I was disappointed because I realized at the end of the book that it is just the first part of the story and more would have to be purchased to complete the story. I will never know how it ends. The writing wasn't good enough to spend the money on the rest of the story.

I almost quit reading " Becoming Human ". I just could not get into it. Glad I didn't because book became more interesting and made more sense the more I read. Recommend this book to readers who enjoy sci-fi stories. This is way different than most.

Set in a not too unlikely future where humans have used up Earth's resources and need to find a new planet to call home. Great story and the details on the technology are incredible. As an Isaac Asimov fan and scientist I am pretty critical on this point so I can hardly believe this is the author's first book. Well done! I particularly liked the anti-aging technology. Too bad the "Glamour Package" is fiction - I want one! I don't usually like stories about alien races (the Indigenes) because I find it hard to relate to them, but it is impossible to be unmoved by what happens to the Indigenes and their children in the opening pages. In the end I think Anton (an Indigene) was my favourite character. I read some of the other reviews but I didn't find the larger cast of characters detracted from the story at all, and enjoyed the way their stories were woven together by the end. The mystery about the Indigenes kept me hooked but I was a little worried that as a series it would end on a cliffhanger (I hate those). Thankfully it wasn't! The ending felt satisfying, but I still need to find out what happens next. Can't wait to read the next book in the trilogy!

This book fascinated me. From earth to the planet picked to house humans who were gradually dying out on a polluted planet Earth, I found surprises and tricky plot twists. This is an amazing book.

Characters with some depth so you actually care about them. A couple mysteries or 'unknowns'. A couple "I wasn't expecting that" twists. I've read books 1 and 2, and I will certainly buy #3 when it comes out.
A good start for a new author. Well done, Eliza.

This thought provoking story is set in a future time when earth has become almost unlivable and humans look to other planets to live. This first story in a trilogy set is exciting, disturbing, and surprising. I was not disappointed in Eliza Green's writing!

Eliza all your publishing trials and tribulations were completely worth it! Your accomplishment here has encouraged me to write my first review! I love it when I stumble across a cover or a synopsis after 20 pages of choices, not having anything seem worthy. Can't recall the exact reason I picked BH, but I can say you have a fan for life! Thank you for creating two vivid worlds and for the simple complexity of their inhabitants. Very much looking forward to the second and third acts.

The book has an interesting story. However I thought that the author devoted too much time in exploring each character's past and identity. This could have been done as the story unfolded. But nonetheless I will still get the next books in the series.
Worth a read in my opinion.

This was an excellent read but slow to begin with. I realize that each chapter was dedicated to introduce a character but it was confusing in the beginning. I would like to read the next one in this series.

Excellent story. It has the appeal within this genre of being a plausible future path without getting too technocentric. This is the first of 3 novels that totally pulled me in. A little more character development would have secured a fifth star. Awesome e-book.

Intetesting premise and surprising revelations make this an enjoyable read. The story-telling from multiple points of view is sometimes disorienting and tbe characters often have a greay deal of actiom witb very little de velopment making them feel a bit shallow...almost like a digest of a longer novel! Tur story line is engaging and I am intrigued enough to purchase the next volume.

After the initial, "how many characters and scenarios are there in this story?", I settled in and enjoyed putting all the pieces together. The storyline came together; the characters now make sense. I enjoyed the twists and turns.

Great storytelling. I felt like the pace had a good flow as the characters developed. There's enough intrigue to keep you guessing and the ending has me piqued to read the next book in the series. Kudos to the author.

Overall, this was a pretty good story. There were some little quirky parts of it that just didn't seem right. I bookmarked them as I was reading it but am too lazy to dig them out now. I may amend this later.

I loved this book and quickly became engrossed in it. I'm a confirmed hard sci-fan who likes the morality of humans and dystopian societies explored. Genetic engineering, right or wrong, is interesting, as well. The govt.'s payback might be h***. This book was an incredible debut. I look forward to the trilogy's second novel.

No spoilers here. I was a little thrown off during the character development as the story jumped around to different main characters and locations, but it came nicely together and I enjoyed the suspense and mystery of it all. It's hard to resist a good conspiracy. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

This book was entertaining and thought provoking. It could have been editted a little more to punch up some dialouge and cut out some parts that dragged, but definitely a good read overall. I am about to start reading the sequel. It has elements of such classic syfy as Asimov and reminds me of Kurt vonnegut early novels in so far as asking questions about the impact of technology including genetic engineering. However, it also has climate change themes. Very well thought out. I recommend and will look for the third book.

The book starts slowly, but picks up about halfway through. I almost dropped it, but I'm glad I didn't. It ends rather abruptly, but, that is to get you to buy the sequel)s), which I most likely will.

After the main characters are sorted out and there is some general idea of how they fit together, this was interesting; however, just as you get used to the ideas, the book ends. Probably will read the next one....
