There are a million tricks out there on the Internet. If you took a look at the number of authors and motivational speakers, and what their message was, you'd find that most of them are based more on their style of dogmatism. In this book, Mel didn't just come up with this rule out of the blue: she did research with different facilities to find out how it works. In this book, she does start with the easy basics of the 5-second rule, which is before major decisions, take a breath and count down from 5 to 1. This will help hold your brain from trying to initiate the protective side that often keeps you held down instead of helping you rise.
Sometimes you have to just push, and blast off like a rocket before your emotions kick in and stop you.
One thing. There's a lot of testimonies listed here. This might seem discouraging, but they are authentic. Also, the last thing. I say it in Japanese. :D

Can I give BONUS stars??This deserves more than 5 stars! Mel is funny, insightful and REAL! This is a powerful book to help anyone get "unstuck" and break free from fear and inertia. I've already benefited from her advice. It was like listening to a friend! 5, 4, 3, 2,1, GO! Get this book and change your life!

I truly enjoyed this book because of Mel's conversational writing style and how the book is infused with real life examples and stories from people that have used the 5 second rule. I am grateful for this read too because this simple tool has already helped me "push through" to do things that perhaps in times past, I wouldn't have had the courage to do. Pick the book up, read it and then 5-4-3-2-1 GO!!!

If your looking for an easy application to change your life, this it it! But due note, it does require you taking action steps to co-create the changes. Once you get on a roll with taking action steps to shift, the process becomes easier. Do share Mel’s work with others!

Great book. Very well said. Inspirational, loaded with testimonials, and covers all aspects for using the 5 second rule and to get over being stuck and take action. I highly recommend this book. The 5 second rule is a game changer and help catapult anyone to take actions for their life and their dream. Thanks Mel, now it's time for me to take myself to the next level. 5-4-3-2-1 GO!

Book helps with implementing the rule. Also provides great life enhancing tips. A bit too much space is used for examples where the 5 second rule was used. Some space should be used discussing when the 5 second rule is not appropriate.

The examples are executed very poorly--some are tiny, some are blurry. The amount of examples provided should be pared down. Overall, although I somewhat liked the book, I couldn't finish it after reading almost 75% because what I read already should have been 1/3 as much. Perhaps this book is for someone with much less common sense.

Love Mel Robbins! She’s so authentic with tremendous insight. My favorite is this book on audible - having Mel read this book is just incredibly inspiring. If you want to improve your life buy/listen to Mel Robbin’s books, courses, journal, etc. is awesome!

This book could be helpful for some people I guess. I don't feel the content was helpful. For me it felt like a very small piece of the book taught you the five second rule and the rest of the book was just examples of people who have used it.

This really works! I started using the 5 second rule immediately and it works for me. I’m a huge procrastinator, and waste so much time. I have read countless books to try to overcome procrastination, but none helped immediately like this one.

This ultra-simple concept could be a complete life-changer for anyone who struggles to get stuff done. Whatever the cause of the struggles... overwhelm, finishing things, weight loss, exercise... whatever it is, this COULD be an answer for you.

Not very complicated. The concept could be shown in a single chapter. In fact, I watched Ms. Robbin's very compelling video on YouTube before I bought the book, and that COULD have been enough for me. But the book told the story behind the concept and solidified its value in my mind.

I am sure that someone who is simply picking-them-up-and-laying-them-down will not get value from this book. That's because they are not struggling with... this. (BTW, the reference is about a base runner in baseball going from one base to another: picking up his FEET.)

I watched her TEDx talk and then found another video on Youtube and enjoyed them so I bought the book. Straight forward and to the point. As I listen to this audio book I keep telling myself, "Yep, she is right, that's what I do" . I have already begun using her 5-4-3-2-1 strategy and can see how effective it can be.
