I RECOMMEND THIS AUTHOR SCOTT WESTERFELD. I HAD NEVER READ ANYTHING BY HIM BEFORE. THIS WAS THE FIRST SERIES I HAVE READ OF HIS . I LOVED EVERY SINGLE BOOK. THE EXTRAS WAS A BIT SLOW TO START, BUT DID GET BETTER. I LIKED HOW HE TIED IN TALLY AND SHAY INTO THIS LAST BOOK. GREAT READ. SCOTT'S IMAGINATION TO HAVE DEVELOPED THIS STORY LINE LEAVES ME TO WONDER WHAT HE THINKS OF OUR WORLD AND THE PEOPLE IN IT. OR IS HE JUST CONTROLED BY OTHERS.

In my opinion, this trilogy was the the first, the finest, forever. Such a good read. I have given this series as a gift to YA who don't read very much because I know once they start this trilogy, they won't be able to put it down!

What a perfect sequal to the first book The Uglies. I loved Taly and Zane's relaitonship; the fight to overcome the obstacles together. It is such a beautiful story. Well written and completly enveloping. Plus, its not only for the young adults. . . The adults will love this book too. Everyone can relate to it. Simply excellent.

Read this a the recommendation of a friend. The plot is futuristic but that gives the author great latitude to create world perfect for his storyline. This book has much to say to our currect image-driven culture. I liked the whole series!

Unlike the others, this book started out very exciting! The twists are great as usual. The character progression continues as you get to see the world from a different perspective again. Absolutely loved it.

This is an interesting series. It was recommended to me by my niece. Yes, I'm a little old for YA fiction, but at least I don't have to be offended by the language or content, unlike many "adult" offerings.

Scott Westerfield keeps blowing me away with this series. I love reading about the adventures of Tally and her friends as they search for what is right. This book is so amazingly intriguing and had me up well into the middle of the night.

Scott Westerfeld has never disappointed me, but the Uglies series is by far my favorite of his works. The post-apocolyptic setting with just the right hint of romance and abundance of adventure makes it a great read for fantasy lovers.

Tally has been made a special, along with Shay and the other cutters. The book opens with this special group of Specials breaking up an ugly party. People from the New Smoke are infiltrating the city and dispersing cures to the bubbleheadedness caused by the surgery. A special is caught by the Smokies, who apparently have aid from another city.
Shay and Tally form a plan to find out where the new Smoke is, and Tally hopes to get Zane involved to prove he's special enough to be made Special. He's had lasting effects from the failed cure he took in the last book, and Tally is somewhat repulsed by his weaknesses.
The plot is the same as in the other books, Tally doesn't want to change, but then realizes what needs to happen and changes. Not that this was bad, the conclusion was fine, but the descriptions of the Specials and the residents of Diego were just a bit too far fetched and I didn't feel like anything really new or different happened.

This book was a great addition to the Uglies series! It really gave a new perspective on how their government could manipulate them into doing everything they wanted. Although, a system that seemed to be perfect was actually immensely flawed. The power of Tally to be able to control her own thoughts even when she is being brainwashed gives people hope, and makes us feel strong! Also I thought that when Zane died (incredibly heartbreaking)! It was a great addition because it really gave the book a feel of reality.. Because everything doesn't always work out perfectly!

Honestly, I started reading these books not wanting to like them. I'm very familiar with dystopian fiction, but I want thrilled with the whole idea of this book. Uglies pleasantly surprised me, as did Pretties. The heroine isn't shallow and believes in justice, even if it means risking her own life.

This series is a fun series to read, especially for a 12-16 year old (although i'm not going to lie, I enjoyed all of the books) The Uglies and the Pretties are the most enjoyable with the Extras getting a little boring, but still read to the end.

I was very unimpressed by the first book, and decided to give the series another shot with this second one. But honestly, after finishing this one I'm giving up. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with this book, but the thought of starting the third book had me dreading it so much, that I realized it was just better to cut ties and never find out what happened to Tally.
I don't know if it's the world that Scott Westerfeld created, my inability to connect with any of the characters, the really pathetic and one-dimensional romances, or a combination of all of these that made me not like this series... All I know is that I was MUCH more emotionally involved in The Maze Runner series, and even though I hated the ending of that series with a passion, I'd rather re-read it than bore myself with the third book in the Uglies series. At least The Maze Runner kept me interested and engaged.
Plus, these books are fairly expensive for sucking so much.

Possibly my favorite book in the trilogy, Pretties is fun and exciting. I liked the pace of the story line as he didn't spend too much time on any one situation. Many of the chapters ended with cliff hangers which made the book hard to put down.

I absolutely loved this book despite how sad I found the ending. This author does an amazing job at building characters and making them come to life. I appreciated this book and can't wait to read it again soon!

This book is amazing!!!!!!!!!! Even though I liked uglies better, this book had a wonderful adventure. The last two chapters are kind of a strange/awesome ending. SPOILER ALERT: the last sentence is...
She said, "Face it, Tally-wa. You're a Special."

I really enjoyed the first two books in the series. I read this one to complete the set, but I would have been fine without it. The main character seemed to lose some maturity and focus in this last installment.

But kept me interested, there should have been more or much less about Diego. As it stands it was made into this huge deal but then nothing, I still don't fully understand Tally forgiving David so fast or standing against her friends.

This book was action packed, and kept you wanting to read more and more. The decisions that Tally has to consider are very intense. Even though beer the end you might be want in for something that wouldn't happen, it is still a fabulous book.

I can understand introducing use of language to identify a culture:it worked well in Catcher in the Rye, Clockwork Orange and countless others. What they have that this doesn't is great writing that makes the overuse part of the story, a seamless identification that isn't the whole "trick" of the tale (see what I did there!). The concept is a decent one, but the execution is just painful. If I read one more line with pretty, ugly, tricky, bubbly or bogus I was going to poke my eye out. It made the plot holes stand out even more until the whole sorry mess just imploded upon itself.
