i'm afraid that i was uncomfortable with this book although the story is good and the characters are fun. i had just finished reading another book that focused on another dysfunctional family and i was about done with the South in the 50's . while i think that as a nation we have a long way to go to have any sort of race equality, the language of that time was offensive and i'm please that is not our frame of reference. Also, two drunk fathers who did nothing to raise the morale or fortunes of their families was too depressing. But that was my fault. Maybe if it had not followed so quickly on the end of the other book i might have felt better about it. I realized at the end of both books that i was angry with bad parenting.

Like all her other novels, Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man transports readers to a bygone era filled with small towns, eccentric characters, and life lessons wrapped up in humor. Daisy is a lovable character, exuding both childhood innocence and insight far beyond her age. A must read for Fannie Flagg fans.

A fun southern read. Not her best but definitely "downloadable". The resilience of children is amazing and parents who make bad decisions explored. There is a lot of kindness in this book and humor.

A professor at Compton Community College included a bit of this book in her recently published anthology. I am embarrassed to admit that I was laughing out loud while reading it on bus and train. There was nothing I could do about it because this book is just that funny!

A quick easy read. Fannie Flagg offers a light hearted look at a by-gone era and laugh out loud humor. I have read all of her other novels and this one didn't disappointed. All of her books are worth the time.

As always, Fannie Flagg writes with wit and gives us an endearing protagonist. Loved the story as told through a young girl's perception. There are some truly laugh out loud moments! Enjoyed this book!

This was an absolutly wonderful book!! Daisy Fay is hilarious, as well as the other characters. Her father is a riot (besides the whole alcholic thing)!! I did not want this book to end. I highly recommend this book!!

Anyone can relate to Daisy Fay's self conscious transition from being an awkward young girl to a lovely woman, but not everyone could tell it as endearingly and as warmly as Flagg. A fun, can't put-it-down tale that evokes poignant memories of the 1950's. Read it for yourself, then share it with a teen girl you love.

Fannie Flagg does it again! We follow Daisy Fay through the trials tribulations of growing up as told by Daisy herself. We first meet her as an 11 year old child, then a teenager, then a grown woman. Funny and poignant. You'll fall in love with Daisy Fay!

Fannie Flagg has a way of always making me smile. And as fate would have it, I seem to pick up one of her books when I need to smile. Daisy Fay had me not only smiling but laughing out loud in no time. The characters are so flawed but so real. Chances are they will remind you of someone in your family tree.
