Love any book by Alexander McCall Smith; especially this series, "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency". I fell in love with Mme Ramotswe's sensibility and intuitive nature. She knows the nature and psychology of people. Her charcter is so warm and wise, I wish she were a real person so I could bring her home. It blows my mind that a man wrote this series about this dynamic woman. Very wise man indeed.

As always Alexander McCall Smith weaves a vivid word picture and interesting plot for our favorite lady detective without foul language, racy sexual imagery and axe-in-the-face violence. Lisette Lacat's reading breathes life into each character. One can visualize the Kalahari and Botswana as if one had been there.
And to finally meet Clovis Anderson, well, that was the bomb, so to speak!
As always, I greatly enjoyed this book.

It's best--but not mandatory--that you read these books in order, because they do build on what has gone before. Mr. Smith has led an interesting life in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Botswana, & Scotland, & obviously loves Botswana (for good reason!)!

Mma Ramotyswe and Mma Makutsi did not let me down. I have listened to all of Alexander McCall Smith's books read by Lisette Lecast, and I fall in love with the characters each time. The characters are developed beautifully, and the reader brings them to live for me.

This series of books doesn't falter in quality! The story, the writing, the sweet, relaxing and mirthful read is as wonderful as the other No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books. My 95-year old grandmother and I started at the beginning a few years ago and look forward to each new book!

Having read most of the books in this series, the characters are familiar and consistent. The stories are a quick read and hold my interest. Stories often deal with issues that could happen to most anyone. Almost like sitting down with an old friend.

Once again the author gives us an enjoyable work covering the ladies of the Number One Detective Agency. With laughter and much philosophy woven into these books, they are a favorite choice - would never consider missing one of this series! Just keep them up, Alexander!

This series continues to be enjoyable. Even though the story is in an African nation, the situations people get into are similar to ones I have seen. The common sense in dealing with the problems are interesting and fun to read about. The main characters are good decent ordinary people which is nice for a change.

These books are always a cute good read. Great for airline trips as it keeps you entertained most of the flight. Have read al but the latest of theses books. Have loaned them out only to find something is missing until I get them all back.

Like all the books in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, I truly enjoyed this. The reader is able to see life through a variety of viewpoints, and the book is brought to a satisfying conclusion. Am really anticipating the next book!

This series accurately depicts the true African heart. The ambling plot is well paced and is not tedious at all. It moves as life itself moves. Or how we wish it would move at times. The intellect is obvious without being intrusive. I enjoy the "side bars" that reflect the way our minds work. It is, as always, a pleasurable journey through lives not unlike our own in the US, Ghana, where my wife is from,or anywhere else. It is well worth the ride.

I found this book to be as thoroughly entertaining as previous books in this series. Of course, there is a dilemma to be resolved and it is in the typical efficient fashion of Mme Romatswa-a joy to read!

This one filled in the holes that others complained about in the last book. Not every story is going to cover every person that is encountered in all the other books. This one has so many upsets that draw you in - hoping to see resolved, it certainly made up for the quietness of the last one. I still enjoyed every one of them. Some are predictable but it's okay. I love that about the series too. Mr.McCall Smith, I wonder if these characters are real people you encountered in your years in Botswana...or a composite. They are just...so real! I would like to shake Mma Makutsi - she is just so stubbornly set in her ways - and congratulate Mma Romatswe for her charitable handlling of every crisis, including Mma Makutsi. The real theme behind this one is superb! Keep up the good work, Mr. McCall Smith.

My grandmother reads this series an loves it. I bought this and one other book in the series for her for xmas. I was excited that the original delivery date listed was while she was in town visiting me. The book DID NOT ARRIVE ON TIME!!! I ended up having to shop it to her home. I could have just saved myself postage and had it sent directly to her had i known the seller was going to be delayed in sending to me. Some communication would have been nice.

As usual, I am entranced with Alexander McCall Smith's writings in this lovely series of Precious Ramotse's detective agency. I can see all the characters, the office, her too-industrious secretary, and finally, have met her mentor, the author of the detective manual she uses as her guide. I have learned so much from this series: the formality and sensitivity of the Botswana people, the careful way of their conversations. More, please.

I am a big fan of Alexander McCall Smith. Especially the detective series. I didn't want the books to end. I wish it could be a real situation but our world is changing way too fast. I love going with Precious and Grace to a simpler way of life when all that was required was good common sense. I look forward to another novel by the author

Never disappointed in The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency or Alexander McCall Smith. Always true to the characters we have come to love and a place we all want to visit, he delivers once again. I look forward to the next installment.

Another winner by Alexander McCall Smith about PRecious. I just love her and her co-detective in solving problems. The two stories were good except there wasn't quite enough about Precious's children. I like to hear about them also. My only hope is that McCall Smith writes at least one a year.

I've read the entire series of these endearing books. Love them all! Good to see the author back on track with Precious Ramotswe, I didn't enjoy his other books as much. Having lived in Africa for several years I can appreciate the characters - he just nails them perfectly. No smut, no sadness, just a good story well told that brings a smile to your dial. What a pleasure to read!

Alexander McCall Smith has a beautific way of writing. His characters are so alive and I found myself giggling out loud at some conversations between Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi. A truly memorable book. Next please.

This series never disappoints. This story was particularly full of action, although it is the slowly developing sort of action that comes day by day in life. Charming characters and wonderful insights into the meaning of life.

Nice to visit my old friends again. These books are always a pleasure. This particular one is not my favorite among the series, but still an expressive, valuable addition to the journey. Very glad I read it.

The latest novel has all the tried and true elements we love in the series, with heaping doses of heart and wisdom and good old-fashioned twists. A terrific read - and probably just as entertaining for the uninitiated.
