I really have enjoyed reading Lisa Genova's books, so I was anxious to read this one. I work with children who have autism so I could really relate to her story which she developed so beautifully intertwining two different women's lives, both of whom are going through a difficult time in their lives and how each woman finally found resolution to her problem , including how Anthony helped.

I loved this book and Debra Messing's narration of it. Truly a beautiful book. The author's note and epilogue had me in tears it was so moving. I like the author will help others to move to awareness and acceptance of anybody affected by Autism Spectrum disorder. People have mentioned that I should read this others book and I am so glad I did. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is not Lisa Genova's best book. She focuses more on the mother and her grief and guilt feelings -- and I know there's a need for an exploration of that -- but previously she's done such great work at writing inside dementia (Still Alice) and inside left neglect (Left Neglected) that I was really hoping for an inside look at autism.

As with Still Alice by the same author... this book keeps you wanting to read more.. hard to put down. Excellent story. Also I bought a used copy and it was just like brand new! Very pleased with seller!

This book starts off like a chick lit romance and I wondered what I had jumped into. It soon develops into an interesting story, part about autism and part about marriages. The way the story of each comes together is skillful.

I enjoyed this book alot and it certainly helped me understand autism and parents who have a child with autism better. As a grandmother of a child with autism, it really hit home for me. I thought Anthony was portrayed beautifully. Written from his viewpoint, made it so much more believable and gave me a greater depth of understanding of just what it feels like to have autism.

Wow! Have always enjoyed Lisa Genova's books but this was especially good. As the aunt of a boy who has autism, I found the book gave me so much better an understanding of not only how my nephew feels but the impact his situation has on his parents! I did not think anything would match Still Alice. This may have been even better.

An absolutely necessary read especially since there are so many children today with autism. Author portrays a plausible situation into the difficulties to relationships as well as families. Can't recommend highly enough to everyone.

This is a great story about friendship and family. The characters are likeable and easy to relate to. Lisa presents our autistic character in an easy to understand fashion and is not too heavy on the science of autism (as some stories are to the point of overshadowing the character as just an individual in the story). I like the intertwining plot lines which keeps the book flowing and impossible to put down.

I loved Lisa Genova's other books and was excited to see she had written a new one. I was so bored that I started skimming pages, then finally gave up about two thirds of the way through. I found the characters and the story very boring and predictable.

This novel had some elements that were not entirely believable, sure, but the main theme and thread were brilliantly followed . I think that every parent of a child with autism should read this book, and everyone else too. The ending is beautiful, and teaches us an undeniable truth.

I really enjoyed this book. Such a shame that children on the autism are so little understood. Hopefully in time more will be known about this increasing phenomenon. The book is well written and tugs on the heart strings. Highly recommended

What strikes me about this book is how Anthony chose to speak through Beth. After reading Still Alice, Left Neglected, and now Love Anthony, I have to wonder if Lisa is a conduit in real life. How else can she speak convincingly from the point of view of three totally different issues. I enjoy her stories & walk away feeling informed and more empathic than before. No small feat.

I learned so much about children with autism and parents who have a child with the condition.
A great and compelling story that really pulls at the heart. Thank you Lisa for another great read and the education I received.

Of Autism in this way. Lisa Genova challenges the reader to come out of their comfort zone with their pre-existing beliefs about this medical condition to accept a new reality. It is such an eye opener - and one that I hope will open my eyes about other conditions and those brave souls who carry the condition. Another inspiring read by Lisa Genova!

While working with many children with autism , I have developed a greater understanding of who they are and what their needs are. This book epitomizes much of what I have observed. Lisa Genova accurately portrayed Anthony. I found her characters to be interesting and well written. just couldn't put the book down.

Easy to read with a powerful message as the story "crescendos" to a enlightening conclusion. I highly recommend reading the questions for a book club discussion to help you dig deeper into what might be dismissed as a "light read". The lesson for loving Anthony applies to life in many ways.

Lisa Genova is a brilliant author who works to unpack complex neurological disorders to make you not only understand them but also to empathise with them in a way that was not possible before. I am a nurse in Australia and ever since I read "Still Alice" I believe I have been a better nurse - I can now understand to a much greater depth the experience of living with Alzheimers. This book is now being passed around all of my nursing colleagues and not only are we crying but we are improving our practice so that patients with dementia are not as scared.
The way Lisa describes Austism in this book is mind blowing - the concept of rooms, including the horror room, is so easy to understand, just by reading this book alone I now have a much greater understanding of Autism and the various disorders that accompany it. Lisa is an amazing author and I would highly recommend this book.

This was a unique and multifaceted story. I was gripped from the start. By the time we heard Anthony's voice, I shared Olivia' s need to understand what was going on in his head. The people in the book had authentic, realistic relationships. The story is so human and real. I feel uplifted by its message.

I first stumbled on Lisa's work through Still Alice. This was a refreshing change in the books that I have been reading. The story telling style was intelligent and well written. The story line was well crafted and the characters are relate-able. I started to search for other books by the same author and was blown away by Love Anthony. I cried in the end, and I really not an overly emotional type of person. Although I am an atheist, I also appreciated that although she has a strong science background, Lisa has made this story a lot more intriguing by exploring the potential spiritual connection between Anthony and Beth.
I have just downloaded Left Neglected and can't wait to be absorb by her next work.
Lisa, thanks for your gift to all of us.

I truly enjoyed this enlightening book as it told the story from several perspectives how growing and healing are essential to growing the human spirit. Although about a little boy with Autism, the book describes the uncanny connection between two women who unknowingly share deep sorrow, and ultimately, impact each other's lives in a profound and unexpected way. A non-religious but spiritual, uplifting read.

I bought this because a colleague of mine said it was a good book - I was hoping for a book that was more about Autism from the perspective of the boy (and sometimes his mother), but I'm getting more info about relationship stuff (which is definitely a part of being a parent of a child with Autism) than I wanted. Still a fine book to read, though.

The plot was a little contrived, but I enjoyed the author's attempts at interpreting an autistic child's mind, the difficult decisions we make in life and how fate often intervenes. I've never been to the east coast, but her descriptions seemed plausabile and having lived in a community dependent upon the tourist industry I enjoyed her depiction of the love/hate relationship with the summer residents. I read Still Alice a year ago and enjoyed it as well-Ms. Genova's books are easy to read but thought provoking. Looking forward to her next book!

I love that Lisa Genova is educated, perceptive, and emotionally connected with her subject. I have read her other two books and looked forward to this one. I was not disappointed. However, this was not my favorite. Like Olivia, I wanted an ending for Beth. There is a hint but I needed more.

What a fantastic book!!! This is the third book I've ready by Lisa Genova. Each of her books is very cleverly written from the perspective of the "sufferer" of the disease. Love Anthony is funny, touching, moving and a page turner. I absolutely loved it!

I recently started working as a paraprofessional to special needs preschoolers, and was very fascinated with the subject matter of this book. This is an amazing book, and although it's a book of fiction, the author has obviously done a lot of research. All through the book, I kept saying, OMG that's what I see in these kids, and it really makes sense. Thank you to the author for helping the reader understand what might be going on in the minds of these beautiful, autistic children.

As a health professional, I was intrigued by information the author related about autism. I've always wondered what thoughts austic children had and why, specifically, they have certain repetitive actions. I thought the stories of the women was interesting, but at times, detracted from the child's story.

Loved the way the author took two women living parallel lives and had their path cross because of a common remembrance. Very informative and involving. The author approaches a growing childhood condition and approaches it very artfully from the standpoint of a grieving mother and a sensitive writer. Very poignant. Highly recommend it.

I got a bit anoyed with the two female protagonists in this novel while also feeling very sympathetic to their situations. "Love Anthony" presents the stress families experience with an autistic child. The plot is well structure and held my interest.

I know Lisa Genova's writings and think she covers a very hard topic again.
Well written but a little confusing as some of the characters seem to hover in and out of the story.
A difficult subject to write about but the parents are well drawn.
I only gave it 4 stars because the ending was a let down after the rest of the book. The main part of the story rang true but the ending was just "what you want to hear" and lost touch with reality.

Lisa Genova has painstakingly provided us with insights not only into autism, but into relationships. It is through understanding relationships, that we understand our world. This is a wonderful portrayal of the world in which we live. Thank you for a wonderful read!

Wonderfully written book. I have read all Lisa Genova's books. They never disappoint. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors.
It is apparent just how much research goes into her books. Her stories are not only entertaining, but also educational. She puts the right amount of humor, heartache, and happiness in all her books while keeping the reader glued. I absolutely love her writing style and can't wait for her next book!

I absolutely loved Lisa Genova's Still Alice. When I read all the fabulous reviews of this book, I could not wait to read it. Yes, Lisa does convey the realities of parenting an autistic child in a very real way. But she expects us to believe that Beth, a mother with no experience with an autistic child, is able to write a perfect book from the perspective of an autistic child. We are supposed to believe that Olivia's tragically deceased autistic son is being channeled through Beth's writing. We have believable characters and beautiful writing, but an absolutely preposterous plot. I guess there are people who believe this sort of tale, but I am not one of them and therefore I did not enjoy this book at all.

Genova does it again with this wonderful story. She weaves the strands of two different women's lives into a wonderful whole. While Alzheimers was very much a part of Still Alice, Love Anthony is more than a story of autism. There's a bit of a stretch to accept the "coincidence" that pulls the story together, but the strength of the story makes this a small concession for the reader.

Lisa Genova is a top notch storyteller. Her sensitive writing puts you right in the mind of Anthony's autism, and helps you to better understand just what he is feeling. She did the same in "Still Alice", dealing with early onset Alzheimer's. "Love Anthony" deals with two stories, featuring two women, and the way their lives intersect is amazing. Do yourself a favor and read this book immediately! It's a touching, educational book that nobody should miss.

Still Alice and Left Neglected were so great, I bought Love Anthony and was not disappointed! I enjoy how Lisa Genova brings awful illnesses and happenings to light. Love Anthony made me cry but it also made me understand how those who are given hardships, somehow find the strength to carry on. I came away from this touching story with tears in my eyes but a deeper understanding of autistic children than ever before. I love every word that Lisa Genova writes.

Lisa Genova has another winner here. She tells the tale of an autistic boy from 3 different points of view... and they are all incredibly believable.

Beautiful, touching, powerful.
This puts a personalized face on Autism and makes the condition more understandable.

Friend who is a social worker recommended this to me right after my little grandson, 2, was diagnosed autistic. Gave insight into plight of parents who want the best for son but can't agree what that is. Am not giving it to my daughter yet because child dies early in the story.

I truly enjoyed the characters, the author makes them such believable people , I would have swore that this was based on a true story instead a work of fiction. I also read Still Alice and I loved that too. I will always be looking out for any new books by Lisa Genova.

I liked this book but found myself skimming through some parts. It seemed to start off well but then seemed to have no place to go. Even though this story was a bit far-fetched and a bit predictable, it was still a good read and a good one for book group discussions.

It was based on Nantucket which made it even better for me. I really liked the interwoven characters and love that Lisa Genova chooses to write about such sensitive subjects in a very eloquent manner. I missed the review that was supposed to happen at the Antheneum on Nantucket because of Hurricane Sandy.
