Big fan of BDB, and loved this. Characters were different, really like the dreck/vampire angle, and the intensity of the mating "calling". am reading the second in this series now. As an avid reader of PNR, found this refreshingly different, yet met my expectations of good plot, characters, and just enough eroticism to be interesting.

My reading of the vampire theme remains within the Bram Stoker type of characters, which is the reason this novel turned to be quite a surprise as it dealt with the modern conception of these creatures.
The story was very well written and the plot unfolded swiftly.

In the bargaining of the story it had me overwhelmed with information, being the first book I've read of the series, but as I read it had me hooked the action and sex scenes were very good, and hot. I liked the story line, and how it progressed threw the book. The story had me where I'll be reading more of the series.

The characters were interesting. The story line was good. The profanity was not. I enjoyed reading this book, but I couldn't get past the language in some places. Also the scene at akm headquarters, Sam in bed with Micah, Josie' s name is there. Josie had left the room. Needs some work.

I was pleasantly surprised by this series. The characters have depth and there are multiple, overlapping story lines so you never get bored. I couldn't put it down as I got sucked into the lives of Micah and Samantha, I was rooting for them the whole time. Great passion and a perfect ending. And Trace... can't wait for that story! Yum!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters, not your "old" fashioned vampires, much more modern day! The story line was fantastic and flowed quite nicely. The only thing I didn't like was the story ended! I am really looking forward to reading more about Sam, Micah and Trace!

So many books have been written about Vampires since I was a kid, and to be honest I much prefer the ones writen today, yes they can still kill us, enthrall us, but slowly they are becoming more and more human, with feelings and falling in love.
For several centuries one found a uneasy old truce between Vampires and their very distant cousins
a race of shifters called the Drecks. A vampire enforcement agency All the Kings Men (AKM) is the one that maintains the truce.
But volatile enforcer Micah Black loses his mate and spins into a agony because of this, he then seeks out a leader of the dreck's , Micah wants them to end his life and they are more then willing to assist him .
But ex-Army medic Samantha Garrett manages to stumble upon this and stops the carnage unfolding in front of her, something does happen and Micah's heart and feelings are on a collision with Sam's
Will Micah be able to save Sam from what is coming, will they both survive what is to come.

Loved the characters, the plot seemed repetitive, but i enjoyed none the less. Was slightly confusing until i got halfway into the book of understanding the information of all what was going on around them, but worked out in the end. Would love to read more in this series.

Enjoyed the read. There was straight forward interaction between the characters. None of the woman misunderstanding the male lead n he thinking she didn't want him crap. Just good interaction n real life emotions. Was a quick read and did not have to give a lot of thought to plot or character developement.Nice way to spend a couple of evenings . Not usually the type of material I read.

I love vampire books and this one really hits the spot! There is lust, love, death, fighting, and lots of sexy vampire agents!
If you don't like M/M scenes, this book may not be for you.
I loved all the characters and I can't wait to find out what happens next!

I loved this book because it was edgy and different. It progressed at a good rate. I would like to have known more about the All the Kings Men in general a background. Even without it the book was intriguing can't wait to get the next one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. My only issue was that it ended to quickly.I loved that both main characters were actually flawed and not written to be prefect. It made the story much more realistic in that it was easy to relate. I look forward to reading more from this author!

Some discordance with the main character at first, until he figures out his own needs. Intro to light bdsm, which is fairly accurate (nice for a change.)
I liked the flow of the book and the honesty of the characters. A very good read

I loved this book. I read ALOT of romance novels, but this one is the first one ive read that actually can relate to what ppl feel when a libed one leaves them. I love that people can relate to Micah over a situation like the one he has with Jackson. Awesome read.

Love this! Wish it would have finished out Trace's story here, already got the next one and can't wait to dig in! Perfect amount of story, right amount of lust, and balancing erotic scenes. Not overtly graphic. Not a quick heat up read, much more story line.

I think the writing style was a little amateurish. I mean I'm not a grammar nazi or anything, and errors don't bother me (lord knows I'm not one to talk), and there weren't really any noticeable errors. I can't put my finger on it, it just reads like this may have been her very first novel. Usually experienced novelists are more poetic I guess. Maybe it was just the dialect. The character's tones just seemed a little weak and needy for strong alpha tough as nails men. And the whole, "he left me I want to kill myself" and the cuttings (what is this? High school?) Those put me off from the start. How is depression, suicidal tendencies, and self-mutilation sexy? Confidence is sexy. The author must have missed the memo.
Whatever, it was still a highly entertaining book that I couldn't put down. I guess it was similar (and I use that term loosely) to the BDB although the sex scenes were nowhere near as hot. But they were tasteful enough that even the prudish of readers would not get turned off.
I am interested in reading more of the series and getting into the other characters but the 2nd book in the series in m/m and that's not really my cup of tea. I am going to have to pass on this series because I don't want to miss crucial details in the storyline but I simply cannot suffer through an entire m/m book. Maybe if it was done in a free novella, I could stomach through it. But I'm not PAYING to read m/m porn. Sorry. Not that there's anything wrong with it. It's just that I need to feel a connection to the hero and, I'm sorry, but gay men do not turn me on.
Maybe that was the problem! The whole straight, then gay, then straight thing ruined it for me. Either you're gay or you're straight. I do not care to hear about people who are confused like that and I have no attraction towards gay men. I think without that aspect (and the whole depression thing), it could have been a great book. The gay supporting characters was a nice touch.... Just not as the lead.

This was interesting but went a little to fast. The characters were strong but I would have like a little more depth and story. I will try the next book to give this series a fair chance. It was okay and has potential.

RISE OF THE FALLEN left me wanting and begging for more. The story has tension, romance, conflict, and a cast of characters that will draw you in. This book was well written and I look forward to more of ALL THE KING'S MEN. Have to read book #2, now!!

Vampires, drecks and humans, involved in romantic relations. Here, Lynne treat the subject of homosexuality with great sensitivity. Again, the author gives you, paranormal erotic romance in a good story.

I enjoyed the new idea however the story was told too much verses being shown to the readers to see for themselves. The relationships felt stunted and forced in many cases. I think with some practice an work though I would come to truly enjoy this author and her fresh story ideas!

I liked both the Hero and heroine. Hero might be biting someone's else head off one second, but his whole demeanor would change when addressing heroine, always treating her so well. Good start to world building. Hopefully more to follow in future books.
Yes, I do plan to continue the series. The other potential future Hs looked intriguing.

Can anyone say BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD? This book is what it is. Donna Lynne is definitely a fan of the WARDen. Not that this is a copy, but I kept thinking of The BDB while reading this book. It's a good first book of a series. There's good character introduction to makes you curious of other characters and their own story lines. I just don't think I'm going to read them. To me the hero fell out and in (again) of love really quick and I didn't feel the connection between him and the heroine. At least not for this love at first sight storyline. A less jaded reader, I'm sure, would swoon, but I just wasn't feeling it. The jokes weren't very funny and what they did to the ex-husband is just sad. It'll all come down to the cost of the book. Anything over .99¢, it won't be added to my collection.
