I purchased this for a border collie who has lost his right hind leg. When it arrived today it helped him walk for the first time since loosing his leg. It has been a life savior for me as I have severe nerve damage in my lower back and legs.

I was very disappointed in this lates Rita Mae Brown effort. She often propounds on her political views, but this was an entire book dedicated to the issue of governmental control and how it interferes with people's lives.

Old stories written by dead authors, new stories written by authors still alive, can be just as good to read today as they were when written. Reading about Regency England is my favorite time period to enjoy. I picked this story because the author's style of storytelling matches my reading interest level. A complicated plot and storyline to challenge me as I read.

Rita Mae Brown has often at times gotten a little preachy in her books. But fortunately you can just skip through those sections and get back to the action of the book. But this book is sooooo boring and preachy from start to finish. While her green viewpoint is important and I heartily agree with her opinion the book is just one complaint after another about the current state of political affairs. She did her characters and Sneaky Pie a real disservice using them in this gratuitous way in order to sell a treatise on her environmental viewpoint. She is obviously hoping people buy this book because of the love of her characters and I think the vast majority of them will be disappointed. I don't know how it could be called a novel when there is no plot what so ever. I regret the Kindle price I paid for this book. It is so short in length that it does not justify the price in any way. I should have gotten the free sample first and then I wouldn't have wasted my money. I don't feel I can trust her as an author anymore and will definitely get a free sample before I buy another one of her books.

In "Sneaky Pie for President", Rita Mae Brown "attempts" to do something a little different with the animal characters in her novels & her life & have the cat Sneaky Pie decide to run for President of the United States in the 2012 election. The biggest question this reader has after reading this book is - why? The book itself is a loose collection of interactions between the animals set in & around the area of Crozet, Virginia where the novels in this series are set & is pretty much all interaction with the animals & nothing with the humans. The plot is so thin at times that it makes the book at times unfollowable & honestly I as a reader don't care. The only thing Brown does manage to accomplish is a bit of humor amongst the 4-legged characters, a nickname for the can opener, & a platform that honestly while being fictitious is one that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Overall this book is an idea that while meaning well probably shouldn't have been written & is only for the diehard fans of the Mrs. Murphy series. Anyone else, skip this book at all costs.

I downloaded this book through my local library e-book program with the store, and am very grateful the store is doing this. But, this book is just not as good as the usual Sneaky Pie Brown stories. It starts out with Sneaky Pie and her friends having a discussion of what is wrong with politics in America and what they can do about it. The short answer is "nothing" but that is reality and this is fiction so Sneaky Pie decides to run for President.

My response is "Who cares". I try to avoid all the negativity from Washington and hearing a bunch of animals talk about it is not entertaining. I think the author was trying to point out the outrageous lengths elected officials go to in order to win votes but her examples weren't outrageos enough to be funny. For example, a titmouse (a little bird) being told his name will be changed because some politician wants all the salacious words removed from our language. And an un-neutered dog wanting "sex, sex, sex"--not funny.

I love the Sneaky Pie Brown mysteries and I hope the author returns to writing what she does best.

Could have been cute and thought provoking, instead it was 228 pages of radical political opinion with some pictures of animals. Essentially, it's everything you hate about your Facebook newsfeed, except you paid for it.

This is the first and last book I will read by this author.

Was told about this series of books and thought it would be a nice change from my regular reading and I started from the first book and I stopped getting them when I arrived to this one. There was a clear pattern emerging as I was continuing the series with less interaction with the animals and classroom lectures that went on page after page, for example...grape growing. It is not the same as at the beginning of the series, with the main character now remarried and no longer at the post office. I think it is time to end the run on these books.

If RMB wants to write about her political and social views, fine. Just don't put it on the backs of the animal characters. Her animal friends are best when they make wry and humorous observations on basic human nature. This book is preachy from start to finish with little action to sustain it. I agree with many of her views, but I think this was a serious misstep and a disservice to her animal friends. Save the sermons for a work of nonfiction.

BTW if you are looking for a really GOOD RMB book about her animal friends, I can recommend Animal Magnetism. A good read.

This is NOT a mystery book. It's totally political and boring. Couldn't get passed the 3rd chapter. Will keep it with the rest of her books on Sneaky Pie for now. Tired of the writer's political viewpoints being expressed in her books anymore and way too much historical background information makes the stories drawn out. She used to write good mysteries....what happened? Don't buy this book as it isn't worth it.

Sneaky Pie is forming and directing her own exploratory study on a presidential run for office. We get insight into the farm life of the writing duo, of Sneaky Pie and C.O. & the varied political points of view of the both the tamed and untamed of S.P. constituents. A new statement on the governed of the United States is revealed. FUN.

I think her regular Sneaky Pie books have too much philosophizing by the animals, and now she's written a whole book of just them spouting her political beliefs? Even though I agree with her for the most part, I don't need to read about it coming from a cat.

Favorite takeaway has got to be the idea to require neutering for those running for political office. i have used a line of Ms Browns as ann email signature for years. paraphrased as not missing out on life for the almighty dollar. This is not the usual Sneaky Pie. But I'm betting that this is a pretty true picture of what the "lesser animals" think of humankind!

The title says it all as Sneaky Pie Brown adopted by Rita Mae Brown is tired of the humans destroying earth and harming the non Homo sapiens population with their chemicals. Like any caring politician, Sneaky Poe listens to his constituency (consisting of the creatures on land, in water and in the air) for their concerns. The woodpecker dines on bugs, but the sprays kill their food. Others agree that pesticides must be banned. Fish state that the humans must end their polluting of the waters and land animals decry the hunter stalking mentality to claim a trophy. Sneaky Pie even gains the support of the rodent population as the non-humans rally behind their feline candidate.

Her friends (Pewter the gray cat, Tee Tucker the Corgi, and Tally the Jack Russell) support her bid because they believe that if Sneaky is president she can end the human destruction and make the world a better place. With a nod to Furry Vengeance and Animal Farm, fans will enjoy Sneaky Pie for President as she and her buddies make her case in this cautionary anthropomorphic tail.

It's wonderful to see James Madison given credit for his huge contribution to our country. He may have been a small, sickly guy, but it was this quiet, contempaltive life that lead to the ideas and ideals that made our contry great and unique. It's fitting that the seeds of a tax revolt may once again be coming from Virginia and from the rural life that Jefferson and Madison knew would sustain our new republic. Let's hope for a rebirth.Thank you, Sneaky Pie. Beatrice Rose (Miss Pug) and Mother (Mary Beam)

Unfortunately the book is just a vehicle for Rita Mae's green agenda. Sneaky Pie and Rita always have a fun story to tell and a mystery to solve.....Not so this time. The book rambled around too long and mercifully came to an end.

I loved this book - it provided great insight into both sides of the political debacle we are in now - between the liberals and the conservatives. And it was all spoken by animals !!! I thought it was brilliant ;)

This book uses animals to push the immoral liberal agenda. The author is entitled to her views, but be honest. One reads a novel expecting an interesting story and to get editorials pushing an agenda is disappointing.
