Excellent world has been developed, great characters and read in one sitting. Love mya and drav characters, perfect amount of tension and I love that the characters don't just fall in love blah blah; its way more than that. Can't wait for the next one.

I am a huge supernatural, paranormal, sci-fi, fantasy reader and as such I have read so many “similar” and same ol' plot lines. You will NOT find that in this book. THIS storyline is unique and is very well written with awesome character development. It grabbed me from the very beginning and didn’t let go until the last page. It has great flow and everything a book should have. Our main characters, Mya and Drav have great chemistry and will leave you wanting more of their story. I couldn’t put this book down and read it through the night. Had a huge book hangover the next day! So, yeah, I can’t wait to read the next book!

The whole plot was so completely interesting and i found that i loved the dystopian style of writing. It was entertaining, to read and suspenseful. These authors know their stuff really well and the writing is descriptive so that you can really picture the setting amd scenes they write about. Did i mention i really want a Drav?

Wow. This book. This story. This world pulled me in straight away. It starts quite innocently with tremors in another country and college girl being interested in them. Nothing unusual right? Until the tremors start to happen in US too. And after the tremors weird big dogs start to appear.

By chapter three I had goosebumps. It was getting that good already.

Mya is a normal college student, fighting her way through finals and missing her family. I loved her relationship with her brother. From the beginning you can tell they are close. #Freaksbyblood

I also really liked her way of thinking. She wanted to panic but was pushing it down, but at the same time wasn't a badass heroine that suddenly knew how to shoot and kill. She was more real.

Ms Haag created a masterpiece of an apocalyptic world. Dog like creatures spreading infection that makes people attack healthy. And HIM. Can you have a crush on a creature not from your normal world? That is not really handsome or hot but has that Something? Well I guess you can because I'm crushing real hard in him.

I cannot wait for the next part. I really want more. Like now please?

Definitely a 5 star read!

Basically entertaining, but not much more. So, Mya decides to cross the zombie and hellhound infested state to get home to her family (without verifying they'll be there). Along the way she runs into Drav, a large, human-like creature who decides he's going to protect the female at all costs (without asking if she's interested in this). That's the plot...all of it. The book is basically just them running from one place to another and Drove defeating anything that threatens Mya. There really isn't a lot to it in terms of development or explanations. You are left with a lot of questions in the end (which is a cliffhanger).

Drav can conveniently learn a language by hearing a word once, so the whole communication thing is easily dismissed. And he's sweet. I liked Drav. Once he could understand her instructions, he was scrupulously attentive to Mya's demands not to touch her (consent, basically). I liked that. Mya wasn't particularly adept at survival, but not too stupid to live either. So, I was fine with Mya.

My issue arrises from the fact that <spoiler>he decides to protect her because he's never seen a female before. There's nothing inherently special about Mya herself that makes him take interest in her. He's pretty much just protecting the pussy or womb. He of course falls in love and I imagine Mya will in future books, but when you get right down to it,</spoiler> this isn't about Mya as a person.

All in all, I enjoyed the book. There were some funny bits. Like the meta scene where the large, fanged, grey-skinned man with pointed ears getting his hands on a Ruby Dixon novel. I'd be more than willing to read the rest of the series.

Note: I won a copy through Goodreads, but I chose to read and review it.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I won a copy of this book in a giveaway, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

This is the first book in this series, and my first time reading anything by M.J. or Becca. I do own several of Melissa’s books, and I just bought one of Becca’s because I loved this book so much! This book was an unexpected delight to read! I should warn you though that it ends in a cliffhanger way which is killing me because I want more and to know what happens next. I’d say this classifies as a New Adult as the main character Mya is in college. There is lots of violence not making it appropriate from younger readers.

When I started reading this book, I never read the blurb. Sometimes, I like to be surprised, and I definitely was because I didn’t know this was a post-apocalyptic zombie type of book. The book starts with Mya and her roommate studying in their dorm room, but they are watching the news. I was pulled into the story and didn’t even realize it. Mya and Drav are quite the pair, and Drav is very protective of Mya. He is learning English as Mya talks to him. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just tell you that this book is amazing and has tons of action.

I highly recommend this book to any reader who like post-apocalyptic books of survival mixed with fantasy and zombies, and if cliffhangers both you, you may want to wait until the series finishes and read them at that time. I hate waiting, but I will because this book was fantastic! For now, I’m not so patiently waiting for the next book!

I read everything Melissa Haag writes so I was super exited when I heard she was coming up with something new and different than what I'm used too and I'm so happy with the outcome! She teams up with Becca Vincenza and write this worlds ends zombie apocalypse and romance story. I could not put it down! I was hooked from the beginning with the story and characters. We meet Mya who is normal college girl and then everything goes down with some simple earth shakes that brings out demons dog hounds looking animals but aren't ..that Hunt people who then turn zombie lookalike. On her quest to get back to her family she witness her companions killed by someone who lookes like human but not. This is where Myas crazy journey starts. She learns his name is Drav and slowly starts learning tru him how this apocalypse started. Drav is they key to Mya questions and her help to get back to her family but at what price? The only thing saving her with this Drav is that she's a woman with boobs and apparently in his world there is no such thing. Good job boobs. Obviously we all know they are great but bonous for the zombie apocalypse! Can't wait for the next books!

Mya's at college when the apocalypse suddenly occurs. Earthquakes are breaking out worldwide and rabid dogs carrying the zombie virus are attacking and infecting people. Chaos breaks out as she flees to her parents and little brother in Oklahoma City. She's just hitched a ride with a group of people when a grey man with a huge cock comes out of nowhere and starts sniffing and grabbing at her. Turns out, he likes her and he doesn't want to let her go....

This book was actually more entertaining than i expected but to be honest, i wasn't expecting much. The authors managed to keep it somewhat interesting because they didn't fill this book with pages and pages of boring and repetitive sex scenes (in fact, there are none in the first book). . Instead, they focused on Mya's journey through the apocalyptic wasteland (that's right; the US basically becomes a "wasteland" within a mere few hrs of the apocalypse) and her struggle to survive. I also thought they managed to make Drav's story interesting. In this case, I liked the fact that they did not give his POV in the traditional romance format (i'm not sure i could've taken that as i usually find this repetitive in romance books).

I'd say this is worth a read if you have nothing else but keep in mind, this author broke her story into 3 books. They do not end on horrible cliffhangers but it's still annoying.

Loved it. Despite a surplus of zombie-apocalypse stories out there, this one really stood out. I think it was the creepy hellhounds that caught my interest (along with great writing and an engaging main character) and I was fascinated by the mysterious ‘grey man’ as soon as he was introduced. I loved Mya’s genuine reactions and the lack of drama (or stupidity) on her part. Drav’s language development was fascinating, and I’m a sucker for those alpha male types. Plus, excellent comic relief (sometimes tears of laughter) as Drav learns about females and social acceptable (and unacceptable) actions.

I loved this book, it was totally different from what I expected. Mya a college is a college student when all hell breaks loose. She Must fight her way to her family, when an unforeseen proctor shows up.. this book pulls you in from the first page, many twists and laugh out loud moments through the book. Melissa Haag builds a world that allows you to live it as you are reading it.

This is an entirely new take on a zombie apocalypse! It was a great read. As someone who does not like the gore that normally accompanies the typical zombie novel, I was pleasantly surprised with how addicted I became. I strongly recommend this to anyone, whether they like zombies or not. Because what came with them will make any reader demand more!
