This book is romantic suspense, but it wasn't very exciting, suspenseful or sexy to me. The overall story falls flat for me; I kept wanting more, expecting more, because there was room for it.

The hero is a CIA operative, part of a secret shadow agency, targeting terrorists using/buying chemical weapons. The heroine, who used to be an L.A. cop/forensic lab scientist, is now a chemist and his #1 supsect since her co-worker Richard is dead. The plot revolves around who has the chemical weapon formula and who is trying to sell it to terrorists. Not much is explained or used in the plot about who the terrorists are. For two law enforcement types, both main characters do some implausible or even stupid things during the course of the investigation. Stuff that just made me shake my head. The kind of silly stuff like in a horror movie that has you screaming at the screen, NO!

Burke and Eve get together about 45% through the story, and while that was sweet, it was not erotic and maybe only a little bit sexy, at least for me. There hardly seemed to be any sexual tension, and I really would have loved that, considering they are alone together, hiding out in his cabin, on the run. I needed to see more of that 'I want you but I don't want to want you' attitude. I wanted to see more sexual chemistry hampered by mistrust or outside danger.

I feel the plot is too handily wrapped up. It all seemed to come together a bit too easy: the romance, the baddie, and the attempts on Eve's life, --- spoiler ---- like the one where Burke has 3 minutes to diffuse a bomb. Is he sweating bullets? Is she crying or shaking? No, he just reaches for a conveniently found knife and cuts the bomb from her. There, done and dusted. No supsense for me. Of course, we know he's going to rescue her, but I still think it needed to be stretched out more, just a little more nail-biting at least.

I found the story good and well written. Althou some parts seemed to be a little well described - long winded which slowed down the story line and had me getting bored and skimming over a page or two.

The characters were a bit one-dimensional - I kept waiting for Burke to actually consider the possibility that she was telling the truth, but he was super stubborn about that - but I still enjoyed the story and their chemistry together.

I loved reading this book. It kept me captivated from the first page. This book is full of suspense that kept me wanting to read. I truly enjoyed the story line. It was easy for me to follow throughout. The characters were awesome. Karen Fenech has a way for the reader to relate to each character and understand them. Well written. I'm looking forward to reading Book Two in this series. Definitely recommended

Loved this book, the dynamics and action in this story will have you entertained and on the edge of the seat. The characters are very well written and easy to get wrapped up in. The mystery will have you guessing till the end, I though I knew who it was untill it was revealed, I enjoyed it! I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

The stories in this series are very good mysteries. I would have given a 5-star review but I prefer not to have the explicit sex scenes which the author inserted
and which do not add anything to the story.
