I had no familiarity with Haylie Duff beyond her role on ND.. I was very happily surprised when I stumbled on this book. It is truly lovely. I am not a recipe girl. I love making up my own recipes, so when I purchase a cookbook- of which I have hundreds- it is for inspiration and aesthetic pleasure... And let me tell you- this book is STUNNING! Coffee table worthy photography. Pure food porn. I don't eat meat except on extremely rare occasions and am very concious of how often I eat dairy or eggs, but when I choose to do so- I will be running for this book first. With a little imagination almost all of these recipes can easily be adjusted to fit a flexible plant-based diet. I am truly impressed with how beautiful and inspiring this book is. Super grateful I found it. Will be seeking out her show and looking forward to more published offerings in the future!

Was disappointed by this book. I love cooking shows, and had caught hers a few times, which prompted me to order the book. But when I received it, and realized that her cooking skill is at a completely basic beginner level, I was disappointed. Good book if you're just starting to cook. All I can say is I wish I was a C list actress. I could get my own cooking show from it.

The book is beautiful, and the photographs are inspiring. The book is much about Haylie as it is about food. It's really more "life style" if you know what I mean. It sounds like she has a wonderful, even enviable, life. Her little blurbs make me want to try many of the recipes. I got it out of the library and it is on my list of "to buy" books, but I haven't yet... so.... only 4 stars.

The pictures and stories of this cookbook is gorgeous, and you can tell she put a lot of effort into that. I just wish she put just as much effort into the receipes themselves. They are for the most part, basic and there's not a whole lot of them. She did a face mask on her show that was not included in her cookbook, which I was disappointed by since I thought her cookbook would feature a lot of these methods of using organic foods for different things besides cooking. Still, I'll check out her second attempt if she decides to do another one...

This is not your traditional cookbook. The recipes aren't laid out like I am used to but instead reflect the recipes given to me by friends. Very simple, uncomplicated directions that anyone can follow.

I do like the layout of the book. Really beautiful pictures in it of the food, family and friends. However, not too many recipes. Some real basic, some personal favorites. My deal is the usage of prepackaged foods. Crescent rolls, really/!? I like her soups, dressings, and vegetable sections. Her desserts fall flat with too much packaged ingredients. Overall, good for some inspiration but falls flat to any seasoned, more advanced cook.

I use cookbooks for their recipes; received this one as a gift and ended up reading it cover to cover! To be honest, I also loved looking at the pictures. I found the recipes simple and good and I love the way they're organized. I tend to cook something based on what I have in the frig and the pantry, and this cookbook works that way. I have a choice of recipes using kale, for instance. Totally worthwhile book.
