The grammar in this book is awful.
And the stories literally jump all over the place, with no rhyme or reason as to why.

Yet...it's endearing.
You can literally hear Drew, in our valley girl-esque voice, whispering these stories to you as you read.

And because I happen to love Drew Barrymore (we're even the same age), I really enjoyed her off-the-wall stories. This book makes her seem less "daughter of the great Barrymore legacy" and more "stay at home mom with a wild past."

It's a really quick, light, fun read. I loved the photos which introduced each chapter too.

Drew Barrymore comes across so smug in this book! I actually had to skip some of the stories when it just got too much, like the ones addressed to her kids. I'm not sure there's a single story that doesn't mention the fact that she's a mom now, even if the story is completely unrelated to that. Not sure if she was 100% honest all the time either.

I cannot find the words to describe how rich and full of heart and love and beauty this book was. Drew is upfront from the start, this is a collection of stories, anecdotes and memories that you can pick up or put down any time you want to. This is just dipping in and out of different phases and moments in her life and I love that. She is such a wonderful storyteller, using her own insights and charming way to describe her adventures. Like how her beloved dog Flossy taught her how to love and look after someone, a gift that now lives on through her daughters. Or her friendships and special moments with longtime friends, how she taught herself to do things we take for granted, wild things that she did decades ago that still embarrass her every single day, her total love for and sisterhood with other women, her tremendous drive to be a better and worthy human. I wish I could thank her for giving us so much, this was a rad little book that I wish was 5 times as big because I devoured it in 1.5 days and didn't want it to end.

Under the shadow of her divorce! I don't believe in eternal love, but I had to wonder about her at this very moment. She is in the news, and I can't really now understand what happened to her. Hopefully I'll know a little, and I'll understand that happiness is never a given. I wish her the best.

Hated to see this book end. It was like having a conversation with a friend that you haven't seen in awhile but you just pick up where you left off. If I ever met Drew in person, I would feel okay just walking up and saying "Hi, I loved your book."

I choose this rating not only because I knew any Drew wrote would be awesome. But I awestruck on how she made it out of the Barrymore family, that had such tragedies,t to become this awesome, wonderful, soulful woman. This book brought me closer to understanding who she is and how she became a great mother, wife, actress, director, writer and own her own successful production company. A MUST READ, NAMASTE to this wonderful woman who tells her story with respect to her family's tragedies.

While I grew up just loving Drew Barrymore, and even bought the audio version so I could hear her read it herself, I was very disappointed. As others noted, the disjointed chapters made it hard to keep an emotional investment in the book. You get to hear a meaningful story about her childhood and then one page later she's name dropping Cameron Diaz and talking about jumping out of a plane with her. Then back to her dad in another meaningful chapter, to talking about Adam Sandler and all the movies they've done together. Plus she uses the words "so" and "literally" way too often, and repeats figurative language many times throughout the book ("made a face like she ate a lemon"), something even more obvious to the reader when it is read to you. Lastly, I felt like she tried to prove a point that she's serious and proper and "a lady" even though I found her fun and wild years something she should be far more proud of. She came off as rather prophetic and a teacher of life lessons and I didn't need an actress/producer author to tell me that I am the only thing standing in my way, you know. I was more interested in her stories and not a mini commercial about why her makeup line is amazing or that you just "choose happiness" and so forth.

I was really looking forward to reading this book but found myself somewhat bored and only skimming some chapters. By the middle of the book the whole "lesson learned at the end of the chapter" theme wore old. Love Drew and sure she has much more interesting stories to tell. But in fairness, she said this isn't a memoir....just some stories she wanted to share.

This book was exceptional. Different from what I usually read, but it is very high on my list of favorites. This book is written exactly how I imagine Drew speaks, and so it was like she was in my living room with me telling me these stories. She had me from the very beginning when she said "And therefore we have all have stories to tell. And these are mine." Her life wasn't always wonderful, but the experiences she's had, and the people she's had those experiences with are amazing. Using words like "cacophony of douchebaggery" while talking about sky diving with Cameron Diaz, paint these very vivid images. Many different parts of this book reached me on different levels when she said this "Yeah, books, books were great! Books make me happy and help me feel not so alone." I felt like she truly understood how much I love books. The chapter about Flossy made me cry like a baby, because I am an animal lover, and the brutal truth is that the few years we get with our pets is never long enough...forever is not long enough. "Life with dogs is better. I just wouldn't have it any other way." The chapters about her children were excellent, and since I have two little girls, I could truly relate to the things she wrote about, and I loved this last line. "The point is you do your best. Your best every day. You do it, and you do it for them!" I think that's all any mother can really do. I could really go on and on about this book, and I desperately want to be best friends with this woman, so Drew if you ever see this you have a fan and friend for life.

I fell in love with Drew Barrymore when she was just 7 years old. My own daughter is Drew's age and I remember sitting with both kids in the theater watching E.T when they were little. Over the years I read about her childhood struggles, her unconventional parents and her movie successes, so I was anxious to read her new book, which she says -- isn't really a memoir.

The book is a series of short stories that follows no particular chronological format. Drew talks about her hippie parents - never married, neither of which were capable of parenting. Her mother would take her to Studio 5 instead of to school. She states that what her parents did give her was a "blueprint of what not to do with her own kids one day". She does speak fondly of her grandfather John Barrymore though.

When left to fend for herself too frequently she became a wild child and when her mother didn't know how to handle the situation she institutionalized her in a psych-based facility for a year. When Drew was released at the age of 14 she petitioned the court to emancipate herself and the court allowed it. At 14, Drew got her own apartment, a job in a coffeehouse and dropped out of school.

Drew shares stories of her younger days, her professional life, exploring religion in India, skydiving, her visits to Africa and her sponsoring a child with AIDS, and how the experience made her realize she felt ready for motherhood. She shares stories about how she met her husband Will and how welcoming and loving his family was, and how for the first time in her life she felt she was truly part of a family. She claims that she "hit the in-law jackpot". Drew and her husband have two little girls, Frankie and Olive.

Because of the lack of a structured format this book never felt like a traditional memoir. Her story is clearly tempered and written knowing that her daughters will read this book down the road. It's clear that all of the challenges that Drew faced as a child made her more resilient and gave her a "never give up" attitude. I loved reading about her love of animals and her experiences with her own pets, as well as her experiences and love of motherhood. The stories feel genuine and heartfelt. So happy I listened to this one - narrated by the author herself.

This book is not a biography or sequential story. It is random recollections shared by Drew. She writes as we have come to know her from various television interview appearances, meaning straight forward, as she speaks, nothing pretentious or over the top. It is not a “tell all”. She shares her thoughts surrounding each vignette, each can be read in any order, no priority. There is no thread that weaves to the end. When done, the reader cannot say, yes, I see clearly why Drew is Drew. It a collection of various stories she has shared about random times in her life. It is similar to getting to know a new person. You do not sit down and have them tell you everything that happened to them in order. Each time you meet, something new is shared. There are pictures at the start of each chapter, sometimes having to do with the chapter topic, sometimes not.

I found it interesting, but I’m a sequential type of person and would have enjoyed her biography more. She clearly said it is NOT a biography and I respect this. I borrowed the ebook and would not have purchased because for the purchase price, my preference for biography over random accounts takes precedence for my dollars, and entertaining when borrowed.

Growing into mature womanhood requires an open heart, courage and years of hard work. I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book, but I'm glad I did. (Reviewer's confession: This straight, married mother of two has always had a girl-crush on Drew Barrymore.)

If you want a gossipy, score-settling Hollywood exposé wallowing in bathos and dysfunction, go read Perez Hilton. This is an uplifting memoir that elides the harrowing grind of addiction to focus instead on joy, gratitude and lessons learned.

"Wildflower" is a gracious, man-celebrating testament to happy feminism and the rewards of hard work. The narrative reminds me of the actress herself: effervescent, skimming from topic to topic like like a dragonfly, and always delightful to watch.

If occasional profanity offends you, maybe you need to get out more, but there is some in the book. I recommend it to ladies young and young-at-heart, as well as men who like a stand-up woman.

As an actress, I love Drew Barrymore's work. One of my favorite movies of all time is Ever After. As a writer and narrator (I listened to this), she sucks.

I knew it was going to be stories of her life, but I felt like she was all over the place! It seems she didn't grow up with a lot of order to her life and it shows. Because of this, I was confused a few times on whether or not she had kids when she was telling certain stories or at what point in her life these experiences happened. Also, her voice actually got annoying after a bit. Maybe 6 discs was a little much to listen to over a short time (I listened to 4 of them today alone) and that's why it bothered me?

If she tried writing a novel I might read it because she has had some fun experiences that she could reference, but I would not read another biography of hers if she wrote one.

I downloaded the audio version of Drew's book from our local library, and while I've found her anecdotes to be insightful and often sweet, I simply cannot abide her constant screaming and yelling into my ear(phones). I am serious. She periodically punctures her narrative with loud ARRRRRRGHHHHHHS (as if that is how she wrote them) and even long, drawn out screams. It's ridiculous. I get that she's attempting to be stream of consciousness in her writing - writing like she talks, as it were - but truly, for the audio version she could have eliminated the screams and yells which had me constantly grasping at my earphones to jerk them out of my ears. I'm guessing her friends think she is endearing and cute when she does this in her real life, but in all honesty, Drew, it just makes you seem like a silly teenager. Where was the producer of this audio version with the nerve to tell Drew to lay off the screaming and yelling? Too fearful of offending a celebrity, I assume. I'm half-way through the audio and at this point, I think I've had all I can take. I may try the print or eBook version, where I can bet that she wrote out all those screams on the page, but I won't have to endure them in my ear.

I tried VERY hard to like this book--I think the Drew Barrymore we see in movies seems like a very cute, sweet, down to earth woman. Sadly, I took quite the opposite away after reading about her life. I quite frankly felt that she wrote this book to take repeated jabs at her mother for not providing her with the perfect family she wished and hoped for as a child. Every single chapter had a reference of how her mother had done her wrong, and while yes, many of the things are legitimate claims, there are some things that are just ridiculous. For example, she is disappointing and angry towards the end that her mother never wrote her a note in her lunch box and sometimes forgot to give her lunch money or a good lunch---THAT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OF US. Not worth taking jabs at your parents over for years. It just seemed like she still has severely deep seeded issues and is very bitter. Not what I expected at all.

I have always been drawn to Drew’s spirit. She is, as the title declares, a real wildflower. I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was beautifully written in a way that makes me want to get back into writing. The way she described things so vividly made me feel like I was with her with every essay about her life. I feel like Drew could very easily be a very good friend of mine. Wow is her story relatable! She talked about her emancipation at a young age and coming into herself and adulthood on her own. It is very coming of age in a way. I laughed out loud; I teared up; I felt humbled. The only thing that bothered me about this book is the the order the essays are told in. I feel like it really jumped around her life and I would have perhaps enjoyed it a little more if it went in chronological order but now think about it, Drew may not be a chronological order kind of person making the story more her in a way which I can appreciate.

Overall I really loved this book and I recommend it to everyone!

I loved Drew Barrymore before I read her book and even more now after reading it. She appears so down to earth and funny. I bet she would be so fun to hang out with. Also I am so impressed that she has such great insight into being a great parent, especially after not having solid role models. We need to adapt to our babies/kids lifestyles and not the other way around. Having not had an ideal upbringing myself I felt like I Could really relate to her. When you don't have loving supportive family growing up it either breaks you or makes you stronger. And you appreciate a good loving partner and creating your own family all the more. If you like Drew Barrymore you will like this book. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is I really hoped Drew would touch on animal charities as well as human charities. She is an obvious animal lover and it is so important to support our animal shelters. Very enjoyable book.

Surprisingly well written, Drew is self-deprecating and sweet and speaks ill of no one (though she certainly could, and deservedly so). Despite a perilous upbringing she supports the mother from whom she was legally emancipated at age 14, and she cared for her homeless father before he died. She overcame great pitfalls and comes across as funny, driven and completely willing to make herself the butt of the joke. I read some less than positive reviews because of the positive tone of this book; I, however, salute this woman as a cheerful, brave and funny survivor. A good writer too.

After reading some pretty heavy material the last few days I decided to read something light hearted and Drew Barrymore delivers in this book filled with short stories about her life! She doesn’t go into detail about all the difficulties she faced when she was younger, this is simply a book where she shares her stories about life, love, family, adventure and discovering who you truly are! It was a quick read that put a smile on my face. I would recommend this book if you are a fan!

Wildflower by Drew Barrymore is an outstanding book. Throughout this book you will be laughing one moment, then sad the next thinking about her childhood. But even though things may have been difficult, Drew remembers it with a fondness, and thankful, so that she knows what she wants to do different with her daughters.

As you go through the book you are transported to different times in Drew's life that she highlights which gives you a good idea of who are the important people in her life and how they have helped her to become the woman, mother, and wife she is today.

Believe me this book does not read like a typical memoir. You will find yourself turning the pages and not wanting to stop. It is well worth the read, after all aren't you curious how the little girl from E.T. became the talented woman she is today?

I give author Drew Barrymore a lot of credit for allowing her readers the opportunity to see a very private side of herself. My biggest problem with the book is the writing style, as it is full of short, choppy sentences. I know it is important for a memoir to maintain the subject's voice, but you would think that an actress this accomplished would be able to convey her thoughts in a more clear and concise manner. This is the story of her life with her families, both past and present. The love that she has for her children is palatable, but her husband is largely absent from these pages. I enjoyed the background information on the collaboration between Drew and Adam Sandler, as I am a big fan of the movies they have done together. There are really no startling revelations here, but I did like getting to know the person behind the famous face.

This book was lame. It's a book where everyone she worked with was great and everyone got along with no drama or fighting. I couldn't get through more than a quarter of the audio book before I bailed. From other reviews I made the right move. I want to hear about her crazy mom, her drinking and drugging at 10! She has clearly over come all these obstacles to thrive in a cut throat business. This was equivalent to Rob Lowe's book Love Life which was watered down to make everyone look good. Hopefully they get her to write a real book about her crazy childhood.

This book is shallow, disjointed and poorly written. There is neither eloquence nor comedy. It seems to be filled with self-centered childish observations with very little depth. Drew seems to flat out say complimentary things rather than illustrate them in any way- it is almost like she is trying to prove herself. The audiobook version is disappointingly annoying and angry sounding- Maybe reading it may have made it less unpleasant.

Drew Barrymore wants you to know that she has amazing an amazing husband, friends, children, in-laws and co-workers. She also wants you to know that her wild days, and the fun stories that surely came out of them are long gone and everything she experienced in her youth is something she is going out of her way to ensure her own children will never experience. Sprinkled in the repetitiveness of all this is enough fun tidbits to keep you reading but overall it feels like a wasted opportunity to share something more then just having each chapter be dedicated to someone she wants to gush about in her life.

Here's my memory of Drew who I knew briefly as a former Hollywood stage mother. They would have special screenings of movies for celebrity kids and their friends. At one such screening tiny, blonde-haired Drew came into our aisle, sat down next to my daughter and chatted and ate Hot Tamales. She was a very easy-going and sociable kid. This book was a pleasure to read on many levels, filling in some of the background of her childhood and adventures growing up but more because of the way it connected the dots for me to see how these events shaped her worldview. Following her career I had the impression that, in spite of everything, she always came out on the other side as an optimist. This book seems to be proof of that. I loved most her writings that reveal her longings to be a good mom and teach her girls to be good human beings. I believe those girls will be her greatest successes.

This book feels like you are literally picking up Drew Barrymore's journal and flipping through the pages. It's scattered, goes all over the place, but has a peaceful feel in its entirety. Some entries are about the mundane. There is a section on trimming plants. Some sections read like poetry; other sections are jarred by random swearing. It's quite eclectic. To describe it best, the book gives off a sense of personal affirmations. Barrymore's reading of the audio book is a big plus.

Listening to the audiobook and it can be screetchingly grating at times. I like Drew. Drew upbeat is good-but there are times I just couldn't take it. Plus so much of the material just isn't that interesting. Why do stars think most people care how a movie deal comes together with Steven or Adam or Cameron all the peeps they are on a first name basis with. We don't care-we really don't. Sorry. Gorgeous cover though :)

Okay, honestly, I am not the world's biggest Drew Barrymore fan. I actually don't really know why I picked up this book (I bought it at my local bookstore but I still thought it deserved a review online). I have to say that at first, I was a little confused. To me, the book read as unedited. I thought maybe it was a celebrity piece rushed out the door--but then I caught on, and I have to say I was amazed. Whoever worked on editing this book left Drew's voice completely intact. Once you understand her writing style, it's like you can hear her speaking in your head. It was an extremely literary move for a book that I thought would be a just a lightweight pop culture piece. It's clear that Drew has lived a life loving reading and writing and has developed a natural skill.

Also, I found the stories to be interesting (she knows so many famous people in such strange ways), heartwarming, inspiring, and even helpful for my own life. I guess I should amend my first sentence--I am not the world's BIGGEST Drew Barrymore fan, but I am most certainly a fan.

I was so excited to get this book. The first chapter was great it was nice to hear about Drew when she was little BUT the book really doesn't go anywhere. I love Drew and she is still one of my idols but that being said I do not feel like she was honest enough to make this book a great read. She has obviously lived a unique life & I would have liked to have heard more about her struggles with men, drugs, drinking and other 90's hollywood stuff as this is when I fell in love with her. While I am glad to know she is happy now instead of dedicating chapters to her children & in laws it would have been much more interesting to hear about her youth & life more in depth. I still love Drew but this book was a bit disappointing.

First, I wasn't the biggest Drew Barrymore fan but I thought I would give this a try. Now, I want to re-watch all of her movies. If you are even thinking about this book at all:

Stop. Don't read it. LISTEN to it. Drew reads the book herself and it is the most entertaining and endearing bunch of stories I have ever listened to. I'm constantly adjusting my volume because she's so animated -- she screams, she cries, she laughs, she swears, she's self-deprecating; it's amazing.

It's almost as if you're sitting down with her and she's telling you about her life over a cup of coffee. I could see myself getting frustrated if I were reading it because you bounce around from year to year but somehow it all ties together when you listen. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and I just don't want it to stop.

I SO wish that I could say I loved this book. I'm not sure why but I have always enjoyed Drew, as someone previously said, she does seem down to earth. I like her movies, her cosmetic line.. So I decided to give the book a go (I had the audio version) and as much as I did enjoy some of the stories - this is a collection of stories throughout her life, basically a memoir - some of them were not entertaining, they aren't in chronological order which made it a bit disconnected, and, in audio version, she's the one reading it which is a huge plus BUT can get really shouty at times. Overall it was an ok read. :)

Yes. This book skips around.
Yes, the grammar isn't perfect, but she writes the way she speaks.
I liked the fact that it doesn't go in order. I truly believe Drew is who I aspire to be! I'm sad to hear she and husband are divorcing, solely because she wants a traditional life for herself and family. She grew up in a way I can clearly can relate too.

Loved this quick read through and through.

I really wanted to like this book but the second? story turned me off and I didn't want to give her anymore of my time. I don't want to ruin the story I'm talking about for anyone so I'll just say......she came off like an entitled brat, calling people "tools" saying "f-you" under her breath about them and complaining that she had to hear them ask if she was working on any movies. No matter how rich, famous, successful you are you don't treat people like that. Honestly I'm surprised she put that story in her book because it makes her look like such a crappy person! She needs to come back down to earth and learn to be humble.

I loved this book. I was waiting to borrow Kristin Cavallari's book which had worse reviews when I remembered I wanted to read this one and I'm so glad I did. I really feel like I connected to her thru her stories. There wasn't a plot, so don't expect this book to read like a collection of stories build on themselves. I really felt for her when she spoke of her dogs being children. I really enjoyed it.

Ugh...this is a "how perfect my life is" story, along with occasional rants directed toward her parents, and her self-serving pats-on-the-back. There is no organization, the book just jumps from one idea to another. Even worse, the audio version is so slowly and dramatically read that I had to bump the speed up to 1.5x just to keep it from slogging. Barrymore *YELLS* so often in the book that your eardrums get blown out on a regular basis.

I rarely review books, heck-anything! That is because so few things truly impress me. But this book does, immensely. Yes- Drew does give into some heartfelt and genuine screaming. But that just made her stories and her journey so much more genuine.

It's so open. And honest. And, it touched me deeply. The old cliche is true-- I laughed, I cried, I sighed and I cut my eyes. But when it ended, I felt like a friend had left my home to return to hers.

Bravo, Seagull! Bravo!

I am giving this 5 stars because it is a wonderful book about an empowering woman. Barrymore had a rough childhood and she was rebellious and had a crazy streak. But she grew up, mellowed out, has better morals, and she lives for her kids. She has accomplished much, and been through a lot. She has risen above the rough patches. I loved getting to know her besides her films.

Wildflower is very sweet and very charming, and *very* Drew Barrymore. I remember the Little Girl Lost years, so it's really nice to see Barrymore embracing happiness and a beautiful life. I'll admit to thinking that this book seemed a little to...sweet... to be good, but that's okay. There is something pure about Drew Barrymore that lets you know every word is true. Wildflower is a real feel-good book.

I'm a huge fan of Drew Barrymore and her films; this book was honestly in my opinion interesting. While others like when an author stick to the timeline of their life step by step, I don't, I loved that she skipped around from different points of her life. That way it didn't get so boring reading about her childhood chapter after chapter. It was good change. I love how she talks about the different adventures she has gone through and the times she realized that what she was doing was in fact wrong. It's like as she wrote this book, she finally understands what she has gone through and the possibly reason as to why it happened. There are certain things that she mentions that certain people can definitely relate too. She is raw and open in this book which is why I loved it; you got to see that not every celebrity in Hollywood has the perfect life. Drew shows us how hard it was for her to grow up with the limelight and just how hard it was to get parts in films before she had major breakthroughs as she got older. Just because she was a child start didn't mean she got every part in the future handed to her. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who love honestly within a book.

I listened to this book on audio and it's narrated by Drew Barrymore herself. For the most part I liked this book; the stories that she includes in the book are not in chronological order though, which is somewhat confusing as to what happened when in her life. This book though is not highly memorable, but Drew does seem to have grown up and become responsible now that she is a mother to 2 young daughters, Olive and Frankie.

2.75 - 3.0 stars (on Goodreads).

I've always liked Drew Barrymore and thought she was a quirky person. I'm glad I got to listen to this book with Drew reading it. I learned so much about her and the struggles she went through as a child actor, becoming an emancipated adult at the age of 14 and not knowing how to do anything including laundry and now as a Mom. She is a beautiful soul and I like her even more knowing what kind of person she is, is the person I thought she might be. I think she would be a lot of fun to hang out with and swap stories.

I enjoyed the book. I wish it was longer, filled with more stories. I always thought Drew's life was pretty cool as we all watched her grow up. I am sure there are many, many more stories in there. It was great reading the processes in which she went through to work out the issues she was having at each time in her life. I am so happy she came out on the bright side. I wish her nothing but continued happiness as surpasses overtakes her inner demons, one by one. A true treasure and a great read!

I enjoyed learning about Drew Barrymore's life in this poignant and completely original memoir. The love she has for her daughters, her husband, and the friends and family in her life is sweet. Although the book isn't in a order from the beginning of her life until now, she does tell stories that jump off the page and the lessons she learned throughout her life, from difficult memories to good ones. I enjoyed this book, the format it was in, and the lessons of her life that resonate with me, and highly recommend it!!

A good easy read with some inspiring stories. I think there could have been more, she clearly left many things out. Maybe they were too personal but maybe they would have resonated with readers. It definitely was in her voice, not ghost written or polished up. I personally prefer a biography to be written in order of time, not jumping around.

Writing style is okay and overall it's interesting, just not amazing. It was a fast read. I agree with the other 3 star reviewers that this really meandered a lot and didn't have a common thread, and you felt like she just wanted to say nice things about everybody and not get into the really interesting stuff. The stories could have been either funnier, or more serious. This did fall a bit flat. This would be a good read for a plane, as it's quick, as long as you don't lose interest. I think her first book about her early years would be a lot more interesting (I have yet to read it).

I am a prolific reader of memoirs and found this book to be an absolute delight! I knew virtually nothing about Drew Barrymore and only began reading Wildflower because a good friend pressed it into my hands. She said, "I know you will love this book!" and she was right.

Not much here. Would like to have the 30 minutes I used perusing this book (which clearly doesn't have a publisher or an editor's influence) back.

I like her, but this book is more like a rambling of her various, random and uninteresting stories. It doesn't really go anywhere or have a point.

I was reluctant to purchase since I saw some fairly negative reviews. But my gut was telling me this will be good, and I am really glad I purchased this. I went through it in a week (an easy read). Anyone who is a stickler for grammar or proper sentence structure will have a hard time, but I think her story was very interesting. I would not call myself a huge Drew Barrymore fan, but this book made me a bigger one.

I like when those who are cast in the spotlight can be humbled by all that ails the real world. Thanks, Drew, for putting yourself out there and giving the readers some stories they can relate to.

This collection of moments of Drew Barrymore's life that she chose to share with us is brave & honest. I find it interesting that nearly all of of these reviews indicate that she owes us 'more'...really? why? As an actress, she needs to chronologize every linear movement & penis entry? I am an avid reader of biographies. From an anthropological viewpoint, I found Drew's style to be very true to her experience, granting us her genuine take away, which is what I look to anyone I admire to deliver. Thank you, Drew. And at the risk of sounding like a woo woo nutter butter, I hope that Drew understands what a total feminist way shower powerhouse light being she is, due in large part to her wild child era...never stop being YOU!!!

This a a super interesting read and really not what I expected at all it kind of jumps around a bit from story to story and doesn't have a chronological flow but I like that it's more like a friend telling you stories then reading a book. Not a chronological autobiography. Random stories about her experiences, friends, and family. She is just so adorable, it was awesome to read about her life and thoughts and feelings. There are chapters about her husband (now ex) and daughters, Cameron Diaz, Adam Sandler, and her famous relatives, Spielberg and more. It was a good read.

I love Drew Barrymore and have for years and have been enchanted by her free spirit and have enjoyed watching her mature. No doubt she has had a lot of life experiences none of which appear in this boring memoir. Not at all interesting and gushes a bit too much about her husbands family - now her x-husband. I can't help but think she was locked into this book contract and just phoned it in.

Is it really necessary to have such foul language? As Maggie Smith's character, Lady Grantham, says, "Vulgarity is no substitute for wit." I've always found Drew Barrymore delightful to watch in a film or on a talk show. I was so put off by her constant use of the F word. So unnecessary to make one's point. It tainted my opinion of her, unfortunately. I enjoyed learning a bit more about her life, but the book was not well written and the continual use of poor language gave it a 1 star for me.

I thought there'd be much more substance and meaningful sharing in the book. Instead it's just superficial stories about this or that. I read this book over the course of a few days. It was lovely, compelling, and heartfelt. Chapters focusing on important lessons in life and the people who have supported and loved her throughout those trials. Each chapter is a short story with a focus on a specific person(s) in her life, be it her daughters, husband, Nan, her in-laws, or Cameron Diaz. I love Drew but have no clue what she was thinking with her collection of thoughts. There a lot of strange fluff and it is written like a grade schooler. The typo's start in the Prologue, in the first sentence. The writing style is strange and at times feels like one run on paragraph after another. Some of the ramblings were things most of us who watched her grow up already knew. The rest is not worthy of your precious reading time. Even with a great editor, I still would have given it two stars. It is not a memoir so you can read it in any order you want.
