I purchased this book last week, and I finally started reading it yesterday. I cannot put it down! The author tells the story so vividly you can't help but to feel what the main character is going through. This book is well written and it flows together nicely. If you think this book and or story is too dark for you to read, please reconsider. It's sooo much more than that. I'm gonna stop babbling now and go finish it. Once again, awesome book!

As an English teacher, I decided to preview some of the required reading list for my high school students this year. I am very happy to say that this is an excellent read. I couldn't put it down. It handles very current and realistic social issues in a way that students will relate. Students may be more sensitive to the thoughts and feelings of others and even recognize the warning signs of violence. GREAT BOOK!!!

Don't read this if you are a sensitive, emotional person, because you will probably have a breakdown. It's terrible that this kind of stuff actually happens in the world, but never the less this is a great-but sad book

This book was remarkably devastating but yet amazingly heart warming. Every time I opened to read, i was too into it to stop reading. Hate List by Jennifer Brown was the best book I've read so far in my life. This book will change the way you look at things. It will help you learn to forgive but not forget and to see what's really there. Completely inspirational. It's a MUST read.

This book speaks to me. It was so emotionally attaching and Brown did an amazing job of portraing the characters to really feel the power of what Valerie was going through. I have no complaints. Truly a wonderful book that makes me still think about everything, event hough I finished reading a couple months ago. Great job Jennifer.

This book was amazing. No one has gone through, or probably ever go through what Valerie did. But even I, the average teenage girl could relate to this book. The way the other wrote it, you get attached to Valerie and everything she is going through, I couldn't put this book down. I sincerely loved it.

This a great book! It sends a powerful message about how words can be hurtful and the consequences of bullying. It definitely slowed down at the end though and I had to push myself to finish it, but overall it was a wonderful story.

I bought this book based largely on the overwhelming number of positive reviews. After attempting to read it, I find it difficult to square the glowing reviews with my own experience. I want to be kind, and I am not in the habit of writing negative reviews, but this story is just poorly told. As far as the mechanics of writing are concerned, it is inoffensive. There are no glaring grammatical or spelling errors that jumped out at me. There is just no artistry to it. The dialog is unrealistic. The descriptions are bland. The characters are one dimensional. "It sucks to be me" pretty much sums up the depth of the protagonist's introspective explorations. I stuck it out to page 40 hoping that it was going to improve and it did not. I cannot force myself to go any further.
I do admit the possibility that I am wrong. Maybe I just don't get it. Perhaps my literary expectations are too high. My only advise is before spending eight bucks on this book, at least take the time to download and read the excerpt. You will probably save yourself a little money, and more importantly, the time that you could be spending reading something worthwhile.

This story was exceptional. The Hate List had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I never wanted to put the book down. The author is very good at describing detail so your able to picture what's happening in the story. I would very much recommend the Hate List.

Great book for adults as well as teens. It really puts in a new perspective to similar tragedies. This story felt more like an autobiography of the main character's experiences rather than a fiction novel. Great read.
