I cannot recommend this series enough for young children, and this book has proven to be no exception. The children become so engaged with Pete's songs and silly surprises, they have so much fun! What a great way to promote literacy and the pure enjoyment of reading together! While the book may be most appropriate for Preschool and Kindergarten, we were able to get children up through the 2nd grade to participate in a Pete the Cat sing-a-long : ) The button song seems, at first, to not be as much fun at the shoe songs, but it does grow on you...and what a fun surprise at the end!! I have enjoyed a borrowed copy of this, and I cannot wait until my own copy arrives in the mail!

These books run normally around $18 for the hardcover so the price on the store is a steal!! The series of books always has a positive theme. Even though pete keeps losing buttons, he is still pleased with the one's he has left even when he loses them all he notices he still has a button its his belly button. Love the series and so does kids.

Very engaging series. I have been reading these to my little one since she was several months old. Be sure to download or find the songs online sung and read by the author because it's a lot of fun.
Teaches counting/math.

My 5 year old son with autism absolutely loves these books. He has two of them memorized and I love watching him pretend to read. He also likes to watch the youtube versions of the books and follow along.

I am a Special Educator who teaches children with autism. My students LOVE Pete the Cat books! We started out with "I Love My White Shoes" and it was a hit. The students were consistently engaged when we read it and incidentally learned quite a few colors! I ordered this book and I think they love it even more! This one addresses skills such as counting and number identification. I find that these books are great because they are rhyming and repetitive. This helps young learners to participate and predict what is coming next. I also like to pair these stories with fun motor movements--I highly recommend doing this. For instance, in this book, when the buttons fly off I always move my hands from a fist to an open hand while saying "pop!" so my students can imitate the action. I also put my hands to my cheeks when I say "oh no!". Finally, during the singing part (i.e. "my buttons, my buttons...") I wave my arms over my head to the beat. Adding these actions makes the story even more fun and interactive for the kids. Of course the moral of the story is also a good one for students who are a little older and understand it.

Pete the Cat is just awesome! My daughter and her friends love these books. This one comes with a free download of the story being read by a narrator and kids. Just great! Good price. Shipped quickly.

Here he comes again...That cool cat and his shoes....This third book was so cute...my Kindergarten ESL students love the Pete the Cat books..I told them I was going to get the new book. And trust me, it was worth it. I think I was more excited than they were. It's a great read aloud for kids in grades K-2; Features math sentences as well...A definite must have for that Pete the Cat fan!

This is one of those perfect books for young children about which I wonder, "Why didn't I think to write that?" Not only does the successive loss of Pete's buttons allow for an introduction to subtraction, but Pete's response to his loss, true to his hip style, is a great lesson in Zen acceptance: "Did Pete cry? Goodness, no! Buttons come and buttons go." After the loss of his 4th button, Pete looks down at his unbuttoned shirt to find... Well, you have to read the book. An added bonus is the author or illustrator's Web link to an audio clip for the rap that Pete sings.

My grandkids love this book - we read it often - so I had it delivered to my grandson after he left my house. His mom downloaded the song and 2 weeks later I sent him Pete the Cat and His New White Shoes - which also comes with a song download.

Approved by the little person. I suggest looking up the videos on youtube so you can learn the song in the correct rhythm. Warning: if you buy this you will have to read it about once a day, with time off for good behavior if you are lucky.
