I loved Viper! (Book 11 in the Ghostwalker series)
Christine Feehan has another hit. That's why all fans love reading her series so much. Her Novels draw you into the story from the beginning, and don't let you go. When it ends, you're left wanting more! :)
I honestly can not wait for the next book in the series, as there is so much in this book to build from. I'm interested to know which character Christine chooses to do her next book on; while we all wait anxiously.

Anyone who has read one of the Ghostwalker Novels will be just as impressed with this addition to the series. It is Wyatt' s story (who is Gator' s brother from a previous book in the series). I would recommend reading the series in order as it is harder to follow the overall plot line if you don't. But any of the books in this series can be read as a standalone as well. Thank you again Christine Feehan for providing another great novel, I couldn't put it down.

LOVE the Ghostwalker books! They have become my favourite and I've read everything this lovely author has written ;) Especially when the story is set in the bayou with Nonny :) I hope there are many, many more written from there! XXX

Christine you are definitely my favorite author. Love all of your books. The characters are strong and at the same time gentle and loving. Each book in each series you write is to far between each other. I say this knowing you need time , lol, but you have an amazing mind for writing stories. I hope you never give up writing, even if you live to be over a hundred. Know I always sing your praises to all my friends and family.

You have good plots. Too much explicit sex. This shouldn't be porn.
Put more story less sex so I don't feel like I'm reading porn I just to read a good book. This is the second series I've read all of these

I loved this book! It was nice to revisit the Fontenot family. I have been looking forward to Wyatt's story, and it didn't disappoint. I'm so excited that there are going to be new books in the GhostWalkers series.

I love 'Feehan's' books. Her story's allow me to visit the imagined and the real places I'll never get to. Her books are difficult for me to put down once I start reading. Five stars for one of my favorites.

Christine FEEHAN has created a powerful, exciting, complex and fully engaging world in this series. Each book is never as expected except the fiery chemistry between the H & H and that there will be a HEA, thank goodness. Such a delightful read I look forward to more of Cayenne and Trap's story next.

Just a long wait for this series and all the others from Christine! But I guess that's why they are GREAT!
There isn't one series this author writes that isn't just interesting and you can't wait for the next book. I read all Christine Feehan's novels and love them........

This has an old friend of previous books ~ Wyatt Fontenot meeting & falling for Pepper/LePoivre deCayenne. This one also extends to theme of the southeast charm of the bayou. She's such a great story teller - that I sometimes almost have to set the alarm to turn off the light & go to sleep - I get so involved when reading them!

It was everything I was expecting and more. I was waiting for a GW book for a while and it didn't disappoint. Christine Feehan is the best! The queen of intrigue. Wyatt was exactly how I thought he would be. Although, I thought he would be more easy going like Raoul. He was more possessive and dominant. I can safely say I was not expecting that. It seemed like all the men in his unit looked up to him and needed him, which was a surprise to me. I thought Joe would be the one in that role, but who knows better than Christine. Pepper was a great female lead. She was strong and independent. She was also very vulnerable. Their attraction was off the charts. What made everything believable to me was the fact that both weren't very trusting because of life experiences. Him with Joy and her, basically her life sucked. It was very realistic because come on who in their right mind would be trusting when there is so many questions unanswered. Absolutely loved Nonny, Malachi and the girls, especially Ginger. Ezequiel was great, too. SPOILER!!! My favorite was Wyatt saying he couldn't have daughters he needed rough and tumble boys. LOL so much for that! Life basically laughed in his face. You get three!

Christine is a wonderful author. The Viper was a wonderful book of love and adventure. I if you have not read any of her series especially the psychic soldiers you have missed a lot...

Wow this book shows how versatile Christine Feehan is in her writing abilities. Thank you once again for making me believe in fantasy. I believe this book and all her others are something that anyone should read. Christine Feehan has all kinds of different series that you can pick through or if you like her writing like I do. Read all of them.

I swear every time I pick up any of her books I cannot put it down! It pulls you in and holds you there from the very first sentence. Exciting plots, Alpha males that make you drool, femme fatales, and diabolical villains these books have it all and make you crave more when you're done. I'm already waiting for the next book to come out.

Feehan never disappoints. The creation of viper babies is a new abomination from the always illusive Whitney. The story sizzles and never drags. It also nicely sets up next Ghostwalker tale. I loved the grandmother Nonny and the bound between the men. It's a great and entertaining story.

Drew me in, and wouldn't let me go! A strong woman, babies (!) and the Ghostwalkers! Ooooh! I want the next one already. But this is a good year. The next installments of the other series are coming soon. Always a good choice. These books are keepers.

I absolutely loved Viper Games! Without giving away to much or any of the story: This book introduces Team Four which so far has been the mystery team as well as how Dr. Whitney has contracted with other "mad scientists (my thought of his various helpers) and conducted various other experiments that will change the lives of many.
Wyatt and Penny made this book so full of twists, turns, and to me one of the most scorching romance of the whole series so far! The three little girls I fell in love with even with the twists that were thrown in to create a bit of havoc and mayhem for a few individuals. I love also how there was clues to the next book (or at least I hope it was). If you love Christine Feehan books, just starting to read her books with this book, and especially if you love the Ghost Walker Series this is A MUST READ! I am so glad I did and I can not wait for her next book!

Wyatt's answered Nonny's call for help. Peace doesn't blanket the swamp he calls home....it's dark, dangerous and oh so deadly...Pepper needs Wyatt's help to rescue and protect the babies, but Whitney's been up to no good again!

Been reading this author before e readers were thought of. This was a great addition to the Ghostwalkers. Wyatt has found the one an he's has 3 daughters. Wait till Flame & Gator hears about the girls. Grandmothers is estatic. Who's next. Can see the next one in spider girl that will be interesting. Love the Ghostwalkers. Love the dark sister love all of this authors works. Only complaint I can't get enough of her works. Always looking for the next in series.

As usual Ms. Feehan's ability to keep me on the edge of my seat and reading from cover to cover within two days (at most) is uncanny. I find her works to be absolutely spellbinding. I find her Ghostwalker series so well written that I actually care about the characters and seriously hope that no one like Dr. Whitney exists in reality.

First.... would I recommend this book? If you're invested into the series, I don't know how I cannot recommend it if you have liked the series up until now. Specially, if you have no intention to stop reading her books. You might not like this story per se, but you will want to read it just for the plot development.....if you're like me and have been on the fence with Feehan, stop now. It's not worth it. If this is your FIRST FEEHAN BOOK, please do yourself a favor and get Dark Prince or the first book in this series. Her earlier work is awe inspiring, and genuine masterpieces of the paranormal romance genre. Just avoid anything she's written recently. I honestly wonder if she's even writing these books now, they're that far off from what she used to be.

I've been a huge fan of this author for years and years....but recently I've stopped reading the Dark series and do believe this is my last Ghost series book as well. The narrative is very repetitive – Pepper and Wyatt are either having sex, fighting with each other, having sex, getting injured, having sex, or breaking up according to her, just to have him tell her no, they aren't. There is a lot of bickering and I’m not quite sure why they keep reuniting. In fact, she says she's leaving him so many times, my personal theory is after the book leaves off, she does finally walk out on him and never comes back. That's my HEA ending for this couple.

I typically love an alpha male and don't mind dominate romance scenes.....but this was just wrong. There is one scene *slight spoiler* where she admits to being raped, very recently, and at minimum by my calculations 21 times....he cures her...with sex! This book deserves a zero star rating just for that alone. This in no way adds to the story, it doesn't go anywhere, and that 21 rape sentance was added to the plot just so they could have sex...again. I was left flabbergasted that it went there, and In fact went "what the....?" After reading it, then rereading, it was that out of place and weird. Now I am left just wanting this girl to get counseling, deal with her unresolved self worth issues and find out who she is....not have yet another intimate scene.

As I mentioned, repetiveness was the over all theme of this book....I couldn't count just how many times Wyatt would declare himself to be hotheaded and acting irrational with her, then he'd say sorry, and do it again.....if I had to venture a guess, I'd say that is the absolute definition of an abusive relationship. And Pepper? She just takes it. No backbone whatsoever. Just ew.

My last complaint about this series is the snake and spider shifters....tigers and lions and bears (oh my)...I can get on board with that. Spiders and snakes? Not sexy. They're scary and slimy and things I whack with a book until they're dead and squished. They'd make great villains though! Could you imagine if that cheesy doctor guy had an entire army of sleazy, creep the bejeezes out of you, snake and spider soldiers?! Now THAT would be a good plot! Or, the babies! Serious here..snake shifting, venomous, ultra intelligent and faster then a cheetah babies, that look adorable trying to kill you?!?! ..I should copyright that and sell it to Hollywood as their next major horror flick.....baby or not, if one was near me, I'd punt that thing like a football. They seriously creeped me out to no end and somehow I was supposed to have the opposite reaction?.....not to give anything away, but when the spider person is introduced, I immediately set the book down and thought to myself "My God. They're going to need a really big can of raid to kill that thing!"

Feehan has changed. Again, if you think of her last three books in this series and loved them....get this book. You might not love the story itself, but the plot development for future books is here and you'll need to read it. If, you're like me and have become disenchanted with Feehan, I'd recommend saving your money and moving on.....if you're new to her, please, please, please do yourself a favor and get either Dark prince or the first in this series. Her earlier work, as I mentioned, is amazing and masterpieces of the paranormal romance genre. But avoid anything she's writeen recently. I honestly wonder if she's even writing these books now, they're that far off from what she used to be

I have been a fan from the first book she wrote . I love the dark series ,they got a little repetitive at the last ,love the dragonseekers The Carpathian are great ,they are page turners for me ,but especially love the goastwalkers, they are my favorite. And I was not disappointed this time. I only hope I don't have to wait
another 2 1/2 to 3 yr to get the next one . I'm guessing it will be the spider woman. It has a good story line and keeps you going until the end. Most books I read now days don't hold my attention like this . This one I read in one setting couldn't put it down . The review on other books haven't been so . But this one just shows she still has it going . I don't care as much do the Lycon series ,...sorry thank you so much such a good read.

This is probably my favorite series by Christine Feehan. I just love the strength of her Military men, the woman who love, and need them, and the paranormal/sci-fi twist of the series. I enjoy how she ties the different teams together, and can't wait to see who's story will turn up next. Of all the families in the Ghostwalker books, I love the Fontenot's the best. Nonny Fontenot did an awesome job raising these Cajun boys (even if she is just a character in the books. She brings to mind my own Grandma).

I love every single book Christine Feehan has written, but will admit her "games" books hold a special place in my heart. Her heroines are incredibly strong yet never lose their feminity. This book in particular pulled at me to just keep going even when I was tired. The only reason I finally stopped was I kept dozing off and felt I was missing things. A good nights sleep and I roared through it to the magnificent conclusion. I am so looking forward to the next one and the hero and heroine I already love.

I enjoy these books but felt this one drug on with Wyatt and Pepper's "attraction" and dwelt there way too much. I'm all for the steamy scenes but it's all this book was about. I would've liked more action in other areas. I was just disappointed, that's all.

this book starts out hard and fast and has u wanting to toss the book, e reader, PC, or kindle across the room from the first chapter. The ghost walkers just keep getting better. In this book we get a lot of information on the children from the enhanced soldiers. Whitney is at his games again and we finally get to know team 4. Gators brother from team 1 finds out some incredible information about the experiments done behind his back and meets his match. The children are awesome and really take the series to the next level. Can't wait for the next in the series.

There is a reason that Christine Feehan is known as the queen of paranormal romance. I started reading her books in 2004 and haven't stopped since. She NEVER disappoints, no matter what series of books she's writing, they are all fascinating, action-packed and fast-paced. They are also ALWAYS HAWT!!! Viper Game is no different. It is the newest Ghostwalker book and it is phenomenal! This book is about Ghostwalker Wyatt Fontenot. He is physically and psychically enhanced as are all of the other Ghostwalkers. He is asked to return home to the bayou by his Nonny and, that is a request he can never deny. She tells him she was attacked by the guards of a plastics company that borders her land. When Wyatt has a "discussion" with the guard that threatened and pushed her, he feels that someone is watching him and, when he returns home, finds his Nonny tending to a young woman and a baby. I refuse to give spoilers in a review so, I will only say that this is how he meets Pepper, his mate.
You do not want to stop reading this book until the very last word because it pulls you in from the very first page.

Viper Game. I used to love the Ghost Walker series but no longer. I am now done with it after this book. The females get more traumatized and the males more aggressive (in a bad way) Wyatt like his brother Gator in an earlier book, were the lovable nicer ones, until they met their "women." Then they become aggressive evil parodies of themselves. These men become kidnapping, rapist basically and we are supposed to be OK with that. They take a female that has had all choices stripped from her, her entire life, and make all her decisions for her after knowing her a day -"for her own safety" ofcourse. And become jealous a$$holes.

Too much sex and not enough love. GIST: "I know you have been mostly a bonafide sex slave most of your life, let me show you hove much I love you and care for you, by having very aggressive sex with you. You mad - lets have sex. You scared - lets have sex. I scare you - lets have sex"

Our heroine Pepper and her minor charges, are experiments that should not exist and their "enhancements" are getting just ridiculous. Pepper should have gone "enhanced" all over Wyatt and put him in his place and then left him.

These characters are just too much and not likeable in any way.

WTF did I just read? No really, WTF? The first chapter or so, I kind of heaved a sigh of relief, I could maybe put this series down. This is almost a spin-off of the spin-off of the series. She's introducing new characters all the time without finishing the ones we already have. And the evolution of the powers and manipulations have become more and more off the wall. I don't think I have really LOVED this series since Deadly Game and Conspiracy Game (books 4&5 which I went back and re-read those two this weekend and I still love them). We're on book 11 now, and all I can say is WTF you guys.

We have viper assassin toddlers, y'all. I'm not even playing with you, so let me say it again y'all - VIPER ASSASSIN TODDLERS. I could probably just stop right there, but that isn't the end of the WTF-ery. We also have a heroine who is addicted to sex, but the hero can temporarily "cure" her if she gives him blow jobs. Yep, so that happened, and it gave Feehan a reason to amp up the whole why are they even having sex during this TSTL moment? We also have a man who can walk THROUGH walls, and mutant zombie cyborgs. Yep, that happened too. Furthermore, there was virtually no cohesion with the rest of the series or past characters, just a whole bunch of sequel bait potential heroes. And Whitney's reach has just grown unbelievably vast and his scope so psychotic that I am just waiting to find out that he is being controlled by Xavier, Xaviero, and/or Xavyion, and that the animals he spliced into the Gostwalker genes are actually from the leopards or werewolves, and that Zenith is based off vampire blood. It is THAT crazy.

Unfortunately, for me, I literally could not put this down, and the sequel bait totally worked, because I really must read the next book to see what she pulls out of her hat next. So yeah, I am still in, but I am not exactly happy about it, nor is it for any really good reason.

I have read all of Feehan's novels in this series that came before this one. After reading many reviews on this novel before I read it I was actually dreading reading the book. The majority of the reviews were very negative. They depicted Wyatt as an "A-hole". They also saw that there was too much sex in the book and that they did not want to read about them having sex 10 times and that every scene was just like another. Many said that reading this book was a waste of time. Several said they were Feehan fans but that she really did not perform well with this book. I actually wondered if these were teue reviews or if someone was just filling the site with reviews to encourage people not to buy the book. Because after reading the novel I disagree!! I enjoyed the book & the characters were unique, intelligent, had character & had flaws which for me made them better, more believable characters. Wyatt does have a very dominating personality. He has cat DNA so the need to dominate is very strong. I think he does have a controlling personality but given his line of work that is a necessity. The woman Pepper in this book has been created as an assassin who uses sex as a weapon. The only problem Is that she refused to do it. She has been biochemically altered so that she has a sexual urgency that builds up in her. With that component there's no doubt there will be sex in the book. There were times when Wyatt was a jerk there's no doubt about that. But in my view that made him believable. I've never known a man who was perfect all of the time. He had to ask forgiveness for him not always being in control of his emotions when it came to Pepper. Pepper was a strong enough woman and strong enough character to allow him to be dominant but knew that it did not lessen her position or value in the relationship. Truth be told she held all the control, the cards were firmly in her hands. She is truly like a mommy viper when it came to protecting her little babies from harm.
It was nice to get to know a little more about Nonny that we met in Gator & Flame's book. She's a pistol.
Overall I think this book is a great read. I think many reviews were Unfair & did not depict the story I read at all.

(Ps I give reviews at the end of just about every book I read on my kindle. I don't know about others of U but I have an issue with problems leaving my review. Without fail every single time I've written a review at some point the review is suddenly gone & im back at the end of the book with my review deleted. I seldom end up getting all of the things I wanted to say back down in the review. I wonder if others have this problem or if it's just me. It bothers me that it's happened every time, not just a few.)

I like Christine Feehan's books, I follow her Leopard, Sisters, Ghostwalker series. I was anxiously waiting for Viper Game, unfortunately it fell short. While most of the GW books had a lot of action, this one did not. 60% of the book was read before any action. The beginning of the book mostly about Wyatt and Pepper. While Wyatt loves his Grand mere, brothers and home, he did not treat Pepper like he loved her, at times it was bordering on verbal and sexual abuse and was off putting. He could not get beyond his control/dominance issues and was not tolerable to Pepper's enhancements, like her actions were her fault and was acting the was she did on purpose. This tug of war was getting old as it kept repeating itself, throughout the book. I loved Nonny and her acceptance of Pepper, Ginger and Wyatt's team, a great introduction to a new team, and I already like these guys. I was disappointed that Gator and/or Flame did not make an appearance since it took place at his home. The two were briefly mentioned, but they didn't show up. I wish she would have expanded more about the little "vipers" and how they interact with the new "family" there was not a lot about them. I wonder at this point where Christine is going in her future GW books, the enhancements are getting "interesting" cat, cobra, viper, spider DNA, going through walls, is shape shifting next?? and Whitney, we don't know anything more about him from the last book. I was disappointed with this book it didn't measure up to the other 10 books. I may buy the next GW book, but I am not going to rush out when it is released.

I tried really hard to like this one as I have been a GhostWalker fan for years but I just couldn't get past Wyatt's behaviour. This one ought to have been a kick-ass book as Wyatt Fortenot had proven himself a cool secondary character in Night Game. This time round he claims the seductive Pepper and the three cute but deadly infants that she cares for.

The engaging, laid back Wyatt is gone and unfortunately has been replaced with a whiny, verbally abusive and jealous creep who somehow became a gifted surgeon in the space of a few years. Wyatt is a study of contrasts and this irritated me. He claimed he wants nothing more than the love of a good woman but when he has it, he belittles her. He claims that he is a family man but he spends very little time with the kids. He claims to feel sorry for what was done to Pepper but then blames her for acting according to her genes. There is a fine line between being a strong, sexy Alpha male and an abusive ass. Wyatt could have so easily been the former but he degenerates into the latter.

Pepper was one of the weakest women I've seen in the GhostWalker series and I can't understand why Feehan would have done this. She was genetically made into a seductress to attract men but the scientists failed to erase her personality which is far more retiring. Pepper has zero control over her ability to inspire lust in others and satisfy her own lust. Too long without sex and she is in agony. We are therefore treated to lots of scenes where Wyatt has to have sex with her to stop her from being in pain. As tropes go, it is a pretty convenient one for Wyatt but it didn't work for me as it tipped the power balance firmly in Wyatt's favour and he exploited this repeatedly. Other GhostWalker women would have called him on his behaviour but Pepper keeps going back to Wyatt and willingly caves under his abuse.

This book felt unbalanced as there were so many sex scenes randomly inserted. I'm afraid that I ended up flicking past some of them because they were not well integrated and didn't advance the relationship, characterisation or plot. The genetic enhancements were taken to a whole new level and seemed to move us from the scientific world to the paranormal one. Enhanced existing capabilities is one thing but shifting through walls is a different matter. The introduction of physically enhanced soldiers rather than mentally or psychically enhanced ones was a nice touch but more could have been made of them.

I really enjoyed Wyatt's grandmother Nonny but she wasn't enough to negate the bitter taste left behind by Wyatt. Not my cup of tea! If you are wavering though, I suggest you read some more reviews or perhaps borrow this one out from the library so you can make your own judgement.

I will preface this by saying how much I enjoy Christine Feehan.
However this book is poorly written, with little to no character development beyond the I'm a controlling obnoxious pig male lead and the but I love him weak idiot female. Frankly the worst book I have read from this author. There is no story development, nothing really beyond the we met, I am going to control you and the female saying "ok".

The premise that a 17 month old child can run so fast she is a blur, can't talk but signs and is a meld of snake and cat stretches even my well developed ability to overlook the absurd while lost in the authors world.

Sad too as I looked forward to Wyatt's story. If I could have given this less than 1 star I would have.

First the positive. I love the Ghostwalkers and think Feehan has a great imagination for her characters, and love her story lines for the uniquely talented, enhanced characters that populate this series. I think I have every one of her books, and usually in both Kindle and Audible formats. This story has great potential, and what story there is was great. Unfortunately, this book is about 10% storyline, and 90% not so imaginative (and SO repetitive) sex scenes of the filler variety to stretch a novella or short story into a full length book. Fans of the series will no doubt want this addition, but don't expect too much from it.

This book was beyond bad. Mrs. Feehan is one of my favorite authors so I hate having to give this a bad review. It started strong but went downhill after the first couple of chapters. My biggest problem was Wyatt. I hated him! After getting dumped he runs to the man (who tried to kill his sister in law) to get enhanced. He then comes home and meets Pepper. I thought Mac in Street Game was an overbearing jerk but he looks tame next to Wyatt. He turns into a lunatic if Pepper even talks to a man. I'm not gonna mention his behavior about sex because it's creepy. Pepper is a doormat! What little story there is, is overshadowed by Wyatt's bossiness, Pepper's whining, and sex. The only reason I gave it a 2 is because I love Wyatt's grandmother.

Two stars for the idea of using snakes as a Ghostwalker and for Nonny. The rest of the story was terrible! Wyatt was an abusive jerk who wouldn't know love if it bit him on the butt! I was so disappointed in this book!! I love the Fontenot family, and after reading about Gator, figured his brother would be a decent and compassionate guy. I got a little sick to my stomach during the sex scenes and had to skim over them... he took dominance to the, again, abusive level.

I had high hopes for Pepper as well. She was one of the weakest Ghostwalkers Feehan has ever written about. I ended up liking the kiddos more than the two main characters. The secondary characters were fun to read about, too. Though with Feehan's penchant for characters with split personalities, I wager they'll all end up being complete douchbags like Wyatt when they get their own books.

Oh, well... it's hit and miss with this author. I'm glad I only borrowed it from the library! Maybe next time?

This book could have been so much better. I've loved this series so far but this book was awful. I totally hated the main characters. I liked Wyatt in the past but he was totally different in his book. There was not a single thing likable about him in this book. In fact I hated him. Pepper for being so dangerous and deadly was just down right pathetic and weak. And so broken. She thought herself as worthless and a failure in all ways and instead of being supportive, encouraging, and even loving Wyatt was just abusive, dominating and demanding of her. He accuses her of trying to bed every male that she looked at. The non stop telling her that she belonged to him and only him was so over the top used that it made him seem mental and obsessive rather then romantic or dreamy. If all that isn't bad enough the author writing has gone the way of Laurell K. Hamilton's in that the book is far lacking in actual story to instead be replaced with sex and more sex. If they are not having it they are thinking about or talking about it. Bring back the story please or just end the series already.

Um, well, this will be a difficult review to make. The story was a very good one. New team. New bad guy. The new team was very interesting with potential for more books about them. Whitney still doing insane. Grand-mere was awesome as before. I was disappointed Gator and Flame had no roll in the plot. Seems like that might have been an important tie-in. I was disappointed in the main characters. Pepper had been through so much, but her personality resembled that of a doormat, nothing more. There was no fire in her character. You would think she would be pretty strong and protective. The worst part was Wyatt. I'm sorry but I found no redeeming qualities in him at all. I was extremely uncomfortable with his character and expected him to change into a human being at some point. I like characters that are a bit alpha. I can even do overprotective with a tiny side order of possessive. But mean, cruel, abusive, and a bit of a rapist? Not so much. I actually found myself speed reading through the sex scenes because the brutality and rape like quality almost made me nauseous. I will continue reading the series because the plots and storyline are brilliant. Four teams now and stakes just keep getting higher. Whitney keeps getting crazier. The Ghostwalkers grow in number and get stronger. That part just keeps getting more intense and intriguing. I just hope abusive males and doormat women don't become the norm.

I'm sorry to say I didn't love this book. I LOVE the Ghostwalker series (as all of Feehan's other series as well) but the repetitiveness throughout the book had me skipping and skipping and skipping until I found something that wasn't the same idea to read. I love a lot of hot sex in a book but the usage of every time he thought of her was a sexual thought left me not liking the characters very much. I know that was her "enhancement", but I would've liked to see him able to be the one that can control it. I think this could've been an amazing book, very different with the viper and the girls but I just feel like Feehan didn't take it anywhere. Still looking forward to reading Trap's book...and hoping his story will have less aggressive passion and more story line rather than wanting to stick it to her every time she opens her mouth.

It’s been almost three years since I read the last GhostWalker book, but I was back into the storyline in just a few sentences. Welcome to a world where a sociopathic evil genius scientist changed soldiers into supersoldiers, not only enhancing their latent psychic powers (what they signed up for), but also crossing their DNA with animal DNA. And other scary things …
So if you think, o another genetic altered soldier story, you are right. But Christine Feehan’s first book in this series was published in 2003, so keep in mind that this was (one of) the first series with this topic. And in my opinion, one of the best. Especially the earlier books.

When Wyatt’s grandmother calls him to come home, as there are some strange things happening in the bayou, he brings some of his friends with him. They have been ambushed recently and they are all recovering from their wounds. But if his grandmother needs him home, he will be there as soon as possible.
So when he finds out that some security guard to a factory building in the swamp has harassed his grandmother while she was harvesting the herbs and plants for her medicine, he has to teach that guard a lesson in manners. Because no one harms his grandmother! She took him and his brothers in when their parents died, and raised them. They were not rich, and it was hard work to keep them all fed and clothed and educated, but she did it with love.

When Wyatt finds out that the building was once owned by Whitney, he is immediately suspicious. Especially when he meets a woman who has escaped the place with a little girl in tow. She is like him, a GhostWalker, even though she denies it. She is just a reject, a failed experiment, while he is a true soldier. Because Whitney did not just experiment with mature soldiers, whom sort of consented to it, he also experimented on little girls he bought from orphanages, or just made an orphan. They had no choice, no say in whatever happened to him. And he also paired them together, biochemically. Something that has made for some great couples lately. But Wyatt’s counterpart is poisonous, literally. She was created to seduce and kill, but she refused to do it, even though she was in heat constantly, and that earned her a place on the list to be eliminated. Along with three littly baby girls, who are literally vipers.
So when Wyatt finally gives in to the knowledge that Pepper is created just for him, that he can cool her fire, he is determined to keep her for himself. And to rescue the other two little girls that were left behind in that place. But first, he will need more of his friends to turn his grandmothers’ home into a fortress…

I do love this series, but Wyatt is certainly very highhanded. He doesn’t give Pepper much of a choice to figure out living on her own, when she has lived in captivity most of her life. Also, the heroines in this series are often much more kick ass, for me Pepper was a bit too docile. Wyatt kept her under his thumb most of the book, and she did not show much spirit. I like equal couples a lot better. Yes, she did fight and kill when necessary to protect her loved ones, but she did not enjoy doing it.
Also the plot is not getting much further either, Dr Whitney only plays a part in the end of the book, and I would really like the teams to close in on him, or for him to make a move on one of the babies he so desperately wants.
There was a lot of talking and sex scenes and too little action for me. But I am very much intrigued by Wyatt’s team members, one of whom can literally walk through walls, and who encountered a woman who was made into a Black Widow spider. That relationship sure looks promising as this man is totally not capable to casually interact with other people but also brilliant and extremely rich.

So, while I did enjoy this story, I did not love it, but I do want to read the next book.

6 stars.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: Enhanced soldiers, deadly women, and some little vipers!

Opening Sentence: Wyatt Fontenot tied up his airboat, but stood in it in the dark, listening to the familiar sounds of the bayou.

The Review:

I have read like the first five books, but must have hit a not reading much period in my life because I haven’t read book 6 -10. However, the one thing I liked about this series is while you are missing some information by not reading all them, they are books that can be read out of order or missing some and you don’t feel lost reading them. So no clue if Viper Game picks up after Samurai Game or not but Viper Game does hit the ground running. Wyatt has returned home to his beloved bayou after some trying missions and being wounded. He has also returned with two of his fellow ghostwalkers.

But something is up in the bayou, food and clothes are being stolen from locked houses with no signs of break-ins! While trying to figure out of all of this, Wyatt finally stumbles across the woman and child that are hiding in the bayou. Pepper and Ginger are also enhanced but considered very dangerous and were to be exterminated by the Company. This is where it got a little unfamiliar for me, in the first couple of books they finally take down Whitney and it seems like the enhancements and experiments are over.

Clearly this is not the case! Wyatt finds out Pepper tried to escape with three girls, but the other two toddlers were caught while they were escaping. The little girls are vipers; their bites are venomous and dangerous. Wyatt and Pepper fall in love while plotting the rescue of the two other girls, which they find out are their biological children.

It was easy to see why I initially had liked this series so much when it first came out, not sure why it fell off my radar, most likely I wasn’t paying attention to when the new ones came out and then so much time had passed I just forgot. I am seriously inspired to go back and read them all. This is a solid series with great characters. Plus, the author has really built up the world and background and it just works!

Notable Scenes:

“A shiver of awareness went through him.”

“He knows we know just about everythin’ happenin in the bayou.”

“He brought you here, created a reason for escape and a reason for me to come home.”

It had taken three little vipers in jeopardy to open his eyes.”

FTC Advisory: Jove/Penguin provided me with a copy of Viper Game. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series had been a favourite series of mine, with a clear exciting plot and strong defined characters. Unfortunately those are not in this book. The hero is a Cajun Doctor who decided to become genetically enhanced to get over a broken heart, and a heroine whose body is a deadly trap for the men she comes into contact with, and then throw in 3 babies who have venom in their bite. The plot which has great potential quickly becomes bogged down in lots of naval gazing from the central characters, whose every thought Ms Feehan wants to share, even in battle or passion.

I can imagine Wyatt or Pepper raising their hand to their brow and starting every thought with "Woe is me...." The Plot becomes as thick and murky to wade through as the Cajun swamp the story is set in and the motivation of the characters is worried over by Feehan with lots and lots and lots... of dialogue but never fully resolved. A frustrating read

Hmm, not sure what to say about this book other than that I read it too freaking long. Seriously, I've started it in January, yes you've read that right and I've only finished it now. I just don't know why it took me so long. There were parts where the story lost my interest and I had to put it down for a (long) while. I think some details could have been left out, it would make the story more dense and more interesting. Aside from that I really liked the plot and all the versatile characters. Lots of action, romance, OTT moments and hot guys. What's not to love, right? Oh and granny was awesome, too. I definitely wouldn't want to meet her with a gun in her hand, that lady sure knows how to use it.
All in all, this is not a bad read but for me it was too slow. I wanted things to sort out faster but that's just me, so enjoy the story if you want to read it! :)

I was happy to see a novel get back to Wyatt but at the same time on another end I kind of wish we would get a book that explored more stories or with more depth both Whitney and the original crew because I feel like we as readers are losing touch with what started the series to begin with. I know Christine is expanding the world of our Ghostwalkers and showing just how vast it is but at this point its pretty evident already how massive it is and how far it goes. I would like to see an exploration into Whitney on a deeper scale because I have a feeling there is so much there that could be brought out with twists that many don't expect including if we got to have more of Lily and Ry, Nick and Dal... everyone - because I feel like we are losing touch with the whole purpose of its origins and the emotional dilemmas, and the insane plot that created it all.
Readers are having to wait too long between installments, we get a lot of repetition of the same conversations with different characters in the various books but I really don't feel like we are moving forward with any of it. More and more of the outcasts are coming together and finding eachother and we get tiny tidbits and snippets but we aren't getting that same explosive plot surge we used to get like we did in the first book- Shadow Game.
That's not to say that I didn't enjoy Viper Game because I did. I always enjoy Christine's work but I would love to get back to the roots of the story so that we can stop being stalled out.

Christine Feehan's GhostWalkers is one of my favorite romantic suspense/paranormal series so I was really excited when I saw this book, only to become concerned when I saw the mixed reviews. And, in truth, I can see where everyone is coming from, even those I don't see eye-to-eye with.

It's true the stories are changing from the way they were in the beginning, but they're changing in ways I would expect them to, given Dr. Peter Whitney's diabolical plan and desperation to create the perfect soldiers. The experiments are more and more extreme, and more and more heartbreaking. The truth is, I found Viper Game to be more exciting, more captivating, and more intriguing than the last several books in the series. Yes, Wyatt was often a jerk, but considering Pepper's "enhancements" and her inability to control them, it's a wonder to me that Wyatt allowed any of the men on his team to live beyond the first few chapters!!

Okay, it's late and I just finished, so I'll wrap this up before I fall asleep sitting here, but I sure hope future GhostWalker stories are this good!

Not being a romance reader per se, I love the Ghostwalker series for the action and the enhanced, super soldier plot line. However, the reptilian hybrid component was a tad repugnant as well as the super power of the heroine, formulated to be a deadly, sexual predator. I was also surprised at the sharp shift in Wyatt's character, introduced as an easy going man in Night Game. Here, he was almost unrecognizable in his controlling alpha behavior. The heroine needs to seriously work on her self esteem issues but I did like that Pepper stood up to Wyatt when he tried to bully her. Also, the numerous the sex scenes were too grauitous and took away from the main action.

Nevertheless, I related to Pepper as a fierce and devoted guardfan to the three viper babies. Those baby girls broke my heart with what they had suffered in the lab. It was that family component of Viper Game and the intriguing new Team that made me fall headlong into the story. I love Wyatt's fierce grandmother, Nonny, as well as those precious little girls and Wyatt's teammates.

Though I'm not fond of spiders, I'm not as repulsed by the arachne species as by snakes. I was very intrigued by Cayenne and look forward seeing her and Trap make sparks fly in the next GW book, Spider Game.

So glad I waited for the library's copy.... Sad, sad sad. I've read a lot if novels and stories by this author over the years and this book just fell completely flat. The characters are all one dimensional, even at the end the girl still wants to flee. Speaking of the ending, he mentions the fiercly loving viper woman he wants to keep but not the three helpless babies they just plotted for three-quarters of the plot to rescue?? Really? This book is simply about sex. Rough, bossy, or killing kind, its all talking and sex. So much so I actually skimmed half the story just to make sure the babies are safely rescued. There's one nice little throw-in to the black widow probably being Trap's mate which is cute, but that covers it. Not even an epilogue to fill in that everybodys settled and the babies are happily adjusted or anything, just more sex. I'm tired of the same sex and talk from Feehan, I'll be seeking new authors. You can only milk the cash cow so many different ways.

The ghostwalker series has a lot of different twists and turns in the enhancements that the main characters have. The common thread is the horror of the experimentation that's done on them. The Fontenot family is wonderful with the inclusion of Nonny, the grandmother who accepts pretty much everything and everyone. Christine Feehan's imagination is limitless, apparently, in terms of the situations and "gifts" the characters find themselves in and with. I'm reading all the series, though sometimes these books can be very intense.

This book started out great then, the so called leading lady was added and the book slowly disintegrated into a total waste of my time. I have just started reading CF books. In fact this is my third one. I thought it would get better. I was wrong. I think it is because her female leads have no maturity. The male- female relationship is uneven. All these women do is bow down to whatever the man say. They supposed to have all these enhanced powers but none of them possess a backbone. In all three of her books I have read, I skipped through nearly whole chapters. I started reading the Ghostwalker series books 6, 8, and 11. I was disappointed in the first one I read and wanted to see if others would be better. No Luck. Their the same. I'm done. I read the insert from one of her Leopard series. It sounded interesting.

I checked Viper Game out from my local library. I used to read everything Feehan, but the last few years, I haven't found them as appealing. Viper Game was a perfect example of why the charm has worn off this beloved series for me. False conflict, created to get the protagonists in bed. In this book, Pepper is a fierce, protective mother to three babies, but take away the kids, and she loses all confidence and falls in to a trap of self-loathing. I was so tired of the repeated cycle of Pepper's lack-of-confidence, I should leave-- and Wyatt's no you should stay, let's go to bed-- repeat, again and again. The book would have been a hundred pages shorter if this silly false conflict had been resolved and characters moved forward. Die hard fans would probably love the book, I'm simply disillusioned. The only reason this isn't rated 2-stars, is I enjoyed the plot and action sequences.

luckily, I checked this book out at my local library. I'm so glad i didn't spend my money on this drivel. I wasn't greatly impressed with Samurai Game, but I let it slide. This travesty of a book does not even rate for publication.
I have one question. Did Christine F. and Laurell K. H. get the same ghost writer? They seem to follow the same formula.
Take great series, get people hooked with awesome characters and an amazing plot, slowly move away from great characters and plot. While moving away from great characters and plot, replace them with repetitive sex scenes for page fillers.
Please, no more.

Not her best effort. She got stuck in pages of pages of repetitive sex and it seemed like it was because she lacked enough plot twists to fill out this GhostWalker book. Is there a push to write too many books too quickly? It seemed that there might be. She needs to re-group, develop her characters and the plot and knock back on page after page of sex descriptions.

I was surprised by all the negative reviews for this novel. I considered that it was one of her better reads recently for this series. I was fascinated by the ideas of strong familial ties that Pepper had for her "children" and that Wyatt and his family had for them. And also intrigue by the genetic combination of human, snake and other that the evil Doctor manages to always get away with. Also surprised by people response to this genre. You do realize that Feehan is a erotica romance writer don't you? She always has been since the beginning and that hasn't changed. The substance of the story makes for a fascinating and interesting read than just ordinary erotica. The only weak point that this series has and that I find that all Feehan series' have is the inability to weave the story more dynamically into previous storylines and characters and to carry forth the plot to interesting cliffhangers or resolutions. The only series that does a better job of this, I feel, is the Seahaven series'.

I usually enjoy Christines books, but over the years shes been depending more on endless sexual encounters. I felt as I read along this book it was decending into not so soft porn. Pretty much all the book was ...sex. You will lose some of your readership. I been aloyal reader of most of her series, but this one had little plot...? Get back to the Carpathians, and the Sisters, this track was actually offensive to me and I don't usually find her books so.

The Ghostwalker books used to be my favorites, but Feehan has taken the outrageous macho dominating characterization from the Leopard novels and merged it with the Game series. I, too, hate the macho crap she is promoting. Wyatt is a terrible character. He is definitely no hero, much less romantic. His only redeeming quality is taking responsibility for his test-tube children. The sex is degrading any way you look at it. What woman wants to be talked to the way Viper is talked to? Really, Ms. Feehan, where are you coming from? I could not finish the book, it was so disgusting. I'm done reading her books. She has ruined a good series.

I have read a few of Christine Feehans books and enjoyed them. But this one...this one is a total turn off. I don't mind racy sexual content but the power trip Wyatt had over Pepper was so not cool. This is the first time I have ever read a book where the lead guy was actually disgusting and a turn off. He had self control issues with his anger and jealousy and blamed her for his inability to control them. Wyatt kept saying she was HIS throughout the whole book and treating her like a possession and then had the audacity to say she had free will to make her own choices. She disappointed me completely - she had no personal strength about her and was a sex slave going from the laboratory where she was created to the sex slave prison of his backwoods home. She is no kind of woman I would look up to or want other women to look up to. Additionally Wyatt was so ignorant in his actions and word that I could not convince myself that he was a medical doctor in this story.

Do the negative critics understand that these people are NOT humans? They are genetically altered people who naturally respond with aggression, borderline abuse, and non-human reactions. If you do not like this kind of Hero, do not read her books! This is typical of Christine's Ghostwalker. Yes, the plot is predictable, but all of her books have a "happy" ending, so why criticize the predict
ably? Personally, I like the sexually enhanced heroine & the aggressively/cat enhanced hero. They complement each other, which is the author's intent.

Eleventh in the GhostWalker military paranormal romance series and revolving around psychically and physically enhanced men, women, and babies. The couple focus is on Wyatt Fontenot and Pepper.

My Take
When I heard there was a new GhostWalker installment, well, I was so excited I started counting down the days. When I got it, I hovered between gotta read it right now and trying to hold off to make it last longer. Feehan managed to make it last longer all by herself. It was endless, and I was so incredibly disappointed.

I don't know what's going on in Feehan's life or if she's getting confused with all the series she has going on, but this reads more like a story from her Leopard People series — overly melodramatic. She must be feeling desperate for drama as well, so she brought babies into this mix.

The page count is pumped up by all the repetition. Jesus. I liked that Wyatt insists that he and Pepper talk out their issues before they make stupid moves, so naturally an additional trope has to include Pepper getting ready to run every other minute. Without talking to Wyatt. Because she's so flawed. He can't possibly love her. She's dangerous to him, to his Nonny. Oh, woe, she must flee. Without talking to Wyatt. Even though he's so dominating and strong. So protective. Gag.

Yeah, it does go on and on like this. No, I lie. It's worse. Wait'll you get to the end of the big battle scene after Pepper has killed a man using her wiles. Oh, no! She killed someone to protect the babies and the team. Oh, she must be so flawed. Wyatt will hate her forever. More gagging.

Feehan repeats this garbage over and over. God forbid you should forget how much Pepper hates and fears men. How much she loves the babies. How possessive Wyatt is about Pepper, but he hates women. I got to wondering, as Pepper yammers on about how unworthy she is, why doesn't Wyatt tell her about Flame?

There's the descent into the insta-attraction melodramatic trope. Pepper feels the attraction to Wyatt's confidence, his ability to dominate, command a room, the sheer sexual pull. Naturally, Wyatt's heart did a curious somersault and he stirred … she was built for long, lazy nights on the bayou…. Of course, neither likes the other sex. They've sworn off men/women. So we spend the entire story fighting and having sex.
Ya know, I do enjoy sex scenes, lovemaking, whatever you want to call it… and I found myself skipping a lot of it. Partly because Wyatt is so clumsily dominant and irrationally jealous.

Feehan is also clumsy in portraying the initial team — Wyatt, Malichai, and Ezekiel — as having cat genes. Oh, she tells us every some clutch of pages, but if it weren't for the tell, I'd never know it. She talks about the men having a need to hunt, to rage because of the cat within them. We never do actually go hunting, unless it's to go to the evil compound. I suppose you could say their defense against the attack at the house involved hunting. Technically.

While I like that Wyatt is trying to communicate, that he comes to see Pepper's perspective on his actions, I don't understand why he's so quick to be mad angry-possessive. Yeah, yeah, I know all about the cat genes making him territorial, but it's out of all proportion.
"I'm the boss, not bossy, there's a difference."

Feehan sets up the possibility for tension in the team over Pepper — and not just the sexual attraction aspect — and whether she's part of a trap. But it doesn't go anywhere. It gets a few mentions, and that's it. I guess it was easier just to cut-and-paste the I want you / I don't want you along with all the sex onto the pages (over and over and over) rather than use her brain to develop this.

There are some funny bits in here. Wyatt's "teaching" the granny-bashing guard some manners, Draden's reminders to Trap to be nice, the encounter with Harley and the snotty Lucia, Nonny's stories about how she raised the boys. It sounds beautiful and so very cozy and homey.

Um, if you're planning to include French in a story, know that the language has the formal vous and the familiar tu. I don't think lovers are using vous between themselves.

Feehan says "the Fontenot home is old, even for the bayou", and then she goes on to repeat how the boys Nonny raised built the house for her. Huh, I thought those boys were only in their 30s, and I gotta confess, I don't think a less than 30-year-old house is that old.

Oh, gimme a break. Wyatt's complaining that Pepper didn't tell them how many guards would be on the roof, and a few paragraphs later, he's stating that they "reconned multiple times". And Pepper's so brilliant, she doesn't think to warn the boys about the enhanced soldiers Braden has?

If you have time to waste reading, go ahead BUT get it from the library.

The Story
There are strangers in the bayou and a terrified woman with a baby on the run. She's desperate. Desperate to return and rescue the two babies who were caught when she and Ginger escaped.

Now Wyatt and his friends have come home in answer to Nonny's request, and they won't be putting up with such behavior. Nor allowing anyone to hurt a child.

The Characters
Pepper is a GhostWalker who believes she's flawed. She's been trained to be a seductress who can kill with a bite, and her body has been manipulated to put her into an ever-increasing heat if she goes too long with sex. She and the viperous, 17-month-old babies who run like the wind, communicate with ASL, and are obviously very intelligent — Ginger, Cannelle, and Thym — are scheduled for termination.

Dr. Wyatt Fontenot grew up in the bayou with the ability to hear others in his mind and do psychic healing. He left in a temper, making a poor decision. Grand-mere, Grace Fontenot, is Nonny, their 80-plus-year-old beloved, respected, very intelligent, plant-gathering grandmother who raised her grandsons and lives in the bayou. Raoul, a.k.a., Gator, is one of his three brothers, and he's married to Flame (see Night Game , 3).

Wyatt's team of GhostWalkers have been…
…psychically and physically enhanced and cat genes added to their DNA. Their day jobs are in the Pararescue Jumpers, an Air Force Special Forces team. Malichai and Ezekiel (can manipulate snakes, frogs, and insects) Fortunes are two of the three brothers who raised themselves on the street (Modichai will show up later) with Mal and Zeke part of Wyatt's initial team. Draden Freeman, a.k.a., Sandman, was a model before he went for the enhancements, and he's an amazing medic.

Trap Dawkins is a billionaire who retains everything he's ever read and decided to go for the enhancements *eye roll* (he can get through any building and is a straight-up assassin) — they call him the iceman. He has no clue how to behave in society and doesn't care enough to be nice, although Wyatt says that Trap feels compassion. There's an interesting insight much later in the book from Trap and why he befriended Wyatt. And he's being set up for his own story. Daryl Monroe is Trap's assistant.

Lily Whitney Miller is Whitney's daughter, and she hates everything her father stood for. She's married to Captain Ryland Miller, the leader of the GhostWalkers (see Shadow Game , 1).

Wilson Plastics is…
…run by Dr. Braden. The boys believe the compound is a blind for human experimentation. The guards include Blake, Larry, Jim, and Pierre is one of the enhanced ones.

Cayenne is a new reject brought to Wilson Plastics.

Dr. Peter Whitney is the evil mad scientist all the GhostWalkers have been chasing since Shadow Game and his ugly head is raised up in this one as well. Violet Freeman is officially a widow and a traitorous GhostWalker; she's hooked up with Whitney.

Delmar Thiboudeaux owns the Huracan Club and saw the Rougarou that haunts the swamps. A traiteur is the local healer whom Nonny supplies with plants. Joy Chassion is the popular girl whom Wyatt had thought he loved. Mrs. Marsh owns the clothing store and is the biggest gossip in the area. Harley Jetter is an old friend from high school who chose to stay on the river. Lucia is with Harley, but angling for Wyatt's attention. Alain Daughtry works as a shoe salesman now and has always thought he has a right to any woman he wants.

Sergeant Major Theodore Griffen ran one of the GhostWalker teams.

The Cover and Title
The cover is well done. Pepper is gorgeous with her bedroom eyes and the pink scales beneath them, the pouty lips, the black hair twisted into a loose braid with a very snake-like roundness, a pattern of scales embedded into her hair. The background is deep in the bayou, overgrown with trees and plants. Look carefully and you'll see the green snake slithering down along the right side of Pepper's head.

The title is too accurate, for this deadly maneuver is a Viper Game.

Not enough sensitive lover, too much controlling and potentially abusive jerk. Too much fluff talk during the prolonged sex scenes and not enough plot.
I love this author and her other books, but did not LIKE this character and almost didn't finish the book because of it. "Real men" don't need to threaten a woman, no rationalizing accepted.

If I had read the book, I might have been able to get through it by skimming, but with the audio book, you can't do that. I have listened to all the Ghost Walker novels and have enjoyed them all to some degree, but I could not finish listening to this one. The narrator does his usual fine job, but the amount of sex in this book was over the top for my taste. SPOILERS AHEAD! I also did not like Wyatt's attitude with Pepper. He really lost me when he forced her to give him oral sex. I could have lived with poison babies, but I didn't really like them and the rest of the book was a real turn off for me. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because I have enjoyed this series up til now. I'm looking forward to Earth Bound being released soon and I hope she hasn't gone overboard with the sex in that one. I like some sex with my story, not just a book about sex.

It would have been a good book... if she had cut down the seemingly endless and frankly sometimes disturbing sex scenes. I'm not sure I can even finish this book now. I want to know what happens, but I'm so turned off from the first sex scene and how slow everything seems to be moving. Sigh. Usually love her books, I'll probably try to finish it and hope for more. Can't really recommend this book.

I loved it. I love the series and this installment didn't disappoint. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters; they had some really great lines between them. I like how Wyatt fought to keep Pepper, and how he wasn't afraid to jump in with both feet. He knew what he wanted, he understood why she was a afraid to commit andhe worked to prove to her that he wasn't like all of the other men that were in her life, that he was strong enough to stand by her and love her. The action was adventurous, suspenseful, and passionate. The fight to get Wyatt's other two daughters, he has triplets that he didn't know he had, thanks to Whitney meddling again, was detailed and had great description. It had a great storyline. Wyatt comes home after being injured in an ambush attack and he brings two of his friends with him back to the home he grew up in and back to his grand-mere, Nonny. I liked seeing Nonny again, she is such a great character. While home, he finds out that his grand-mere had been bullied by some military-typed men, and he goes out to teach them a message, that you don't mess with Nonny. While there, he finds out that Whitney is up to no good again in his backyard. He meets Pepper and a little girl named Ginger. He is drawn to Pepper and he realizes that Ginger is his daughter (she was made in a lab and put into a surrogate, along with her two other sisters Thyme and Cannelle). Once he meets them, he begins his adventure to rescue his other two daughters and win Pepper's trust and love. This one ends with the introduction of Ceyanne and Trap, who has their story next, Spider Game. I am excited about the next one. Wish I didn't have to wait till January for it, but it will probably be worth it.

There are certain authors on my auto-buy list. By that I mean authors whose new releases I purchase sight unseen. Christine Feehan happens to be one of those authors. That being said, this was not one of my favorite books by Feehan. The Ghost Walkers series is a long running one and it’s pretty fantastic if I do say so myself. So of course I expected nothing less in this the 11th book in the series.

Although filled with action and great characters, I found it a bit slow to really get started. The story just seemed to drag on far longer than I felt was necessary. That being said, eventually the story did pick up. However, I still I found a lot of the dialogue to be redundant and unnecessary. At times, even the main character comes across as a real jerk and not likable.

Perhaps it was wrong timing for me. I just couldn’t seem to get in to the story. Do I give up on it entirely and call it a day? I’m thinking no. On the off chance that maybe it was a fluke and I was just not in the right frame of mind for it, I’ve decided to wait a couple of months and try rereading it. Feehan had never let me down before Viper Game so I see no reason why this time would be different. So my current recommendation is Read at your own risk.

What happened to this series? It started out so amazing in the beginning. The first several were great and I was so in love with this series at first that I named one of my twins Kaden (wanted to name the other one Ryland, but the hubby vetoed it). The last few books have left me sorely disappointed and with a full year between new books? I've almost completely lost interest. It's beyond discouraging. Viper Game left me questioning whether I should bother to continue with the series.

I have enjoyed Ms. Feehan's books in the past. Unfortunately, the last few have been tedious with a lot of similarities between them.
Innocent, 'broken' woman who meets a tortured man. The woman is uber submissive and just wants to be all she can be to satisfy the man, not from any real growth of her own character.
There was a lot of talking and 'showing' rather than 'telling'. The couple just talked about the same things over and over: She doesn't think she can be what he wants her to be and he says it doesn't matter - over and over again. Very disappointing.

I've been a big fan of Feehan's work for some time now and I can honestly say this is the first time one of her sex scenes had me putting down the book and walking away. Wyatt, originally a fun character, is now basically a rapist. He's pushy in every way and the first sex scene in the story basically has him dominating Pepper to the point that when she says "No" he curses at her and forces her to continue, thinking (of course) that the man knows what a woman wants. News flash here, when a woman's body says yes but her mouth says No....it's No. And seriously how many times does he need to snarl that she is his and his alone then force her to say it? UGH, it's irritating that she's making once strong men turn into animals and excusing their actions saying it's ok to act like a jerk because they "can't control themselves". That's the main principal behind every story so far of her's and I really like that the first Ghostwalker books were different. I love the Carpathian saga and while the Jaguar saga is 'ok' it's getting pretty limp (no pun intended) as well. It's a shame because I enjoy some parts of the book, like the Viper babies and I LOVE Nonny but honestly I wish some of the characters were written a little better. This is the first time I am going to have to force myself to finish the book, just on principal.

Too much of a good thing can make one weary. This is a series that grasps, pulls and never let go. As good as it is...I want a happy ending for all the Ghostwalkers which means death to Dr. Peter Whitney. I must say Wyatt Fontenot is the show stopper in this book. Wyatt is the younger brother of "Gator" a ghost walker from a previous book. Gator is loveable but he has nothing over Wyatt. Wyatt will make every woman head to the Bayou.

In ‘Viper Game’ we meet GhostWalker Wyatt Fontenot. Wyatt has undergone secret military experiments that gave him special cat-like abilities. Together with other GhostWalkers Wyatt decides to come home to his grandmother, after she called him for help. Wyatt and his brothers grew up with his grandmother in the bayou and Wyatt has missed his home. But Wyatt is up for a huge surprise when he meets the seductive and beautiful Pepper. Pepper also has her secrets and her job is to protect three little girls from an evil man. But from the moment Wyatt and Pepper meet they are linked together and they soon find out that they have an amazing and incredible bond.

In the beginning of this book I felt many different things. I loved the setting in the Bayou and the swamps, I loved the characters Wyatt and Pepper, I loved the bond Wyatt has with his friends and grandmother but I didn’t really enjoy the relationship between Wyatt and Pepper. It just felt a little off for me, since they met and very shortly after they decided (or at least Wyatt did) to never be apart from each other ever again. It happened so fast and I just didn’t really feel that connection. But I kept reading because I was definitely curious about what would happen next.
Thankfully I felt myself enjoying the relationship between Wyatt and Pepper more and more. And in the end I really liked there connection and their love for each other.

The main characters Wyatt and Pepper are definitely strange and at times a little difficult. Wyatt is handsome and can be very sweet but he is also very dominant, jealous and at times vicious. This guy really made me angry when he was acting all dominant and told Pepper what to do. But I did understand that was just the way his cat abilities and his character worked. Still it bothered me at times.
Pepper is beautiful and seductive and she is able to make every man go down on his knees. But the thing is, Pepper doesn’t want that ‘gift’, she hates it and tries hard to escape her faults. The thing about Pepper was that she changes her mind just a lot of times. In the end I just wanted to yell ‘NO NOT AGAIN!!”.
The character I definitely love the most in this book was Wyatt’s grandmother Nonny. I could totally imagine her being a real person. I loved how she was the oldest, and smallest of the group but she definitely was the toughest. Everybody respected her and I loved that.

This book was definitely a nice one. I enjoyed reading it and even though I didn’t love everything, I still couldn’t stop reading. At times the ‘sexy’ parts took a little to long for my taste, but they were definitely enjoyable. This book wasn’t only romantic, and sexy, there was also a lot of action, fighting and thrilling moments. I can’t wait to the next Christine Feehan book, she’s definitely able to surprise you.

When I read the synopsis for this book, I got excited. I was going back to the Bayou with Gator's brother Wyatt. I liked Wyatt in Night Game, so I was ok with the author introducing us to an entirely new enhanced team, while leaving stories about already established characters left untold.
So I was all excited for this book until I started reading it.

The Wyatt I remembered and the Wyatt in this book are two different people. Wyatt was an abusive prick in this book.
"When I say mean and hurtful things, you're going to handle it."
In what way is a man allowed to berate and belittle a woman, and then tell her when he's like that she just has to deal with it? How is that ok? Am I really suppose to find that sexy?

Pepper had no back bone when it came to Wyatt. He made her feel bad about herself and she really did nothing about it. When she finally started to stand up to him, she caved under his pressure, and they ended up having sex.

There was way too much sex in this book. It did nothing to further the story along, but it did allow me to skip pages and get through this book faster.

The only things I did like in this story were the side characters. I hold a special place for Nonny. I really liked Trap, Ezekiel, and Malichai. I can see Trap getting his own story in the future.

This series has never been like 50 Shades. Wyatt is not a Dom, and this was not BDSM. The author totally missed the mark with this story.
