Interesting but would have enjoyed more personal information. His thoughts on politics and human nature were very new to me and I found them stimulating. Comparing the century old opinions on life, work and interactions with other countries was enjoyable.

Hard to believe that TR was an early Republican. Perhaps some of today's current candidates should consider his autobiography as required reading, and take a little--OK, a LOT--of advice. I suspect TR is developing some pretty high RPMs in his grave in disgust at the current crop of candidates from the GOP.

Roosevelt's opinion of himself is somewhat self-serving on occasion; nonetheless I found him to be remarkably candid about those areas where he really hadn't performed especially well. You'll find some seriously "out-dated" attitudes as well, but of course those were much different times, and quite frankly TR was pretty progressive for those times.

Excellent book. It gave historic accounts of many of the important happenings of that era. Went into detail and gave credit and criticism to many individuals who were involved in history making events which were important in forming our then young country.

An interesting read about a time period that is often overlooked. However, this book reads more like a memoir than an autobiography. Some of it was more difficult for me to get through than others. Overall a quality read.

Great history details of Teddy's administration and the issues of the day. Not much different than now. While the vernacular from 100 years ago was different than today (might recommend having a dictionary to hand while reading), an interesting read.

Interesting history. In an era or rapid growth, both in government and industry, we had a leader who played hardball and steered the US into a new century on paths of equity to all. Or did he? An interesting read written by an interesting man who seems to stand out as morally and ethically fit compared to the administration of today's US.

Roosevelt's autobiography offers a good insight not only into Roosevelt himself but into his era at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth, but before the cataclysm of WW I.

Here is a Republican that one can respect even if you cannot agree with his pugnacious style or animal hunting. He is so truly decent and fair-minded. How fortunate he was in his family, both mother and father set high standards for personal behavior; no small wonder that he never forgot the lessons, but was quick to make allowance for those who did err. One should also read Candace Millard's River of Doubt to understand what a magnificent human being he was.

One of the most interesting figures in American history, with so little fanfare. An Autobiography gives so much credit to so many others as to make Teddy supporting cast. Having read this in conjunction with David McCullough's Mornings on Horseback, and The Imperial Cruise by Bradley, I found Mr Roosevelt to be a multifaceted, multi talented figure. Though not always in agreement with his political philosophies, one can yet appreciate his true heart; not a party man, but a president honestly caring for the good of the people. Now an admirer of the man who "spoke softly, but carried a big stick".

Politically excellent, but I would have enjoyed more personal details and fewer descriptive words. I'm glad I read it, however! Teddy Roosevelt surely deserves to be on Mount Rushmore - he was the right man for the time in which he lived!

I learned some interesting facts but found it too in depth and a bit boring for me. I thought it would have more of his personal life. It would be a good read for someone more into the politics of his life.

A man of real substance, unlike the so-called leaders of today. Tells me what we're really missing with our current political leadership. There's not a current Republican or Democrat that could hold a candle to him. Definitely a person larger than life. His version of the facts is very enlightening, but a little too lengthy and detailed. I would have liked him to follow a timeline, rather jump around so much.
