Adria, he takes out his confusion and anger on her. But Adria has had enough abuse from the males in her life and doesn't stand for it. Eventually these to come to terms with the chemistry sizzling between them but hot sex is not enough to conquer their own fears or overcome their past. Adria and Riaz's romance was an emotional roller-coaster with enough ups and downs to make your head spin. They're not a couple that I loved instantly, because they were each very rough around the edges and abrasive. But as they came to terms with their own inner demons I found myself liking them more and more until I eventually fell in love with them as well. I was surprised by the end how much I actually enjoyed this book.

Adria and Riaz's relationship, when they finally give into it, is unique. In Kiss of Snow I think the author started inching into the territory of Changelings being able to share a lasting relationship without a mating with Hawke and Sienna. Which opened up an avenue for Riaz and Adria to find a happily ever after. Tangle of Need was filled with humor, romance, and plenty of frustration. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!

Hawke and Sienne share plenty of page time with the new couple, giving readers a wonderful glimpse into the continual happiness (and of course some struggles) of the mated pair as well as their mating ceremony. There is also a good amount of time with other wonderful characters that long-time readers have come to love. It gives Tangle of Need a well-rounded feel and a sense of coming home. The Psy conflict continues as well and I can't help but become more and more fascinated by the powerful Kaleb with each book. Along with the mysterious Arrows, what started out as intense dislike for this cold race has turned into fascination and intrigue. I can't wait for their own stories!

My suggestion would be to read Tangle of Need in series order, otherwise there is a lot going on, and a lot of backstory that you miss, that might cause confusion. I can't say enough what I must-read series this is for paranormal romance fans and urban fantasy lovers who like a dose of romance in their stories. You'll kick yourself for not reading them sooner! There are a lot of changes coming to the Psy-Changeling world and I can't wait to see what happens next!

* I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Adria and Riaz take an instant dislike to each other when they both return to the heart of SnowDancer's territory but that's more because they are both disturbed by the strong sexual appeal they feel towards each other than anything else. Both of them have reasons not to be interested in pursuing a relationship and have no intention of acting upon their attraction but sometimes chemistry can't be ignored and the pull between them is just too strong to resist for long. What starts with the promise of a no strings affair quickly turns into something so much stronger but with so many things against them do they have any chance of creating a lasting relationship?

We first met Adria in Indigo and Drew's book so we already had a pretty good understanding of her relationship with her ex Martin. It wasn't a happy relationship, Martin resented Adria's strength and dominance which led to problems between them and meant Adria was constantly trying to change her personality to make him happy. It's no surprise that she's come out of that relationship wary, no matter how badly things ended up she had loved Martin in the beginning and she doesn't want to risk putting herself into a similar situation again. Riaz is someone I've been wanting to know more about ever since we first met him and found out that his mate was already married to someone else when he met her. He walked away from his mate because he could see that she was in love and happy but that doesn't mean his heart doesn't ache from the loss of what should have been the most important person in his life. Riaz never had a chance with his mate, they were never a couple and she doesn't even know how he feels about her but in spite of that his attraction towards Adria feels like a betrayal.

The chemistry between Adria and Riaz is off the charts from the moment they meet, they practically melted my kindle with the unrestrained desire between them so I was glad they didn't take too long to give into temptation. It was interesting to see a couple who don't have the benefit of the mating bond to strengthen the relationship between them, they fall in love but Adria finds it difficult to believe that Riaz wouldn't leave her in a heartbeat if he had a chance to be with his real mate. Riaz is the one who accepts his feelings towards Adria more easily, he quickly realises how strong their connection is and he knows that nothing would ever be able to tear them apart. He is so sweet and gentle with her and I couldn't help falling a little in love with him myself seeing how much he cares about her. Adria obviously loves Riaz too, in fact, the way she was willing to let him go because she loves him so much was more than a little heartbreaking and I was glad that they were able to work things out in the long run.

As much as I enjoyed the developing romance between Adria and Riaz I think my favourite scenes in the book were focused on Hawke and Sienna. I loved getting to see how their relationship is progressing and their mating ceremony was absolutely wonderful, they are the heart of the pack and I just love seeing Sienna grow in confidence now that she has Hawke at her side. There are also some wonderful scenes with Mercy and Riley that melted my heart a little and Judd gets another chance to shine as we learn more about both the Arrow squad and Kaleb (boy I can't wait to start his book!!). Of course it wouldn't be a Nalini Singh book if there wasn't danger and the changeling's psy enemies are definitely on the war path. Things in the PsyNet are worse than ever and Silence is on the verge of failure which will effect not just the entire psy population but also the changelings and humans. Things are getting incredibly tense and I have no idea how they can be resolved. This whole series is just packed full of amazing characters that I can't get enough of and I'm excited to find out what happens next.

I am a huge fan of the Psy/Changeling series. It is one of my go-to's, something I can always depend on. This story was a good read, but not great, and not up to the high standards of the previous books in the series.

It was well-written (as all Ms. Singh's books are), and had all of the elements that I love in a paranormal romance - strong, engaging characters, some suspense, and a lot of steam. However, this story seemed to be less about the main characters and more about everything else. There were too many separate story threads with dozens of secondary characters that, in my opinion, took away from the core story. And, while the previous books in this series can be read and enjoyed as stand-alones, this one read more like section of the bigger series story line than in the primary characters' love story.

It's hard to go into specifics without spoilers, so I'll just say this - there were too many distractions disrupting the flow of what ultimately is a really nice love story.

Riaz Delgado is adjusting to his SnowDancer home. It's not easy for Riaz, who spent a good deal of time as a lone wolf, and who is also struggling with the fallout of finding his unattainable mate.

Riaz was on a mission in Venice when he met Lisette, a beautiful Frenchwoman working in the sinking city. His wolf knew her immediately - he felt the bone-deep knowledge that she was his, the woman he was destined for. Unfortunately for Riaz, Lisette is happily married to her husband, Emil, and aside from a heightened awareness of what lies between them, she is unaware of the mating bond. And that's the way it has to be. Riaz will never fulfil his mateship with Lisette, will never jeopardize her happiness for his own - and as a consequence, Riaz's gut roils at the thought of touching a woman who is not his mate. He has not had skin privileges for a year, so disgusted is he at the thought of being with anyone who is not his destined mate. . . until he meets Adria.

Adria Morgan is making a new home for herself in SnowDancer too, after her disastrous long-term relationship with a submissive male wolf came to an ugly end. As an alpha female and senior soldier, Adria is still coming to terms with the power plays and inadequacies that made that relationship crumble, and she's still feeling very fragile in the aftermath... Which is why the last thing she needs is an attraction to alpha wolf and Lieutenant, Riaz Delgado.

Riaz feels the same way, and is thoroughly disgusted at the lustful reactions Adria ignites in him. What starts as sneering and sniping between the two quickly combusts into a heated and love affair that neither of them is prepared for.

`Tangle of Need' is the eleventh book in Nalini Singh's paranormal romance, `Psy-Changeling' series.

Last year Ms Singh released the most-anticipated book in her `Psy-Changeling' series - finally telling the story of alpha wolf, Hawke, and his young Psy-X sweetheart, Sienna Lauren. It was, hands down, the most complex and celebrated book in the series; and many fans wondered where Ms Singh could possibly go from there, I would hazard a guess that many fans even wondered if there was any need for further exploration? A ten-book series is no small feat, and when your tenth book is also centred on the most-anticipated pairing of the entire series, few fans would have begrudged Ms Singh going out on the high-note of Hawke's HEA. So a lot is riding on `Tangle of Need', to establish the longevity of an already immense series, and to discern if fan's interest will wane now that everyone's favourite character has had his time in the spotlight. Well, I can safely say that Ms Singh assuages everyone's doubts and fuels the series fire once again in this eleventh book.

`Tangle of Need' is primarily centred on the romance of Riaz and Adria - exploring their complicated affections and love-hate relationship. These two are an interesting coupling, particularly for how their relationship answers some questions about the entire `Psy-Changeling' universe and the complexities of the mating bond. Riaz and Adria are explosive simply because they start out hating one another - they raise each other's hackles, and there's an instant chemistry on the page simply for how they rub each other the wrong way. And, yes, it is a textbook case of `the lady doth protest too much' - which is always an interesting premise to any romance. But the real conflict between Adria and Riaz is in the fact that Riaz has already found his mate - and it's not Adria.

Riaz met Lisette in Venice, and felt the mating bond tugging them together. Unfortunately for Riaz, Lisette is happily married to her husband, and as such Riaz would never jeopardize her happiness for his own. As a side note; I was unclear whether or not Lisette was human or wolf. She was in Venice working with the wolves, but it seemed as though she was unaware of the mating bond (making me think she was human). She acknowledges that she felt an odd pull towards Riaz, but if she had been wolf surely she would have known what it was, beyond the odd quirk of being attracted to this strange man? Regardless, the hurdle for Riaz and Adria is that their attraction and growing affection is happening, despite knowing that Riaz has a mate bond with another. . . it's an interesting conundrum that Singh has written, and very much unlike anything explored in the `Psy-Changeling' series thus far. I really liked this romantic complication - it's sort of the antithesis to lots of cliché love stories in the paranormal romance genre, where writers will so often depend on the `mating bond' and `ethereal-unintelligible-spiritual-something-magical' connection between two people to explain why they love each other. For Riaz and Adria, they're coming together in spite of Riaz's `bond' with another.

It's a juicy little conundrum, and as such I wish Singh had explored it more in depth than she did. Towards the end of the book Lisette is thrown as a literal spanner in Riaz and Adria's budding relationship - and that was the moment things got really interesting for me. I would have liked it if Riaz/Lisette/Adria had been a more thoroughly explored triangle throughout the book, instead of marginally towards the end.

But fans will be happy to learn to `Tangle of Need' is not just Riaz and Adria's love story. They actually share the spotlight with, none other than. . . Hawke and Sienna!

That's right! - Nalini Singh clearly recognized the power of Hawke and Sienn'a romance, and has used `Tangle of Need' as their continuing story. As a result, we get plenty of `awwww!' moments between the newly mated Hawke and Sienna, and we follow them in the months following their mating - when they're still finding their footing with one another (Sienna learning to live with an alpha, while Hawke is trying not to suffocate his new mate with his alpha-ness). It's a fantastic ongoing story between the two of them - and the Psy-related events of `Tangle' even have me wondering if the twelfth book will continue to follow Hawke and Sienna? Either way; the ongoing saga of Hawke and Sienna is the real, surprising draw-card of `Tangle', and will leave fans very happy and satisfied, particularly because Singh has them discussing the finer details of their marriage and mateship that wasn't covered in `Kiss of Snow' (everything from kids to Sienna's standing with the maternal females).

As to whether or not the `Psy-Changeling' series has promise beyond everyone's beloved Hawke? Before reading `Tangle of Need' I was on the fence; half wondering if the series shouldn't end on the `Kiss of Snow' high note? But, Ms Singh uses this eleventh book to start planting the seeds for new and interesting stories, beyond the wolf SnowDancer and leopard DarkRiver packs.

In `Tangle', the SnowDaner/DarkRiver alliance is approached by the BlackSea clan to join their coalition. Unofficially led by the beautiful Miane Levèque the BlackSea are, as the name suggests, a collective of sea-bound changelings. Now, this is very interesting. In the paranormal genre we've had any number of were-animals and changeling animals, but not any from the sea (mermaids aside, in a category all their own). I love that Singh has fun with this new concept, which will surely have fans interest piqued (is there such thing as changeling jellyfish?!).

And of course Singh hints that the `Psy-Changeling' series still has life in it yet, not least because Psy Councillor Ming LeBon is still plotting and scheming.

I went into `Tangle of Need' not entirely convinced that Nalini Singh's `Psy-Changeling' series shouldn't have concluded with Hawke and Sienna's much-anticipated and very fulfilling tenth book. However, Nalini Singh has officially convinced me that her beloved paranormal romance series still has a lot of life left in it. I am immensely curious about the new changeling alliance with BlackSea, and the possibility of further side-stories about everyone's favourite couple; Hawke and Sienna. I went in a little unsure and hesitant, but I finished `Tangle of Need' more curious than ever about the trajectory of this evolving series.

Holy smoke'n hotness Nalini Singh! What are you doing to me. No really? Just when you think nothing can get hotter then Sienna and Hawke from the last book, Singh drops an even better--hotter--couple in our laps! Adria and Riaz, they're my new favorite couple. Let's be honest I never, ever, claim to pick favorites.

Adria was a bit discouraging for me because I really disliked her from Play of Passion. She was in a horrible relationship, one bad enough to put the fear in Indigo. Like onions, every character Singh creates has layers. Adria turned out to be amazing. She might not be a Sentinel or Lieutenant, but she was a fabulous edition to the strong "warrior" women of the Psy-Changeling universe. Adria for me was unlikeable right at the beginning, it took a bit before I could see past my initial reaction to her. Once she started to interact with Riaz things started to look up. Because she finally started to open up. She's an incredible woman and that horrible relationship she was in, it was so legit that I felt bad when things went south.

Riaz was simply amazing! His suffering over the fact that he had to let his mate go was heartbreaking. To have the kind of strength to protect his mate by not going after her was (cue the applause) inspiring. By doing this he found something even stronger, love that defied a mating bond. Well done, Singh.

Riaz and Adria's story was so wonderful I felt a little grumpy that Tangle of Need was so much of an extension of Sienna and Hawke story. Yes, I love them both so much! Yet I feel a little grumpy by how much page time the stole from Riaz and Adria. Time I felt could have even deepened their story further. But that's just a mild grump from me. Riley and Mercy have some fantastic news and I loved getting time with other characters as well. The true civil war in the Net is coming into play and the world of Psy and Changeling are merging despite Pure Psy's attempts to purify the net. At times it's beautiful to see how Silence couldn't stop love and good intentions. Even as the horror of the breaking Silence is still there.

There are so many things going on here! It's a rush. The good kind. It just stuns me every time I read a Psy-Changeling book how much world building and depth is here. No. Really. It doesn't get much better than this. Oh, and be warned killer cliffhanger. You will want the next book on hand. Because the Psy civil war is here, and the bigger stuff is happening in the next book. Tangle of Need it proof that no matter what you think, this series is just going to get better and better.

Sexual Content: Steamy scenes ahead, and loads of sexual humor.

5/5- Fabulous, a beautiful obsession!

- 3 Tangle of Need Stars -

Tangle of Need is book eleven in Nalini Singh Psy-Changeling series. I really do enjoy this series with it’s fantastically interesting characters, factions and magnificent world building. That being said Tangle of Need feel below par for me in that it felt more like a filler book then about the actual couple Adria and Riaz. I still enjoyed and devoured the book, but was not wowed.

I loved a lot about this book, but most of it felt like it was filler material and that we where learning more about other couples then the actual couple for this book Adria and Riaz. I had a hard time getting into Adria and Riaz. There relationship starts off rocky (which I have no problem with), but they never really did it for me. I did enjoy and think it was sweet how Riaz gave gift’s to attempt to get Adria to stay.

I have to say I love seeing past mated couples and learning what is happening with them. We find out that someone is pregnant. Oh that was fun to learn. I loved seeing into Hawke and Sienna’s relationship. Seeing this couple together and growing stronger, plus talking about the future was so heartwarming. I also loved learning about Patient A aka Alice. I can’t wait to see what happens to our little scientist that has been in a coma for a very long time.

Ms. Singh does such a wonderful job bring new things to life and keeping the plot of this series going. The new plot development in the Psy net is very interesting. Things are changing in the net mind and new and darker forces are coming into play. We also see more alliances forming and a civil war amongst the Psy.

Tangle of Need was a good read. I love reading about the SnowDancer’s and past characters. I'm intrigued to see what will happen in the next book.

*SPOILERS*

tangle-of-need-psy-changeling-nalini-singhRiaz Delgado is tormented by the fact that he has found his mate, but she is happily married to another man. Riaz has been celibate for the last year, not wanting to betray his mate even though he can’t be with her.

Adria has finally ended things with her long time live-in boyfriend, Martin, that hasn’t been working for some time now. She has transferred back to the SnowDancer den and is looking to start over.

Riaz and Adria are overcome with attraction when they first meet. Each of them having their own wounds, they try to fight it. But they eventually realize they can’t overcome their carnal desire for one another and they give in, as a ‘friends with benefits’ kind of relationship since neither can handle or want anything serious. But before you know it, their relationship has grown into so much more.

Meanwhile, a civil war is about to break out in the Psynet. Somebody is targeting the anchors of the net, those that hold it together. And, Nikita and Anthony look to the SnowDancers to help defend the anchors in their territory and keep mass destruction at bay.

I have to admit, I really liked Riaz from the moment we were introduced to him in Play of Passion. So I was pretty excited to read his book. And, throw in Adria and I couldn’t get through the pages fast enough!

I adored this couple! The inner struggles within Raiz were heart-wrenching, but I don’t think anybody could fault him for giving in to his attraction, when his mate is with another. And, of course Adria is severely scarred from her failed relationship with Martin. I loved seeing them find comfort in one another’s arms. I found Raiz to be so sweet and I absolutely loved their time in Venice … dancing in the streets…. *swoon*. But you can’t blame Adria for having her doubts, knowing that she wasn’t his first choice. But he more than proved his devotion to her. I loved all his little gifts, and her reaction to the opera tickets was hilarious!

“Borrowing a hammer from Walker Lauren, she pounded the tickets into the office door with a nail. Hawke, passing by, helpfully held the tickets in place while she hammered the nail. He didn’t say a word, his expression so bland it was clear he was highly amused.”

But of course his actions were far better than all the trinkets he could give her and he just kept making me love him even more. I kept waiting for the mating bond to show-up, thinking maybe his wolf never truly chose before…… not spilling if it did or not. But regardless, I LOVED them and can’t wait to see more!!

“I will love you until the day they put me in the earth.”

Also, I love that we’re now starting to get glimpses of some of the other couples previously mated in the series. Sienna and Hawke and I’m so incredibly happy for Riley and Mercy and their possible pupcubs!

“Mercy’s eyes held equal parts shock, and delight. “Riley.”

He felt his lips stretch even wider. “I think we need to celebrate with some brand-new etchings.”

His cat’s laugh was surprised and warm and the sound of home. “It’s your etchings that got us into this position.”

The Psy storylines were pretty boring for me, but the Psy in general just don’t appeal to me, so that’s not a surprise. But there is so much going on with the couples, it more than makes up for it! This was an awesome addition to the Psy-Changeling series and is a definite must read for those of you that read for the romance, especially those who, like me, really enjoy a good changeling/changeling relationship!

And if I had to pick a song to describe this book and Riaz and Adria’s relationship, it would be The High Road by Three Days Grace. This song to me perfectly voices their struggles. It always seems that things *could* be so much easier than they allow it to be.

“Will you straighten me out, or make me take the long way around”

… for this couple, it’s usually the latter! Also I think that Riaz is really trying to be

“the mistake you (Adria) can’t live without”.

I wasn't too impressed with either Riaz or Adria in the previous books, but Nalini Singh quickly changed my mind as I found myself sucked back into the amazing world she'd created involving 3 races: the changelings, the Psy, and humans. There're so much more to this book than just the romance between Riaz and Adria, so I'll have to split this review into parts.

Riaz and Adria
Riaz is a dominant lone wolf who'd lost his mate before he ever had her. Coming back to the pack to heal, he never expected to run into the cold-eyed Adria who didn't seem to like him from their first meeting. What he didn't realize was that Adria's temper came from her sexual attraction to him.

After her bad breakup with a less-than stellar boyfriend, Adria wanted nothing to do with the man that stirred the deepest and wildest desire within her. So instead, she used her icy temper to drive him away, except it only drew him closer to finding out why she didn't like him.

No one writes sexual tension and frustration like Nalini Singh. Adria's sexual frustration was evident, as was her self-control. I really like her because despite her bad breakup, she's a strong and caring woman who knows her worth and won't take anything less than what she deserves. She also knows when to back down and is extremely mature about things. When facing difficult decisions, she didn't just stomp away but instead faced her problems head on. She really had a spine of steel.

After reading this book, I now want Riaz to be my boyfriend (this happens after every Psy-changeling book). I don't know how Ms. Singh does it, but she writes these really dangerous and sexy and delectable men who are the sweetest and most protective when it comes to their women and always knows what they're doing in the bedroom. I fall in love with them one after another, and Riaz is no different!

Riaz and Adria's romance might have taken a backburner to the other events in the book, but in no way was I actually unsatisfied with how their relationship developed. While a lot of other things went on, I felt that Adria and Riaz's relationship went through the usual ups and downs without missing a beat. They were overshadowed by the main series arc not because their part was short, but only because the main plot had a lot more relevance in the greater picture.

Sienna and Hawke
A large part of this book is devoted to these two, including their official mating celebration with the pack. It's a bit unfair to Riaz and Adria, but I loved reading about them. I can never get enough of Hawke, the super alpha! I love seeing previous characters in these series romance so it was great to see that despite their HEA, they still deal with real-life problems. It's ever better to read how their love grows for one another, as if that was possible after the last book!

The Psy
Most of the book centers around the civil war and the breaking of the Silence Protocol among the Psy race. I've found myself heavily invested in Vasic, Aden, Kaleb, and the Ghost. I hope they each get their own book. I love the mystery surrounding Kaleb and the identity of the Ghost! While I would be severely disappointed if they don't each get their book, I'm sure Ms. Singh will have a perfect explanation for each. If any author can close all loopholes in a story, Ms. Singh is the one to do it!

World-Building
I might've mentioned this in reviews of earlier books, but Ms. Singh always shocks me with this complex world she's created that has so many subtleties. Every race has a well-flushed history. The Psy has the Net and their problems associated with that and how the Net functions. Then there are the groups of Changelings each with their own different habits and pack rules and structures. Just thinking about these things gives me a headache. I can't imagine how hard it was to expand this world consistently through this long of a series. I'm very impressed.

While this book served more as a transition for the series, as Ms. Singh has stated that the main plot for the Psy-Changelings will be over in the next few books, it didn't diminish my enjoyment of this book. If you have not read this yet, I highly recommend this series!

I admit that the biggest draw of Tangle of Need for me initially was my favorite Psy-Changeling series couple Hawk and Sienna--I heard that we're going to see a lot of them in Tangle of Need and I wanted to read more about them as a couple after Kiss of Snow. I was definitely not disappointed there. Hawk and Sienna indeed got a lot of page time. I was very happy that Nalini explored their relationship further, from their mating ceremony to their everyday life as a couple to their discussions of their future. LOVE!!

But as I read on, I ended up enjoying Adria and Riaz's journey to their happily ever after too.

It didn't start out that way though because Riaz was a jerk in the beginning and Adria was a little prickly. Riaz, a lone wolf, found his intended mate too late (she's already married and happily so) and Adria's long-term relationship with a less dominant male just ended. Both has returned to the pack to heal and neither were expecting the powerful attraction that they feel for each other, which eventually grew to respect, friendship and deep affection. However, without the possibility of the mate bond (and we all know how important the mating bond is), what kind of relationship can they form? Will they have a future together? The chemistry between Adria and Riaz sizzled with great turn-up-the-fan scenes but there were also a lot of sweet moments between them that I liked just as much. I especially loved the scenes when Riaz was courting Adria and all the sweet things he did for her. Sigh.

The overarching storyline of the tension between the Psy and the Changelings and the inevitable Psy war continues here. The Arrows also get a lot of page time and we gain more insight about them. We also see a lot of the mysterious Kaleb--this novel ended Kaleb finding "her" and I cannot wait to see what will happen next with him.

Tangle of Need is the eleventh book in the Psy-Changeling series. I do not suggest you pick this book up if you have not read the earlier books as there is just too much back-story that will leave you confused. Start with book one, Slave to Sensation, and work your way to Tangle of Need. Trust me, you won't regret it. Besides the excellent writing, intricate world building, a twisty overarching plot that will keep you guessing and multidimensional characters that you will grow to care about, each novel features a hero and heroine to die for. And with each book Nalini just keeps getting better and better.

If you're following the series, you gotta pick up Tangle of Need. There were some surprising revelations here, more clues to fuel your theories and a cliffhanger ending with Kaleb finding "her." OMG!! Who could this "her"/his heroine be? (I have theories of course!)

REVIEW:
Another great book from Nalini. Seriously loving this series and I am so glad that I took the time to listen to them on audio. Ms.Dawe is an awesome narrator that is able to deliver Nalini’s story amazing way. Thank you to both of theses ladies for this series.

**Okay there may be a spoiler from here. So if you have not read you may want to stop. But I will do my best to be not give much away.

I loved that there was so much of Hawke & Sienna in this book :) I think the people that felt there was not enough (I was not one of them) of Hawke and Sienna in Kiss of Snow will be very happy with how much we get to see the SnowDancer Alpha couple. And they are just as prickly sweet as ever. Of course my main man Judd is in this book. Love love love that guy. I really need to get a shirt that says I <3 Judd. Riley and Mercy make an appearance and stir up some trouble. Battle lines are drawn. An enemy is found. And a new threat looms over the world.

But the main story is Riaz & Adria. These two’s story was so heart breaking. I felt for them on such a deep level that I kept waiting for Ms. Singh to make it right. But she didn’t. There was no bandaid for these two to cover up their wounds. And that made me really sad. BUT!!! Unlike some of the reviews I read. I think the Ms. Singh did right by these two and left a door open for there to become more. I am truly hoping that is the case. I guess only time will tell.

I can’t wait to get into Kaleb’s book. There is so much more to this Former Councilor than meets the eye.

I purchased this book from Audible and this review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Great addition to the series!
Without giving anything away...

Somehow, I'd missed this one, and it contains some pivotal events pertaining to the overall series arc, even though it focuses on the tentative romance trying to develop between two wounded, dominant wolves who had each feared that they would never be loved again.
It could be just me, but book 11 seems to have more sex scenes that this series' volumes usually seem to have, but they were good; sexy, but not over the top; unobtrusive; and important to the development of both the budding relationship, and to the story.

The Psy-Net continues to show cracks. Kaleb still seeks his mysterious goal. The Cats & Wolves have solidified their unity, and both packs' new members have become integral to their respective new clans.

New babies are on the way, barren lands are being re-seeded, and new Liaisons with the Humans and the water-weres are in tentative negotiations.

The couples that paired-up in previous volumes are all looked-in upon in a satisfying way, and the Arrows continue to move toward complete independence.

If you are looking for this book to be about Riaz and Adria, you're in for a let down. They are in it, but so is 'everything and everyone else's stuff'. Soooo much time is spent on telling other stories that the main characters are and afterthought. And be forewarned Singh spends a significant amount of time on Hawlke and Sienna, 'whyyyy'? It was boring to the extreme.

I will say that when the hero and heroine get together its sweet, and its sad that the reader is tricked into thinking they are getting their love story primarily. I don't know why it was even told when not much about was addressed. I call it false advertising.

But if this is your first book in the series be prepared to know that all of them are mostly full of clues that lead to future books, but they can stand alone without you being behind in information, its just theres too much filler for the present story being told in that particular book.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Nalini Singh is a master storyteller when it comes to emotions and relationships. A character driven plot that has so many little events happening that leads me to believe that Tangle of Need is a filler book for important events in the future.

Opening Sentence: Riaz caught a flash of midnight hair and a long-legged stride and called out, "Indigo!"

The Review:

Tangle of Need starts two months after the events of Kiss of Snow. Hawke and Sienna are about to celebrate their mating ceremony and all has been quiet on the Psy front. SnowDancer is rebuilding the land that was destroyed by Sienna's cold fire. Adria has permanently moved back with the SnowDancer pack after her divorce from Martin and Raiz is fighting the call of the lone wolf after finding his mate and being devastated that she is not in love with him. Alice is still in a coma. Ghost still doesn't understand people's emotions. Aden, Vasic and councilor Kaleb Krychek's loyalties are still unknown. Little is seen of Walker and Lara but Judd still plays a huge role in decisions that affect SnowDancer.

Adria is pretty depressed after her divorce and the last thing she wants is another relationship. She can't stand to go through the heartbreak again but her wolf needs the relief of skin contact. She is strangely attracted to Riaz but hides it behind hate and indifference so he will leave her alone. Unfortunately it catches Riaz' attention, he doesn't understand why she can hate him so much. Eventually they both relieve the tension built up with some skin contact. Adria is especially skittish of Riaz when she realizes he has already met his mate. How can she give him her heart when his has already been spoken for? She doesn't want to be second best.

Riaz slowly comes to a realization about his feelings towards Adria. He knows what she is doing by not giving herself to him fully while he gradually works to gain her trust and love. Riaz is a strong wolf. He will not treat Adria like her ex-husband did. Their relationship is passionate but it is not as hot as some other relationships in past novels.

This novel is character/relationship driven, skipping between the many characters that have been seen in this series so far. There is little in the way of any action, although some Psy's are being taken out to destroy portions of the PsyNet. An alliance is also being formed with another set of shapeshifters. They said there was a reason why they wanted to form an alliance (Hawke even mentions he finds out why) but I either missed that or it will be revealed in a later book. Tangle of Need felt like a filler book, setting up actions and events that will factor heavily in the next books in the series. They do figure out who is behind the Psy attacks and while one major event does happen near the end of the book, I wasn't at all surprised when it happened.

Overall, Tangle of Need is another stellar novel from Nalini Singh. She always makes me cry from the emotion that she fills her characters with, even when I try not to cry. I'm such a wuss. I would recommend reading this whole series before this novel or at least Kiss of Snow.

FTC Advisory: Penguin/Berkley provided me with a copy of Tangle of Need. No goody bags, sponsorships, "material connections," or bribes were exchanged for my review.

I have to start by saying once again Nalini has blown me away with her creativity. She's such an incredible writer you feel like you're in the story with her characters. Plainly put, she's brilliant and in my opinion a total genius. I've loved this series from the very beginning and this book is no different. And I should add that since I have listened to this whole series on audio book, I've become attached to Angela Dawe, she really brings the story to life for me!

I do have some things to bring up though. I feel a little jipped, like half of the book was hijacked by Hawke and Sienna. Don't get me wrong, I still love Hawke and having more of him was wonderful but I felt like it took away from the story between Riaz and Adria. Every other book had secondary characters that worked around the two main ones but not this one. I almost felt like this was another Hawke and Sienna book, Kiss of Snow Part 2 kind of. I kind of wish Nalini had just given the two of them their own Novella (Hawke and Sienna), it would have worked better for me.

Now with that said, I still loved this book! LOL I am and always will be in love with these characters. Riaz is so wounded and broken almost when Adria comes along and Adria is broken, so it was only fitting that they come together the way they did. Hot, Hard and Angry....that describes their chemistry better than anything. If you've read the book, you know what I mean. I liked how they came together but I felt it was missing a little something. Not sure what but I still loved them. It wasn't enough to lower my rating.

The secondary characters are still fun and entertaining. It's always nice to see what the different Snow Dancers and Dark River people are up to. I miss them when I'm not reading about them. And I have some favorites that I would really love to see get their own books in the future.

A little bit happened with the Psy in this book but for the most part it was just leading up to something huge that will probably happen in the next book or so. I can't wait to find out about all of that, especially with Caleb. I have a feeling there is much much more to him than meets the eye and I am so looking forward to finding out.

And last but not least, babies! I love babies and there are a few in this one. You'll have to read it though to find out more details!!!

I give this book 5 Moons because, well Nalini is brilliant with her Psy/Changeling world and outstanding writing! I hate the thought that I'll probably have to wait a whole year to get the next book. :( But until then, I'm gonna re-read these! ;)

Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh

The story, Tangle of Need covers a lot of territory but it is primarily about the developing relationship between Riaz a Snow Dancer lieutenant and Adria a senior soldier in the same pack.

Theirs is a complicated relationship because each has been let down by love and not ready for the intense attraction they have for each other. Adria has broken up with Martin who was a less dominant male who was undermining her self confidence and Riaz has met his mate who is happily married to another man. The question this story asks is what really constitutes love? These two fight, claw, have lusty sex and sometimes quietly contemplate the answer.

In the background we have power plays of some of the councilors, and the pure Psy zealots. We are also looking at the imminent collapse of the Psy net. This story has you on the edge of your seat.

The story is well crafted and a brilliantly written. Tangle of Need really brings home the point that you should live for today because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Nalini Singh has turned into an author that I automatically buy when she releases a new book. Her books are just that good. I know that I when I read her books I will get an amazing story, some steamy romance and an overall plot arc that always keeps me coming back. If you have not read this series before though, I will warn you it would be difficult to pick up with this book. There is too much back story and events from previous books tied into this one. It would be confusing to come in mid story. I have read all of them and even I had to use the character guide in the beginning of the book to help jog my memory. So just keep that in mind when you are thinking about reading Tangle of Need. The whole series is amazing anyways, so you might as well just read them all.

We pick up in Tangle of Need right where we left off in Kiss of Snow. Riaz is a character I did not notice as much in the past and was not sure what to expect from his book. We already know that he found his mate. She is a human that is happily married to another and he will never be able to claim her for his own. That cannot be an easy concept for a changeling to accept and I thought he would never be able to love another. Understandably, his inability to be with his mate has hardened him and turned him into a bitter man. He comes back to his pack to sulk and be around those who love him. He never expects to start developing feelings for Adria and feels like he is betraying his mate in doing so. The result of all of these complications is a very emotional journey with Riaz that had my heart breaking for him at multiple points.

Adria has not had it any easier. She was in a long term relationship with another wolf, but he was less dominant than her and it put a lot of strain on their relationship. He also saved her life once and she let the guilt over that incident keep her in a relationship that was never working. Towards the end the guy she was dating turned into a different person and hurt Adria very deeply. She thinks she can never trust another man and fights her attraction for Riaz at every turn. As she slowly lets her guard down, she realizes that they might be able to heal one another. She thinks:

"Maybe, just maybe, two broken people could manage to create something whole."

That thought was much easier said than done though as Riaz and Adria try to navigate through a relationship that neither one is sure they can devote their whole heart to. They slowly form a fragile, tender bond that helps both of them learn that they can love again. I did not go into this book expecting to get so attached to these characters, but my heart could not resist. I took this passionate journey with Riaz and Adria and soaked in every minute I got to spend with them.

While Riaz and Adria are the main focus of this book, Hawke and Sienna are prevalent for most of the book as well. I loved reading about the two of them in Kiss of Snow, but in this book we really get to see how they have settled into life now that they have mated. We knew that Sienna would be able to handle Hawke with all of his alpha behavior, but I liked seeing them make every day decisions together and how they interact now that they are devoted to one another. Hawke continues to surprise me with his tenderness toward Sienna. This quote in particular had me swooning.

"Satisfied-and very alpha-smile on his face, he placed his hands on her lower back again and they continued down the path. "I'll allow the pack to monopolize you until midnight"- a low murmur that was a rough stroke over her skin-"then I'll dance with you until the stars fade and the sun rises."

Hawke and Sienna are not the only couple we get updates on. Many previous couples get their own sections with their point of views and the information on where they are now was welcomed. Since the changeling's lives are so interconnected, all the couples we have come to know and love wove seamlessly into this storyline. I appreciated Nalini incorporating all of them into this book so we continue to see this world through the lives of all the people in it and not just the main couple of each book.

We also get a brief but very interesting look into the BlackSea's changelings. They are water based creatures and I was curious as to what animals they could change into. Some of the boys exchange ideas about this as well on a trip out there to meet them. Riaz starts the ball rolling:

"Dolphin changelings-what do you think?"

Riley was the one who replied. "That one, I could give credence to. Any number of humans nonwater-based changelings-even Psy in some cases-report being saved from drowning by dolphins. The survivors always mention how intelligent the creatures seemed."

"That," Hawke said, "assumes humans, changelings and Psy are the only intelligent species on the planet. Pretty arrogant of us."

"Jellyfish," Riaz said, after considering the other inhabitants of the sea. "Seriously, there cannot be jellyfish changelings."

Hawke turned to look over his shoulder. What the hell have you been smoking?"

I am hoping we will get to see more from them in the future since we just get a quite glimpse of BlackSea in Tangle of Need. The new mythology and changelings being introduced is just another reason why these books are so fantastic. There is always something new to learn about and it keeps me very engaged in the plot.

Even though a Psy was not the main interest in this story we still get to see what those devious councilors are busy plotting. I am very interested to see how they Psy come out of this whole situation they have gotten themselves into and who will make it out alive. I have no idea how Nalini keeps all of the information about them and the way they weave through the Net straight, but it is always so fascinating.

Overall, this book was just plain outstanding! Tangle of Need was an emotional story that tore at my heartstrings and reaffirmed my faith in Nalini. This is a series that cannot be missed and if you have not read it before I highly suggest that you start now, you will not regret it!

I was not very happy with the previous installment Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling Series). I felt it shortchanged Sienna and Hawke.

This book more than makes up for it and then some.

There are three main storylines going on in this book and each one is uniformly good.

First there is the main romance between Riaz and Adria. From previous books we know that Adria was in a bad relationship with a less dominant wolf that resented her for being more dominant than him. That relationship has really messed with Adria's head so she is super prickly around Riaz, a dominant wolf to whom she is very attracted. However Riaz has his own issues. He has met his mate but she is already married.

The trajectory of this story was exactly what a love story should be. Adria and Riaz have a very palpable, almost insurmountable obstacle in that she is not the mate his wolf recognizes. Because of their nature, Adria realizes how awful it is for Riaz to not be able to connect with that woman. However they are very attracted to each other. And although they enter into a relationship promising no strings, that is much easier said than done. Adria is afraid of getting her heart broken and is rightfully wary of being involved with someone who may view her as second best. Riaz has to battle his instincts that tell him he is being unfaithful to the woman destined to be his mate. Not only do we get to go on an emotional journey with these two as they find and fight their way toward each other, but Singh does an interesting thing with the idea of the 'fated-mates' trope.

The second story is the continuing arc of Sienna and Hawke. What issues I had with their relationship in their own book have been completely blown away here. They get a lot of page space and we get to see them fully in love, working through being together as mates and dealing with the aftermath of Sienna's awesome power. They have some wonderful, heartfelt conversations about their future expectations and they also work through nicely how Sienna fits in not only as his mate but also the female Alpha of the pack.

And finally the third storyline (and admittedly my favorite) is the continuing overall story-arc of the schism in the Psy-Net and how the various Psy factions are dealing with what is looking more and more like and impending, cataclysmic event. Although I have a real soft spot for the changeling characters, I admit from the very first book where we are introduced to the concept of 'Silence' it is the Psy who have captured my interest and imagination the most (Judd is still my favorite hero!). So the continuing mystery and plot arcs surrounding that race are really the narrative driving force for me in the series. Kaleb and a pair of enigmatic, rogue Arrows play a big part in the story and just ratcheted my attention up 1000 degrees. I am dying to know more about where they all fit in all this!

So yeah, this was an excellent installment and felt very reminiscent of some of the earlier books in the series.

It took me a long time to finish Tangle of Need. I just couldn't get into it. It was like a filler book for me. I wanted to read Tangle of Need as soon as it came out but "the powers that be" decided to go with a hardcover and since my books all have to match on the shelf, I waited for the paperback. I also refuse to pay the same price for an ebook as a hardcover so I had to wait and wait for the paperback. When it finally did come out, I bought it but by then I had lost the momentum to read it and other books took priority. Well now with the new book coming out in June, I wanted to for sure get it read.

Riaz and Adria were just "meh" characters to me. I really had nothing invested in them. I was getting pretty sick of the repetitive word "dominate" and I really couldn't understand why Adria was so torn up about her previous relationship. I felt they were rather boring as a couple. I wouldn't say that I don't like them, I guess it is more that I really have no draw towards them.

Now the great thing about Tangle of Need was that there was lots of fabulous follow up with Hawke and Sienna's story. That was probably my favourite thing about the story. I admit to fully wanting more story after their book, Kiss of Snow. Tangle of Need definitely delivered on that front. I also called Tangle of Need a filler book because it included updates from a few other couples that put a smile on my face. I love revisiting previous couples. The story also included tidbits of what is to come in the the next book. There wasn't a lot offered but enough that had to be given before then next book comes out this June 2013.

Tangle of Need didn't have too much from the Phy world but what was included was excellent. With further questions and an amazing cliff hanger ending, I am so looking forward to the next book, Heart of Obsidian.

Teasers: Hawk & Sienna's mating ceremony, still guessing on who the Ghost is (who I think it is is so far off the mark that nobody would believe me), SHE AWAKES

Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh
Paranormal Romance -May 29th, 2012
4 stars

In Tangle of Need, Nalini Singh continues her wildly popular Psy-Changeling series. Where two shifters with wounded pasts find unexpected love even though they are not natural mates.

Lieutenant Adria is a tough, cool warrior who is not afraid of anything. Except true intimacy and love. Her last relationship did not end well because her partner could not accept her dominant nature. This has scarred her confidence and she feels the terrible inconvenience of finding herself attracted to the newest member of her pack, Lieutenant Riaz. Working with Riaz seems impossible because all she can think of is how much she wants him. But Riaz has secrets of his own, namely that he feels bound to woman who is married to another. He does not like Adria or her hostile attitude towards him but when he is with he forgets the `other woman.' But the passion between them is stronger than any he has ever known. However, what will happen when the woman he thought he loved becomes unattached? Who will he choose?

The repressed passion between the ice cold Adria and the lone wolf Riaz is off the charts. The reader can really feel the tension between them dripping off the page. This story is atypical because Riaz has a potential mate who is married to another man. This other woman still draws him and this causes Adria to feel `second best.' She already feels like a failure from her past relationship and not being the woman Riaz really wants grates on her confidence. These circumstances make for a very emotional and charged novel. In addition, the author spends a significant amount of time revisiting other characters such as Hawke and Sienna and their budding relationship. The plot also includes the devious machinations of the Psy leaders and the deadly Arrows. All of which seem to have their own agendas.

Complex and compelling, this electrifying and passionate romance will strongly appeal to Psy-Changeling fans and edgy paranormal lovers.

After so many Psy-Changeling books, I can honestly say that I still enjoy them and am always surprised with how much I love the characters. I put off reading Tangle of Need because after Kiss of Snow I just didn't think anything could top it. I loved Hawk and Sienna's story, and to be honest I didn't really care about Riaz, and I had no idea who Adria was. But after finding out the next book, Heart of Obsidian, was about Ghost I knew I had to get this story out of the way. Tangle of Need blew my mind with its awesomeness. It was so good, and I fell in love with Riaz and Andria as they fell in love with each other. Nalini Singh pulled me in with the romance, while continuing to build this crazy beautiful world that she has introduced us to.

Riaz and Andria are both damaged when it comes to their love lives. Riaz has found his mate, only to find out that she is happily married to another. While Andria fell for somebody only to slowly realize that he couldn't handle her dominate wolf. Riaz and Andria's relationship isn't easy for either of them, and has many ups and downs. However, watching their love for each grow from enemies, to friends, to lovers, to so much more was fun and heartwarming.

I also loved how much previous couples showed up in the installment. We always get peeks into the current lives of previous heros and heroines, but I felt like we got a lot more in ---. We got to see how mated life is suiting Hawk and Sienna, and we also got to see some exciting things happen for Riley and Mercy. There wasn't much of the Dark River pack but plenty of time with Snow Dancer, and it looks like me might get some new changelings popping up.

Tangle of Need was another great addition to a phenomenal series. Nalini is one of my favorite authors. I have loved everything she has written and Tangle of Need was no different. I can't wait to read Heart of Obsidian and get more information about Ghost.

Over the last couple of years Ms. Singh has climbed up my author list to make a place for herself near the top. Her Psy/Changeling series created a world that I love to visit and introduced me to characters that I enjoy getting to know each and every facet of. That said, any series that reaches enough books in a single story arch (especially one with a cast of leads) tends to get increasingly complicated as multiple plot-points reach a head and past and present characters fight for page-space in an effort to move forward both the over-arching story-line and the HEA set forth in a single volume. Such a turning point in a series is often the make-it or break-it point for me as a reader, and I am happy to say that complicated and interwoven as it was, Tangle of Need was still very much an enjoyable book than gave me greater insight into the world that I love, the characters I adore and still managed to hit the happy ending that will always have me coming back for more.

Tangle of Need was not, however, an easy read. With almost unending shifts in perspective ranging over at least half a dozen characters, purposeful cliffhangers and enigmatic motives, the only way I feel this book managed to work as well as it did was the seamless and well explored world and society already created by the author in this series. I do not believe that this is a book that could be read and understood out of order or as a stand-alone--the history and past experiences with all of the many characters in this book too necessary to a smooth and enjoyable reading experience. Without this foreknowledge I fear that attempting this book would result in a fragmented story at best.

I was impressed with the level of integration in this book. As a rule I am not usually a huge fan of complicated story interlacing...if I have to have bloodlines and diagrams to keep things straight I am probably going to lose interest (why I don't read much epic fantasy), however Ms. Singh managed to strike that balance that had me absorbing the complexities of an escalating world drama while ostensibly reading a love story and catching -up with old friends. If I ever had any doubt of the quality of this series it was undeniably put to rest with this volume leaving me only with eager anticipation for future stories in this world and a hope that the very near future will see a wrap-up to this excellent story arch but perhaps not to the wonderful world that is the Psy/Changeling universe.

I am happy to give Tangle of Need four bright stars.

The great romance of Riaz and Adria is very believable to me and showed me the power of love and commitment once again. The author, once again, made the characters alive in their community.
I can feel the heroine's pain, confusion, and all her other emotions without making it too overdone or overdramatized. Adria is a strong h to me not just because she live up to her designation as a dominant but because I can see her as a soldier, as a leader, as a freind, as a daughter, and as a lover. She is strong because she is alive. Some characters, even the ones I like are forgetable but not Adria because the author presented her in a living community.
The hero is a alive in his pain, in his fight to move on in life and live, to be a part of a thriving community, and the best lover he can be. I like him when he was presented as a soldier, as a friend, as a son, and as a man. A solid alpha.
I am used to the past books where the characters follow their nature - mating bond - in the development of their romance. I this story, however, is a very different perspective because it begins against their natural tendency. Instead it comes from both the main characters' choice and it grows deeper from there. I love it.
I love the on going drama with the Psy community, the intrigue and politics and secrets.
However the reason the book rated only four for me is because almost half the book is dedicated with happy couples from past books. I do not mind reading the update on Hawke and Sienna because some issues they are fighting in Tangle of Need is connected with Sienna but the rest, I think are not needed.
The above is also the reason why this book is too close to an Urban Fantasy for me, if not for the almost rushed HEA of Riaz and Adria. I would still read this author because she has a unique voice and her style or stories are not so generic as the rest these days in this genre.
Overall, the book is a solid and satisfying read for me.

Reading Tangle of Need was a good/bad experience. Good in that it was an excellent book and bad in that it's going to be a long wait until the next one comes out. The main part of the book is about Riaz and Adria, both members of the Snow Dancer pack who have incredible chemistry between them. He unfortunately has a mate named Lisette who is married to and in love with another man. Adria has ended a long term relationship with a submissive named Martin that finished badly. Riaz is determined to live life alone and Adria wants to protect her heart at all costs. As the relationship develops between them, both parties have to re-evaluate what they really want in their future and what are they willing to do to make that future happen. Unlike previous couples, this one would seem to be the easiest to get together because they are both packmates and changelings, but the obstacle of the mating bond is a constant sword over both of their heads.
One of the nice things in this book is how Ms. Singh has given the reader a look at the relationship between Hawke and Sienna and how it is progressing. The level of understanding between them, the perfectness of their mating is exquisitely portrayed in this book. There are glimpses of other couples in the book as well but Hawke and Sienna really stand out without overshadowing the main couple. So much more about the pack system and how it stands or fails is explained in this book.
The tension between the changelings, the Psy and the Pure Psy people is ratcheting up and there is a lovely little cliffhanger of an ending that makes you want to scream with frustration that the next book is not in your hand immediately!

Nalini Singh has quickly become one of my favorite authors, her writing is detailed, rich and permeates through you. She has a way of writing seeps through your pores and grips you and just doesn't let you go even after you've finished the novel. I finished this book well over a week ago and at random moments I still find myself thinking of it. So many books it's easy to forget them soon after finishing them, but a N. Singh novel just has a way about it that just sticks. Her characters come alive before your eyes and whether you love or hate that specific character you feel something about them, you are not indifferent. I'd rather hate a character then be indifferent to them, because at least that means the author did their job and gave that character a personality. I absolutely adore Nalini Singh and this book did not disappoint.

I think this review is going to be a bit different than usual; as this book was a bit different from the usual Nalini Singh novel. This book is what I would call a transition book; it is getting us from one big event (the events from Kiss of Snow to whatever the next set of cataclysmic set of events will be) We are basically getting for a Psy civil war that can change the world. What makes this novel different from previous novels is usually there is the central couple with tiny snippets of other events going on with the Psy and maybe a few other characters. With this book, there is still the central couple Raiz and Adria but the "snippets" are much more indepth, longer, details and there are more of them. In fact it was kind of more like a J.R. Ward novel if you are familiar with her writing style. We saw a lot of Hawke and Sienna which I was glad to see because there were a lot of lingering questions/concerns from Kiss of Snow, Kaleb from the Psy popped up quite frequently and he is fascinating me more and more, Aden and Vasic are a team to watch out for, the Pure Psy aren't giving up and we see my lovely Judd which I am always happy to see! So there is a lot going on in this book to keep you GLUED to the pages. N. Singh does not hold back and keeps the surprises coming with this book. I think this would have to be a necessary book to read before the next book in the series whatever it is going to be, which I do not think has been announced yet.

So I suppose I should talk about Raiz and Adria at least a little since they are the main couple lol. So we don't really know a whole lot about these two coming into this book. We met Raiz in Indigo and Andrews's book and we know he met his mate which he can't have so he returned to the pack broken hearted. Adria we know is Indy's aunt and that she has been in a bad relationship for years with a wolf that is less dominate then her which has been eating away at both of them for years, but this is all we know about each of them going into this book. So I didn't really know what to expect from this book, but I didn't expect what I got which was smoldering sensuality and passion that should have caught the pages on fire! It was intense! Both needed to heal, both returned home to find that healing strength but neither could find it until they found each other and once they gave in the power they found in each other arms to heal and accept they were able find themselves once again, together. But sometimes old fears die hard, so of course there was some strife and tensions rise when Raiz's true mate arrives in San Fran single, so we get a fun love triangle for a bit as well. Sometimes I enjoy a good love triangle when it's done right, this one does, it adds just the right amount of tension without over doing it. Good Job, good job!

I want to make a small mention of Vasic and how much he is breaking my damn heart! So far he has had a small roll but he has always made an impact with me, I'm not sure why, but I always noticed him (see Singh making a character leap off the pages even a small one) but in this novel we see him more and damn it he's breaking my heart. His sadness but I can't even call it sadness because he doesn't feel, is so palpable. I just don't know what to do with him. Pobrecito! I think he's going to become my second favorite right after Judd. He needs a Changling woman, preferably a leopard, because I miss the leopards since so much focus has been on the wolves the last few books. Someone who will love him and break through that bleakness. Because, damn it he needs a HEA!

So I can't leave this review without at least mentioning the Ghost and how much N. Singh you are driving me crazy!!!! I thought I knew who the Ghost was, I really did, I was convinced and now, I realize I have NO idea and damn it! It's driving me batty! I WANT TO KNOW!

*So I struggled with the rating mostly because of the ending, but this is my final answer! 4.5

This fantastic read should NOT be read as a stand-alone. At least read Kiss of Snow first. I'm sure it could be but you would be missing out on a lot. With each successive addition to this wonderful series Ms. Singh adds more threads to the intricate tapestry that is the world of the Psy-Changeling. There is so much going on and there are so many characters that if you've not read the previous books you will probably feel a little lost. And you should read the other books because they too are terrific.
In Tangle of Need the SnowDancer wolves and DarkRiver cats are dealing with the after effects of the Pure Psy attack that took place in Kiss of Snow. Because of the attack wolves were brought in from all over including Indigo's young aunt Adria. When Adria and Riaz meet the chemistry is off the charts but neither are in a good place for a relationship. Meanwhile the healers are trying to figure out what to do with Alice Eldridge to bring her out of her coma. Did Henry survive Siennas cold fire? Now that the world knows the Laurens survive what will Ming do? Who is the Ghost. Who will ultimately win the Arrows loyalty? And most importantly how will the upcoming civil war and possible collapse of the Net effect all?

Tangle of Need is so much more than the romance between Adria and Riaz, two strong but emotionally broken Changelings, even that romance and how they had to deal with the fact that Adria was not Riaz's actually mate worked for me. That 'more' includes a significant hunk of the book going to Sienna and Hawke, giving us a look into their mated life and showing them solidified as a pair - and showing Sienna working to develop herself into the alpha female that Hawke and the pack need - this was wonderful and kept me smiling, it was everything that their courtship wasn't in the previous book.

Additionally, there is a great deal going on in the Psy-Changling world with some new alliances and some significant plots that look to change the face of the Psy-Human-Changling world in dramtic ways. I also liked that Singh continues adding to her world with a new set of shifters, lone and maternal wolves, and A-Psys. And finally, taking advantage of all that Singh has been building over the course of the series, many of my favorites from her past starring pairs and supporting cast have parts to play here - I loved seeing Riley and Mercy, Judd, Indigo, Kaleb, Sascha, Faith, and the two Arrows, Aden and Valsic.

So Tangle of Need was a great installment which continues to set up for the big finish of Singh's main story arc and it was also a reward for those of us who have come to love the characters we've gotten to know over the course of the series. I am so impressed that over eleven books Singh has managed to grow the series into 'more' than it started out to be in Slave to Sensation and has avoided falling into the 'old formula trap' that might have turned Tangle of Need into a chore instead of a treat.

Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors. I read everything by her as they come out. This latest edition of her psy-changeline series is a good edition.

Adria was introduced in a previous novel as Indigo's aunt, who is really like a sister. Adria was the one that married someone whose wolf was weaker than her own. Indigo used her as an example when she was nervious about having a relationship of her own. Riaz is the lone wolf who returned to the den after finding his one true mate happily married to someone else.

The story is good. Singh also adds chapters letting the reader know what else is going on the Psy community, including the crazy councilors who want pure psy. Judd continues to meet with the elusive Ghost. We also get more insight on Vasic and Aden, who are turning out to be very interesting.

My only complaint is that I'm tired of hearing about the Snowdancer wolves. I want new and interesting, now. I want to know who the Ghost is. I want to know more about the other shapeshifters that are only being hinted at. I want to know more about the human alliance. There is so much potential books in this series. I'm tired of being teased! I want MORE! ;-)

Did I love the book? No. Did I like the book? Yes. It wasn't bad. The problem for me was Nalini spend more time with other characters then the main characters. You never really got to know & love them like you should have. It seemed every time I just started to get into the story line with the two mains, bang!! Nalini moved on & by the time we returned to them, I had to remind myself what the heck was going on!
If your a fan of the series like I am, I felt it was a continuing of hawks story & an intro into the final book! So, you will want to read to get the info. Nothing more nothing less, because really, the two main characters were just thrown in there to have two new love interests! Maybe they will play a part in the final book. One never knows.

I had a really hard time finishing this book...the only reason I continued to wade through it was to get more info on the overall Psy/Changeling plot...and even then it was hard to finish. First of all, Riaz & Adria's story doesn't come across as being the main plot of this book. It makes it hard to connect with them. Then the major turn off is that they are not each other's mate after all the pointed emphasis and emotional/physical upheaval related to true mates in the other books...it's somewhat brushed off when Riaz confronts his supposedly chosen mate later on in the book where the effect of the potential mating bond is non-existent in that scene. If the mating bond is only a potential or predisposition and you can truly fall in love elsewhere, then why all the heavy emphasis in earlier books?!?

That annoys me, when authors emphasize an angle that forms a foundation of their storyline, and then changes the rules later on with very flimsy explanations that are almost in direct contrast of their earlier books. Frankly, the series could have done without Riaz & Adria's story.

SnowDancer Lieutenant Riaz has returned from Europe with his heart broken. He met his destined mate only to find she's devoted and in love with another. As he and his wolf try to move on, no female in the pack has interested them. Not until the fiery and fierce Adria. Adria will never again allow herself to fall for a man who can't handle her dominate wolf and treat her with the admiration and affection she deserves. Riaz is unlike anyone she's met before and the passion that quickly consumes them has her closely guarding her heart, for how can a man who was turned away by his mate ever think of her as more than second best?

There is nothing simple about the relationship between Riaz and Adria. Their scars run soul deep, so there are things that need to be confronted and wounds that need to heal before moving forward. Riaz is dealing with rejection from his mate, while Adria has made a break from a relationship with a man who was her inferior and it took a real toll on her heart. The range of emotions they feel over the course of the book for each other and themselves runs from angry and sad to happy yet cautious. Their time shared alone where my favorite moments of the book because it showed a side of them few got to see. Riaz was surprisingly romantic yet commanded Adria's body in a way that satisfied her need for dominance. Adria had a playful side I wouldn't have guessed she had and was able to help Riaz in a way no one else could.

The question for me was, would Riaz be able to love Adria unconditionally and not see her as the consolation prize. I thought this would be a difficult task because having them conveniently get over the hurt and fall head over heels for each other would have been too easy and unworthy of such a well written series. But Nalini Singh did a wonderful job of handling the relationship in a way that fit perfectly for the characters, the series and in the end, made this fan happy.

Another couple in the spotlight is Hawke and Sienna. The alpha couple is still settling into mated life and the events that take place in this book, whether big or small, reinforces their relationship. I'm always happy to see Hawke and Sienna and I really liked that the time devoted to them didn't take away from Riaz and Adria's time needed to develop their relationship. We do see other familiar changeling faces and there's a sweet surprise from one of my favorite couples that left a silly smile on my face.

In Tangle of Need, the changelings and Psy are dealing with the aftermath of what occurred in Kiss of Snow. The Psy Council is inching closer and closer to its end and the Arrows are playing more of a prominent role in things. There's not so much a huge decisive battle as there are strategic moves that impacts a great many people. What's going on within the Psy is growing more intense as the series continues and I look forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

Tangle of Need was fantastic from start to finish. This series is a great example of how paranormal romance can be done right and this latest installment really drove that point home. Definitely recommend this series and highly suggest you go back and start from the beginning.

It was going to be very difficult for any book to follow the previous book in the series, given how much I was looking forward to reading Hawke and Sienna's story (and how well the actual book turned out to be). "Tangle of Need" manages to fill that next spot nicely. While not as amazing as the previous book - it actually took a few chapters before I finally remembered who the male lead was - it's a very solid book that manages to keep everything going.

The series plot makes some interesting developments in this book. We learn a bit more about what many of the different players have been up to.

The romance was nicely solid. I liked that this book managed to put a spin on the couple - a changeling couple that doesn't involve a mate bond!

I didn't think I was going to enjoy Riaz and Adria's story, but I was immensely surprised that I did. Ms. Singh handled the situation with Riaz's mating bond very well. Adria's feelings were addressed nicely. And though it was nice seeing more of Sienna and Hawke, I think Ms. Singh spent entirely too much time continuing their story. There were too many subplots in this book and I think it took away from Riaz and Adria. If there was more to cover for Sienna and Hawke their book should have been continued or maybe a novella added for them. I do not like the pattern that is developing where there are two or more couples handled in one book.

With that in mind, my 5-star rating is based solely on Riaz and Adria's story, my rating for the book overall would have to be a 3-star due to the intrusion of all the other subplots that took away from Riaz and Adria.

Sienna Lauren released her X-Psy powers against the Pure Psy Forces to protect the SnowDancer and DarkRiver packs who took her and her family in when they fled from the PsyNet years ago though she knew this will speed up her death (see Kiss of Snow). Her actions have shaken up both sides in the hostilities over the PsyNet and bring civil war that much closer.

Riaz has returned home to his SnowDancer pack after a stint in Europe. He is depressed that his "mate" is married to someone else, but will not allow his broken heart to prevent him from doing his job for his pack. Adria also has returned to the pack as her mate dumped her because her alpha strength left him feeling emaciated. Adria and Riaz are attracted to one another, but both assume this is a rebound sexual need only. Ironically these two powerful alpha warriors, who willingly risk their lives in mortal combat, fear risking their hearts on love.

This Psy/Changeling romantic fantasy is a great entry that compares the big picture hostilities with the small picture relationships. As the war seems shortly imminent with its accompanying death and maiming, the pairing of two heartbroken changelings and a look at previous leads are doing as mates provide a strong counterpoint in the fabulous Singh mythos.

I love this series so much, at this point, it doesn't matter what the book is, anything about either the Psy/Changeling packs and I'm going to read it. I am so invested now in the whole Psy/Changling/Human Alliance storyline and I love all the characters of both the SnowDancer and DarkRiver packs. I'm especially loving the Hawke/Sienna relationship!!! I would like to see more of Lucas and Sasha though.

Anyway, it was interesting learning more about Psy Kaleb and the two other Psy Arrow soldiers, Aden and Vasic. Can't wait to learn more about them.

I would have loved to give this a 5 star rating, but the romance between Riaz and Adria just did not work for me. The relationship between these two just seemed to based on sex and nothing more. In my opinion, these two are the worst couple in this series. I think the reason that the romance did not work for these two was because Ms. Singh did not devote enough of the book to their romance.

So, why did I give this book a almost perfect rating???

What I loved about this book was all the other continuing stories. We find out more about Sienna and Hawke, Riley and Mercy relationship. And of course, the super star Judd has appearances in this book. If you are new to the Psy/Changeling books I think that this book will be confusing, but if you enjoy the books in this series I would recommend purchasing this book. I can't wait to see what books are next in this great series. Ms Singh has a great talent and her Psy/Changeling books are one of the best is paranormal romance.

Tangle of Need was a really fantastic book. I am constantly amazed how Nalini Singh (who is one of my very favorite authors) can continue to come up with new and original themes for her stories. I always fall a little in love with her heroes and Riaz did not fail me. I just wish it didn't end on a cliffhanger; a year is an awfully long time to wait when you are involved with the characters as much as I am. I won't bother going over the specifics of the story since other reviewers have already done that, I'll just say that this book continued the thread that ran through all the previous books and left me wanting more. I am so glad that I got to read Tangle of Need and I highly recommend that other lovers of paranormal romance do so also.

Tangle of Need is the 11th book in Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series. When I started this book, I felt it would be a letdown after reading Kiss of Snow. I adored Hawke and Sienna. But I have to say, Nalini does it again. It is amazing how she continues flawlessly the storyline, and brings in a new romantic couple.

Tangle of Need belongs to Riaz and Adria, both wolves from Snow Dancer. Yes, we stay with the wolves in this book. We do get to see some of the Dark River leopards, but this book is mostly the Snow Dancers.

What I loved the most about this book, was that though we got to enjoy the romance between two dominant wolves in Riaz and Adria, we saw a lot of Hawke and Sienna. It was so great to spend time after their mating ceremony in Kiss of Snow with them. Love love them together. We get to see Mercy and Riley also, and that was fun...with a special surprise coming their way. Lucas and Sascha, even a funny scene with Faith. Of course we also spend time with Judd..he has turned into a wonderful character. We also see so many other Snow Dancers, and that is something Nalini does so well. She has great characters, and uses them so well.

Riaz is a Snow Dancer Lieutenant, who found his mate, only to find her married and in love with someone else. This accounts for his belligerent attitude early on. Adria, who is Indigo's aunt, is a top Snow Dancer soldier. She broke up with her dominant other, and finds herself totally attracted to Riaz. But Adria fights this, as she wants nothing to do with another dominant man, whom she feels she cannot trust. So at the start, both do not like each other, and try to avoid any contact. But suffice to say, that doesn't happen and the two are drawn to each other, especially sexually. There are difficult times ahead, but as they begin to learn to enjoy their sex, learn about the other, things begin to change. It is really nice to see how Adria totally understands the dilemma Riaz is in having met and rejected by his true mate. She becomes more sympatric towards him, and also finds herself falling in love with him. Adria is willing to break her own heart, to allow Riaz to have his happy ending. But Riaz also begins to fall in love with Adria, and despite his unable to do the mating bond, he fights to keep her. This is really a very nice romance.

The story continues with the Human Alliance; the Pys Council, fighting each other; more changelings packs trying to form alliances with Snow Dancer and Dark River; and the Pure Psy group, all trying to assume control. Three main Psy characters had a bigger part in this story, Kaleb, Vasic and Aden. I expect to see more of them, perhaps their own stories along the way. Of course, the mystery continues as to who is the Ghost. This part of the story with the pys was exciting and we do learn a lot more, and Nalini slowly brings us along. The ending was excellent, even to the last surprising page. This was such an enjoyable book, seeing our favorites, and with everything flawlessly falling into place. I can't get enough of Nalini Singh and this wonderful series.

Nilini Singh does it again with another Psy-Changeling story. This story is about Adria and Riaz, and watching them both try and pull the other out of their haunted past.

I really enjoyed this story because of the mating aspect. Every couple that has been made in this series has a very strong personality, how they get together is part of the fun of reading this series.

The books have been growing and growing towards something major. I did find myself racking my brain over everything I had read in the past. It has been awhile since I have read the series. I devoured the first 10 book in about a months time.

I cannot wait to see what Nalini comes up with next.

When I finished reading Nalini Singh's Tangle of Need, the eleventh book in her Psy-Changeling series, my jaw dropped and I did a little Snoopy Dance in my seat. The reason is the last three pages. But since revealing what occurs in those pages are big BIG spoilers, and allude to possibility of who the hero of the next book will be (I get down on my knees and pray it's who I think it is because, I AM THIS CHARACTER'S BIGGEST FAN. Ahem).

I've said it time and again, when it comes to Nalini's Psy-Changeling books, I can't praise them enough. I've enjoyed some more than others, but with Tangle of Need, Nalini is again tying up loose ends and the countdown has begun to finish this series with what will be explosive results. For me it's no longer about the primary romance. It's all the steps, very concentrated and planned out steps, to the final outcome of the Psy community and how the changelings and humans will rise up and defeat the silence the Psy has created as their idea as to what peace and harmony should be. There's big cracks within the Psy community and with their leaders. This is shown in Tangle of Need as we see plans for the battle that's going to have a massive ripple effect for everyone involved. But as everyone trains for this upcoming battle, and the knowledge things are going to get very difficult and deadly, there are moments of tranquility shown through friendships, family and the relationships Nalini has created with her cast of characters.

The primary couple here from the Snowdancer pack with Adria and Riaz who are at odds with one another. These two don't have a high opinion of one another, but have this crazy attraction where they can't stop thinking about each other and want to act on it. Both fight hard, and when they have time to play, they don't want their emotions involved when it comes to sex. But as we know, when two characters like Adria and Riaz get it on, their hearts will soon be intertwined. The moment these two engaged in a hot and heavy and sexual relationship, it's beyond smoldering, more so than any other couple Nalini has created. Adria and Riaz have enough passion to fill an Olympic size pool. Their love scenes are incredible, but at times I had trouble connecting with them on an emotional level. They didn't really fly off the page for me. I had more of an interest in all the other on-going stories such as Sienna and Hawke's mating ceremony and their life after their HEA in Kiss of Snow. Whereas I was a tad disappointed in Kiss of Snow, this time around I was completely hooked on Sienna and Hawke.

Many alliances have been formed within the changeling packs. We also gain more insight on the Arrows, Judd and the mysterious Ghost that has become a fan favorite. The biggest question in this series is the Ghost's identity. It's come down to two possible characters for me. Knowing how sneaky Nalini is, I'm probably totally off base regarding the Ghost, but when it's revealed who the Ghost is, which I think will be in the next book, it will be well worth the wait.

Nalini's writing improves with very book she publishes, and I always end up wanting more. Gimme Gimme now is my motto here. I'm beyond addicted to any scene with Kaleb, who is not what he seems and is slowing cracking emotionally as he has become obsessed in his search for a mysterious "her". I have an idea who "her" is mainly because of something special Kaleb possesses. This is a big clue (reminds me of Eve's button Roarke keeps on him at all times from JD Robb's In Death series). There's a mega, jaw dropping reveal concerning him, so much so that I'm on pins and needles wondering... as to what I'm wondering... I can't say, but it's one of the biggest spoilers (beside who the Ghost is) here, and what I believe will be a game changer when all is said and done when Kaleb gets what he wants.

Tangle of Need really kept my interest and shocked me silly with a cliffhanger of an ending that had me gasping for breath. Thank you Nalini, for making me lose my breath and beyond anxious (more so than any other book before it) for the next book in this series I can't get enough of.

Nalini Singh keeps topping herself with each new Psy-Changeling book that is released. I could not put this one down and Riaz hasn't ever been one of my OMG I LOVE characters in the series. This book completely changed that opinion. Plus we get to catch up with a lot of our favorite characters like Mercy and Riley, Drew and Indigo, and of course Hawke and Sienna. I can never get enough of Hawke and Sienna!

Needless to say if you're a fan of this series this one is a game changer. I can't say why though because it's truly spoilerish and would ruin the action. Needless to say, I can't wait for the next in this series even though Nalini has not released what couple are next.

Adria and Riaz’s story just didn’t grab me the way most of the other stories did. Again we had another wolf whose mate was unavailable though Riaz’s mate was still alive but happily married to someone else. I think it may be this whole ghost of the unattainable mate haunting the relationship in both books that didn’t do it for me. Though the romance didn’t draw me in the continuation of the war building between humans, psy and changeling continued to enthrall me. There are definitely some exciting developments and more revelations about established characters.

I struggled to decide if this was a 3 or 4 star book for me. I will say NS is one of my favorite paranormal/fantasy writers. NS has a wonderful imagination and can take you to a time and place like no other. She writes colorful characters that I just love to read about.

What I didn't like about this book was there were way to many story lines happening - New alliances & secondary characters being introduced, the changing Psy world and everything going on within the pack. With all these side stories happening I found myself frustrated. It took away from Riaz and Adria's story. They had a unique story but it got lost with all that was going in the book.

I still love this series and can't wait for the next book. 3.5 stars

I usually love this series but this book left me baffled. I really tried to get into this book but just ended up skimming. Maybe it was my mood at the time, but I doubt I'll ever give this book another try to find out. What went wrong?

First, the characters Riaz and Adria never came alive for me. At all. Their relationship seemed to violate every rule of mating and I was disappointed that they would settle for no mating bond. Perhaps Singh will have them develop one in future books but by then it will be too late for me to care. I love Hawke and Sienna but their inclusion in this book just seemed like repetition: You're mine, Yes I am, lets have sex. Ditto, ditto, ditto.

And then there are the dozens of other characters thrown around. They were just names on a page and I could never relate or even care what was happening.

Frankly, this book just bored me senseless.

I liked this book primarily because it gave me more of Hawke and Sienna. The Psy Civil War was at a minimum this time, even though it was enough to continue the threat of danger to the characters. Riaz and Adria were the main characters of this story. I liked them well enough. Singh has begun to focus more on fleshing out her characters and less on sex. Without sounding like a pervert (too late), I would have liked more of it between the 2 main characters. I loved how we got to read more about Hawke, Sienna, Judd and a little bit of Riley and Mercy. I think the series as a while is very enjoyable but would only recommend if you are already a fan and reader of the series.

Let me start off by saying I loved the book cover. It was such a reminiscent of how I imagined Riaz right down to the golden eyes and the scruff on his face. Yummy. Well back to the book..it was really good.

We see more Kaleb who I think is the smartest councilor of the six. I really hope he either gets his own book or we find out his agenda because the ending of the book left me with a complete question mark.
We still don't know who the ghost is big suprise because Nalini Singh did say she was going to string us around and she is and I'm biting my nails in frustration.

And then there's Vasic my arrow. My dreamy arrow. I feel so bad for him he seems worse then Judd was. The only person that keeps him the least bit sane is Aden and he doesn't even trust him. If he isn't next in line to get a book I'd do know who will.

Now the thing I loved about this particular story was Adria, I though she was going to be exactly like Indigo being that they were both dominant and family for that matter. But Nalini fooled me Adria had so many layers to her that I wouldn't have expected. The scenes when she cried broke my heart because I knew what it felt to have your heart completely shattered. Heres a quote from her:
"I'm worth more,"
"Affection, respect, tenderness, I'm worth all that, so don't you dare come to me until you can offer it to me."

Then there was Riaz. I'm not going to lie I didn't like him as much as say Riley or Hawk but he grew on me.He was blunt, loyal, and very lonely when came down to it. The chemistry between him and Adria was really pretty. I felt bad for the guy mated to a french women who loved her husband. There was no connection between the two at all, and I just couldn't imagine those two together. Maybe I was bias because I like Adria too much.

The only reason I'm giving this book four stars not five was from the lack of Riaz and Adria being the main protagonist. It felt like the Hawk and Senna show all over again. Don't get me wrong I loved reading Hawk and Senna but this wasn't there book. I felt like Riaz and Adria were short-handed because we didn't get to know them as much. Example Hawk and Senna baking cookies was alot more exciting then Riaz and Adria going to venice. It's sad but it's true, and I felt bad about it. Even so this book is well worth it out of all the eleven books this one took my breath away for more reasons then one. To realize your soulmate dind't have to be the one that wasn't particularly destined for you.

*On a side note whats the deal between Ben and Marlee?

Two broken hearted wolves have come together out of mutual need (for skin privileges) and understanding. They fight hard and love even harder. Adria, is overcoming the heartbreak of a failed relationship, while lone wolf, Riaz has discovered his mate only to realize that she is with another. Mutually attracted to each other, both struggle to overcome their past insecurities and must learn to trust/follow their hearts. While both initially thought that a relationship with no promises of commitment, ties or bonds would be easy, it isn't. As luck would have it, they end up feeling more than they ever thought they would...forging a powerful partnership that neither wants to end. Living in a world where things are changing and wars are being raged, Adria and Riaz fight to ensure their packs survival during a Psy war that threatens to end their very existence. As things slowly change between the two, Adria realizes that her heart is lost to the lone wolf forever.

This was my first Nalini Singh novel and I am sure that it won't be my last. While I was not familiar with her books or this series, I thoroughly enjoyed "Tangle of Need". I thought the storyline moved well, with characters that were engaging and likeable. There were a ton of characters so you have to keep up with them....but the main ones Hawk and Sienna, AND Adria and Riaz...you will follow easily. I highly recommend this story to those who enjoy paranormal romances with action/suspense. And I can't wait to read the next one.

Adria is a Snow Dancer soldier who has returned to the den after the messy end of a long relationship with a less dominant wolf. Riaz is a Snow Dancer lieutenant whose chosen mate, Lisette, is human and in love with her husband. The immediate attraction the two feel toward each other is red hot and sizzling. There are many very steamy scenes that are R18. Adria is not Riaz's mate though. There is some doubt they can have a future together.

Adria is afraid to fall in love with Riaz, as his heart belongs to another. The scars his uncompleted mating bond leave begin to heal though, and Riaz works hard to convince Adria he has no more interest in another woman and she is his choice. Then Lisette appears as the liaison for the Changelings with the Human Alliance.

Hawk and Sienna have a big role in the book, with their relationship being explored more. Other familiar characters also return; Lucas and Sasha, Vaughn and Faith, Judd and Brenna. There's a tightly woven plot that raises a lot of questions to be answered latter in the series (I hope). I'm really looking forward to finding out more about Kaleb and the breaking of Silence the Psy are experiencing. I also really want to read Vasic's story.

This is not a standalone story, you need to read the other ten Psy-Changeling stories to understand this world, or at least the preceding Kiss Of Snow to get a sense of what is happening.

***SPOILERS***

I just read the entire Psy/Changeling series for the first time, & finally finished up with Tangle of Need. I'm just reviewing this one book as a culmination of all I have read. I wasn't sure I was going to like this series as much as the Guild Hunter series, but after a few books, I think Nalini Singh got into her zone with them.

On the whole I've enjoyed the relationships, but I did find Riaz & Adria's relationship to be a little boring. The basic story of what happens when you miss your mate could have been explored a little more since that was something new. In fact, I found myself more interested in the BlackSea alliance, Aden & Vasic, & trying to figure out what Kaleb is doing & especially who he found at the end (just my opinion, but I think it's his daughter). It may be that the formula for the romances is getting a little stale. I realize that if people just took one look at each other & fell madly in love, the book would end up more like a pamphlet since there wouldn't be much to write about, but SOMEBODY'S relationship should go smoothly. I also don't remember if there has been any mention of whether or not a female finds her mate, or if the mating bond only comes from the male. All the women have been dragged into their relationships. I would like to see a couple where the woman didn't have to be convinced.

I noticed that some of the other reviewers have complained about the fact that as in Kiss of Snow, the main couple has to share their story with another couple. Personally, I like this idea. How much conflict can one couple have before they finally mate? It just gets repetitive after a while. For everyone who complained that Hawke & Sienna didn't get a full book, well now they have. The second half of their story is in Tangle of Need. I wonder if now Riaz & Adria will get the second half of their story in the next book along with whoever the new couple is. This way we can get a new relationship along with seeing how a previous one is doing. I just hope that we don't end up with a pregnant woman in every story; they're not that interesting no matter how cute pups & cubs are.

I'm hoping we go back to DarkRiver next book. I like SnowDancer, but we've been there for 3 books & I want to hear more about the Leopards. I also wouldn't mind hearing more about BlackSea & maybe a dolphin changeling or as Riaz wondered, could there be a jellyfish changeling.

I can't wait to see what happens in the war, and I'm glad Henry is (painfully) dead & can't wait until Ming, Shoshanna, & Tatiana join him. All in all, I'm giving it 4 stars.

which for me is any family member or close friend becoming intimately involved with the same people, no matter how much or how little time has passed. That aside, my biggest issue with this story is that if I read a Nalini Singh changeling story, I expect the mating bond between the two main characters. In this story we get to know Adria, Indigo's four years older aunt, who 1 year earlier ended her long term, unstable, dysfunctional relationship with Martin that left her emotionally scarred. Then we have Riaz who found his mate, but she's already happily married to someone else. I didn't like how Riaz treated Adria when she first suggested they should share intimate skin privileges, he tells her he doesn't like her and he wouldn't ever choose to have a woman like her in his bed. If a man said that to me I'm walking away and not looking back. Riaz calms down and Adria warms up, but there was always this background noise of Riaz already having a mate that was out of reach and Adria trying to prepare herself for the time when Riaz decides he wants his mate instead of her. I felt this was just a sad story, I didn't feel uplifted even though Riaz and Adria will have a long term stable relationship (if I want to read about connections like that, there are no shortage of stories). The best part of this book for me was catching up with characters from earlier books. If Ms. Singh does any more books like this one, I may have to put her on my 'to be avoided list' instead of my 'can't wait to read list'.

This wasn't a favorite when I first read it but over time..Adria and Riaz completely grew on me! While some of the bickering between them could have been shortened, their relationship is just as passionate as their individual personalities. That passion made for a great, gut-renching, and emotionally charged story that was hard to put down!

"Tangle of Need" can be best described as just another sequel, and not a particularly good one at that.

The main plotline (in terms of pages) is a lot of small, unrelated incidents in the continuing lives of "our heros" from previous novel. Many scenes follows the most recently happily married couple from the last book: a female X Psy and the male leader of the wolf shapshifter pack. We watch them make goo-goo eyes at each other, have a weding celebration, and listen to endless conversations they have with friends and family. Other scenes show us minor incidents from their every day lives of other couples, villains, and other characters. This is all yawningly boring, like listening to people talk at someone else's family reunion. The few new characters thrown into the mix arive too late. The plotlines were simply too boring and fragmented to recapture my enthusiasm.

The other plotline (the main romance) is between two wolf shapechangers. The woman is downright nasty. Read the first few pages and you'll see what I mean. Eventually in the book, the author starts adding scenes showing that this nasty lady can be nice, as long as she is nowhere near the leading man. Around him, though, she always reverts to an acidic bad temper mixed with blaming him for everthing. I absolutely could not like her...at all!

The other problem with the romance is the man. He is introduced as a strong character, but quickly turns into a wimp! The leading lady tells him that everything wrong between them is his fault, and he folds like a tissue. Ah, you're right, I'm a fiend, please walk all over me. Ick! He is completely unable to stand up for himself, ever. Sorry, but I want a man with some backbone.

Singh has written some excellent book. This just isn't one of them.

There hasn't been a single book in the series I haven't enjoyed. Some I didn't enjoy as much as others, and at first I thought I wouldn't like this one as much, since I didn't feel invested in the hero and heroine from previous books. Plus, it's made plain pretty early on that Adria was not Riaz' mate. He had already found his mate, but she was married and in love with her husband. But boy, was I wrong. Ms. Singh pulled me right into this story. Adria has too much self-respect to let Riaz treat her badly. AFter a couple false starts, Riaz comes to realize that he feels more than just lust for Adria. But is it enough?

I love the world in this series. I loved learning more about other Changeling groups, and Kaleb Krychek, and Aden and Vasic, and Hawke and Sienna. As always, the supporting characters are very important, and not thrown in to the story just so we can see them. They fit, and move the story forward. I can't wait for the next book!

I would only recommend this book to people who have read the rest of the stories and want to find out about the continuing story arc. The war, Kaleb's search, the arrows. I found that I couldn't connect to these main characters, maybe it was because I felt there had been to little introduction to them in the other books but this book felt very much like a filler couple to draw out the series until we really want Kaleb, or the arrows. However she is risking this reader getting board with the series altogether. This couple really should have been a short story.

I liked it eventually. I did not like that Riaz & Africa did not have the mate bibd and Ruaz was a grade A ass to her in the beginning. I knew he loves her but it took a while for him to come around and then she found it hard to believe. Go figure. I've read each of Nalini's books in this series this one just seemed to be more difficult to get into than the rest.

I have to disagree with the people who didnt like Hawke and Sienna "intrusion: into this book, I loved it. They are a very complicated match with the age difference and being the alfa pair I thought is was very important to see how they were coping. Plus they are such a fun couple and hawke character is too cute.

I think Adria and riaz got just the right amount of time focused on their relationship. as the story built I really began to care for each character and want them to be happy together and nalini did a great job of building their relationship but since they weren't in immediate danger from a threat since there was just a big showdown and this is the lull before the big war starts it was good that there book also brought in to many other couples.

Spoiler " I was jumping up and down with the news of Riley and Mercy's pupcubs the scene with riley and hawke getting drunk was one of my favorites.

I read Lara Adrian-Midnight breeds series and it was amazing and I am u huge fan of J. R. Wards black dagger brotherhood but I was dissapointed in her last 2 books because she was not able to do what Mrs. Singh was able to do here and that is to maintain the main conflicts story as well as this books love story and bring in some of the previous characters which I loved and couldnt forget about.

Also Judd is my favorite character in the whole series. I started reading this book out of order with book three Judd and Brenna's story and I have read that book at least 3x now. Her ability to help you understand each new character and connect to the new couples love story while maintaining the focus on the war and issues with the net is amazing.

I look forward to the next book and I hope it is Kaleb. I am also interested in seeing more changes in Amara. I hope both arrows get books and Since Dorian is my second favorite character I hope we see him and the rest of the cats in the next book because I am curious about what developments have happened with his son and Noor.

Other reviewers have done a great job providing a synopsis of the story line so I will refrain from repeating. This book provided unique, often craved, insight into the other main couples of Snow Dancer and Dark River, particularly Wolf and Sienna after their tumultuous romance in "Kiss of Snow".

**** SPOILERS ****

However, I had a difficult time connecting to Riaz and Adria, and moreover, to have a book like "Kiss of Snow" come before "Tangle of Need", the reader understanding of the mating bond has been expanded to now include those who lost a mate, and can now bond with another, and as a result, is left with certain expectations when reading "Tangle of Need". In "Kiss of Snow", Wolf finds "another mate" and creates the mating bond with Sienna, even though the person he would have mated died as a child. This leaves you expecting that another miracle will happen in this book and that Riaz's love for Adria and denial of the mating potential with Lisette will be enough to also create that mystical mating bond with Adria. I honestly hoped, prayed, and expected (when has Ms. Singh ever let me down) that there heartache would be rewarded with this beautiful bond that we spend every book looking forward to experiencing, and yet it did not happen. What is it about Riaz's situation that is different than Wolf's? Is it because Lisette is still alive? Has not enough time passed?

We spend every book viewing the mating bond as this ideal that our hero and heroine are lucky and considered worthy enough to experience, and yet, with this book, somehow these two characters don't get this gift. We are expected to accept that their love for another is strong enough to overcome the lack of mating bond, and "just as good" as being mated. I don't know about other long time readers, but I have a hard time accepting this change in philosophy.

The ending scene between the characters is poignant when Riaz points to a elderly human couple who have spent the majority of their long lives in love with one another, and highlights that they don't feel as if they lost anything by not having a mating bond, and that their love is just as strong and pure. The difference is that this couple was human, Riaz and Adria are shifters and therefore have the potential to mate. Riaz's logic is flawed. A mating bond will never equal a human bond of love because mating surpasses the barriers humans have within them and transcends their love to bind them on a spiritual, physical, and psychic level.

In the end, I feel cheated as a reader, I feel that the characters have been cheated, and I can only hope that with enough time and trust between the characters as they grow together, that the mating bond will also grow in time a well.

Nalini Singh is the best at writing about emotionally-intelligent, independent, strong, smart, skilled females and the males who love them. Nalini Singh's Tangle of Need is primarily about the romance of Adria and Riaz which is heading down a winding road towards HEA. The secondary story line offers a look into the relationship building of Sienna and Hawke - post HEA. Plus, all the twists of Psy/Changeling/Human political and cultural drama are fascinating. Masterful Storytelling. An EXCELLENT read.

For a book that doesn't have a huge battle or showdown at the end, there is a lot that gets packed into this latest Psy/Changeling story, TANGLE OF NEED. After the huge fight that ended KISS OF SNOW, it was a nice change of pace to have this book focus a lot on relationships and the new buildup for what's coming up in the future - Pure Psy bringing down portions of the Net in order to control it and the Psy.

Starting the story, I didn't like or dislike Riaz and Adria. I love the books that take place in the Changeling world so I was looking forward to more pack fun. As the story went on, I found myself completely drawn into the lead couple's story and their impossible situation. Riaz found his mate, Lisette, who was already happily married and in love with her husband. Riaz was broken inside and he refused to make any advances toward her, because to do that would cause pain to Lisette who was already in love with another man, and all Changelings cannot cause their mates pain. He suffered alone, until he finally came back to Hawke and the pack and became intrigued by a prickly female, Adria.

Adria had her own heart broken when a long term relationship she was in with Martin, fell apart. Her wolf never connected to him and the relationship ended badly, leaving Adria very gun shy about opening herself up to love, or even the possibly of love again. But she can't help being attracted to Riaz, even though she knows she's not his mate, she's drawn to him all the same and when she invites him to her bed and he flat out and very harshly declines, her pride keeps her back straight as she walks away, but it's another crushing blow to her own self that she has to work through.

Riaz struggles through much of the first part of the story with his attraction to Adria, but at the same time feeling like he's being disloyal to his mate, even though nothing can ever come of it. It puts Adria in a bad position, having these strong feelings for a man who, while he's definitely attracted to her, can never give all of himself to her. They do finally give in, physically at least, and they have some incredibly sexy scenes, touching in that they had both been denying themselves simple touch, skin privileges, and their human and wolf sides soak it all up.

I absolutely loved seeing how these two characters changed from page 1 as their relationship progressed. They both went from angry, hurt, hard individuals, to being playful and finding laughter in their lives again. It's still a struggle for them both, having Lisette always there on the perimeter, and there is no easy answer for these two. Nalini gives us a Changeling relationship that maybe isn't the "norm" for the series, but it doesn't lack any of the love and affection we've come to know and love ourselves as readers and the resolution for all involved was satisfying and sweet and very believable for these two people.

Hawke and Sienna have quite a bit of page time and they brought a smile to my face every time they came on page. The story is almost completely centered on the SnowDancer pack and it makes sense to have Hawke have a larger supporting storyline. His and Sienna's relationship is still progressing only now for Sienna, she's learning her place in the pack as the Alpha's mate. We get to see their mating ceremony, which was well done in its simplicity and party style atmosphere that fits in with the Changelings perfectly. Sienna has always felt like a mature character for her age, and that's even more so here. She doesn't want to be caged again or have Hawke demand things of her, for her own safety. But at the same time, she's mature enough and starting to make decisions that make sense for not only her and Hawke but for the pack. I came away from their storyline really loving how their relationship has progressed and seeing them figure out their new lives together as a mated couple.

There is a lot of buildup for what's coming down the road in the future with regards to the Pure Psy and their plans to take control of the Net. They "experiment" with that in this book and regardless of their results, I'm left with the feeling that it's just the tip of the iceberg. Kaleb still is very much a wild card. At times he acts like he's on the side of what's good and right for the Psy, but I still don't trust him. He definitely has an agenda and he's moving around pieces for the moment. I'd like to think he's on the side of the `good guys', but while I'm not convinced of that yet, he's still one of the most intriguing characters and judging by how this book ends, he's going to be even more so (hopefully) in the next book.

One thing that I always love so much about this series, in particular when the story is set in the Changeling world, are the Changelings themselves. I love how they all love and adore their playful pups and cubs and the tactile way they express love among each other. Many past favorite characters come in and out of the story. I especially loved the small part we get with Riley and Mercy and finding out what's going on in their lives. It wouldn't be a Changeling book if little Ben didn't have a moment or Tammy and Nate's twins didn't show up and cause just a little mischief. It's the small, family moments that happen between every person in the pack that adds life to the story and the series.

My rating is 4.5 stars - I loved this story, I loved the relationships we get not only with Riaz and Adria, but with various other couples in the world. But as far as the overall world and the next battle coming up, this felt like the calm before the storm. It lacked a little of the intensity in that regard, as it set up the groundwork for what's coming next. And the last chapter, the last line...I closed the book wanting and needing to know what's going to happen next. Another satisfying read in the Psy/Changeling series and Nalini Singh continues to deliver in a series that has had me captured from book 1.

Blog rating: 4.5/5

First I want to say that I absolutely love the Psy/Changeling series and always look forward to each new release. I had not had a chance to pick this one up yet (I refuse to pay $13 for an electronic Kindle version, even though paying $15-$25 for the hardcover sucks too), but after reading the spoilers in the meantime, I knew even before reading the book, I was going to be disapointed and I was.

There was so much going on in this book. This did not feel like a book about Riaz and Adria, but a book about everyone. Of course it was great to get updates on Hawke/Sienna and Mercy/Riley, but I could have done without sooo much on the whole Psy issue. In the previous books, there would be a few pages here and there, but in this one, there seemed to be an overabundance of issues outside of Adria and Riaz's story that really detracted from them.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

My biggest issue-and this was a huge one for me- was that there was no mating bond! In all the previous Changeling books, there was a mating bond, even if there seemed to be an obstacle (like in Kiss of Snow), but by the end of this book, it was like Adria and Riaz's relationship was as special as a human's. After reading how SPECIAL and WONDERFUL a mating bond is in the previous books, AND in this one as well, it was a real letdown that these two didn't have the bond. I don't even understand why Nalini did that? Just for a plot point or something?? because Riaz's real mate was still in love with her husband and was with him in the end while Riaz was with Adria, so what was the whole point and angst of not having the bond???
I will never truly believe that Adria is not second best for Riaz unless a mating bond comes in later on.

I's say wait to see if you can borrow or get this book at the library before paying for disappointment...

Before I start with my actual review let me just tell you about my thoughts and expectations BEFORE I started reading "Tangle of Need":
- I really didn't like Adria. She seemed overbearing, cold and bitter and even though I tried to tell myself that being in a BAD relationship could do that to you I just couldn't shake my feelings of dislike towards her.
- I was completely convinced that the fact that Riaz had already found his mate, but couldn't be with her would ruin the love story in "Tangle of Need". There are just some things that absolutely don't work for me in romance books and a man who wants another woman while having a relationship (or even just sex) with someone else is one of them.
- There was just no way any story could measure up to the standard Nalini Singh set for herself after writing a book as perfect as "Kiss of Snow". It's just not possible.

But since Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors and I just had to know what happened next in the Psy/Changeling-series I bought a copy as soon as it came out. Of course.

These were my thoughts AFTER I finished "Tangle of Need":

Nalini Singh is a genius and I'll never ever doubt her again!
I can't even describe how much I loved this book. It did definitely measure up to "Kiss of Snow". I was so convinced that the mass of issues and prior bad experienced that Riaz and Adria dragged into their relationship would make it impossible for me to fully enjoy their love story. But while there were some painful moments, their individual and shared developments were utterly satisfying and heart-warming. Unbelievable but true, this was a truly happy story. I found myself smiling throughout this whole book and at the end I almost cried some happy tears. But since I'm made of harder stuff than that I didn't. Of course. I just had something in my eye.
Riaz is just as adorable (in a very feral way) as all her other heroes and even though I had my reservations about Adria I couldn't hold on to them for more than 20 pages. She's such a strong and affectionate person despite the things she has gone through. I respected her for her courage and was amazed by the way she handled Riaz's dominant and instinctive antics.

What made me almost as happy was the fact that we got to read a lot about the Arrows (especially Aden and Vasic), as well as Kaleb. For the first time I had a feeling that I actually got a glimpse at the person behind the icy exterior of the teleporter, while Kaleb is still as big a mystery as he was before, but let me just say, after reading the last chapter of the book I simply can't wait for his book. The fact that I have to wait at least until next year is driving me crazy!

Other than that I was delighted that Nalini Singh gave all of the Snow Dancers, as well as some of the Dark River cats some page time in "Tangle of Need". Especially Hawke and Sienna have been featured generously and I'm happy to announce that they are just as great as the were in "Kiss of Snow". Prepare yourself for some delicious scenes.

If you haven't already ordered the book you should do it now. I mean it, do it right this second because this is a story that you just don't want to miss! :D

This is definitely not a stand alone book. So if you haven't read the others, go do it now. I'll wait. Okay? Okay. The thing I LOVE about the Psy-Changeling world is the way the entire thing is so beautifully nuanced and put together. I have nothing to add in terms of plot summary to the book description. However, one of the things that I enjoy about the progression of the series is not only the increasing complexity of the plotlines, but also the way each book gives us more time with all the different characters, and leaves us wanting more.

Yet another wonderful psy-changeling book. The background story has become so complex it takes a lot of space from the romance, but Adria's and Riaz's story was sweet. Some old characters got a little too much attention to my liking and some new ones didn't get enough, but that didn't make the book any less good. I'm eagerly awaiting for the next one.

I'm just going to add my 3 star vote without too much ado- the previous reviews all encapsulate perfectly how I feel about this latest episode in the Psy-Changeling series.
But I will say I'm disappointed.

NS is a fantastic writer and she previously satisfied all my paranormal romance requirements : strong leading couples, great world building, romance and hot sex, action and a continuing background plot all tied together with a GREAT writing style.
However, when I buy a NS novel I really want to be immersed in the lead couple's story and drama.

With this book you get a feeling of patchiness and too many short chapters involving EVERYTHING ELSE, it seemed. I truly hated the stop /start motion and just couldn't get into it, in fact I skipped and scanned those parts, which always tells me that the writer has lost me.

And denying a mating bond ? Oh come on!! I kept hoping that somehow their inner wolves would somehow do something to create one or...or...I felt truly let down.

I also refused to pay this very high Kindle price- I switched over to the store.de and downloaded it for cheaper (not much but still!) and now wish I read these reviews first and waited for the library book version.

This book would confuse any reader who've not read the previous books, so buyer beware, it's not a "stand alone", more's the pity!

This is how this book played for me and yes there are spoilers, but if you heed may advice and don't read this book you will appreciate the spoilers

1. Raiz and Adria hate each other, but inside are really attracted to each other and go on and on about this about every other chapter for the first 1/4 of the book
2. Hawke and Seinna love each other to death and are so glad they found each other and Hawke will always protect her. This talk goes on and on most chapters that do not have Raiz and Adria in them.
3. Raiz and Adria like each other but can't have each other because they are not true mates and they go on and on why they shouldn't pursue the relationship for the 2nd quarter of the book.
4. Hawke and Seinna love each other to death and are so glad they found each other and Hawke will always protect her. Again this talk goes on and on most chapters that do not have Raiz and Adria in them.
5. Raiz and Adria get together and are happy except for the fact that Adria knows it will not last because they are not true mates and go on and on about it for the 3rd quarter of the book
6. Hawke and Seinna love each other to death and are so glad they found each other and Hawke will always protect her. Again this talk goes on and on most chapters that do not have Raiz and Adria in it
7. Adria has to give Riaz up because his true mate is getting a divorce from her husband. Chapter and chapter Raiz is pursuing Adria trying to convince her that he really loves her while Adria rebuffs all Raiz's attempts during the 4th quarter of the book.
8. Hawke and Seinna love each other to death and are so glad they found each other and Hawke will always protect her. Again this talk goes on and on every chapter that does not have Raiz and Adria in them.
9. Raiz finallly convinces Adria he loves her.

I wrote the boring review so you would know exactly what it is like reading this boring book. Sure there is some action thrown in there, but not enough to make the book remotely interesting. Yes, the bad guys have some chapters that also bored me because they said the same thing over and over. Yes, other characters from previous books showed up, and they were the only thing in the book that I was interested in. I am sure glad I checked this out of the library instead of paying the over inflated price that the author now charges for her books. Too bad, I really loved this series up until about two books ago.

Welcome to our review of Tangle of Need, we have such fun doing our chat review Kiss of Snow last time that we decided to do it again! So read ahead at our brilliant and insightful look in to how hot Riaz, Vesic and Kaleb are Tangle of Need!

Suzanne: Hello Franilicious!
Fran: Ummm Suz I dont know about that nickname you gave me there, sounds a bit like anallicious dont know if I want to be called that you know...
Suzanne: If the shoe fits... Lmao!
Fran: lol! Now where's Annie?!?!?!
Suz: Hahaha would be worse if it was Annie's name. Analicious! Lol! Annie wiggle your sexy bottom here!
Annie: hahahah
Suzanne: Heyyy there Analicious!
Fran: See that got her to show up!
Suzanne: Anal always gets peoples attention!

Fran: Tangle of Need girls! Who was excited about this release?
Suzanne: MEEEEE
Annie: I am!
Fran: I was sooo ready for this book. Did you have an interest in Riaz after Kiss of Snow?
Annie: Yes, I wanted to know what would happen to him.
Fran: I thought he was sexy as hell and couldn't wait to see more of his alpha goodness
Suzanne: Honestly....not really! I couldn't remember who he was!!!
Fran: What??? Talk, dark and dangerous!
Suzanne: Lol I am the odd on out! He didnt do it for me....!
Annie: Uh oh *slaps Suz* How could you?!?
Fran: Well Riaz pushed all my buttons before and during this book
Suzanne: He was hot and stuff but he didnt get me going...
Fran: It's okay you have Riley for that.
Suzanne: Lmao! Damn right! I was most excited when Riley was "on screen"
Annie: I wish there was more of him [Riaz} though because I liked his um, determination when he got down 'n durtay
Fran: I have to say personally I wanted to see a lot more of Riaz and Adria.
Suzanne: I didnt! I thought the main story was far more interesting then Riaz and Adria
Fran: They were almost a secondary plot in this book when it should've been about them
Annie: I agree. A lot was going on and I think it displaced some of the attention
Suzanne: This book reminded me of Manny and Payne's (Lover Unleashed) book, the h/H were almost incidental. The story would have flowed just as well without them, they didn't add anything to the plot. They would have been a better novella.
Annie: Yes, Suz! So right! I totally agree

Fran: I loved the true mate stuff and how he didn't let that pull take him away from Adria
Suzanne: Yeah that was sweet.
Annie: I thought Singh did a good job of letting go of Riaz's true mate and making him fall in love with Adria.
Fran: And he was leaving all the little presents for her *awwww*
Suzanne: It was all very sweet, but I got slightly bored when they kept going on about there poor battered, shredded and holey hearts, someone really needed to offer them some indigestion tablets, they would have been right as rain!
Fran: BWHAHAHAHA Suz!
Suzanne: What did you think of Adria?
Fran: I actually liked Adria
Annie: I liked her. I liked her strength.
Fran: Strong and soft
Suzanne: Lol! She sounds like toilet tissue! Yeah she was okay I just wasn't feeling them
Annie: What would you rate the sex scenes?
Suzanne: There should have been more of them!
Fran: Yes I could've used more
Annie: I thought she did great with writing the sexual tension though. Singh is number one when it comes to writing sexual tension. No other can compete.
Suzanne: Yeah, she is good at that.
Fran: But you know there had to be time for the funny moments, I mean come on I LOVED seeing drunk Riley and Hawke talking about pupcats
Annie: OMG I loved that!!!!! Easily my fave part of the book!
Suzanne: Lol! I was thinking cups and pubs lol
Fran: No wait pupcubs? LMAO Suz, is it time to go drinking over there? Cheers!
Annie: LOL Im dying over here hahahaah
Suzanne: No as in Pups + Cubs = Pubs and Cups
Annie: So cute!
Fran: *whispers to Annie...* Suz is having shots while she's talking to us
Suzanne: Tequila only baby!
Annie: Hawke and Sienna did get a lot of air time though. Did you like it or not? Did you think the POV we got from Hawke and Sienna further strengthened their bond and relationship from Kiss of Snow?
Suzanne: I liked Hawke and Sienna parts!
Fran: Yeah, I think this book really solidified the relationship between Hawke and Sienna, you could see how they lived day to day...it was cute, loved the cookie making!

Fran: What do you think about the plot?! Where do you think things are going?
Annie: Honestly, I have no idea. I know big things are coming, but HOW...that's all up to Nalini. She has so many things going on, I can't keep track. She can write 12 more books if she wanted to
Fran: I agree. I know she plans to end things in the next couple of books at least with the original war and the Ghost etc.
Suzanne: It is interesting to see how the Psy are fracturing, if you think of them from the first book...its crazy
Fran: I think it's all very exciting, and we got to see a lot of Vasic!!! Puuurrrrrr
Suzanne: OMG yes! I am so glad you mentioned him!
Fran: Isn't Vasic the hottest thing? I think he's my next hero to drool over and anxiously await a book
Suzanne: I was loving Vasic, I wanted to snuggle him and stroke his hair lol.
Fran: I can picture stroking other things, but you know...
Annie: Wait, who is Vasic again?
Fran: The sexy teleporter
Suzanne: *gasp* Annie how can you say that!? I CLAIM Vasic!
Annie: Ah yes...but I have my eyes set on Kaleb actually
Suzanne: Yes Kaleb, who the frack is he looking for?
Fran:His mate!!!! I'm almost positive he has a Changeling mate
Suzanne: I thought maybe Alice, but I reckon I am wrong now, but I still think human and not Changeling.
Annie: You mean, Kaleb is looking for me.
Fran: LMAO! You think? I think by being a Changeling it would def make him change certain things about his ways.
Suzanne: But he found her in a Psych ward I thought that would mean human.
Fran: I love Kaleb too, I just know he's got to be the Ghost
Annie: I think he is the Ghost too!
Suzanne: I am not too sure, I think it would be too obvious...!
Annie: Speaking of Psych wards...What did you think of all the stuff with Alice? I was a bit bored with those bits, they were slow. Do you think Alice will have someone to love? And who do you think?
Fran: Wouldn't it be crazy if it was Vasic and Alice
Suzanne: A psy I think...maybe Vasic? Lol Fran! Our minds are one!
Annie: That would be awesome! UTC matchmaking!

Suzanne: Who do you think is next?
Annie: KALEB!
Fran: Kaleb for sure
Annie: Mine mine mine
Suzanne: I was thinking Kaleb as well
Fran: Actually maybe not...if he is the Ghost and there's at least two books until the resolution of the Ghost storyline then it has to be someone else before
Suzanne: What about Kenji! He was adorabke!
Annie: Oh look at you, Fran you got your detective hat on!I LOVED KENJI! AWWW
Suzanne: Thats if he [Kaleb] is Ghost...
Fran: Maybe him and Jem next? I want to see how he got that bruise!
Annie: I wouldn't mind reading that book!
Fran: I loved Kenji to. And I do think Kaleb is the Ghost, please pretty please Ms. Singh let him be the Ghost!!!!

Annie: Okay, if you could describe Tangle of Need with two words, what would it be?
Fran: Storyline progress LOL Orrrrrrr hot & funny
Suzanne: Psy Meltdown or even better... VASIC Mine
Annie: I would say...Slow Burn.
Suzanne: Oh oh, or even better... BITE ME...PLEASE. Lol
Fran: LMAO, I def wanted Riaz to bite me, that's for sure!
Suzanne: I want Vasic to bite me
Fran: So what are you looking forward the most in the last part of the series? I can't believe we have to wait another year to see what happens next!!
Annie: Kaleb. I'm looking forward to the part where Kaleb finds me, sweeps me away and we have hot monkey sex
Suzanne: Kalebs book. I want to know about who he is looking for and what happens when he finds Annie LOL!
Fran: Okay so we can all agree on this one: WE WANT KALEB, MORE, NOW, GIMME GIMME GIMME
Annie: Word!
Suzanne: Yep with bells on!

I hope you enjoyed the review as much as we enjoyed making it! I think what we can draw from this is that Nalini Singh has once again written a winner and that our harems are still expanding...!

The lone wolf finds love. The lone wolf found his mate but she was already married and in love. A second chance at mating or just love. Two wolves find love in the mist of problems. Another great book in the series.

I read the entire series in a row and cannot choose a favorite book because I am in love with them all. The author has created a fascinating paranormal world with a great cast of characters. Each storyline is unique and entertaining.

I love this series, and this book is a brilliant addition. While the main story is Riaz & Adria's story, and its a lovely story of two strong characters, the other aspects of the book are wonderful. These include lots of follow-up with Hawke & Sienna, a cute follow up with Riley & Mercy, more insight into Judd, as well as some truly intriguing stuff with Kaleb and the Psy Net's disintegration. I really hope that the next book is the story of Kaleb! I know a good book takes time to write, but please, please, forget about the Angels (which I really don't like), and just concentrate on writing the next book in this series???

I LOVE all of the other Psy books, but this one I could have done without. Roughly 2/3 of the book was about the counsel, Sienna & Hawk, and all of the previous characters. I wanted to read about the main hero & heroine. I would finally get into their story then have to get through 40 pages of other crap before it would come back to them. Also, I love the concept of matehood and your soulmate, ***SPOILER*** but Riaz gives up on his mate to be with Adria. This goes against the whole idea! Basically thay cant be with who they originally wanted so they settled on each other.

Bunches of filler, weak plot, boring read. I only finished it because I spent $13.00 on it.

Nalini Singh is true to form. Interestingly this series does not seem to peeter out, it keeps on being fresh and interesting, possibly as we get to know new characters. Can't wait for the next installment, feel kinda sad that I finished the book because I just want to keep reading about this group of individuals.

Well.... I hope the next installment is coming soon. I was left teetering on the edge of the cliff. Who is this mysterious woman??? I love love love this series. So many strong characters to enjoy. Such a fascinating world Nalini has thought up. Highly recommend reading this series to all my friends

I was diappointed in this book when compared to all of the others in this series. I have reread most of the others but will not reread this one. I'm wondering whether her other series is becoming more important to her then the Psy world she created first. That would be a shame because the psy/changeling world is filled with great characters that I want to know more about. I agree with other reviewers about the lack of continuity with the mating bond in this story. I'll continue to read this series but will borrow them from the library, as I did this one, before adding them to my personal keeper shelf.

I did like ToN, much more to be honest than I liked "Kiss of Snow" - never thought a book could be too intense, but KoS was .... at least for me. Too much action, too much emotion.
ToN wraps up what KoS left unexplained, answers many questions and lets you know more about people you came to love (or at least like ... eh, Sienna?). It also sets the stage for more plotlines, all very promising (Kaleb, Vasic, Aidan).

I also liked Riaz and Adria, very realistic - and beautifully done. No deus ex machina, just very human (or better - changeling) problems solved.

I loved every Singh Book I've read so far. I've just read the whole series in anticipation of Heart of obsidian. However, I just can't force myself read tangle of need again. I'm stuck. I just remember hating this book. My main memory of it is; WHY DIDN'T THEY MATE?!!
If every book (ok, apart from blaze and bonds) is based upon the main characters' mating bond, how can Nalini Singh possibly think she can get away with not concluding the book with one?
I also remember being bored for the first time in one of her books. For the last few weeks, I have found working hours consumed with getting back to the books. Now I don't want to read one. It brings the dawning realisation that this is not a good book. Necessary for following plot lines, but not good.

Agree that this is not mainly about the two characters who you would think the story would revolve around more. A lot of other stories going on at the same time, which I would have preferred as a story in their own right. Can understand the reasoning to write this story the way it was done. Gave 4 stars as it was well written as always. Hope the next book is better though.

I'm not sure how mates
Could survive being without,
Yet Nalini Singh

Has Riaz's mate
Inlove and with another
He is heart broken

Adria is torn
Guarding her heart yet longing
Too dominant too

Another great book
With an even bigger plot
When will Singh write more?
