Tom Rob Smith is our favorite author . Right from the start you are drawn into the story. There is a twist that you never see coming.
Very different from his trilogy , hope we don't have have to wait to long for his next book.

Great psychological plot. Atmospheric and intriguing. I liked the way he built up suspense but kept it real. The issue relates to a damaged person and how they interpret their world. The flaws in their view make this novel what it is. The ending pales a little but it is good work and well worth a read.

Very disappointing after the trilogy. None of the characters held any attraction or interest for me. Plot somewhat interesting and the book was easy to read. I think I finished it only because his others were so good.

Great idea. But after the initial premise is established - the book becomes very "one note" for chapters and chapters. I don't want to share spoilers, but I really liked the world and the characters, but I just felt like the story could have been told in a much more compelling way.

The final part of the book makes the reading worthwhile. The mother's story is too much, it leads to the actual conclusion. The final events are not predictable, but the fact that there is something more there, is too obvious throughout.

Really good read. Love the intrigue, set beautifully in the cold, starkness of Sweden's countryside. The location descriptions added depth to the deep dive into the dark past of the mother, as she wove her present into a tapestry that revealed her sad past.

this was a great read. Very different from the other Tom Rob Smith novels I have read. Full of suspense, mind games and a bit creepy. Touches on some disturbing material as in some of his other books but protects us from becoming too emotionally involved. Begins with a Londoner being told by his father (who lives in Sweden) that his mother has been placed in a mental institution followed by a call from his mother who claims everyone is ganging up on her and have placed her in the mental institution to cover their tracks...creepy
