After watching the special features on Kick-Ass, I knew I wanted to read the comic, that went from comic to screen play so fast, as in before the comic was complete (3/8 of the way). As dark as the movie is... the comic is darker.

I am a fan of both the movie and the book, They were different. And it was interesting to see what they changed from the comic. (red mist is just one example)

I will start by saying Wanted is my favorite comic of all time and so when I saw the movie I was beyond disappointed. So what made me want to read Kick-Ass was after I saw the trailer for the movie which looked amazing, I new the comic had to be even better. All I can really say is that this is up there in my top books I've read and Kick-Ass is definitely worth the purchase especially if you liked the movie. Both are very true to one another, but have enough differences that it is worth reading the book and watching the movie. Mark Millar is awesome.

...I purchased this after seeing the movie. I liked the movie (not enough to purchase when it becomes available) and was intrigued by the story. Though the movie doesn't stray too far from the source, I found the book to be much more satisfying and emotionally touching. Highly recommended...

This is the sequel we were looking for. Kick-Ass 2 was terrible (as was the film). Millar has completely redeemed himself. While I can't say it's as good as the original, if you were a fan of that book, you'll be cheering by the end of this one. Here's hoping they get a chance to make another film despite the very poor reception to Kick Ass 2.

If you like the Kick-Ass comic series, or graphic novel, you will love this. This story focuses on, of course, Hit-Girl. You get to follow her through the trials, and tribulations, of being a young girl, while trying to pursue her destiny, as a vigilante. Very entertaining.

First thing I noticed right out of the wrapper was the quality of the product. The matt black jacket with glossy graphics was a nice touch and the art work was well done. The violence is much more graphic than the movie and hit girl looked more like a midget than a teenager, but I actually very much liked the book and went on to read the Hit Girl books, also.

I read this after seeing the movie, which is always risky. I loved the movie, and although the comic has it's strong points, I was disappointed. Not so much because of the difference in events ("what happens"), but rather because:

a) The characters in the comic are much less likable (all of them - and I don't need to "identify" with them, but at least care.)
b) The script, although full of great ideas, seemed to be a first draft (i.e. it feels a lot like it is just being made up as we go along - which results in important events not being properly "set up").
c) The pacing. Now, pacing in a comic book is a lot different from a movie (see "Watchmen", for an example). Certain things work better in one medium than the other. Part of the reason I liked the movie was the way it was all so neatly interconnected, and how one event led into another. The comic, in comparison, feels disjointed (and suffers a bit from "telling rather than showing").

So basically: The comic started it all, obviously, and the ideas are (almost) all there, but the movie does a better job of telling the story.

The art is amazing, however. And even though I prefer the movie, I still enjoyed the comic - just not as much as I had expected or hoped...

Can anyone explain to me what has happened to Mark Millar over the past few years? I used to feel like a kid on Christmas morning whenever I got my hands on a new Mark Millar comic. Now I read things like "Kick-Ass 2" with weary resignation hoping in vain for flashes of the old Mark Millar.

I really liked the original storyline of Kick-Ass. The movie is very similar, but some really interesting details are different which is more reason why you should buy this trade and read it if you never have and you enjoyed the movie.

Readers of the first book will definitely enjoy the sequel. Solid writing and amazing images keep this story going. I can't wait to see where the go with the story. Once I started reading it, I was not able to put it down.

This book met every expectation the previous ones had built up Hit Girl is one of the best characters I have seen in my life and makes Batman look like a care bear. Its dark, violent and a hell of a good time!!
