This was one of my favorite Pendergast novels thus far. It has all the excellent characters from the first two novels, and it depicts their relationship to Pendergast. I liked this book because it didn't have the elements of fantasy or far fetched deaths, but more realistic murders.

After reading Brimstone, I could hardly wait for the release of Dance of Death. I was not disappointed - this was a very fun read. If you have liked other books in this series, you will enjoy this one as well.

The writing team of Preston and Child just keeps getting better! This book is a real treat to readers of their previous novels, with plenty of references to past characters and events. The book can also stand alone on its own, as knowledge of these past events and characters are not required to follow the story. The character development was superb and the story was clever and loaded with surprises. This was yet another great read by this awesome writing team! Keep `em coming!
Shadows of the Stone Benders (The Anlon Cully Chronicles) (Volume 1) :: The Book of the Dead (Agent Pendergast series) :: The Pharaoh Key (Gideon Crew) :: Cemetery Dance (Agent Pendergast series) :: Blasphemy: A Novel (Wyman Ford Series Book 2)

I love the Pentergast mysteries and try to find any more new ones...the only problem with this is he goes to jail and I don;t know what book follows and how he is released...but as a single book I loved it.

How can any reader not just love Pendergast with all his eccentricities?! The early accounts of Pendergast's crime solving were complete novels; In the end, our hero triumphed. Hooray! Now, Preston and Child are stooping to cheap tricks, turning novels into a serial. "Brimstone" and "Dance of Death" have no conclusion, no end. The reader must stop reading with Pendergast in peril. Ouch. Then, to make matters worse, this non-ending is followed by an advertisement for a new book (White Fire), but not the sequel that tells us how Pendergast escapes his peril. Rather than tell a story, this appears to be a misleading trick to entice the reader to buy more books. Ouch. Maybe I'll go back to Baldacci. - Ted Peters

Sibling rivalry reaches a new level as the "dark brother", Diogenes, discovers new ways to torment Pendergast by destroying people who have been, or are, important to him. Seems no matter what Pendergast does to protect those who mean something to him, Diogenes is a step ahead. Relationships are torn apart to protect loved ones, careers are cast aside to thwart destruction; all creating a delicious opportunity for a sequel to bring everything back in balance. Can't wait to read 'The Book of the Dead' !
