A good continuity to the other books. I see people give it a poor rating and wonder what is their objective. The purpose of a good story is to transport you to that realm and give you an adventure. This book does a good job. Some parts are a little slow but they do give more color to the story and unless one is only looking for action, the story is fine. It does arrive to a lot of action and then finally tidy up of the various story lines. So all in all, a good read for those that like the Witcher stories.
I saw one criticism of the book where they felt it was disjointed. If one has a good memory there is no problem. Any author uses that technique to keep all the various players involved. It ends nicely and in an unexpected way. I will not say how but it was good enough that I did not second guess the conclusion regarding Ceri. This book does finish the story of Gerald though, you can look forward to that. Enjoy it, you will if you liked the other stories.

Excellent wrap up to the Witcher saga. I was introduced to these books because of the games. Reading the books made the games much more enjoyable. I loved every minute in these stories and was sad when it came to an end.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the books in the Witcher series.
My only complaint is how the author makes a lot of the content sexual/sensual in some form or fashion.
That being said, this is a very good series.

Last book was already pretty mediocre, but this one was really bad. Neverending list of meaningless names that give nothing to the plot, impossible to follow.. Each big part of the plot is stretched out so long it is exasperating. The only reason I finished it was to know the ending to the series. I was really waiting for the English translation... Oh well. At least the ending was good.

On a side note, really didn't like the author's bizarre notion of female sexuality either. Or forcing rape scenes at random places.

This book was extremely hard to get through. It was all over the place. It went from a solid story line to a novel with a bunch of subplots that had nothing to do with the story he built up to. This novel seemed like it was not needed what so ever to end a great story. Instead we were given 300 pages of filler. I was very disappointed with the way this novel was written and maybe it has something to do with the translation? All in all, skip this one folks, it isn't worth it. Maybe if it was 2 dollars.

The story is excellent and timeless. (This isn't the review for that part)

I bought it for the book. Actually "book" is very poor. Like you took your cheapest printer, ink is getting softer as the print goes, toilet paper quality. Even the cut (sides to make it A5 book) look cheap.

If you want to have this story in a paper format, try somewhere else.

Only nice parts, is the cover picture. Even the title is ugly and commercial, imbued with useless bragging.

I loved the series as a whole, the characters and world are worth the read. That being said, this novel is all over the place and was really hard to understand the first read through. I enjoyed it more the second time yet I still feel ripped off in the final chapters.

The author spends so much time on characters that don't have anything to do with the story, (although Nimue and Condwiramurs story was super interesting to me after reading Season of Storms) making you think he's building towards something that could tie into the characters fates...

****spoilers*****

Instead he abruptly kills off the entire company you've grown to love, with hardly any time spent on thier narrative in the entire novel. All in the same chapter in the SAME battle. They've survived through much higher stakes
yet they somehow can't handle a few hired thugs?? They've got a higher Vampire in the squad but somehow only Garalt, Yen, and Ciri make it out of the castle??? Most of them don't even come across Vilgefortz! It's just plain lazy and doesn't fit the rest of the narrative.

***end spoilers***

It really seemed like the author exhausted himself so much on the side storylines no one cared about, that he couldn't take the time to write anyone else into the final ending. It's such a horrible way to say farewell to characters we've invested our spare time into.

Yen and Geralts ending leaves much to be desired as well, but at least the games turn that around for me.

The games help improve the authors poorly executed final novel to a series that had so much potential. Yet it won't take the sour taste out of my mouth I will always have about the company's abrupt illogical farwell. It just feels wrong to the characters abilities up until that point. I am extremely disappointed all over again after the second read through. Boo!

Where do I start... I went through all these books via audio version. I drive many hours every day and I am a huge fan of the game. I thought I could learn more of the backstory of the Geralt, Ciri, and Yenefer by listening to the books.

The first book I actually read, and it wasn’t riveting. The second was great as well. But after that I found myself looking more and more for moments in each book to keep me hooked. The last book, lady of the lake, was the absolute worse of them.

So much time was spent on characters or narratives that you just could really care that much about - that I started to wonder what state of mind was the writer in, while writing the book. I counted 6 hours at least in this book of listening to characters or narratives that I just could not care about one bit.

I have to be honest and say that it was a struggle to listen to this one. And if I was reading it, I would have put it down long ago. After ready/listening through the Witcher saga, Id have to advise the Witcher fan to just stick to the wiki and learn as much as possible through research. You might be better off and save a bunch of time.

One character, for example, is the scribe Yara, which I could care very little from the beginning. But yet, there was about 6 hours in this book alone about his struggles. Seriously WTF!!?!?!?!??

While an excellent story, well written, great timing; I find myself disenchanted with gory, repetitive battles scenes. My imagination is vivid enough with out the endless blood, gut, and gore. Otherwise I have truly enjoyed this series although reluctant to read the last book lest it be a repeat of the endless battles and gore. Just my opinion...

Playing the Witcher video game series developed by CD Projekt Red prompted me to purchase the Witcher Book Series. I personally lack the focus and imagination to enjoy reading on my own volition. First time I've purchased and read books for leisure. Felt absolutely immersed in the world depicted by Andrzej Sapkowski and replicated a strong sense of escapism that occurred to me when I played the Witcher video games.

This book reaches an ending, of sorts, to the Ciri/Witcher saga, but it was long in the telling. This is a huge book that tells a tale of epic proportions. Expanding the tale to one of this magnitude really strains the storytelling motif that the author uses, as there are many portions of the tale being related by different people, making it take quite a long while to finish it. I really enjoyed the previous books. This one I was simply glad to finish it, having already committed myself to finding out how it all ended.
