I greatly enjoyed this account of a couple's relationship, with its various trials and tribulations, combined with the wise philosophical insights of the author, whose various publications bring philosophy to bear on various aspects of our lives. My own relationship has benefited, which is an additional benefit.

After reading this book I realize that I got more than I expected. I have been married for 21 years so I can completely relate to the challenges of marriage . I enjoyed reading this book very much and would recommend it to my married friends.

Although quite interesting look at emotional minutiae in a marriage over time, the tone appeared to trivialise many of the characters' reactions. The feelings of Kirsten are not explored much and she is not well developed as a character. Rabih also seems to lack depth and it seemed surprising that his traumatic childhood experiences didn't feature much as part of his character. However there were some interesting insights about transference in the marriage relationship.

A wonderful book for everyone in, before and after a love relationship (best in and before actually). I could say pretty much a must read.
Reflecting our everyday struggles, joys and wonders in relationships and giving wonderfully honest, philosophical and psychological insights in our human psyche and our longing, need and struggle with long term relationships. I would have ticked 'hopeful' and 'thoughtful' as mood, but was only able to choose one
