The MC was intelligent for once and interesting. The story was entertaining and compelling. It took me a while to figure out the other characters but they all had I say in the story and contributed in their own way. I like where this is going and look forward to the next book! If you like the genre you should give this a shot.

This is an amazing example of litRPG, the setting, characters and npcs are well fleshed out and interactions between them were great. I am a worldbuilding junkie and this book really hit the spot.

One thing that seems to be a big issue for the litRPG genre is "balance" and this book handled it perfectly, the main character is strong and clever which has him taking the lead but hes far from invincible and what he does gain has been balanced so well. Gives you that "badass but fairly so" feel.

Thank you for giving me a few days of entertainment :) really enjoyed it! This is a book I wish I could have a hard copy of for my shelf, because I know I will be coming back to it. I actually read it via kindle unlimited but ended up buying the ebook anyways, definitely worth supporting this author! Cant wait to read the next book!

Great LitRPG and good story. The story is all about what happens in the game and is not about the outside (yet anyway). The protagonist is also not a lone wolf, nor does he gets any real big specials beyond his starting point which is also a nice change compared to some other litRPG.

The game mechanics of character building, quests and leveling appear to be thought through, allowing the players to work towards a set goal (which is an important part of RPGs). More importantly, as a reader I like to get a bit of insight in the leveling process and not get the idea that game mechanics are an after thought even a mostly skill-used based game like Elder Scrolls has strong elements of choice after all with their talent trees. A few other things make less sense from a game perspective, such all tens of thousends of players starting in the same area or how players can screw other players over to an extend that would get people to simply quit the game. Mind you, the book also shows the problems this creates and it makes me very curious what is going on.

Looking forward to part 2.

One of those novels that once you get imbedded into the story, you just can't put it down till your at the back cover. Very nicely done with the whole Nemesis, only to be a solid twist. Can't wait for book 2.

Awaiting the next instalment. Cudos to the author for this one, very well done.

This is not part of trend I have been seeing lately. Short, overpriced, flat content. Hopefully other authors will take som pointers and start publishing books at this level.

Ascend Online has an extremely well developed world as well as awesomely creative characters. I rarely give a book 5 stars because I feel it should indicate a near perfect book. If this book had been proof-read and the needed corrections made, it would have gotten that 5 star rating from me. It is so action-packed and exciting I barely slowed my reading at several mistakes that normally would have thrown me completely out of the story. There are very few books I have read, thousands, that could claim such distinction. It is so much more than a standard RPGlit tale. I highly recommend it even with the grammar issues.

Also please note there is quite a bit of cursing, primarily the "f" word.

Another fantastic Litrpg book! Amazingly well done, world building and characters are great, the game mechanics are also solid and well explained without getting bogged down with minute details that would detract from the story itself. My only complaint is the 'hook' of how the characters get into the game itself, the numbers in the text do not go well with how easily they got started with the game. I realize that probably makes no sense unless you have read the book... But if you are a fan of Litrpg, video games or especially MMO type games, do yourself a favor and pick this one up, it is well worth your time. Really looking forward to the next installment.

Good writing, good pacing, great action, and best of all, none of the warped attitude toward female characters prevalent in the genre.

The party's interactions come across as genuine, the kind of good natured trash talk you would expect to find in a long-term gaming group. It's unfortunate that those interactions drop off as the cast grows, but the plot pulls the story forward and keeps things interesting regardless.

The lack of romantic focus was quite honestly a balm on my shriveled soul, because this book has far more interesting adventures to offer. In addition, the conflict between the protagonists' basic decency and their enemies' utter lack of empathy hit home, especially these days.

It was an honest pleasure to read this, and I will definitely look for more from this author.

A interesting story all the way through, good plot, good cast of characters and the bad guys makes it really well written. I was a bit hesitant to buy because of the price but I'm glad I got it. But It's a really long book so it took me a while to finish which is really good and worth the price. I really look forward to the continuation of the story because it looks like things aren't over with the bad guys

Have ready perhaps a dozen of the LitRPG genre and I think this is one of the best ones I've read yet. World is pretty amazing and the game system has seemed pretty well thought out. Characters are developing at a believable rate and character interactions are very well done. Has multiple story arcs at the player level, in-game npc politics, in-game god level interactions. I think the book could have been broken into two separate levels, but they probably wouldn't have been as good as individually.
Am most definitely looking forward to the next book.
