I loved the main person in this book. He did a lof bad things, but all along you knew he was a good guy. I really enjoyed reading about his trials and how he turned his life around into being a caring person.

Although When Crickets Cry is still my favorite of Charles Martins books, Water from My Heart is now a close second! It is evident that there is true love for the Nicaraguan people with the telling of this story! Bravo!

I have loved all of Charles Martin's novels and Water From My Heart did not disappoint! As always, the story gripped me from the beginning and led me down paths to beautiful and mysterious places. A heartfelt story of love, repentance, and redemption. Highly recommended!

Awesome story with an amazing message. Touches your heart and causes you to evaluate yourself and whether or not you are the person you think you are. Also it makes you appreciative for what you have because although fictional it is based on true events

This is one of Charles Martin's best, if not THE best!! I would compare it with his earlier books. It keeps the ready interested from beginning to end. I highly recommend it and would give it a 5-star rating.

Another winner from Charles! Congratulations on another amazing read! These books make people think more about their own lives and why we are the way we are...and how we can drop the facade and truly live

Once again Charles Martin has written a deeply moving novel with layer upon layer of character development and richly descriptive scenes. Water From My Heart is a feast, giving the reader a banquet of memorable characters and exotic locales to savor. Martin's writing is compelling when focused on his characters and their raw emotions. Other than Rick Bragg I can't think of any other novelist writing today who better gives his readers a sense of place-the sight, smell, feel-that Martin does. I read this book quickly, engrossed in Charlie Finn's life, wanting to see if he found the longing in his heart he wasn't even aware he possessed for much of the book. Having read the book, I found myself wanting to immediately go back and read it again. It is that good. While I have read each of Martin's novels and recommend them all, this book, along with Unwritten are particularly exquisite, showing Martin's growth as an author and maturing as a person. Highly recommend.

After reading "Water from my Heart" and enjoying it so much, I ordered a couple more by the author and would like to eventually read all his books. Besides the story itself, I really enjoyed the fact that his books are clean books with no profanity or graphic sex. I just wish there were more Christian authors and great books like this.

I usually enjoy a Charles Martin book but this one is hard to get into and unlike some of the others that I couldn't put down. I put this one down early on since none of the characters endeared me and the story was difficult to get into. I was waiting for his next book to come out and ordered right away. I will probably go back to Water from My Heart but to me the best books hook you right away and you can't put them down. Not so with this one.

My husband and I flipped a coin to see who got to read this first. We are enormous Charles Martin fans, and we make sure we own everything he writes. And we've shared the love. About two weeks before the release date, a teacher in my building (I'm a school counselor) ran into my office between classes and exclaimed, "There's a new Charles Martin coming out!" Despite the fact that it's summer break, she drove 12 miles to our house to borrow the book when we were finished.
I miss the characters. Charlie Finn is a reminder that it's never too late to grab hold of the "me" that God envisions for us. His view of us is so much greater than our own. Charlie is that guy you want to cheer for and shake simultaneously, but ultimately, you love him.
If you've never read a Charles Martin book, it's time to give him a try. Your thirsty heart will thank you.

Charles Martin seamlessly wove the Novel Water from My Heart. The main character, Charlie Finn, is brilliant, and yet has made some life altering decisions in his life. When his decisions to profit from others cause consequences he had not seen coming, his life is turned on a dime, yet the past has a way of catching up to where he is. Helping a friend, he makes his way to Nicaragua, where the story becomes even more than it was before, looping full circle, we see Charlie as a man who is both on top of the world, and literally 400 foot down under. He begins to right some wrongs and lets the past become the past while coming clean. This story gives an amazing view of Nicaragua, into what life would be like on the mountain. Be sure to read to the end (On Digging a Well). Possibly the best Charles Martin has wrote yet!

A five-star author, Charles Martin has consistently stirred, moved, and enthralled through his many novels. His giftedness is not often surpassed, but this novel is a departure from his chosen genre, Christian fiction.
I understand broadening your audience to sell more books and to reach others with a less overt approach to faith; however, this story goes farther afield than that. Martin's character attains "redemption" from his miserable life by living "a better one", which leads astray any who are not familiar with the truth of Redemption.
The lengthy personal note at the end of the book explains what prompted the subject matter, but it's a shame Martin's Biblical worldview does not undergird the story.
I'm so sorry to see a great author take this turn, even as the novel is as well written as his fabulous "When Crickets Cry" and "Chasing Fireflies".

Another good read from Charles Martin. He continues to write stories that give us "fresh" looks at life that encourage us to live to the fullest. I also appreciated the insight into the lives, culture, and nation with which we are not usually familiar. I always seem to come away looking forward to his next work. Thanks, Charles.
