This book was difficult to read because there were so many basic grammatical errors and misspellings. There were numerous incorrect facts. It seemed like it was more about getting as much in as possible without really paying attention to the basics of writing. I would not recommend this book.

This reading is worse than junk -- replete with typos, horrid sentence structure, formulized writing and will be of no interest to "crime buffs."
To quote Dorothy Parker: "This is not a (book) to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force."

Proud Yanks should carry their pocket Constitution and Author RJ Parker has you covered in that vein (thanks to Kindle on iPhone) when it comes to Serial Killers. His, tight compendium's subject matter is world-wide in scope and covers many Serial Killers I never even heard of and I am pretty fluent in the genre. Women are not given short-shrift here and he delivers the deadly "Pow!" of the evil that women can do like Judith Neelley, Anna Maria Zwanziger, Carol Bundy, the evil and twisted Bender Family et al. Men are not the only purveyors of evil here on Earth. As one reads thru' the encyclopedia A-Z, they start to see how much women actually have culpability in the fascinating psychological phenomena of Serial Killers...not being loved by a loving mum, being neglected and not having a healthy family unit is something one starts to see over in over again in the young lives of these eventual Serial Killers. Reading this book really brought that home for me and it's a subject of interest in my future for sure. Since the book is "digesty", it's not comprehensive but it provides all the basic facts one will need to expand their own personal subjects of interest on these evil, wicked, mean and nasty devils. See who used alligators in their evil crimes, see how these type of ghouls don't just exist in North America and how these sorts have psychological doppelgangers in Germany, Russia, Ukraine and even Pakistan! I was surprised how many Serial Killers were gay as well...I never really thought that there were many but I was clearly wrong! And the Nurses! Most of us know about them but how interesting to see a high percentage of nurses in the Serial Killer demographic (men and women!). This book is an excellent research tool (I am actually using it that way!) and well written. I am now interested in Mr. Parker's other books on Serial Killers because I also always enjoy author's editorial comments on their subject matter in their books. Reading the book, I also noticed the differences in countries RE: how they incarcerate and execute their respective Serial Killers...Canada is way too lax and one would not wanna be a Serial Killer in the Middle East! They do go medieval on the medieval and that is the way these evil freaks should be handled if you ask me. I feel more well versed in Serial Killers now that I have read this book and I will be digging in further on some of these sickos now that I have been well versed on the basics! Due to the dark subject matter, some of the subjects written in this kicky book do linger longer than you may want them to...

If you can look past the 2nd grade sentence structure, Mr. Parker tells some interesting stories. It bothers me, however, that he presents this internet nonsense as fact just because he obtained some information from reliable sources, such as police and FBI records. The majority of the "facts" came from unsubstantiated websites like "Murderpedia". This book also has an unbelievable amount of typos, spelling, and grammatical errors.

The book was very interesting but all the typos were very distracting. If you can't proofread what you've written or at least get a good editor who can, you really need to take a few grammar and English courses. There is no excuse for some of the ridiculous typos! For instance, using right instead of write.

Some facts are just plain wrong (for example, Richard Ramirez died of B-cell lymphoma, not liver failure) and the author decided to include their personal opinion that a serial killer should not be allowed to publish short murder stories, as they might inspire others in their criminal pursuits. I found the random inclusion of the opinion out of place and hypocritical, seeing as the book in question is a compendium of serial killers and their crimes. This book does, however, sport an impressive array and scope of serial murders.

This book has tons of information on many different serial killers. Many, I have never read about, and I have been reading true crime for years! I highly recommend this book for anyone that is interested in serial killers ! A short summary is given for each killer. Victims, number of victims, and information about the killer himself/herself! Definitely a book for your collection!

Another awesome book by RJ Parker and Jennifer J. Slate. If you love to read about true crime and all it's gruesome facts this is a book to read.
This book was very detailed about each serial killer and who they targeted and how many they killed etc. This book is very organized and I would recommend this to anyone who loves crime and great facts. I can't believe how people can be so cruel and deadly to other human beings. Very sad so be prepared to be shocked and amazed at what these serial killers have done. You won't be disappointed at all. Great book

I really enjoyed this book. Minor typos and grammar errors, second the store book I've read with these simple mistakes. What gives?
Otherwise the book is great. Clean cut, to the point and the subtle opinion from the author is perfectly appropriate.

Serial Killers Abridged is a good read. The short histories of the killers make it good for reading in line at the store or wherever you can fead only a few pages. Some of the stories I skipped because I already knew them or because I just don't like the person. There are some typos, but nothing serious, and are not a reason to not give it a try.

This is the perfect book for someone with a beginning interest in true crime. The quick, easy to read style whets the appetite and gives readers a basic profile of 100 serial killers..leaving it up to you to decide if you want to research any of them further. The seasoned crime buff will also find it interesting, as there are many lesser known killers or even previously unheard of (at least in my case). Be forewarned there are photos that are extremely graphic and disturbing. Anyone with a fascination for true crime should definitely add this book to their library. I'm glad I dad!

ENJOYED THIS BOOK! Highly recommend it to anyone interested in true crime, 306 pages filled with 100 short stories (a few pages each). Very interesting because most of the crimes took place many, many years ago, and the more recent crimes had some info I hadn’t heard before. The picture selection is very graphic so DO NOT just flip through the book without preparing yourself first (like I did!) In the paperback edition the pictures start on page 291. Once again he has provided a very good true crime book!

I just finished reading RJ Parker's Serial Killers abridged book. Although I had only ever heard of the American serial killers (with the exception of Jack the Ripper) I found this anthology to be a refresher. I took Serial Killers 101 a decade ago in college, so I had forgotten some of the gory details. Now that I'm a law enforcement officer, I needed the reminder of the tale-tale signs of what to look for in my probationers/court investigations.
Thanks, RJ, for writing and interesting documentation on such a visceral subject.

When it comes to serial killers, noted true-crime author RJ Parker is one of the most prolific writers around. He has a deep understanding of how serial killers operate. What's on their mind? Why do they murder again and again? How are they able to duck the authorities? But what causes them to slip up and finally get caught?
If you're into serial killers, be sure to pick up this popular read by RJ Parker.
