Started this series with kindle unlimited. Enjoyed it so much after reading all the current books I bought the series because I know I’ll re-read them as new books come out. Definitely recommend this author.

Finally! Some answers! No, I’m not saying a word. The series has become a true opera and i love every word! I read the books as soon as the go to print, and then repeatedly listen to the audio books. Up to this I hadn’t “read” full book in 20 years! Well done!

I really like these books! They are easy to read, good entertainment, and the shiny beer can is quite funny. If you liked the books before this one you will not be disappointed. If you haven't read/heard the ones before this one find "coloumbus day" and enjoy!

Great next one in the series!
These books have been a great escape from my daily routine. I rarely ever re read a book, these have me coming back to them on a regular basis. Can't wait for the next one!

A great combo of science, fiction, humor, and military values. The client state forces in military campaigns are well thought out. So there is plenty of space stuff to keep you interested.
But the over the top Skippy interactions are fantastic. Here the human hero tops the supercomputer by thinking out of the box...or beer can!

Just another great installment. Some long sci-fi series get tedious but Maverick is just as fresh as Craig’s earlier installments. Joe Bishop is a great protagonist..... heroic, but fun and also a guy to have a beer with. Skippy, the all powerful AI ... a little different but it works and it’s Craig’s trademark. I like it and you will too.

Craig has really created a foundation to build from. I had to read the book at night on my iPhone Kindle app as well as on my Kindle during the day. I’m glad to be done after three days of suspense, and happy that book 7 comes out in November, which is also the month of my birthday! So many unanswered questions!

The loss I feel after finishing the latest book of the series is agonizing. I can't wait to be taken on another adventure with Skippy and the crew. I find myself regretting that I read the books so quickly. I purposely slowed down for the "Mavericks", but alas November will come at a snails pace.

With this latest installment, the author has firmly pulled the earlier tangential book, Paradise, back into the main story. Here we see both casts working the same problem from their own angles. It's a good build on the previous books and sets up for some interesting things to come.

I spent the last couple of months reading the ExForce series and I must say you are a creative genius. Every extra minute I had was spent glued to your stories. I look forward to the new release in November.

I think this story was the best one yet. Totally enjoyed the Mavericks (maybe I needed a break from Skippy - don't let him find out I said that). I liked the different way the story evolved. Looking forward to the next chapter and their return to earth.

Ok! You better get writing, cause currently I am reading them a loooot faster than you are writing them. And I don't want to contact a certain person and have a serious conversation about garages!!! I started reading SF around 1954 and never lost my interest in stories that make me think!!! Enough said!! EJ

Like the previous novels in the series, the best parts of this book are the dialogue between Joe and Skippy. I love the problem solving nature of this book. I have not read anything similar, and I can't wait for the next book to come out!

This booked continues the great series. Skippy continues to be his Magnificent self, helping Joe and the Merry Band of Pirates. I enjoyed the character development both on board ship and on Paradise. Can't wait for the next book!

This is one of my favorite series. Alanson keeps the ideas fresh and holds the mystery and solution through the book. I enjoyed that a large part of this book was about characters from Paradise. They are great characters and I look forward to reading more about them.

I have been listening to the books and decided to try reading this latest installment and I really enjoyed it. I’m not sure I’ll read the next one but it was very enjoyable and the story was fantastic

Although this book didn’t have as many twists and turns, it was an enjoyable continuation of the series. I was waiting for a hook at the end of the book, but it didn’t really materialize. Craig, how come no continuation of the story about the Maxholx at the end of the last book? C’mon! I hope the next book has more meat behind it and raises the bar.

Being a huge sci-fi fan since reading Heinlins' Number Of The Beast. (when i was probably much too young to have read it) This series is one of the most addictive and I have been completely in to this series since seeing Columbus Day on the store's prime reading list about a year ago. Sitting in a waiting room I started reading, and have been drawn in by the characters and story ever since. Bringing Skippy and the Merry band of pirates story and the remainder of the ex-force on Paradise story forward with the fun and exciting ways that I've come to expect from the writing of Mr. Alanson.

Craig Alanson has created a wonderfully funny and action packed universe. Mavericks was no exception. It contains all of the characters we've known and loved through the series, and put them in yet another series of situations and problems that need to be solved. I don't think I'll ever get bored with the story line, and I read and enjoy each book as soon as it comes out.
I'ts a great addition to the series, and I highly recommend checking it out.

This is an awesome addition to my favorite all time series. Better yet, injecting and augmenting a secondary storyline focusing on the folks on Paradise really helped this series move forward in a different direction so that it isn’t just the same old skippy + monkey adventure all the time. I love the character development and where things can go from here... feels like a great setup for an eventual meet up between the Mavericks and the Merry Band of Pirates in the next book or two? Can’t wait!

Another great entry, and set up the next round of conflicts in a way I didn't anticipate but that makes perfect sense in hindsight. It also gave new importance to the otherwise kinda meh subplot of the humans on Paradise, who before this suffered from the problem of being much less interesting than anything the Merry Band of Pirates were doing. Eagerly looking forward to the next book.

Another wonderful read from Craig Alanson. Skippy the Magnificent and the gang continue their hi-jinks across the galaxy. Now introducing a new player, the Mavericks, another team of space monkeys are now flitting about wreaking havoc on the galactic order of things. Will the space monkeys prevail, how will the Mavericks play into our adventures. I am excited to find out what happens next.

The tricky thing about writing a review for a book in a series is that it has to be compared to the rest of the series. I mean, if you don't like the series why the hell would you be reading the fifth book?
So with that said, it's pretty comparable in quality to earlier works. Though unlike the first or second book, this one feels a lot more polished. The story is a lot tighter, dialogue feels more natural, characters have more depth, and the plot makes more sense. This book also has the advantage of not having to introduce the setting, instead being able to expand on it.
For the downsides, the whole romantic feelings thing felt a bit forced and detracted a bit. Wasn't terrible, but could've been better either without it, or maybe slowing it down a bit. Also, some favorite characters from the earlier books saw their screen time get cut down a lot, with far less dialogue than in previous outings. Makes sense given the split party sort of plot going on for much of the book, but I still miss those characters.
All in all, if you like the series thus far you'll like Mavericks. It's a more or less what you expect from the series with nothing too radical, except you can tell Craig Alanson is getting more practiced at writing. So if you've made it this far in the series, there's no reason not to continue at this point.

This series reads well and has a catchy premise. Each book has however been an exacting exercise in delayed gratification. Some of the mini-problems were a surprise but a lot of the more obvious "nope, that one is broke too" issues seemed to drag on far too long as there was too little focus on world building and too much focus on inane conversation between Joseph and Skippy.
Still a great book though.

First off the only reason Im still into this series is because of Skippy and the shenanigans they get into. I tried the novella paradise about the side characters but couldn't finish and just read the synopsis so I can be up to date for the main story arc. This book should have been a novella because it barely had the main characters in it. I thought the book was going to be a parallel story arc but I was disappointing with more than 3/4 of the book was dedicated to one dimensional characters. All in all if your just interested in the main story arc just read the synopsis and wait for a dedicated x-force book.
