Jon has really out done himself with this book. Truly amazing guidance, stories, and positive steps to take to be that positive leader we all need to be! I have a book of basically highlights of information that I will be able to use and share with others within my organization. I highly recommend to purchase this book, read it, and then use the principles to grow and learn and make those better around you by sharing the information with them in a positive atmosphere that all can strive to be better and make themselves better.

Jon is an amazing inspirational writer! His stories are real life and allow for immediate implementation. I appreciate the way he leads you into reflecting on your own thoughts and how your own thoughts totally drive your reactions and leadership style. He recommends that you "talk to yourself instead of listening to yourself." I believe that is a powerful message since it is natural to doubt yourself ~ but you can encourage yourself and believe yourself into being the positive force that is needed!

Jon Gordon doesn't disappoint with his newest book. Not only does he engage the reader with countless stories and examples of real world positive leadership in action, but he provides the reader with realistic ideas and strategies that can be used in a variety of leadership roles. This is an easy read, but one that will make you reflect and want more. As a school leader, I am inspired!

Such an amazing book! But fair warning...make sure you have a new highlighter on hand because you will be marking a lot! I can't wait to share this book with my management team. There are many practical suggestions for dealing with negativity...both in yourself and on your team. Putting these principles into practice is sure to make you a better leader! Highly recommend this book and all of Jon Gordon's other books as well.

This book perfectly combines real life examples, research based statistics, and applicable actions that show why and how to be a more positive leader. As a huge fan of Jon Gordon I had very high hopes for this book and this book exceeded every expectation, I have already read it twice and I know it will be one I go back to again and again.

Leadership is not easy and sometimes it takes doing unconventional things. In this book Jon Gordon walks us through many experiences, some his own, some he's previously written about, and others he has learned about over the years. When you remain positive in the face of adversity, dissapointment, and rejection, your will to win and be great stays with you. One thing that's stressed is even positive leaders have negative thoughts, but the difference is positive leadership doesn't let the negative thoughts take over. This is yet another highly recommended, easy to read book that gives insight we can all use.

Great read with plenty of instant nuggets & even more to reference for years to come. Dive in & enjoy Gordon's style that teaches, mentors & leaves you wanting to continue reading. Can't wait to implement some of these ideas.

Book Review: Jon Gordon's Power of Positive Leadership
I wondered as I read author Jon Gordon’s book The Power of Positive Leadership how I might review it, even before I decided I would. As I type this, I am hard-pressed to think of ways to bestow my opinion without repeating myself over and over again. It is those very words (over and over), that put me in this current predicament. How do I write a critique of any length when the repetitiveness, tedium, and overtness of Gordon’s message on the power of positivity caused me to roll my eyes and frankly, to nearly tune out? Thankfully, Gordon’s Power of Positive Leadership is brief – less than half a day reading time. Were it not for a few valuable and applicable principals regarding leading with positivity; the book would have been a total waste of time for me. Making matters more frustrating, Gordon, who penned the bestseller The Energy Bus, spends an exceptional amount of time touting his other books, like one long self-aggrandizing infomercial for Jon Gordon. His written several decent books, I get it. I also know that positivity begets positivity and a positive leader, who can foster positivity and do so in honest and positive earnest, will, even in the face of adversity, eventually and positively succeed. However, this, at least to me, is not a new message or concept. It is kind of like Forrest Gump says “life is like a box of chocolate” - such is the case with a positive outlook on life – think positively, and even lousy chocolate will taste good. With optimism and a positive outlook, tribulations will still occur, but our reaction to it is what defines us, our team and our end game.
Gordon tell personal stories – about family, failures, and enlightenment and he shares tales of successful positive leadership, in the locker room and in the boardroom, but even these become monotonous. It’s a bit like watching the movie Rudy on a continual loop – okay, okay, we get it. In fairness Gordon does, in the second to the last chapter, introduce the term GRIT saying “Grit keeps you moving forward through the sting of rejection, pain of failure, and struggle with adversity. When life knocks you down, you may want to stay down and give up, but grit won't let you quit” (p. 170-171). I found this just another way to put a spin on an “if you fall, get up, dust yourself off and keep going,” something my mother used to tell me from the time I was a little girl -before Jon Gordon was born. Ultimately, Gordon, at least in this one of his sixteen books, offers little that is insightful or inspiring.

“Positive leaders drive positive cultures.” (The Power of Positive Leadership, pg 15)
In his book, The Power of Positive Leadership, Jon Gordon gives information on how and why positive leaders transforms teams and organizations. By doing, this positive leaders change the world.
As I began to read this book, I was quick to be introduced to the idea that positive leadership is not optimistic leadership. The difference between the two is that positive leadership understands that there will be struggles, trials, and hardships. It does ignore problem or treat them as if they are minor.Rather, Positive Leadership sees trials and struggles as necessary steps towards an end.
Gordon begins by first laying out what real positive leadership looks like. From there he begins to go into the various aspects of positive leadership and why it is beneficial to have a positive attitude while being a leader. It is not that Gordon is trying to put together a euphoric experience. Rather he is seeing the value that positive leadership can bring and lays for some guidelines so that positive leaders can be successful while working hard to get there.
One area that I found especially helpful is chapter 11. In this chapter Gordon lays out that positive leaders have to have determination semicolon what he calls. It gets into the knowing why you do what you do knowing, what you want to do, knowing that you love it, recognizes that at some point you will fail, but keep doing the right things and ignore the critics.
It is perhaps this last section on ignoring the critics that is really helpful because there are going to be critics and a positive leader has to know that they're going to come. However, he will not allow their negativity to affect him and bring him down. Rather he will see their criticism, use it if valuable, and if it is not, disregard it and continue to move forward towards the goal.
This book should be read by those entering college and continue to be read throughout their college experience. Much of the information in this book needs to be taught to this demographic but is often not taught by leaders around them.As a result they struggle with figuring out what they need to do, how to go about doing it, and where to find guidance. I believe this book is a part of that guidance factor.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Just finished the book. As usual with any Jon Gordon book, you are inspired to do more and work harder to create a positive environment in the workplace. I have read all of Mr. Gordon's books and I see this book as wrapping up the principles from some of his most important books (Energy Bus, The No Complaining Rule and Training Camp) into a compilation of short stories and real life examples from his consulting work with different organizations and professional teams. I have captured a lot of good quotes and a few exercises to try with my team at work. I think this is definitely a valuable book for anyone interested in increasing positive thought in the workplace. If you haven't read Energy Bus I would also read that book as a companion.

Finally a book and leadership style that utilizes, celebrates, and promotes a lens of positivity. "Love powers grit, and it also powers you over fear. I’ve heard it said that fear is the second most powerful force in the universe because it’s the one thing that can keep us from our vision, goals, and dreams. Thankfully, there’s a force more powerful than fear, and it is love." Leaders who are relationship and purpose based will love this books as it helps reinforce what we know to be successful. Not since Don Clifton has the power of positivity been so accurately depicted.

I have used Jon's other books to teach leadership and will definitely use this book as well. The Power of Positive Leadership is an excellent book which offers a number of tools which can be used by aspiring and current leaders. The theme of being positive resonates deeply within me as I attempt to make sure I and the other leaders cast positive visions and promote a positive culture.
This book will go a long way in making that occur. I highly recommend reading Jon's newest book.

THIS IS A MUST READ for all leaders. Leadership comes in different packages and it doesn't matter if you're a CEO, manager, principal, teacher - you need to read this book. Jon's thoughts, along with many other world-wide leaders share their thoughts of being positive and having a vision for success. I am using this book as I journey into a new school as the building principal. This, along with The Energy Bus, are going to be by my side! Buy the book!

Something any leader should read. Lots of insightful thoughts that make you question your own leadership and why you do the things you do! I highly recommend this book on leadership and culture. "Culture is not the most important thing; it's the only thing."

Jon Gordon's books break difficult concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps thoughts. The "Power of Positive Leadership" is another book from his fantastic collection that talks about the importance of being a positive leader, and what specifically to do to become one. His books are simple (yet not necessarily easy) reminders to make a difference in the world. This book in particular is written in such a way that I could put it down (due to my busy schedule) and pick it back up again a few weeks later and not have to restart the whole book. THANK YOU!

Truly enjoyed this book. I included this book as part of my professional development strategy plan and I am certainly glad I did. This book included so many examples on how Jon had help organizations and professional ball clubs become highly-motivated, laser-focused, and just become competitive again. My absolute favorite take-away is "Talk to yourself, don't listen to yourself". The best ever!

This book is so boring. The author said nothing I don't know and he keeps repeating "positive leadership" "positive thinking" over and over and over again. Besides, the author mentions "positive" so many times in a paragraph, and I started to wonder if his vocabulary is very limited. I really can't believe I paid money for a book with nothing I can learn from.
This is the most terrible book I have ever read. What a waste of my money and time.

Jon Gordon has done it again!! In his newly released "Power of Positive Leadership" Jon challenges his audience to look at how and why positive leaders transforms teams and organizations. Jon captivates his audience by breaking down the true power of positivity. He investigates how positive leaders can drive a positive culture, how positive leaders can manufacture connected teams, and how positive leaders have a purpose. As a middle school teacher and high school softball coach, this book speaks to me on several transformational. It motivates me to be a positive leader that reaches my team on a deeper level, inspires my athletes, to be someone who builds meaningful lasting relationships, and teaches how to speak to their hearts. Thank you Jon for continuing to inspire me and for giving me tools to reach the young people I encounter daily!

Once again, Jon Gordon's does not disappoint! I love the insightful stories and strategies he shares in his newest book, "The Power of Positive Leadership." As a first year school administrator this book has provided me with excellent guidance and strategies to build a positive successful culture in my school. “Culture is not just one thing: it's everything!”
Gordon provides his readers with a framework to become and create positive leaders. I highly recommend this book and will definitely be sharing it with all of the administrators and leaders in my school district.

I'm sure this will be nothing new--another outstanding work by Jon. As a college basketball coach, you probably won't find anything as good to use with your players. One very important principle hits you right away-you are positive because life can be hard. Dealing with the ups and downs of 18-22 year olds, you'd better be positive. Love the Dabo Swinney stories as well.

Jon is an unbelievable writer, but most importantly an even greater person that truly believes in his ability to challenge and motivate people individually and collectively. Throughout his new book, Jon finds a way to provide his readers with various examples and stories that can be applied to various different settings. "Leaders Find a Way to Unite and Connect People"! Jon does an outstanding job to keep his readers focused and task-goal oriented after closing his book. I find myself utilizing his strategies and becoming a problem solver instead of a complainer. It is evident that Jon's ideas are not just words, but practices that he puts into action. His positive demeanor and writing style will help anyone looking to live a more positive lifestyle. Great Job Jon!

My favorite Jon Gordon has been "Training Camp " because of a strong Texas Football history
but I am inclined to give "The Power of Positive Leadership a close second. Perhaps it's not
fare, since I've read "Training Camp" 20 times since 2015. I think this new book will soon rival
Gordon's best. As leaders we must keep the information, the inspiration and the instructions always before
us, and "The Power of Positive Leadership does this.

This is my second Jon Gordon book. I read Training Camp and couldn't put it down. After reading The Power of Positive Leadership I will be be buying and reading all of Jon's books. As a husband, father of two boys, school teacher, HS basketball coach, and director of a large travel basketball club, I see how his books are impacting me in a POSITIVE way. I am applying his principles in The Power of Positive Leadership to all areas of my life. I wish I had this book when I started teaching and coaching back in 1988. I am looking forward to continuing to apply these principles for the years to come. Thank you Jon! Your book will have an effect on many.

This book has been life-changing. Not only for myself for those around me who I have been able to influence. My book was practically highlighted all yellow! I have read all of his other books and this one is right there at the top as my favorite. I am able to apply everything that I have read in the book into my own organization as a college soccer coach, on and off the field and in many other aspects of my life. There is nothing that outdoes POSITIVITY, especially in leadership. I will re-read and re-read this book many times because the more I read it, the more I grow, and the more I can impact my organization in a positive way! I am getting copies for all of my friends who coach at this level.

In many ways, The Power of Positive Leadership reads like a devotional. There are nine main sections, such as “Positive Leaders Create and Share a Positive Vision,” “Positive Leaders Create United and Connected Teams,” and “Positive Leaders Have Grit.” Each of those sections has a handful of micro-sections, helping the reader to apply practices and/or be inspired by true testimonies speaking to the larger topic. A reader could easily reach a brief section daily or at whatever frequency they chose. Filled with lots of true and inspiring stories, there is much wisdom to be found within. And, because most of us aren’t naturals (even Jon) when it comes to positive leadership, we have to really work at developing and refining that skill. The Power of Positive Leadership is a practical and valuable guide to help you grow in that direction.

I read two pages and was completely sold and could not wait to keep going. Being positive for the people around you more than yourself is so valuable. As a coach trying to HS leaders, Jon Gordon's books have been so influential and helpful in the process of mentoring student athletes. But I have found they gave me more strength and value in my daily life. The Power of Positive Leadership is another powerful book to better your life and others around you. I highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you Jon for continuing to make my life more positive but most importantly, the others around me as well.

Don't start reading this book at night before you go to bed if you want to get to sleep quickly. I made that mistake last night and was up half the night because I couldn't put it down and when I did put it down, I couldn't stop thinking about what I had read. Jon Gordon supplies a lot of great ideas on positive leadership that I can apply right away with my team. I woke up this morning feeling a different level of optimism and energy. I would highly recommend this book for anybody who is in any sort of leadership position who is looking to change, build, or enhance the culture you are currently in to make a positive impact on the people around you.

You have done it again! Another great motivational read.. In my opinion all employees regardless of level of management must read this. The concepts, however simple, remain with you. It provides insight into the power of positive. Whether you are in the cooperate world or on the field, the balance of examples in the book provide opportunities for all to make a connection to the message. I also loved how many of Jon Gordon's other books were seamlessly weaved into the fabric of this one! It is a super reminder how being positive can allow us the opportunity to be not only a great leader but the best version of ourselves!
