I have had the friend dance with the monster. Hide from the monster, and sadly the monster has always won. Glass makes me want to know more of what happened to Kristina, and I can only hope Bree was left in the jail.

I thought this was going to read like an autobiography/novel... than to see each page basically in longer half-baked haiku's, was a disappointment in itself. The story was interesting, but I feel I was gypped out of my money because I wanted a "good read," not a "30-minute read." The author certainly has poetic prose, but I was just expecting a more thorough format as in the likes of "Go Ask Alice." Not enough juicy tidbits can be comprised through short and vague poems as compared to a traditional journalistic format when the setting is about a teenage girl and drug abuse. It certainly left me wanting more; from details, surroundings, storyline... to a longer read overall.

This book was informative and scary. Anyone who would even thing about using drugs should read this book and then run, run far away from any drug out there. Something that can get ahold of a person like that, and control your life is something to stay away from. So run from any drug that comes near.
The book was good, written well and an eye opener.

They days of being invincible have gone the way of the dodo. Unfortuantely, the days of parents uttering the words "not my child" has become evermore prevalent...

Crank, and subsequently Glass, is a relatively realistic picture of how choices made from insecurities can lead to a downward spiral. Hopkins' verse lent to the lifetime-in-a-moment world that many people life in. Not just teens.

As for the style, though occasionally distracting when getting *into* the story, it was often purposeful in its design (see the opening pages and read the single words! Loved the not-so-hidden story!)

Read this book. Let your teen read this book AFTERWARDS, and talk about its events. Have them read Glass as well. It's painful. Worth it.

Kristina Georgia Snow lives with her mother in Reno, and is sent to spend some time with her father, who lives in Albuquerque. She is a junior in high school and is a very innocent, faultless girl until she meets Adam when she is living with her dad. Adam had an alter ego named Buddy, and when Adam introduced himself to Kristina, she decided to make up another name for herself that would be different to the person that she truly was. She introduced herself as Bree. Adam eventually introduced her to the monster, also known as crank. During the short time she was in Reno, she became addicted to the monster.

Adam and Kristina, or "Buddy" and "Bree", went through a lot together and even fell in love, but soon enough it was time to return to Reno with her mother. Kristina continued to use drugs and she was never the same girl as she was when she left to go see her father. When she returned home, she realized that a long distance relationship would not work with Adam, and she moved on and found Chase and Brendon. She became involved with both of them, and witnessed something she never expected.

This novel is a great way to show how drugs can make one's life spiral out of control exceptionally fast. Ellen Hopkins is a magnificent writer that knows how to gain the readers attention without letting it go. It shows situations that are possible for many teenagers, and many teens may use this novel as a warning. As Kristina changed in a short amount of time, so can anyone else, and it is important to be aware what is right and what is wrong. Ellen Hopkins also expresses in this novel that if you find yourself in trouble, you need to talk to someone about it, and the situation can be helped, or in some cases, fixed.

I personally loved this book, and it was one that I rarely put down, and every minute that I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about what would happen next.

This book is very real sounding and very relatable. It is written in a fashion that was hard to follow at first but a page-turner a few pages in. Keeping in mind that this is based on true events puts life into perspective.

Ellen Hopkins takes her time with these books. She does her research but she goes farther than facts. She gives you a story, not your average happy-ending stories but what true struggles people are going through. She made her own writing technique but writing each page as a poem and typing them in a design. She truly is a magnificent author with a way of really connecting you to her characters.

This book makes you feel like you are actually speaking to the characters as your reading. And the stories are so realistic as I know from experience and from others close to me. She did an amazing job with this book! I have read it 4 times so far!

The story is good; it follows just about every stereotypical idea of a teenage girl who is hooked on drugs. The only issue I had with this book is that I read it on my phone and there are a lot of pages consisting of poems. Which would have been fine if the text was not so small: there are a few pages you will not be able to read if you get this book on your phone.

Ellen Hopkins writing style is unique and captivating. She writes of the horrors of being a drug addict yet makes it extremely poetic. I have been waiting to read this second intallment for a long time and was engrossed back into Bree's/Kristina's world immediately. I couldn't put the kindle down until I finished this novel. Which I did in about a day. Something I will read again and again. Worth. Every penny!!

I love the poetic porse in which Ellen Hopkins writes. And this is a haunting, true to life story, very well told as it tells about the beauty and the horrible beast of meth-addiction.
I think everyone should read it, because of the story itself as well as the style it's written in.
