A lovely reunion piece, and domestic werewolves who love babies are thrilling beyond measure. Watching this favourite wolf pack settle into a new status quo feels fresh and right, rather than a rehash of the old.

Wonderful finish to a storyline started in the Parasol Protectorate series. Loved it! I will read anything by this author. And the Wicker Chicken - still going strong. Even more stories like this would be great!

Another awesome novella by one of my favorite authors! I love being able to get an insite into some of my fav characters from her other books, but is a great stand alone as well. If you haven’t dipped your toes into one of Miss Carriger books, this is a good place to start.
Blameless (The Parasol Protectorate) :: A steampunk adventure novel (Magnificent Devices Book 1) :: Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate) :: The Last Necromancer (The Ministry Of Curiosities Book 1) :: and a Silver Bustier (Pyper Rayne Book 1)

Such a delightful novela. Really digs into Biffy putting his thoughts together on being Alpha. And being with Lyall. The werewolf cult was a fun twist (I am fascinated and horrified by cults, and I am fascinated and horrified by the idea of one worshipping werewolves)

If you are a fan of the Parasol Protectorate series, you likely understand how much I have been anticipating the reunion of Lyall and Biffy. Romancing the Werewolf did not disappoint. My only wish is that it could have been longer, but that is the nature of novellas.

If you have been eagerly and longingly awaiting the story of Biffy and Professor Randolph Lyall–first introduced in the Parasol Protectorate series–you are going to be pleased with this novella. I haven’t read, yet, the previous book in the Supernatural Society Series, but Biffy’s story is one I have been wanting since I first met him in the Parasol books.
It has been years since I read any of the Parasol Protectorate books, so I must admit that the first couple chapters in this story were…not confusing, because I wasn’t ever lost, but they certainly required a bit of thinking to remember the events being referenced from previous stories by the author. However, if you haven’t read any of Carriger’s other historical books I think you can do a passable job of understanding the background and characters because at its core the story is simple enough that you shouldn’t be terribly lost. You might not get everything, but on the whole you’ll probably be fine.
Despite the fact that it took me a couple of chapters to get back into the swing of things with this story and the setting, I really enjoyed this book. Biffy and Lyall have a very sweet connection, which actually plays very nicely against the craziness going on in the rest of the story. I had a bit of hard time buying the whole “it’s been twenty years and I’m still pining for you” thing they both seem to have, but they are werewolves, so maybe it can be laid at the feet of their more furry nature. Other than that, I found they worked well together. I also think that they benefit from having a lot of their backstory already told in previous books, so this one doesn’t have to focus on what was, but instead who they are now. Granted, if you haven’t read the other books in this world, that might be a detraction.
One of my favorite things though was the various relationships and interactions among the pack members. You might not spend a lot of time with them, but there are some very distinct and memorable secondary characters in this. And the fact that they are this memorable after such short amount of page time is a testament to how well this is written. The various pack members all played their parts well, and were all amusing in their own ways. Even more so when the babies start showing up on their new doorstep with nary a note of explanation.
On the whole baby-mystery thing…it wasn’t the mystery of the century but on the whole it supplied the book with enough entertainment that I didn’t mind. It also helped make this story about more than just the will-they/won’t-they between Biffy and Lyall. And the wrap-up of the baby problem ended on a rather hilarious scene involving a goard, so I can forgive a whole host of sins for that.
Overall I think this might be a better book for those of us who have some investment in the couple previously, but it can probably give enough enjoyment to a new-comer to make it worth your while. It was funny and sweet, with just a dash of the odd that makes Carriger’s books so worth reading.

This latest novella sees the return of Professor Randolph Lyall to the Pack, now led by Biffy as Alpha. But will the previous romance the pair shared (before Lyall was shipped off to Egypt) be rekindled? And who keeps leaving human babies on the Pack's doorstep?
I love the Parasolverse books by Gail Carriger, and these novellas are a great component. Whilst the romances may not be for everyone - they are homosexual, but there aren't very explicit scenes, and you can skip past any bits that make you uncomfortable - the rest of the books are definitely worth reading as they're funny, interesting, and keep you updated on Pack business while you wait for the next full book to be released. So any Parasolverse lovers should definitely give these novellas a read - they're full of fun, and worth every penny. Can't wait for the next book!
While I read the ebook of this story previously, listening to the audiobook was an excellent experience. Peter Newman is a fabulous narrator, bringing the story to life and really differentiating between characters. Whilst it's not suitable for everyone due to same sex relationships, I'd definitely recommend it to any fans of the Parasolverse who can accept that in a story, especially as it's so nice to see Biffy get settled as Alpha and Prof. Lyle potentially find love.

I think I literally screamed when I realized this book existed. I read The Parasol Protectorate back in 2012 and Lyall and Biffy were two of my favourite characters, and when they developed a romantic relationship I was delighted. Then Timeless happened and I cried for them - I knew they would theoretically get a happy ending, but to not have that on page made me sad.
And now I could finally read them getting back together in their very own book!
I do love this book - but it did not meet my expectations.
For a book called Romancing the Werewolf there is very little romance. Sure, they pine for each other and navigate through their new positions and expectations and feelings, but all that is very secondary to the plot of the novella. I was a little bit disappointed - I would have like for their feelings to be the main focus.
That said, I absolutely adored the plot. I won't say much about it as to not spoil the novella, but I enjoyed the thematic as well as meeting the entire London pack as individual characters. I also liked reading about Biffy struggling with being Alpha and the dynamic he has with his pack

Just finished Ms Carriger's newest novella. It was as delightful as the first one in this series. It takes place in London, just before Christmas, over the course a few days. While it can be read on it's own, reading it after you've read the original series might clarify who is who and how they met. This is a tender, sweet story about two werewolves that are strong/confident on the outside, yet more than a little uncertain on the inside. They care too much about each other to want to hamper or impose on the other. I enjoyed how they related to each other and those around them. Ms Carriger brought realism and believability to a supernatural story. Another one well done. =) By the way, loved the discussion of decorating for Christmas. What a hoot =)

The beginning confused me a bit but once the story really started off I was all in. And I already liked Lyall and Biffy but now I love them. Their love story was so fine, so pure, so precious and heartwarming, I felt with them so deeply. And the side-by-side storyline (I wouldn't call one or the other background, they were perfectly entwined) was captivating and part hilarious part exciting, I loved especially the widow and the plum curtains and just couldn't put the book down even though I was in a reading hole before. But I couldn't stop myself from reading this story and I loved every page of it and can't get enough of the beautiful cover!

A beautiful love story of two who have waited a long time to be together. Each has changed some, but Biffy has made the most progress since becoming a werewolf shortly before they were forced to part, though he still feels inadequate as Alpha of the London pack. There are problems to overcome, but Biffy and the Professor are certainly up to the task!
Peter Newman gave a fine audio performance.
