"Safe Harbor" is another in the long and prolific career of Ms. Feehan. As always her material is fresh and captivating. Her books have a mysterious velcro quality to them in that once they touch human flesh, it's oh so difficult to put them aside until finished!

I loved this book. I used to read 2-3 books a day during the summer, until I got sick 3 years ago. Since then it has become very difficult for me to read. I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. However, I recommend All of Christine Feehan's books. She is probably the only author that gives me the opportunity to read and finish a book these days. I am anxiously awaiting the next book Christine. Please hurry.

I have waited for Hannah and Jonas's story but in this book the characters seemed detached and different from their characters in the previous books. How many pages of how beautiful she is and how lustfull and obsessed he is can you take. I didn't finish the book, just laid it on the pile I keep for when I have nothing else to read. (This one is on the bottom of the pile).

Let's keep this simple:

Plot - Entirely too many things thrown in for a single book. Too many villians, too many subplots. I could follow the ideas, but got to the point where I really didn't care WHO did it. They were all terrible enemies, just pick one.

House - What's up with this? At the beginning of the Drake Sisters stories, we had 7 magical women, who had slight magic and telepathy, with a house who knew who their mates were. Now, we have a powerful killer house with 7 women who can do just about anything God can do. Talk about growing in strength. Geez.

Jonas - I liked him and his side of the story, but his character had changed from previous Drake books. He struck me as someone else. He was fine, but different, and for me it caused some jarring moments in the reading.

Hannah - Please. Whine, get better, whine, get better, whine....

Side characters - Excellent. Actually the side characters made the story worthwhile and did a great job of setting up the final two books in the Drake sisters story.

Bottom line - This was a good story that held my interest. It definitely wasn't a 5 star read, because the moment I finished the book, I tossed it in the garbage. However, it is worth the money, and it is good for a couple of days of reading.

All books by Ms Feehan are great and the Drake sisters are some of her best. Ms Feehan knows how to combine romance and adventure into a great interesting read. I read all of her books and make sure I get them as soon as they are released. I can hardly wait for the next one by her.

I had almost given up on Feehan, but since she is such a popular author, decided to try one more book (having felt books 1 and 2 were just okay, a bit bland, too predictable and sweet, with disconnected dialogues).

This book, Safe Harbor, was a big improvement. Based on this book, I can see why Feehan is beloved.

Hannah was violently knifed, and Jonas showed that he loved her regardless of her scars. That's basically the story, along with Jonas trying to figure out who done it, and trying to prevent another attack.

Jonas and the sisters helped Hannah recover and carry on, even better than before. Hannah came out of the darkness with a far greater sense of her self, deciding to stop living to please others. Jonas listened to her and loved her and showed her that she was still sexy and beautiful. Actually a bit moving.

On the down side, it rang false that her parents played such a minute role in all this. She almost died. They were given no dialogue at all, but they did come to the hospital.

Another flaw --Hannah's sisters gave her a scrapbook and she spent 16 digital pages!!! reading all their sugary sweet little messages. It felt like -- and the messages were written like-- something from my high school yearbook. Boring, bland, eye rolling blah, blah, blah.

The house attacking the intruders was clever.

So, this was an enjoyable read, actually achieving four stars!

I might read book 6; I liked Ilya, the Russian.

Christine Feehan's "Safe Harbor" is the 5th book in her Drake Sisters series. This story focuses on beautiful Hannah. She is a widely famous supermodel, who is painfully shy and in love with Jonas, the town sheriff. Jonas grew up with the magical Drake family and has been featured in every one of the books. He's always been seen as teasing and taunting Hannah. But here, we learn it is because he has always been in love with her. She has always appeared haughty and aloof, but it has just been a cover for her terrible shyness. Now, as she faces a frightening stalker and attack, Hannah and Jonas finally face their feelings.

The book opens with Jonas and his friend Jackson taking an incriminating video of some Russian gangsters in the middle of an execution. Jonas is shot and barely escapes with his life. He returns to Sea Haven. And as Hannah prepares to go to a high profile fashion show, Jonas finally decides to face his feelings. They sleep together, and she leaves for the fashion shoot. There she is attacked; her face and body sliced up; and it takes the healing powers of all the sisters as well as Ilya Prakenskii, a friend of Alexandr from Oceans of Fire to keep her alive. Hannah survives, but her trauma interrupts her romance with Jonas and she questions whether she can get over what happened and move on with him.

WHAT WORKS:
The first time Hannah and Jonas are together is magic. We've been waiting a long time for these two to find their way to each other. It's also great to see Ilya again. I'm glad his story wasn't dropped. And I can't wait to see what happens between him and Joley in the next book.

WHAT DIDN'T:
Jonas was a little over the top. I know that's his character, but he seemed even more so in this book than in the previous ones. And if possible, Hannah seemed even weaker.

OVERALL:
It was good, not great. But no one will (or should) skip this one after investing in the first several books of the series. 4 stars.

This is the 5th story and 4th full-length novel in the Drake sisters series. The first was a novella. In order, they're "Magic in the Wind" (in Lover Beware), The Twilight Before Christmas (Drake Sisters, Book 2),Oceans of Fire (Drake Sisters, Book 3),Dangerous Tides (Drake Sisters, Book 4), and Safe Harbor.

The seven Drake sisters all have magical abilities. This story focuses on Hannah, who's a supermodel. Though appearing in public is very difficult for her, she pushes herself to do it because she thinks it's what her sisters want and she doesn't want to let them down.

Jonas is a long-time family friend, the local sheriff, and sometime government operative. He's also always been in love with Hannah, but thinks she's too good for him, and hesitates to expose her to the danger of his jobs.

Danger finds her anyway, when a crazed killer attacks her with a knife on national television, as Jonas watches, horrified, from the other side of the country. She's saved by the mysterious Prakenskii, who has powers of his own, and designs on sister Joley.

I very much enjoyed this story. Jonas's tendency to bark orders when he's worried rather than explain his concerns is even more pronounced here--understandably so, since his emotions are out of control. The danger to Hannah and the way the various suspense plots come together were exciting enough to hold my attention.

I loved the emotional aspect, which is where I think this story shines. Jonas demonstrates that beneath the bossy exterior, he truly loves and understands Hannah--in fact, he understands her better than her sisters, and admires her courage in continuing a career that takes so much out of her, even while he's nagging her to quit because he knows she's not happy. Hannah's journey of self-discovery is lovely to see--she finally realizes that her sisters love her for herself and want her to be happy, and she takes responsibility for having hidden her unhappiness to try to please them.

Her post-attack trauma is, of course, what accelerates her growth, and it's very realistically done. She doesn't get over it right away--people don't. And that touches on a societal concern I have about people being expected to recover instantaneously from trauma or grief or whatever. Instead, she recovers gradually, and the reactions between Hannah, her sisters, and Jonas were true and emotional.

My problem with the book was that it could really have used a good editing. The repetition and backstory slowed down the pace to a crawl in spots and seriously interfered with my enjoyment. It's probably better to read this book at a skimming pace--reading to get the gist of the story rather than reading every word. Which is so odd. In some books, Feehan's writing is so lush and rich that not only do I read every word, but I slow down my reading to savor them. This isn't one of those.

As I've been reading the Drake sisters books, I've been amused and puzzled by the interaction between Jonas Harrington, long-time Drake family friend, and Hannah, super beautiful, super model. Sometimes there was antagonism, sometimes sentiment and sometimes sparks. This book puts it all together and gives us the inside story in a way we might not have imagined!

The story begins with Jonas and Jackson Deveau out on a special covert assignment for the defense department that goes south. Jonas has been shot and they are trying to escape the Russian mob led by the Tarasov family. Joans mentally calls on Hannah to help them as they are trapped in an alleyway with no way out but up. Hannah calls wind, rain and is successfully in helping Jonas and Jackson escape although Jonas passes out. He comes to in a nearby ER with a doctor stitching his wounds and Jackson coming in to tell him the mob has sent more people after them and the film they made so they need to leave out the window and draw them away from the innocent people in the hospital. They leave in a hurry, call their supervisor, Duncan for help, and then need to hide out for a few days.

Hannah meanwhile is furious when she recovers from her magical efforts to save Jonas that a)he was endangering his life again when still recovering from a nearly mortal wound of a few weeks ago (read prior book "Dangerous Tides") and b) that Jonas never called to let her know he is okay or not. When Jonas finally does come to see Hannah, the sparks really do fly!!

As Hannah's life is threatened and Jonas reveals his true feelings, I could not put this book down until I finished it!! A truly exciting and suspenseful as well as sentimental and romantic story. The reader also gets better acquainted with another intriguing character, Illya Prakenskii, who is magical like the Drakes.

I can't wait for the next installment!! Highly recommended as one of the best Drake books yet!!

Oh my goodness this read was one of the best in this series so far. It was an emotional rollercoaster. It made me cry , and the situations that the characters found themselves in where intriguing. The involvement of all the characters may this read interesting. And wondering about future events and adventure the remaining sisters will have.

Outstanding! Being a model was never her aim as she is terminally shy. However her reign as a model is cut short by a disfiguring attack. Will she recover? What lay behind the attack? Will the answer shatter the family or draw it closer together? A terrific story about a fight for survival of her mind. My hard copy is now rather worn from constantly being read.

Safe Harbor starts off with a bang but almost all of the action and conflict occur in the first third of the book. It felt almost like I started in the middle of a book, like I was missing something despite the fact that I've read all of the books several times. After the first third or so, both the relationship and the suspense plot stalled several times which made it a bit boring.

The interaction between Jonas and Hannah in other books has been like a lively rivalry but this book just didn't show the characters or the relationship and tension as seen previously. In fact, I didn't like Jonas or Hannah in this book. Jonas, in particular, wasn't the character I feel like we were introduced to previously. He actually resembled the Norton twins from her Ghostwalker series to me.

Also, there are several scenes & elements that are almost the same as scenes from the two most recent Ghostwalker books with only a few sentences added here and there.

Overall, I just felt like Safe Harbor was a big let-down with the exception of the the interaction between Joley and Ilya (who is obviously her mate). It's worth reading because it's part of the series but it's just not great.

I just don't get all the great reviews about this book. Now, granted, this is the only book in this series I've read. Maybe if you have read all the others, you would be more into it.

I actually read 3 other books while reading this one. I would stop because I was so bored, read another book in a few days, then pick this one up again. Some parts were so bad, I was skimming through the pages and skipping chunks.

The book started pretty action-packed, but once Jonas was back in town, it went down hill. Since I hadn't read the other books, I did not have the background of Jonas and Hannah's relationship. I could not see how she was interested in him. Jonas was controlling, a jerk and very unfeeling. Hannah was pathetic, pitiful and a whiner. I disliked most of the characters in this book. This book was just not for me.

I love this book and couple. From the moment arrogant but good, loyal and fiercely protective Sheriff Jonas Harrington stepped onto the page and interacted with mischievous but sweet & shy Hannah Drake, I knew they were made for each other.

Hiding their true feelings behind their snarky banter, I couldn't wait to see them finally admit how they truly feel. And it didn't disappoint. Their build up from their previous appearances in the series finally came to a head in Safe Harbor and their chemistry was explosive. Out of a horrifying experience, we see these two soul mates connect and the unconditional love that Jonas shows for Hannah is wonderful.

The book wasn't perfect because as much as I enjoy reading Christine Feehan's books (they are such a guilty pleasure of mine), her writing can occasionally suffer from some clunky dialogue and flow issues. But that said the sense of family, love, magic, community and heart that is always so prevalent in the author's storytelling is out in full force in this book, so much so, that I could forgive the minor flaws. A great read and one I would recommend.

The long awaited story of Jonas and Hannah will not disappoint.

After years of loving Hannah from afar, Jonas can't wait any longer to claim her for his own. After a final dangerous mission where he almost dies, Jonas returns to Sea Haven and the only woman who has ever held his heart. He doesn't realize the danger that he has brought right to the Drake's front door. What he does know is that he can't live without Hannah.

Hannah never thought she had a chance with Jonas. With major self-confidence issues, Hannah didn't think she was woman enough to hold a man like Jonas. It didn't matter that she was a world famous model. She didn't see the same thing when she looked in the mirror that everyone else did. After being railroaded into a career she didn't want, Hannah decides to take control of her life.

Then Hannah is brutally attacked live in t.v. Just moments away from death, help comes from an unexpected quarter. Jonas and all the Drakes rush to Hannah's side and each one tries to give Hannah something to hold onto. After being stabilized, Hannah returns to Sea Haven and the home she loves. It's after they get there that they all realize the danger to Hannah is far from over. Together, Jonas and Hannah must unravel the reason Hannah was attacked and who would continually try to come after her.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Hannah and Jonas. I thought Feehan did a good job of bringing the tension between the two to a climax. After four books, there is quite a build-up and Feehan did not disappoint.

I am very surprised by some of the reviewers who disliked the book and their reasons. I thought that Hannah's story was one of the best so far and it made me like Jonas a lot more than I had in the other books because we actually get to see why he treats Hannah the way he does. We get to see his big heart, we also get to see Hannah stand on her own and not depend on her sisters so much. I don't think that Hannah all of sudden turned into a shrinking violet, she was that way all throughout the novels, with her stuttering, and her self-doubt.

Jonas was very sweet and I like that Feehan's heroes aren't afraid to admit that they are really in love with their women and they are not afraid to say or show it. I think that some of the sister bits were a bit overlong, like the letter from each sister and the constant worrying about what Ilya wants with Joley, I thought it was pretty obvious that they are extremely attracted to each other and that if he had wanted to hurt her could have done so already. I love the interactions between Elle and Jackson and I am really excited about the sparks from Ilya and Joley, I hope that Feehan can keep it up when it comes down to actually writing a full length novel for them.

There was a lot of great action and the emotional scenes really packed a wallop and I really felt the love that Jonas and Hannah felt for each other. What more could you want?

I've been waiting years for Hannah's story.

Hannah has always had my heart. So sensitive, yet so strong, even when she thinks she's weak. Christine conveys perfectly the fact that you can be beautiful to everyone else and still see yourself as the ugly duckling.
Jonas, he's loved her forever and was exactly what she needed him to be.

The devotion the sisters have for one another and thier spouses shines through.

The agony of Jonas and Sarah watching Hannah being attacked made my heart just ache, and throughout the whole you can feel Jonas' desparation to keep her safe. I'm so glad they finally made it.

I can't wait for Joley and Elle's stories. Joley, you kick booty girl and make Ilya work for it. Elle...you're the one babe... give Jackson heck but stay safe and don't be afraid, your heart will show you the way. I'd hug you if I could.

Thanks Christine for creating the family I always wanted.

The Drake sibling stories I most wanted to read happened to be the 4 youngest (Libby, Hannah, Joley, Elle). I liked Libby's story, but Hannah's was very disappointing.

Safe Harbor started off well with an action-packed, adrenaline- and fear-filled opening, but then it sort of meandered and fell apart. The sisters' reactions to the events surrounding Hannah seemed muted, Hannah and Jonas's relationship progressed in a rather superficial fashion, and there was virtually no interaction by the girls' parents, which was never explained. A measly 3 mentions of mom and dad, tops! In addition, if not Jonas, then certainly Jackson should have come to the correct conclusion long before the truth came out. The clues were there.

On the other hand, the set-up for both Joley and Elle's books was intriguing, but given how much I anticipated Hannah and Jonas's story and was let down, I'm rather wary about the final books in the Drake Sisters series.

I think all of Ms Feehan's books need tighter editing. There's a great deal of repetition within each book itself and among the books and series; the constant head-hopping (ie, point-of-view [POV] switches) is rather jolting, and the plot holes need fixing.

Let me start by saying I love Christine Feehan and have for the past 4 years. My favorite is her ghostwalker series but this past year having caught up with her ghostwalkers and carpathians I decided to start on the drake sisters. For me the first two book were kinda slow but I loved the third, oceans of fire, and kept reading bc i thought the sisters were great!! Of course everyone was waiting for this story and while it was good, i was let down in the sense that the relationship between hannah and jonas did a complete turn around from what we had seen in the past. It was still good but it just wasnt the same fun loving interaction that had always been. That being said even though she had been leading up to it in other books, it also seemed to happen a little too fast to be real. Honestly, the book was good, but certainly not her best especially since the build up had been coming for the past 4 books.

I loved this book! I bought and read it all in one afternoon/evening! The only thing I am going to say is that I found some of the reviews a bit shocking...
One by "Anonymous" titled 'Still good, but a bit tedious'-If you're going to dis Christine Feehan's novels you can't even leave a nickname-instead of -Anonymous-?!
Another two reviews one by "30 Book a month reader" titled 'Summarize' and one by "Reader" titled 'A huge disappointment' Why didn't you take the books and give them to your local library? Why not sell them, exchange them? Our landfills are big enough as it is and not only that...I don't know about any of you readers, but with the economy the way it is I don't have money to throw in the garbage!
Anyhow back to the review...
This was one of the most beautiful love stories, making me laugh, cry and terrified all at the same time. This is what true romance is all about-the all too human way that people who truly love each other act. This is what family is all about people-admitting your mistakes when you're wrong-learning to see yourself as you truly are, flaws and all. I felt Safe Harbor was jam packed with romance, action, suspense, and tenderness. Maybe some feel that Jonas and Hannah are too human and their feelings and emotions hit all too close to home because all of us can relate to them in some way. Remember it takes all kinds to make the world. Keep up the good work Christine! I'm look forward to Ilya and Joley's book and Jackson and Elle's!

When you hide your deepest secrets for so long, it is usually a long hard road to letting them go. Hannah and Jonas both struggle with the need to show a strong face to one and all, even, or should I say, especially to each other. The love that the two of them have for each other has been buried so deep for so many years it couldn't come to the surface easily. Ms Feehan makes the most of a complex situation, adding in the help of the sisters and yes sometime help is harmful, the vicious attack Jonas has to witness and the continuing attacks well,( I was spellbound during the attack on the senitient house...too cool ) it makes for very interesting scenes between Hannah and Jonas in SAFE HARBOR.

As always, Ms. Feehan's action scenes are intense, her characters emotions are deep and her sense of family and the strength uplifting.
While I first fell in love with Ms. Feehan's Carpathians I always count the days to a Drake books release. Not an Ozzie and Harriet sort of family, but one where laughter and an unconditional loyalty to each other always leaves me feeling good for days.

I will not summarize the story like most of the wonderful reviews already posted. I truly lack the talent for writing! I wanted to read Hannah and Jonah's story from book one! I am so glad this book was even better then I hoped! I could not stop going back and re-reading their first kiss! I had a smile plastered on my face. I would go 50 pages and I would find myself going back to read over funny parts and quotes. The romance is HOT!! I have not been disappointed with any books in the Drake Series. EVERY relationship is Unique and always a page turner. The humor is always unique to each of her character. Welllll, besides the books are always so HOT and not just on a physical level! I thank her for sharing her art with me and I hope she has a lot more stories to share!!! Did I mention this book was HOT? LOL

I've been waiting for Hannah & Jonas' book since the first Drake Sisters story I read. Well, Ms. Feehan does not disappoint! Whoa! All I can say is Whoa! I knew things were going to be hot between them, but I had no idea I was going to need to sit in front of the A/C while I read it. Of course the romance between them would be hot given the way they fought each other in the previous books. And it's not just the steamy bits, but the love the two of them have for each other. Anyone who has read any of the Drake Sisters stories knows Hannah & Jonas love each other, but who knew the depths of those feelings and how much they truly needed each other. We see a different side to Jonas and get more details on his relationship with all the Drakes, not just Hannah. And poor Hannah goes through a horrific experience but comes out of it stronger than before with the love of her sisters and her man.
There is a whole lot of action in this book. Gunfights, Russian mobsters, etc. And our favorite Russian, Prakenskii, is back in the mix and mixing things up for Joley. Can't wait for their book which I guess would be the next one. And Jackson speaks more in this book than all the previous books combined. Of course a lot of what he says is to criticize Elle, but you can tell Elle & Joley are going to have some interesting challenges on their hands with those dangerous men. I highly recommend this book to anyone who follows the series as well as those who love suspense & action, which this story has plenty.

Spoiler Alert!!!

The premise of the book is very good, as is the writing skill of the author. The characters have stayed consistent since the first book and the sub-plot of violence and revenge was well done and made sense. But, come on, Hannah, quit the controlling from weakness position. Hannah is the type of female, and sometime male, who just completely irritates me. The weak, soft, delicate creature who controls everyone through that self-same softness, weakness and delicateness, while using it to whine more about her "weakness". Yes, I did understand her concerns; everyone wanted her to be what they wanted and she is too good hearted to refuse them, especially as they all love her. But, that behavior is also insulting and managing to all concerned. I guess I just find Hannah to be the sister whom I could like the least. Hannah and this book aren't a turn off as much as they just show I like the stronger ball-buster type of female better than the sweet and delicate, and supposedly, helpless. But, that is just my particular taste. Of course, how anyone who can control the elements can think of herself as weak escapes me. (And, don't get me started on women who can only identify themselves through their looks, and then deny that they even have those looks. Shudder!) But, buy the book and just enjoy the further adventures of these stange women and the men who find and love them. Regardless. And, I will look forward to the next two books for Joley and Elle's adventures.

While I am an avid fan of Christine this series is my least fave (I dont count Wild Rain) but I really really liked this book. It did, however, leave me (yet again) salivating more for Ilya and Joley than anything. Which is why I gave it a 3 instead of 4 stars.

This book really hit the ground running and you're sucked in at once. Other mentioned the middle lagged and flayed around some.

Personally I thought Jonas was one the most real men CF has writen in some time. He was so open and flawed and vulnerable in his desire for Hannah and a loving relationship I understood why he did and said the things that he did and I loved him for it. CF did a great job in exposing his inner turmoil to us. He was needy and dominant and lustful and loving and a jerk and more human than character. Then again I dont like PC pansy azzed Harlequin men either. I loved that Hannah could take him and push him right back at times. She was weaker in this book with him than she has been in the past. As a heroine I think she weak as well or writen that way. To me, Jonas was the focus.

The scenes with Joley and Ilya were worth the price of the book for me. The tension between them is almost tangible. Without going into detail I was literally sitting up in the bed at midnight so excited about his "help". That is one BAD MOFO!!!

Finally Hannah and Jonas get their own story! I've been anticipating this since I read the first book. The whole idea of a close knit family of sisters with magical abilities intrigued me from the start, but the character of Jonas especially appealed to me. On the one hand, he can be incredibly annoying with his arrogance and high handedness, yet on the other hand there has alway been a sense of vulnerability in him. Plus, he has alway shown such loyalty and devotion to Hannah and her sisters, you just have to forgive him. That said, this is not the easiest story to read. Hannah goes through some horrific events, which while making her stronger in the end, can make some gut wrenching reading. I think what I liked the most about this book was the way Christine Feehan developed their characters. By the end of the story, the reader knows exactly how her two protagonists turned out the way they do, warts and all. I look forward to the next entry in this great series.

Mendocino County Sheriff Jonas Harrington takes a bullet when he finds himself in the middle of a Russian Mafia hit. His childhood archenemy supermodel Hannah Drake uses her paranormal skill to control the wind by calling up its force to save his life.

However soon after rescuing the sheriff, Hannah is brutally attacked and left to die. Ilya Parkenskii keeps her barely alive waiting for the Drake sisters, powerful witches to arrive to save their sibling's life. Meanwhile a stunned Jonas stops running from his attraction to Hannah, vowing to not only keep her safe if her siblings miraculously save her life; he swears he will hunt down her adversary, not understanding what he has vowed to defeat.

Readers who have followed the previous tales of the seven Drake sisters (see OCEANS OF FIRE AND THE TWILIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS) know that the lead couple has been bickering nonstop since they met as children and continue in this paranormal romance until danger stalks Hannah. The story line is action-packed and like the previous sibling thrillers over the top yet the support cast keeps the plot focused. Christine Feehan provides a bewitching Drake thriller starring the pair fans have waited for.

I did enjoy this book, but I can definitely see (and I agree with) the short comings noted by other reviewers. But then again I think that Feehan's best writing is when she is doing short stories like Magic in the Wind (Drake Sisters, Book 1),The Twilight Before Christmas (Drake Sisters, Book 2) andHot Blooded(dark hunger).

I expected the relationship between Jonas and Hannah to have a bit more sweetness, seeing that they have been part of each others lives for so long and have loved each other since childhood. I also agree that the Jonas and Hannah in this book weren't really the ones that we've seen throughout the rest of the series. After a four book build up, I was really looking forward to Jonas and Hannah finally getting their story, but it was glimpse's of Ilya that I found the most interesting part of this book. It even sent me back toOceans of Fire (Drake Sisters, Book 3) to read the parts that he was in. Can't wait 'til 2008.

If you like Feehan's writing style, with its inherent choppiness and tendacy toward being repetitious, you will like Safe Harbor too.

I have to disagree with you on this book. Yes, it is different from all the drake sisters book so far, but you have to realize that the genre of romance writing have changed too and you have to either adapt to the change ( the cursing and eroticism) or choose something else you can handle.
Jonas had always disagreed and was very outspoken about his hatred(feelings) towards Hannah work. Why would you think he will go to NY with her. When you love someone, you are sometimes blinded by their need for you and your feelings toward them.
You wanted to know why Jonas and Sarah didn't telepathically warn Anna of the danger towards her. Well, she was very far. I don't think Feehan ever implied they could telepathically communicate when they are too far. Plus, Anna mentioned something about her power now working inside...maybe that's another reason why she couldn't cry for help either.
Why is Jonas different in this book? Well...Duh!!! it's his book and his time to act. Did you want him to be thesame way he was in the other books? In this book, you get to know what's in his mind and heart...Who he is. He is what we call an Alpha male...all manly and rough.
You have to realize that there is a reason why Jonas was made for Anna. You know he loves her and would never do anything to hurt her, but she is also different...her phobias. He has a way to conteract them and if that involves the way he speaks to her, well right on!!!
You may need to forget the next book..Jolie and IIYa's book because I have a feeling it will be rougher and darker than this one, but as long as the story is good and flows, am pretty sure I will enjoy reading it.
And forget about the picture on the cover; Feehan isn't the only author to do that. Or were you complaining about the similarities between Jonas and the Game books. Both books deal with Magic, telepathy, paranomal stuff. It is only normal that you will think her books are beginning to look and sound alike.
Now about the comment made about the drake sisters powers and house. Well, they may know of their power, but they never fully developed them until now, when they are needed. The house; Feehan had always written about the ability of the house to protect the sisters. Why would anyone think that it wouldn't do what is needed to assure their safety. Again, it never had to before until now. The level of danger determines what has to be done.
Apart from the jolt to the new eroticsm in a drake sister book...which I got over pretty quickly, this book is a gem..

Once again Christine Feehan delivers a story that transports the reader into the lives of characters who are so real, you are forced to believe in magic!

Through the first four books in the series, the reader begins to know and love both Jonas and Hannah. When they come together so early in this book, the reader is left to wonder, what could possibly fill the rest of the pages. Then Hannah is brutally attacked and the reader is sucked in. The reader is gripped by the pain, fear, love and determination experienced by Jonas, Hannah and all of the Drake sisters.

While this book touches on the violence in the world and the violent side to the sisters' magic, it's tempered by their humor, love and comraderie. Feehan continues to develop the relationship between Jackson and Elle and the sparks are palpable between Joley and Ilya. Feehan definitely leaves the reader anticipating the next book in the series!

I really love this series of books. Sometimes when you get a series this long with all the exact same players in every book things get boring or even more common the books become cookie cutter. This is not the case with the Drake Sister's books. In each book you get a surprise and become closer to all of the characters that you have come to know and love. Great job! I can not wait for the rest of the series!!

Ms Feehan continues this wonderful saga of the Drake sisters in the same fashion of her previous books. She captures you from the very first page, and you can't put the book down. Having 4 sisters, I was captivated from book 1 and eagerly awaited each and every story, as the family interaction and closeness of the sisters is depicted so realistically. I was not disappointed with the story of Hannah and Jonas. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised as the layers of their personalities were revealed, finding myself smiling, cheering, fearing for them, and (yes) tearing up. Ms. Feehan's ability to interweave the characters from previous books into each new installment is once again prevalent, and accomplished without slowing down the storyline.

I am particularly pleased with the ending of this particular book as compared to the previous ones. I finished the last page with a satisfied sigh, sighing only because now I'll have to wait another 15-18 months for Joley's story!

Wow! A totally satisfying story of Hannah Drake and Jonas Harrington. Feehan alludes to problems Hannah has had while growing up, but doesn't really pinpoint why Hannah is sooooo shy. Is it because of her empathic senses that she needed to shut herself, mentally, emotionally, and physically, away from others? Wasn't there anyone --- besides Jonas and her family --- who could understand her anguish? Couldn't her aunts, all gifted women, help her to cope by teaching her ways to control her abilities? I would have liked to have read a little bit more about Hannah's youth and how her past lead to her profession as a model. There were little snatches from Hannah's past alluding to her shyness, but not a clear picture of the "why."
Jonas' character has been developed through all of the previous books. He's loud in his protectiveness, bossy, a take charge kind of guy; all necessary attributes for a cop. And, to keep himself in the forefront of Hannah's thoughts, he goads, needles, and verbally jabs at her. How could you not love Jonas? He's a manly man with a gooey heart which, of course, gets him into trouble at the wrong times and forces the "sisters" to rescue him time, and time again.
Safe Harbor is a very satisfying book and makes one eager for the next.

Hate to disagree with my fellow Texan in San Antonio, but I agree with Midwest and "Anonymous." This book would be a good one to check out from the library or to purchase at a garage sale or used bookstore. I, too, put the book down and didn't read it in one sitting, as I usually do books by Ms. Feehan, Nora Roberts, Diana Palmer, Jill Shalvis, Lisa Marie Rice and so on.
Jonas is NOT the slightly irritating yet lovable guy we've met in previous Drake Sister books. In fact, I wonder why it is a lot of romance authors have forgotten what constitutes real romance. A man who is mean-spirited, pushy, and using the f-word all the time or in his more charming moments (?) telling people "Go to hell or shut the hell up!," doesn't make the grade as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, the Harlequin hero from the golden age of romance was, and sometimes still is, a bit arrogant or slightly cruel to the heroine, but it's usually due to a misunderstanding. Stress and the alpha-male personality can create some tension between characters, but in Safe Harbor this was over the top.
We had already met Jonas in previous books and he was likable and protective in a sweet, almost older brother way to all the Drakes. In this book, he bore more than a passing resemblance to the brothers of the latest two "Game" books; I'm glad someone else noticed that or I might have questioned my memory. This book just abandoned or rewrote a lot of the history of the Drakes. We've met a family of strong, magical women and in this one they were portrayed as having a pointless, argumentative tug-of-war with Jonas over Hannah, i.e. protecting her from him.
The sisters previously have enjoyed scenes where they had normal interaction with one another: teasing, brewing tea or otherwise nurturing one another, or visiting neighbors. This was sorely missing in "Safe Harbor." Hannah, in previous books, has had the gumption to tease Jonas, "steal" his hats and stick up for her sisters. In this one, she was a shrinking violet to say the least, even in the first third of the story.
Jonas shares a link with Hannah, yet he didn't realize she would encounter some, shall we say, challenges in NYC? And he and Sarah couldn't send her some mental message over their common path? This made little to no sense to me. Anyone else get that?
I'm with the others: please DO NOT mess up the chemistry, budding relationship between Joley and Ilyia.
Hate to say it, but I'll be trading in this book for credit and I have kept ALL the Carpathian books and the "Mind" books. Oughta serve as a signal to the editors that there's a problem brewing for the Drakes and this time it's not from without, it's from within. (Cue ominous music :)

This book was well worth waiting for! As in each one of the previous books by Christine Feehan about the Seven Sisters, this one touches the heart while still giving you a wonderfully exciting story.

Jonas has been in love with Hannah since they day he met her when they were small children. He has fought for as long as he can but has finally come to the moment when he realizes he cannot live without her! Someone threatens the woman he loves and the alpha in Jonas roars to life and shows us what true love and determination can accomplish.

The danger that surrounds them brings out the "ability" that Jonas has always ignored or tried to hide from. His connection to Hannah is so strong that you feel every ounce of terror that he feels through this wonderful writers storytelling.

A wonderful book and a great read!

Somehow, the Jonas that I knew and loved from the other Drake sisters books COMPLETELY disappeared!! So did the chemistry between Jonas and Hannah. This book could have been so much more if Feehan had maintained the chemistry and relationship that we've seen in the other books. I was looking forward to this book and was severely disappointed.

i wasn't thrilled with this book, and i really looked forward to it. jonas was a jerk (which i got hints of from other books, but was hoping would change - first mistake). and i just couldn't see hannah and jonas as a couple - they just didn't fit to me. the whole book was just off... and the relationships between the other sisters and their prospective men was odd also...

all in all read the book for the information about the series and to keep up, but don't expect too much.

I've been reading and rereading the Drake series just waiting for Jonas and Hannah's story and Ms. Feehan did not disappoint!! I read this book in one sitting and I felt like in this book I was more engrossed and had to read EVERY single word. If I hadn't finished it at o-dark thirty early this morning - I would have immediately turned around and read it again. I love all the past books but this one is by far my favorite of them all. Now I just have to try and figure out how I'm gonna get through until Joley and Ilya's story!!!

The long awaited story of Jonas and Hannah is finally here!
Hannah is one of seven magical sisters and Jonas is a long-time family friend. The chemistry between these two has been hot from the start and Feehan delivers a very believable and loving relationship between these two characters.
Of course there's always action, adventure and danger around the corner for this beautiful and mysterious family.
When something horrific happens to Hannah the sisters must come together in order to save her. But, they can't save her from everything.
Many of the characters from previous Drake sister books are back to help, and foreshadowing for the next sister's books leaves the reader thirsty for more!

First let's start off by saying, this book really isn't one that stands on its own. You have to know the history between Jonas & Hannah. If you do read it alone, it will definately come off that Jonas is a complete jerk to Hannah and the rest of the Drake family. And Hannah is a conceited, superficial twit. However reading the previous Drake books, you'll know that isn't the case at all. Now about the story in general. I loved it. The passion and the action and the adventure were awesome. The magic could've been upped a little but that's neither here nor there. I love how Feehan lays the ground work for the upcoming novel's of Joley & Elle, as she's done in her other books. I believe the only negative point about it was in the way she made Hannah a little on the weak side. Hannah's character in her other books wasn't displayed with so much frailty. She really gave as good as she got. Other than that, Feehan works her magic through the Drakes with aplomb. I highly recommend picking her up and getting lost in your imagination for a few hours.

I have to say, after feeling a bit disappointed in the Dark Series (Christine Feehan's Carpathian Series)they started out pretty good but started to get monotonous later in the series, I was not expecting much with the Drake Sisters, but I am truly impressed. She really brings you into the story and brings the characters to life which is rare with some of the paranormal romance stuff out there these days. One minute I'm sobbing crying and the next I'm on the edge of my seat. Safe Harbour was even better than the previous books. A truly great book that will keep you anxious to see what happens next, but at the same time dreading the end because its so good.

What happened, Ms. Feehan?? This was the story I long awaited and found myself skimming the pages then throwing in the garbage. I loathe weak, whiny women and overly macho men. I was sorely disappointed. Hannah and Jonas were more loveable as secondary characters in previous stories. What a let down. I'm amazed Safe Harbor has as many positive reviews as it does as all of the people I've spoken with who've read the book all agree what a disappointment it was. It will be with much trepidation that I read the next in the series.

This is another great read in the Drake Sister's series. Hannah Drake (model) finally gets together with Jonas. However, there is a lot of turmoil and angst in this book - very typical of Christine Feehan's books! I love it and strongly recommend this book and series!

I have been waiting for this one also, but was expecting more from Hannah's and Jonas's story then what I got. I love the Drake Sister's series as well as all Feehan's series, but this one just wasn't up to the others. I guess what I'm trying to say is she didn't have enough mixture of suspense and romance in this one as she did the others. At least not for me, I'm glad I read it, but it's not one I would read again, as I would the others in the series.

I've stopped reading most of Feehan's novels because I've found them fairly predictable - although the first six or so were fantastic. I have picked up the Drake novels because I find the relationships, particularly between the sisters, to be really well portrayed. This novel was perhaps the best feature of all the sisters together for any long length of time, although those whom we've had more interaction with previously aren't quite so prominent this time. We get a lot from Joley and Elle, however.

I didn't dislike this book; the plot is decent - though you have a really good idea what's going on in the first three or four chapters, and in the middle of the book you want to thwack Jonas upside the head and tell him he's an idiot for overlooking the obvious.

My biggest problem came in the middle of the book. Hannah falls apart, Jonas gets frustrated, Hannah puts herself back together, Hannah falls apart. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. It is tedious and I actually put the book down several times in order to do other things simply because I was bored - and I never do that. I also had a strong urge to shake her; it was disturbing.

Nonethless, if you're a fan of the Drake sisters, it's worth picking up. Particularly for the interaction between Ilya and Joley, which is really great here. I hope Feehan doesn't make the same mistake with their book - which is to give too much too fast, having one character work through (and I use that term loosely, as it took approximately five pages) a 15 year block than prevented the couple from getting together, only to have the other character develop a complex that took the entire book to work out.

All in all, not my favorite read and one I probably won't reread (which I do all the time, particularly with Gaelen Foley, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Karen Marie Moning, etc.), but still a good few hours of entertainment.

what went wrong with this book for me. i think though that it was hannah. i found that, after a while, i really wanted to tell her to get on something for the bi-polar. i know she'd been thru an extreme trama. but after a while, the "now i'm fine, now i'm not" got on my nerves. at least jonas woke up and realized he'd better tell her he loved her(and act like it) before he she was gone forever. i don't regret buying or reading the book, but it's not the best.

This book is so difficult to read because the font is so small it strains the eyes. Business cards have larger font than this book. I wasn't able to get very far to see how the plot goes because it is so tedious and an eyestrain. However, sounds like I didn't miss much according to the lesser star reviews.

I looked forward to reading Hannah and Jonas' story but it took a while to get through it and was very disappointing. Perhaps my expectations were too great after Dangerous Tides which I thoroughly enjoyed. The violence against Hannah made no sense if she has the various Drake gifts previously displayed in the first 4 books, not to mention her sisters ability to intervene. I did enjoy the display of protection their house performed to get rid of the intruders. Maybe a second reading will improve my rating.

Between her Game, Drake Sisters and Carpathian books, Christine is a force to be reckoned. In the lastest Drake Sister book, she excelled. I have been following the Drake sisters for a while and in previous books you could always feel the undercurrents between Hannah and Jonas.... This book put it all together.

The tragedy to Hannah was a heartstopper and the was Ilay helped made you think he just might be an "okay guy"

What I did not like was how the big strong ex-ranger was "weakened" in this book... I understand his emotions but to make him appear weak made him loose some of his appeal.

During this book you also figured out the other sisters mates but not how the story will unfold for their lives.

this is my first review of any of ms. feehans books.. (i love all of them) i gave it 3 stars bc it took me a long time to get into it. i usually devour ms. feehans books within minutes of purchasing it and this took me well over a week before i could sit myself down and finish. i even almost returned it..
but i didn't give up hope and after the first 100 pages or so, i was surprised that i actually did get caught up in the pain and love story of our two main characters.

i do have to add that hannah and jonas story is just as magical although a little more tragic then her sisters before her. some pretty intense scenes. all in all an enjoyable read..

cannot wait for the next two books in this series!

I had to see what happened to the next sister but, was disappointed in the story. The well known character of Jonas seemed to be a totally different person than he was in the rest of the series. I found his description and actions in this book to be totally different than what I have grown to see and think of him as. That really distracted me from the story as I read it. Also, as much as I love Christine Feehan's books her recent ones have seemed to lack something that I just can't put my finger on. I'm sure when the next Drake sisters book comes out I'll get it but, I will have lowered expectations.

Like someone else previously mentioned, the characters in this book were totally different from what they had been in the past. Jonas and Hannah's relationship just didn't jive with the previous novels. I have ordered the next book about Joley and hope that the characters stay to form as they had in the previous books. If not, unfortunately, no more of the series for me. And with the power that the last sister is supposed to have, I truly hope the book lives up to the build-up.

I like Christine books or I use to and yet I could not get into this book, I read the first fifty pages and after that I thought the book was a waste of time, the storyline at the beginning is too action pact, I needed a little more romance. I did not like one of the main character Jonas at all. I plan to read more of the Drake sister series, but just not this one.
