Wonderful fantasy novel without a vampire to be seen! Plot twists that you don't see coming and an attention to detail that makes characters and scenery easy to imagine. Political turmoil and complex relationships, plus the butt kicking heroine who actually does things and is not a damsel in distress.

First chapter and you're hooked on a page turner you cannot put down until it's finished and you're still left begging for more. Fast paced and chock full of delicious conflict and encounters. I highly recommend
Queen Alpha (NYC Mecca Series Book 2) :: Skyborn (Dragons and Druids) (Volume 1) :: Matefinder :: Fire in Frost (Crystal Frost Book 1) :: Magical Compass (Supernatural Prison Book 5)

Chase the Dark is an engaging and humorous beginning to and action-packed series. The mythology in the story is rich, discussing the dystopian world our characters now inhabit , after a devastating World War, daemons reveal themselves in attempts to help reestablish life on Earth.
Piper is a beautifully passionate MC, who is dedicated, headstrong, selfish and impulsive. She exists in a world the had many dark evils, and she realistically is fallible and can be on the losing side of an argument, especially given her disadvantage of lacking magic the rest of her haemon peers depend on. The developing relationships between Piper and the two male Underwold daemon MCs, Lyre and Ash, is natural and endearing. I particularly loved the ease that the romance was incorporated into the story. It did not become the narrative focus, but added realistic humanity to all of the characters. (And while there are 2 male characters, the relationship with Piper never entered a predictable or cliche love triangle).
My favorite hidden gem character was Mysis, a charmingly charismatic and arrogant Overworld daemon whose ease and nonchalance add
a contrast to the seriousness of the other character's story lines.

I love this book. The characters are original and fun.
I loved how there were little problems along there journey that they had to overcome while trying to solve the biggest most dangerous problem. It kept me on my toes and made it imposible to put the book down. I finished it in about 6 hours! I love this book and am eagerly looking forward to reading more :)

The fast pace kept me hooked the entire time, even had to deliberately slow my reading. I love how the characters develop. The no nonsense atitude of the whole bunch and the truthfullnes of everyone of them. The story has enought twists and surprises that you wont stop reading it until it ends, and will keep you wanting more.

This book is fun, dangerous, action-packed, page-turner and anything a good urban fantasy should be. The word building in this book is unique and alluring. Seventy years ago, daemons put an end to humanity’s third world war to prevent the destruction of their favorite playground, Earth. So now humans are to live a degraded life, where the consul are to remain the peace between humans and daemons. Our main female lead Piper Griffiths is the daughter of the head consul, for her entire life she only wants one thing; to become a Consul. However as usual s*** happens, with the help of two sexy daemons she has to save the world (well you know what happens)

I really did like the world the author builded up, it was really different and idiosyncratic in paranormal // urban fantasy standards, the author did not just created another world with daemons but one that has so much more extent. However it would be so much better if all the details are not forced together all at once, the author could have taken more time describing the amazing world she came up with rather then putting it all together all at once creating a immense confusion.

The other thing I really enjoy about the book is the characters, meanwhile Piper our main female lead is really naïve and from times to times unreasonably stubborn and impulsive. But she definitely is a likeable protagonist whom is a good fighter and unlike typical paranormal romances protagonists Piper has a certain depth that held in her that captivated me into reading in her perspective. As for the other two other male leads Lyre and Ash, both are incredibly sexy and swoonworthy male leads. They are incredible, while Lyre is hot and fierce Ash is all powerful and dangerous, the author has successfully compluse me into falling in love with both of them. I won't say there is a absoulte love triangle happening despite the synopsis, as it is clear to Piper when it is just "lust" or real "love" happening. Which I extremely appreciate the different path the author took

I really would like to say more of this book as it was an extremely entertaining read, in some ways this book reminded me of sweet evil but for the most part it is a lot more different, :D highly recommend if you are looking for GREAT paranormal romances :) SERIOUSLY THIS BOOK DESERVE SO MUCH MORE RECOGNITION!

Lots of sexual tension. Like the characters. A little predictable. Some of the situations are a little unbelievable, as in the star characters keep having choices to make that seem very obvious but they usually choose wrong. Kind of like watching horror movie where you know the actor should run out of the house but runs into the basement. It makes for interesting situations that feel a little too contrived. Overall, good story. Reminds me a little of the Cassie Palmer series by Karen Chase.
