Enjoyed this one from Salvatore. The plot twists were genuinely surprising. The key characters familiar to fans of Salvatore, some of the new beasts and foes were great additions. Can't wait for Salvatore's next installment.

I quite enjoyed this entry in the Drizzt series. Drizzt is, as ever, a bit of a Marty Sue. However, what I really enjoy is the machinations of forces surrounding Drizzt, for whom the protagonist is more force of nature than foe, and this book has that in spades.

This story has some strong points with the over all mission to reclaim Gauntlgrym however the characters start to drift off into Ed Greenwood antics (and not in a good way!) wasting time and the story ends up with a rushed ending.
Legacy of the Drow, Book 4 - Legend of Drizzt :: The Legacy: The Legend of Drizzt, Book VII :: Icewind Dale Trilogy, Book 2 - Streams of Silver :: Legacy of the Drow, Book 3 - Siege of Darkness :: Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Reprint) (2015-07-22) [Paperback]

I'm surprised Salvatore has been able to resurrect interest in this series after the Forgotten Realms time jump that seemed to derail the story. This book has definitely gotten things back on track and made the characters fun again. I must say I find the morally ambiguous characters Salvatore writes about much more interesting than the Companions of the Hall at this point. The endless reflection Drizzt blathers on about gets old after 20+ books. Luckily, it's kept to a minimum as this book focuses more on the Drow of the Underdark and the Dwarves mission to retake Gauntlegrym. I'd keep reading this books even if it got stale because the characters are so rich in history and the author's writing style is fun, but I'm glad to say it's back to his previous form as a story teller as well.

Just when you think Salvatore can't possibly come up with anything that will truly shock-and-awe you after 30 or so previous Drizzt novels, here comes this latest book "Archmage," which weaves a tale so epic that by the end my head exploded!
While the Companions of the Hall press forward in their quest to retake Gauntlgrym from the drow, and Matron Mother Quenthel Baenre solidifies her iron-grip upon the ruling families of Menzoberranzan, Gromph Baenre and Kimmuriel Oblodra unknowingly become involved in a scheme that may turn out to be the Spider Queen's ultimate demonstration of chaos!
I am incredibly eager to read the next book because of how great this one was!

As always , RA Salvatore has done it again. This was a good read and I am sad when the book ends. I am sad because I have to wait another 9 months to pick up the story again. The level of intrigue keeps you guessing. RAS is my favorite.

Among the many twists, R. A. Salvatore delivers a brilliant fantasy story that stops short of nothing - his rendition of conflict between the Drow of the Underdark and the Dwarves of the Surface World keeps us, the readers, on the edge of our seats! Loved it!
