My title says it all. Another excellent Elvis Cole novel by Robert Crais. If you haven't read him, you should. If you're already a fan like me but haven't read this book, it's time. I will continue to buy Robert Crais' excellent books.

I have gotten really hooked on this series from the first book that I picked up while being deployed in IRAQ in 2010. Once I got home I have been catching up on the rest of the series of Elvis Cole books. I am not only a big fan of the series, but I also was able to use the books to help me with a writing assignment in my writing class last year. Just like the late Robert Parker series Spencer for Hire. Mr Crais has given his reader's a private detective who is tough, loyal, honest and very deadly when he has to be. Can't wait until the next book in the series.

Once again, Crais puts together a story that keeps the readers interest while touching so many familiar images and keeping consistent with other Elvis Cole/Joe Pike stories. I continue to enjoy and recommend this author and his works.

The name Robert Crais is associated with the best in mystery/crime novels. I am reading all his books for the second time.
The way he shows "Pike, the Killer" and "Pike, the Compassionate, Ethical Man" is astounding.

When I'm looking for sure-fire reading pleasure one of my favorite authors to turn to is Robert Crais. This adventure features Elvis Cole, but there was enough of his sidekick and partner to give me my Joe Pike fix too. These novels are ageing pretty well regardless of the leaps ahead in technology since this one was written. Elvis can't help but do some serious self-doubting when a man he helped clear of a murder charge is found dead with evidence to suggest Elvis was wrong. The police department is so busy covering up whatever it is they are doing with the case that Elvis and Joe have to go back and find witnesses and evidence from years back. Not an easy task.

Okay, major over-do with the emotional baggage of one of the families of a murder victim, but the point was made that victims didn't live in a vacuum before they became a crime statistic. It didn't really matter to me in the end because I've read some really mediocre - and below - books lately and it was wonderful to curl up with this novel that kept me entertained and reading long after my usual bedtime.

Elvis never fails to entertain me and this book was no exception. I love both he and Joe. While Joe does not play a major role in this book you know he's around covering his friend Elvis. Even if I'm reading another book, I put it down and immediately read any new delivery written by Robert Crais.

Craig is always entertaining. The Elvis Cole novels always teach you something people you might never meet. Interesting plot.
Cole never takes himself too seriously, but does the right thing in his own way.

I have never found complaint with Mr. Crais, His humor and his ability to draw the reader into the story is without equal. I will read anything this man writes and be tell everyone I know that this author is one of the best.

I always enjoy Elvis Cole and Joe Pike (even when Pike is a minor, minor character. I was not disappointed this time either. I did figure out the "bad guy" shortly before Cole did, but it was a surprise. Good reading.

I have read Robert Crais for many years. Craig writes very well, describes things so you can envision the scenarios, and always has a wonderful set of characters. Elvis Cole is a private investigator and Joe Pike his best friend. This book is no different from the others: fast moving, great characters, well written, touch of humor and many plot twists. Read Elvis Cole and Joe Pike novels and enjoy!!

Another excellent work by the master author. Mr. Crais spins a web of mystery so complex that when he reveals the answers you realize the ending you thought was the answer was not even in the ball park..
