Wow just wow is my initial response to this book. This story kept me reading and finished it in less than a day. Emily had been cheated on by her previous long term boyfriend and is gun shy about getting into another relationship. Emily meets Adam in a bar at a hotel during a break at meeting for her job. They hit it off and start dating. Over the next few months they find that they really like each other and have a lot in common. Soon it is time for Emily to meet Adam's mom Pammie. Pammie is that mother that dotes on her boy and treats Emily like no matter what she does she will never be good enough. She repeatedly tries to sabotage Adam and Emily's relationship but she does it very under handedly. Emily tries to talk to Adam about his Mom but he just doesn't see the problem.

I loved this author's writing style and was quite impressed that this is her first book. The twists she managed with her writing kept me reading. I will say this book did not end at all like I expected. If you enjoy reading a little suspense this book is for you. I recommend it! Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for honest review.

It’s so difficult to review a psychological thriller without giving away important plot points. I’m going to give it a try without giving too much away. This was one of the better books that I have read lately, but it had a few flaws. The author does a good job of making the primary villain extremely unlikeable, almost too much so. At some points, I wondered why anyone would put up with someone so horrible, and not just walk away. However, I will say that that question does eventually get answered. Emily, the main character, goes through an awful lot, which is par for the course in a psychological thriller. I found her to be a little weak, but there was no particular reason given for her to be that way. In addition, the other antagonist (no name, don’t want to give it away) wasn’t fleshed out enough. I wanted more reasons for and/or examples of why and how that person was the way they were. The end reveal didn’t answer enough of those questions for me. All of that being said, it was still an enjoyable read, with a fairly tight plot. I would definitely recommend it to someone who likes the genre. I was fortunate enough to be given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Adam is charming and funny and he adores Emily. They have only been together a few months when she finds herself imagining a future with this seemingly perfect guy...until she meets his mother Pammie. Emily quickly realizes that Adam's mother is the most important woman in his life and she will stop at nothing to get Emily out of the picture. Emily, unwilling to give up on Adam so easily, attempts to expose her for what she really is...but with Pammie, she might have met her match.

This novel is a fun twist on "the other woman" troupe in which the other love in Adams life is his mother Pammie. This was such an entertaining and enjoyable novel with a really nice twist ending. I started and finished this in one sitting because I just had to see how it all played out. Pammie is cunning, manipulative, and downright wicked...a woman you will love to hate. I couldn't decide who I wanted to win as each woman stoops to inexcusable levels to gain Adams attention. So many times I found myself wanting to shake some sense into Emily and say "it's not worth it just walk away." I would recommend this novel to readers who enjoy thrillers that elicit a sense of anticipation and suspense but are not gory or graphic. This novel has a fairly fast paced plot with some darker content (death, abuse) as the story continues but nothing too intense. A fantastic afternoon read to add to your TBR list.

Great debut Sandie Jones! A disturbing, suspenseful domestic thriller. I had heard a few people talking about this book so I was intrigued. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. Emily fell in love with Adam, but his mother was another story. Adam's mother Pammie did everything she could to get rid of Emily and stop the wedding. Emily just became more determined to overcome Pammie's maneuvers and marry Adam. The trouble was Adam just didn't see how mean his mother was being to Emily. I'm not so sure I could stay with a man so tied to his mother that he refused to see the trouble she was causing - no matter how much I loved him. It would really be hard to marry a man when you would have to put up with this witch of a woman - she's just evil.

This book had a great twist to it that I didn't see coming. It was fast-paced and well-written. I did think Emily was a really weak woman - but there are many of them around. And I didn't really care for Adam the way he had blinders on when it came to his mother. But I loved hating Pammie!

Thanks to Sandie Jones and St. Martin's Press through Netgalley for an advance copy.

The Other Woman is Sandi Jones debut thriller, but reading this book, I was surprised how good it was -and a first book! This book is a psychological thriller. The plot twists and turns and I did not know what to expect after a while, and then it takes an ultimate shocking turn that left me speechless.

Adam and Emily fall in love, and they really seem like the perfect couple. Only there is one problem with them- Adam's mother in the shadows trying to wreck their relationship. Pammie, Adam's mother will stop at nothing to destroy Emily and Adam's love and put a rift between them forever.

When Emily and Adam are forced to cancel their wedding as Pammie says she has breast cancer, Emily is devastated. She has tried to explain how his Mother treats her behind his back but he does not believe her. He acts like nothing is amiss and it is all in Emily's head.

You need to make this a priority on your to read list and believe me you will be thinking about this book long after you have finished it. This book builds and builds up in suspense, so be prepared!

I gave this book 5 brilliant stars!

This was an awesome debut novel by Sandie Jones! Although the beginning had kind of a slow start, the action sped up quickly and I was drawn into the story of Emily and her relationship (or lack thereof) with Pammie, her soon-top-be mother-in-law. Pammie is an astounding character with so many flaws and machinations that one wonders if she just sits in her living room and plots against Emily. She was my favorite character because I never knew what to expect from her next. I will always remember the conclusion of the book because it was such a surprise, so twisted and oh, so good! Readers of psychological suspense will certainly enjoy this dark tale of a young woman’s survival in spite of all odds. Highly recommend this great book!

It's always exciting to discover a debut novelist who leaves you wanting more. That's how I feel about Sandie Jones and her book "The Other Woman." This is a fun, fast-paced psychological thriller about a couple in love and his truly hateful mother. Emily is deeply, madly in love with Adam, but Adam's mother seems to be singularly determined to thwart their relationship. Seriously, over-the-top! But Emily persists, marrying Adam and having a baby. And then things go awry, leading to an exciting last chapter twist.

I enjoyed this novel, but only gave it 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4, because it felt a little too familiar to me. Maybe I'm just reading too many psychological thrillers with twisty endings lately? I also just couldn't tolerate Adam, which made it hard for me to be empathetic with Emily. I would have dumped his ass the first time he sided with his mother over me! And I would never have let him dictate my friendships.

Nonetheless, it was a fun read and the ending was very satisfying. I would definitely recommend "The Other Woman" and look forward to Jones's next novel.

“The Other Woman” by Sandie Jones is, a story that every woman dreads; Amy’s husband has another woman in his life. That woman is Amy’s mother-in-law, Pammie. Amy, Adam, and Pammie have a caustic relationship, and readers know from the start that Pammie, with a name like that, is someone who will stop at nothing to get her way. Perhaps Amy is in the way.

The characters are complex, and well developed for such a fast moving plot. Readers will love some, hate others, and really love hating them. It is a twisty, compelling psychological thriller full of big surprises. The plot is gripping and the action moves at a whirlwind speed. There are so many unanticipated elements that it is difficult to discuss “events” much without giving away something “shocking,” so readers will just have to find out for themselves.
I received a review copy of “The Other Woman” from Sandie Jones, St Martin’s Press, and NetGalley. It is full of unexpected turns and startling twists. It should be on the “must read” list for every reader of thrillers and suspense. I could not put it down, and finished it in one day.

The Other Woman is Sandie Jones’s debut novel and boy is it a good one! This story hooked me right from the beginning. The book is told from first person point of view of Emily. Emily and Adam meet and soon fall in love. Emily thinks all is perfect in the relationship until she meets what may be her future mother-in-law Pammie. Emily soon finds out how far Pammie is willing to go to get rid of her.

I loved the book but I had a hard time feeling sorry for Emily. If I were in her position I would have been gone from this relationship as soon as the weirdness started. Emily said she was in love but that early on I would think you would run away…but that’s me…maybe others would have stuck it out??

The Other Woman is a very impressive debut novel. The writing style was great. The pacing of the story was spot-on. The author did a wonderful job holding my interest throughout the book. This was well worth reading and I would highly recommend this book to everyone who likes a good page-turning suspenseful thriller and just wait for the ending! WOW!! I am now a Sandie Jones fan!!

“I knew it didn’t, but nothing made sense anymore. After everything she’d done, I’d given Pammie the benefit of the doubt, and was fully prepared to put everything behind us and get through her treatment together, as a family. But this?”.......

Emily and Adam. A match made in heaven? Soul mates? Maybe, but not if “The Other Woman” has anything to say about their relationship.

Unfortunately, while planning their future it’s Adams mother, Pammie, who is planning the very worst for Emily. Emily will not be taking her son away from her if she has her way. She’s willing to go to any lengths to see that happen.

With some unexpected twists and turns, I couldn’t put this book down. Surprise ending! Love the characters. I wouldn’t wish that mother in law on anyone, or would I? Temptations, life events, manipulation from every direction. What could come between Emily and Adam?

Will they make it as a couple? Will the wedding take place? Is it worth all the trouble Pammie is causing? A riveting psychological thriller.

Emily loves her fiance, Adam, but why is her future mother in law, Pammie, so mean to her?

Imagine for a moment that you've met the man of your dreams... but the first time you meet his mother, she is mean and rude and shows you a photo of a mystery woman. How would you react? Would you wonder why she was being so mean? Would you confront her? Or would you bide your time? Would you stop at nothing to find the answers? Well, this is exactly what happened in The Other Woman! Follow Emily as she battles with her mother in law, Pammie, all the way to the bitter end.

"But it's not about placating her. It's about standing up for me, the woman he supposedly wants to marry." - Emily to her friend, Seb

Who will Adam choose, and why?

If you enjoyed the malicious mother in law theme, then I would highly recommend The Girlfriend (4 stars) by Michelle Frances because I enjoyed the twists and turns throughout!

I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

From the moment I read the title of Sandie Jones' debut novel,The Other Woman, I was instantly intrigued. I like to go into books blindly, but I skimmed the synopsis and couldn't WAIT to get my hands on this! The Other Woman was everything I could have hoped for... AND SO MUCH MORE!

This is story of a classic "Monster-In-Law". Pammie is calculating and manipulative and she's an absolute nightmare to Emily, who is dating her prize son Adam. This woman pulls every trick in the book to ruin their relationship. She's on a mission and this is a woman that gets everything she wants. But Emily refuses to go down in flames, and Pammie quickly realizes that she just might have met her match. The heinous acts that Adam's mother commits would have me running for the hills.

The Other Woman is extremely well written. This was a very exciting read full of shock and dismay! Kudos to Sadie on her first release! She is, without a doubt, a new author to follow!

I’d like to thank Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press and Sandie Jones for allowing me to have this ARC of The Other Woman.

The Other Woman is a riveting thriller that was ominous from the beginning! I couldn’t put the book down. The story line evoked some strong emotions and I had a feeling what was happening before the ending, but it was a great twist nonetheless.

**Spoilers**
Emily feels like she has finally met the man of her dreams. She’s on top of the world until Adam takes her to meet his mother, Pammie. Emily tries being the perfect girlfriend and win Pammie’s approval. In the end, nothing seems to work and only makes Pammie’s actions worse. Pammie is very careful not to make it apparent when other people are around.

Emily tries to tell Adam, who looks at her like she’s crazy. Then there’s Adam’s proposal to Emily which leaves his mother fainting and draws all the attention to her. She even manages to get Adam to call off his wedding to Emily with some crushing news. Adam’s brother James starts trying to come onto Emily, which leaves her feeling so confused. Soon Adam’s persona begins to crack and Emily feels that the whole Banks family must be crazy.

Emily then finds out she’s pregnant and the story begins to spiral into the twisting and wrenching finale.

Emily’s descent into depression, anxiety and anger is very raw and believable. I felt these raw emotions right with her as I read. Definitely a great read and a well written psychological thriller!

This book starts off with an ominous prologue. It peaks your interest and doesn't let up until the final page. This is a quick and enthralling read, and it will make you question those you surround yourself with, wary of everyone's actions and motives.

Adam's mother, Pammie, is quite devious and diabolical. She is the epitome of a monster-in-law. It seems as though she and Adam have a very close relationship, and Pammie will stop at nothing to insure it stays that way. But is Pammie simply an overprotective mother? Or is she a sadistic, jealous psychopath? She cleverly inserts herself into Adam and Emily's life, her intrusions increasing in both frequency and intensity, trying to deepen the wedge between them. Pammie's actions are cold and calculated, leading up to a final plot twist that will truly shock you.

I would recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers and suspense. I received this as a free ARC from St. Martin's Press on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Imagine cheerily jaunting along to your house and finding another couple moving their household goods in while yours are completely missing. This is the predicament that Fiona Lawson finds herself upon returning early from a weekend away. Told in vignettes via podcasts called The Victim, Fiona regurgitates what has happened before and since finding out about this transaction. The alternate chapters are narrated by her husband, Bram, elucidated in a word document. Bram and Fiona had split due to his marital infidelity but had been sharing living in their home at different time frames to co- parent their two young children. However, as the story unfurls, events cascade that threaten their fragile alignment even more. At first, I was very intrigued with the style but by 30% I felt it was monotonous and longed for something more to happen. As if the author could hear my thoughts, things picked up steam with lots of twists and turns and a shocking ending. A mystery that is more a character study, it deserves a vigorous round of applause...

What an enticing read!! Emily thinks that Adam is the one. She is ready to settle down and they seem to fit quite well. All is going swimmingly until she meets Adam's mother Pamela. Pammie seems determined to try to make Emily look bad, and either leave her son or have Adam breakup with her. Pammie schemes, lies and manipulates situations in such ways that it makes Emily look as if she is the one with the problem! Why can't Pammie just let go of Adam? But, no matter the situation, Adam puts his mother first, fails to support Emily, and puts their relationship in jeopardy.

You will love this battle of wills, and the delicious undercutting of each woman against the other! There are some characters you love, some you hate, some you root for and some you root against. Jones saves an incredible surprise for the end.

I loved this book - it is such a fun read!!

Minotaur Books and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of The Other Woman. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Emily thought the new love of her life was perfect, until she meets his mother. Adam and his mother Pammie have an unbreakable bond, one that threatens the relationship as Emily is constantly rebuked by the woman. When it all comes to a head, whose relationship will survive?

Although The Other Woman is marketed as a psychological suspense, it is really just a straightforward thriller. The major component to the story, Emily's constant battle over Pammie's treatment of her and Adam's defense of the woman, would have been a non-issue in real life. With the relationship being in its early stages, it makes no sense that Emily would have stayed. I did like the small twist at the end, but the rest of the book was lackluster. For these reasons, I would be hesitant to recommend The Other Woman to readers.

In all marriages, there is another woman. It's the mother in law. Either they become a wonderful friend or a hateful enemy. When Emily met Adam, it was love that grew quickly. Problems started to arise when Emily met her in-laws. Pammie, and James, Adams ' mother and brother. Pammie is making Emily's life miserable with the slights and mean, condescending comments. She doesn't want them to marry. Then, there is James whom Emily feels a connection, but nothing comes of it because she loves Adam. So many secrets and lies. Pammie manipulates Emily at every turn. Everything is ready for the wedding, then all the skeletons fall out of the closet. I thought it was a page turner. I wanted to know what was happening. Written by someone who has done their homework about relationships. I recommend this book. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.

In this story, you find two people that bumped into each other in a bar, and the woman thought the handsome man stuck up and entitled. Upon another encounter, the woman decides to give him a chance and she becomes charmed by him. Romance blossomed quickly. It wasn't until she meets his mother, that things become unpleasant. The relationship between them started changing. The tension and nightmare starts building up. Things aren't really what it seemed like.

I was engrossed from the get go. I found it to be an unputdownable, fast-paced, page-turner. I stayed up too late until the early morning. As you get into the book, it becomes nightmarish. You think you know how it will be , and then slap! The twist to the story gets you towards the end. You might not have picked up on some clues. This is definitely one of the best thriller this year in my opinion. Highly recommended.

A thrillingly fast-paced read from Sandie Jones, The Other Woman finds her novel's hardworking, unlucky-in-love British heroine Emily unwittingly (and very quickly) caught up in an escalating game of psychological chicken with her boyfriend's mother Pammie that unfortunately, her boyfriend and the rest of the world is unable to see.

Sure to be a popular late summer beach read, while it suffers from a few gaps in logic and common sense as our lead character never thinks to use technology to snap a photo, record a threat as evidence, or merely research one of two sketchy backstories involving both her boyfriend as well as Pammie, as a journalist, Jones knows how to assemble a compelling story.

Although it raises a valid concern regarding how much we change and/ore are willing to take when we're in a committed relationship, because more than a few people in Pammie's orbit suffer from serious likability issues, I kept wanting to yell at the fictional Emily as though she were on the other end of the phone, “honey, just leave already!”

Nonetheless still able to reel me back in and (mostly) suspend my disbelief, as I grew closer to the final Emily vs. Pammie standoff, I found myself walking around with the book in hand, waiting to see what Jones had in store for the finale.

Needing to reveal, explain, and wrap-up everything in a very rushed showdown that perhaps involves way too much spoken exposition, while that device has been used so often in books and film that it's easy to overlook, one of Woman's biggest hurdles isn't in the book at all but on the cover.

A vital reminder for publishers to be careful as to which blurbs you include on the book itself, because my Advanced Reader Copy arrived complete with a quotation advertising “a twist you will not see coming,” readers (like yours truly) are sure to find their brains working overtime to the point that I was able to correctly deduce where Jones might be going roughly halfway through.

Of course it's still an incredibly fun read and I didn't have all of the nuts and bolts of said twist squared away to the point that it ruined everything. All the same and regardless of the fact that all of these genre titles have twists, I would've loved it even more if I'd never been tipped off that there was something that far out of left field for which to look.

Even so an impressive debut that I thank Minotaur Books for sending me, The Other Woman might make you uneasy to meet your new love's parents but it'll definitely excite you to imagine what new novels and twists Jones might have up her sleeve.

Note: I would've given this one 3.5-3.75 if able.

The Other Woman is a twisty family thriller that throws some surprising deviations into the usual plot.

Emily loves Adam. However, she is not thrilled with his mother, Pammie. Pammie seems to be purposefully throwing roadblocks in Emily’s way. Adam’s younger brother, James, tries and fails to help. Who is the mysterious Rebecca? A former girlfriend of Adam, who Pammie still pines for?

The Other Woman follows a common mother-in-law from hell plotline for at least the first half of the book. To be honest, if I wasn’t reviewing it, I would have put it down at 25% in. But I’m very glad I didn’t. The rollercoaster conclusion alone is worth the time it takes to read the book. Overall, it is a breathtaking read that will make a great movie. 4 stars!

Thanks to the publisher, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for an advanced copy.

I struggled to get into this book initially and would read a bit and move onto reading something else a few times. There was a lot of drawing out of events that kept me at a distance for a bit. Emily was often repetitive and Adam didn't seem to be involved in her environment. There was a lot of sex and tension relating to sex as Emily met James. Pammie seemed believable as someone who was contriving to keep her sons Adam and James close to her and at the same time to keep the outside in. The chemistry between Emily and James seemed believable and palpable, however the fact that Adam and James were adversaries was not believable. The tie in at the end seemed rushed, however this books saving grace were Emily's friends and mother. This book was well written. I just wish the plot points would have been a bit tighter. This book will be a hit though.

Do you have a mother in law or a monster in law? What would you do if the man you loved was a momma’s boy who couldn’t see how awful and manipulative she was? What if she would do anything to end your relationship?

Pammie is the MIL and Emily and Adam are the happy couple. Emily wants the fairytale and hopes she can get Adam to see what Pammie is doing before she causes more destruction.

I enjoyed the British setting and euphemisms. I liked that they could go to Portugal for a 4 Day Hen Party! (Of course the men went to Vegas.). I also really liked Emily’s friendship with Seb and Pippa. I just didn’t understand why Emily stayed for so long and made herself so crazy. I struggled to finish this one.

I received an advance reader copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Emily thinks Adam’s perfect; the man she thought she’d never meet. But lurking in the shadows is a rival; a woman who shares a deep bond with the man she loves.

Emily chose Adam, but she didn’t choose his mother Pammie. There’s nothing a mother wouldn’t do for her son, and now Emily is about to find out just how far Pammie will go to get what she wants: Emily gone forever.

This book was sooo good. I could not put it down. I don't know how Emily put up with Adam's mom. I would have left a long time ago. Then his brother keeps wanting to meet with her. She also finds out about Adam's last girlfriend and does some snooping. What Adam's mother does to destroy Emily and their relationship was so mean. But the ending! I did not see that coming.

I received this from NetGalley for an honest review.

“The Other Woman” is uber twisty and addictive and keeps you up way, way, way, way too late reading to the “I can’t believe that happened” shocking end. This psychological thriller is a debut by Sandie Jones and after reading it, she’s now on my “I’ve gotta have every one of her books” list!

So here’s the story. Emily meets Adam, who is definitely The One. But with the perfect guy comes the mother-in-law from hell, Pammie, a woman you’ll love to hate. What do they say about mothers and the lengths they’ll go for their sons? Well, you won’t believe the lengths Pammie goes to ... and I’m not gonna tell you either. You MUST read “The Other Woman” to find out! 5/5

Compelling, fast paced suspenseful thriller with the kind of plot that keeps you guessing until the very end, even when it seems the entire book is heading in one direction. Emily is dealing with the literal mother of all terrible apron string moms. The woman is a pure psychopath, and is doing everything she can to drive her away from her son. Things draw to an incredibly chilling climax before everything is tied up with the beautiful bow of closure. The characters are complex and fleshed out, the story is gripping and really pulls you in as you're reading it. This is right up there with my favorite thrillers of the year. Things can get a bit confusing because of the formatting due to the fact that it was an ARC but I'm sure that'll be fixed in the final format.

When Emily meets Adam she hit the jackpot. He was handsome, intelligent, smart and a little mysterious. Her life became perfect she has everything she ever wanted. Then she met his mother Pammie and her world was turned upside down. To everyone else, Pammie seemed the perfect woman. To Emily, she was the total opposite. This is where the book takes a dark turn. Pammie will stop at nothing to destroy this relationship. I was a scared reading it. This being the debut thriller of Sandie Jones is remarkable. There are so many twists and turns that you are pumped up till the very end. You feel like your having the same emotions as Emily. Truly I was drained when I finished it. I can't say enough good things get this book as soon as you can you won't regret it.

Oh my goodness.. this is one of my favorite books of 2018. It's so good!!!!! I had no idea what was going to happen next but I couldn't put my kindle down.

Emily thinks that Adam is perfect. They are perfect together. They at meant to be.

Emily chose to live her life with Adam but she didn't choose her evil future mother in law. Pammie has done everything in her power to try to get Emily out of Adam's life. She can't figure out why Pammie hates her so much and why Adam is so obsessed with his mother. They have a weird connection where he will drop everything in this life to go run to his mother.

This book is so good and I highly recommend it. Best psychological thriller I've read in a while.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. The writing, first and foremost, was captivating and thrilling, well put together, flowed extremely well, and made me not want to miss one second of reading this book.

I am a big fan of psychological thrillers and this one certainly falls within my 'Top 20' list for gripping thrillers. A man, getting married, loves his wife. His mother, however, isn't prepared to let him go. As irritating as this sounds, it is a REALITY, though only partly, because Pammie (a.k.a. mother) is a piece of work, I tell you. I'm sure you've known someone like her in your life. The closeness of reality and the thrilling addition of being a work of fiction is what made this book enjoyable, it was a quick read, and it engulfed me.

"With a twist you will not see coming" Ummm...nope. Let me just say that I formulated my theory somewhere in the first 30 pages and I was spot on. Now let me say that I still LOVED reading this book! This is beach reading at it's best.

(From the publisher) Emily chose Adam, but she didn’t choose his mother Pammie. There’s nothing a mother wouldn’t do for her son, and now Emily is about to find out just how far Pammie will go to get what she wants: Emily gone forever.

Somehow in this post-Girl on the Train-era authors, publishers, and readers alike have decided that we have to be "shocked" by a "major" surprise in the plot. While I do enjoy a good twist, that isn't the be all end all of fiction. I figured out the twist at the beginning of the book and still loved reading this novel. Author Sandie Jones presents Pammie's machinations and Emily's attempts to thwart her at a perfect pace—a slight lull between each rattlesnake strike. This book was delicious! My reading enjoyment was through the roof, and I strolled through this easy read in less than 2 days.

Although Jones writes her major characters Adam, Emily, and Pammie brilliantly, I was most impressed with her background characters. Pippa, Seb, and Emily's Mum are written well beyond the usual cardboard best friend/gay friend/slightly out of the loop mother. They aren't just there at the beginning to set the scene; they aren't just there at the end for a happy resolution. These characters move on the page, bouncing in and out of the story in a way that rings true to life.

The Other Woman has been optioned for a TV series and I just can't wait to see this 4-star read come to life in my living room!

The Other Woman

Sandie Jones’ The Other Woman, is the gripping tale of Adam and Emily. A typical story of guy meets girl in a pub, both with their own heartbreak baggage from past relationships but unable to ignore the undeniable spark between each other. As the spark quickly ignites into something more real, Emily yearns to learn as much about Adam as she can and meeting his mum seems naturally the next step. Pammie, is not however, exactly welcoming her with open arms and will do anything she can to douse the flames Emily has flared in Adam. Adam will have to choose between them but Pammie is very determined to get rid of Emily and will stop at nothing to keep them apart. One of the most intriguing domestic suspense novels I’ve read this summer! You will be page turning into the night. Fans of Lisa Gardner and Chevy Stevens will thoroughly enjoy the twists and turns of The Other Woman! #bewareofpammie

Well, this book has abuse and lots of it. Violence and people stuck in said abuse cycle are in abundance. In short, I was very fed up with all the main characters pretty quickly. Pammie is evil, sure. Adam is just dumb. Emily needs therapy and self-esteem and an infusion of common sense. The twist wasn't a twist and the ending was horrible. I'm so sorry, I tried hard to like this book, to connect to anything about it, but I can't. It really needs some redeeming features. Someone we can root for, or at least like. I think it's good for people who like endings that aren't happy, nor totally sad but are somewhere stranded in-between.

My copy came from Net Galley. I appreciate the chance to see if I liked it. My review is my own, left of my own free will.

I recieved this book as an advanced readers copy and am grateful for the opportunity to review it. I believe I got it through the publisher as it was a surprise in my mail one day. And what a great surprise it was! Psychological suspense is my favorite genre! I love suspenseful thrillers and this book did not disappoint. There are lots of psychological suspense out there but this is one of the best. And I have read a lot of them! There were surprises throughout the book and the author kept you guessing up until the last chapter. Even if you think you know Pammie, you don't! She is trying to ruin the relationship between Emily and Pammie's son Adam. But why? Adam seems perfect to Emily... I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading more by this author.

This is a debut novel which is a complicated, elementary thriller, of a young woman who has fallen crazy in love. Emily Havistock is a professional who is talented in the recruitment business. She seems to be more sophisticated than the average person and comes from a supportive, healthy family. And yet, when she falls for Adam Banks, a very good-looking man who works in the banking field, she becomes blinded by his somewhat manic reactions.

The focus in the novel is on his mother, Pammie, who seems to be terrifyingly devoted to her son. She appears to Emily and the reader as a scheming liar and will go to any extremes to ruin the Emily/Adam relationship. Her outward affection towards her son is creepy and Adam becomes enraged if Emily questions his mother’s tactics. There is also another son, James, who appears more grounded.

If you want to read a novel about passive-aggressive malice, then this is the story for you. About half way through the book, I caught on to the plot and became bored of the extremes. Emily would either do anything for Adam and his family or she would get smart and move away. However, she remained in the relationship and kept the melodrama moving.

Emily’s did evolve into a credible character and she was a good person. Jones went into the Emily’s head over and over until mine began to spin. She seemed to be in a constant frenzy and she gradually lost confidence in herself – but not in the relationship. The ending is rather wild and it can be believable depending on the reader’s trust in the character development. It is a page turner. It is very difficult to write a psychological mystery that hasn’t been written before. The basic plot is not new; Jones’ interpretation of her characters' motives often left me in a quandary and I thought, “really?” 3.5 stars

This story follows Emily who has met handsome and successful Adam, the man of her dreams. They fall in love and are engaged within months. Things begin to drastically change when Emily meets her future mother-in-law. Pammie is someone you wish not to have as a mother in law.

This was a great read, very gripping, intense psychological thriller. It kept you guessing till the very end. My first book from this author Sandie Jones, I definitely didn't see it coming until the end.

Emily meets Adam, falls in love with Adam, moves in with Adam, then all hell breaks loose. This book reminded me of the older Lifetime Movies (when they were good). It was fast paced, suspenseful, and entertaining. The title is misleading, a few chapters in I realized what the concept was about. By then I was fully invested in the book, so I kept reading. Glad I did! The only thing I didn't enjoy, was the ending. It seemed rushed. There was a climactic buildup towards the end when you THINK you know what will transpire, then Sandie Jones adds a twist that some may seem unbelievable.

All in all, it was a great read and I will definitely recommend it to my fellow bookworms.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read the ARC!

Did not see that coming. Without giving the ending away, I must say this book kept me engrossed with a love/hate relationship for Emily's almost mother-in-law. It seems Pammie (MIL) was always on Emily's case where her son, Adam was concerned. She actually didnt want them to get married and did everything in her power to break them up.

I sometimes wanted to ring Pammie's neck myself. But Adam and Emily trudge on to make their relationship work even when little baby Poppy comes along. You will love this book and not want to put it down as you follow this weird relationship of the Banks family.

Emily meets her dream man and falls for him quickly, maybe too quickly? Unfortunately Pamela, his mother, seems to be an evil psychotic mother-in-law but nothing discourages Emily. Then she gets pregnant and the wedding is postponed. I kept wondering if and when Emily would open her eyes and leave her fiancé and his family.

This book has a really scary twisted plot! I read it in one morning because I just had to know how it ended.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

4.5 stars for this psychological thriller! The twist in this one was not what I expected. I’ll be brief in the synopsis of this book as you can read the description without me rehashing it all. Plus, I don’t want to give too much away.

Emily meets Adam. They fall for one another, meet each other’s families, and the relationship progresses. Adam’s mom, Pammie, acts like a psycho that is obsessed with her sons and only Emily sees it. Pammie is a great love-to-hate-her character that makes you just cringe whenever she’s around. Emily stuck around way longer than I would have. I won’t say anything else other than this is a must read for anyone that loves a good psychological suspense.

I just finished reading The Other Woman by Sandie Jones and what a great read. The book kept you going until the very end and I was as usual surprised at the ending. Never saw it coming! That said it was the ending that got me questioning the prologue which had sent me in a totally different direction. I think I have finally figured it out but I will let that be because it’s a real game changer and would ruin the book for many. I give the book 4 stars because of the uncertainty of the prologue. Again, thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Adam is the most perfect man Emily has ever known. She can't wait until they are married. His mother, Pammie has other things on her mind. Stop the wedding, break them up. Emily can't figure out why her future mother-in-law hates her so much. She is bound and determined to show Pammie who will win at this game. She's bound and determined to marry the man of her dreams, even if it kills her.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are amazing. You are actually cheering them on, or hoping they're caught in their lies. Terrific storyline, great ending. Highly recommended

Wow! The relationship between Adam and Emily was doomed from the start. Emily falling for Adam right away, he seemed to good to be true. Until she met Pammie, Adam's mother. Pammie was manipulative and hell bent on destroying their relationship. Of course we find out why in the explosive ending. All the twists and turns and character development kept me up at night reading this one. The only thing that kept this from a 5 star read was Emily's character. She seemed whiny at the worst times and her devotion to Adam was a little ridiculous when he was pretty rude to her. Despite that, Sandie Jones did a fantastic job building the scene, thought most of the characters fit well with the story, and oh did she write a good Pammie.

The Other Woman. by Sandie Jones

I enjoyed this gripping thriller as it is all about psychological warfare. Emily a modern, working girl is not so lucky with her partners till she meets the ‘perfect one’ Adam, alas, he comes with a downright nasty, passive-aggressive, manipulating, double-faced mother. While Emily begins to doubt herself she also ignores the first warning signs of Adam’s behavior. It is gripping until the end. The tinies drawback is Adams brother, his character is not credible, nor is his dual role as supporter or seducer. Otherwise a perfect page-turner, which I would recommend.

The Other Woman- Emily has finally found her match with new boyfriend Adam Banks. Things are moving fast but sometimes you just know when something is right. When Emily meets Pammie, Adam’s devoted and overly involved Mother, their perfect relationship starts to show some cracks. Can Emily withstand the not so subtle sabotage of Pammie while she and Adam try to build a life together? ——
Sometimes I wanted to yell at Emily for being naive & spineless and other times I wanted to cheer for Emily for being ballsy. It seemed like a lot of drama and effort to become a Banks without a lot of payoff. Pammie is a formidable foe and a mother in law from hell. While it had some twists and turns, I wouldn’t call it a suspense thriller but more of a domestic drama. It’s a decent book and worth a read but I wouldn’t push to the top of your tbr list. There were some parts I thought were unbelievable and contrived and the longer I sat after the more some Plots really bugged me.

I gave this rating because the book is well written and is a good story. I think there was so much hype about a twist ending. It tells you on the cover that there is a twist ending. I was disappointed because you knew it was not what you expected. Sometimes less is better.

Emily meets Adam a a bar and they hit is off. However, Adams family gets in there way of happiness time and time again. You don't think that there relationship will last but it keeps going until the very end.

I recommend reading this book, the authour did a nice job yelling the story. Sometimes the story jumps around so it will take a minute to figure out what has happened but it gets back on track and explains thing fairly quickly.

The Other Woman is a classic monster-in-law story with a twist. Emily falls head over heels for Adam, but the feelings she has for Adam's mother, Pammie, lean more towards hate than love. Pammie goes out of her way to make Emily's life miserable and keep her out of her precious son's life. This book will keep you up late flipping page after page until the astonishing ending is revealed. This is one you will want to go back and read again to pick up on the clues that you missed. Although this is a common plot, the outcome definitely dishes out the surprise factor.
