The great description of characters, emotions, places and situations, made me believe I was in Scotland among friends. I could feel the happiness of Bertie, the wisdom of angus, annoyance at the narcissism of that deplorable Bruce! What I could not do was stop reading.

I love anything by Alexander McCall Smith. In today's stressful world filled by daily horror stories on the news, it is so wonderful to be able to escape into the gentle world he creates in each story.

I love all the 44 Scotland Street series. This one did not disappoint. The poem at the end was beautiful, one of the best. It is always so sad when you get to the poem because you know this book is finished. Can't wait for the next book.

The Revolving Door of Life was the most enjoyable ,insightful and humorous of the 44 Scotland series, if not of all Alexander McCall Smith's
novels that I have read. I laughed a lot and I learned much about human nature plus many interesting facts about Edinburgh and Scotland .

Alexander McCall Smith's are always engrossing and can evoke smiles and tears when you least expect them. This is another wonderful look into the lives of the residents of Scotland Street. It can stand alone but is best enjoyed if you start with the first of the series.

As always Alexander McCall Smith writes a book can not put down and I anxiously await his next book! The writing is light. His moral compass directs our thoughts in the direction to do the right thing!
