The ladies from Botswana always bring us joy and thought provoking situations. We welcome them as old friends, tried and true, and just a bit predictable. But no outcome is certain, and human motivation is often complex, and not what it seems. Is forgiveness just a great biblical theory, or does it really apply to us?

Always a joy to get another No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency book. I wish the author would concentrate his writing more on this series, and that we would learn more about Precious's relationships with her husband, and foster children.

I have read every single book in this series. Not a lot happens in these stories, but there is a mood of contentment and human goodness in every one. Reading about Precious is like meditating. I guess my only complaint is the books are too small. I want more.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective series is like going on vacation once a year for me. It is like going to a place where people have integrity and care for one another. I have read them all and look forward to the next addition to this series.

Katherine Hepburn wrote once that if one is ever to visit the continent f Africa that Africa will stay in your heart. I visited West Africa many years ago. When I read Alexander McCall Smith's Series of No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, I am drawn in again to that culture and it sings in my heart! This edition is even more so.

As usual Alexander Mc Call Smith did not disappoint. This book is just as wonderful as the very first in this series. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. If you have not read this series, please purchase the entire series you will fall in love with each character.

While keeping one amused by the often fallible personalities not unlike ourselves, the author is able to give us deeper food for thought that encourages all to be better. As usual, a delightful read. I wouldn't miss one of these little books for the world!

The books in the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series are so heartfelt and wise. That, along with humor make them my favorite series of all . I urge the reader to try them out if you are looking for a peaceful way to send time reading.

I was in the mood for some lighthearted writing and I do so love Alexander McCall Smith for that very reason. It's not the most interesting story I have ever read, but it was a fun read and put me in a mellow zone.

A new entry in the series tracks several problems for our heroine to solve. This time the author indulges his readers with a little more description of Botswana food! Some ethical choices everyone faces to a greater or less degree are dealt with.

Another fine human interest story that is rich in characterization. I can hardly wait for his next installment.
Took one star back because my Kindle app misbehaved and kept restarting at the same page, instead of the page where I left off. Frustrating.

I read everything Alexander McCall Smith writes with the greatest enjoyment. His characters are well delineated and his stories are so down to earth and real. I especially love his #1 Ladies' Detective Agency tales.

A little less engaging than previous books with a weak plot and only familiar atmospherics. A better way to pass the time than watching television but.hardly worth the cost. I should have waited on the library's list for access.

As always, Alexander McCall Smith delivers page after page of entertainment and great story lines. The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency never disappoints. I have read all 17 editions and am looking forward to #18.

Another delightful episode in the on-going saga of a detective agency in Botswana. Some might call this area undeveloped but it is clear that we can all learn a lot from these women who are astute observers and prescient in their right-living solutions.

Another good story from Alexander McCall Smith and the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. For anyone who hasn't discovered these pleasant books and characters, start at the beginning and read them all. You'll wish you could be Mma Ramotswe's friend and share a cup of red bush tea with her. I look forward to the next book in the series!

This book is similar to the others in this series. The characters are further defined as the story develops. All your favorite characters are there with some surprising developments. Read and enjoy!

Having only recently discovered this series, and subsequently embarking on a reading marathon, I find myself now at a loss. The last of the series and I am at the mercy of the author's muse. I hope there is another story in the making and that I will once again find myself in the presence of dear friends!

Wonderfully warm and heartfelt as ever with this series. You can "see" the story unfold through your mind's eye. Simply yet beautifully written. Just love Ma Ramotswe and all the other regular characters with their unique personal qualities. Great, easy, satisfying read.

Another McCall Smith book that is so soothing in this time of turmoil in the US. I enjoy the slow, experience every moment , feeling the book gives me. I have visited Botswana a couple of times, but only on safari. This gives me a taste of the real place and the real people.

I enjoyed reading the developing story about the relationship between the two main characters, and was left wondering where things will go next. The other plots about the cases and events were interesting, too.
