Most of the content was nonsensical babbling that had nothing to do with the sketchy storyline. It was like hearing about a bad acid trip that made no sense. I tried really hard to read the whole thing (I pride myself on finishing books I start) but I just couldn't bring myself to finish reading this nonsense.

This gets 5 stars because of the enchantment.
Getting lost in a book is a treasure that not many authors can make a reader do. Tim and LT had me hooked from the first page and I couldn't put it down, I read all the way through without a break, the second and third are just as thrilling, you become part of the story and can't escape.
These books have become a what is that to omg you have to read them, not many books make it to my top ten all timers but these are, you would be a fool not to read them! I can't wait for book 4, and hope it comes soon!

The story is strangely addicting. I feel like I'm following Grobnagger into some kind of mind warp while observing everything around me in a hyper-aware state. Things happen to him, events lead him. Strangers tell him things. He has seizures. Are they a disease or an overflow of reality?

This collection is a great way to get started with this incredible series. I was fortunate enough to read the first book "Fade to Black" at no cost and I was hooked from there. I have since been reading them as they have come out and can't wait for the fourth installment. This is a great, fun read that brings together a little fantasy, and a little thriller wrapped up in some very witty comedy which makes this collection a must-have for any reader.

Visceral and pulse-pounding story... Like being in the middle of a dark action-thriller movie. Fade to Black, 1st volume, is a real kick in the gut, and reading it was both gory and great... makes one feel more alive!

Whatever you are doing STOP for just a few hours and read, at least the first book, Fade To Black, of The Awake In The Dark trilogy by L.T. Vargus and Tim McBain. It is entertaining, gripping, surreal, profound and enlightening. A lot of the world's problems could be solved if we just thought about the message in these pages. "Every motivation boils down to fear or love," says Jeff's much older friend Glen.

Excellent everything. Writing, editing, story, etc. Would give it 7 stars if that option existed. There seems to be a vacuum for metaphysical fiction and this fills in up very nicely. I loved every bit of this book!

These books are amazing! I read somewhere they are supposed to be the nex "Odd Thomas" series, but I prefer these greatly! I'm about to start the third book, and I hope that soon I'll be able to watch the first movie! *cough cough*

About to finish Fade to Black, and I can't put it down! I found this series from a friend's recommendation. We both love the Dresden series, and he turned me to Awake in the Dark. Recommended if you like interesting and thought provoking reads. Can't wait to read the others! I'm very new to the series but nonetheless a new fan. Keep up the great work.

This series was given to me. I didn't read it right away. When I did it was a wonderful surprise to find that my friend knew this series was something if it hadn't been given to me I would have never opened this "type" book and once I started reading the first book that it would grab me all 3 would be enjoyed.

Unfortunately I have to go to work and still do household chores otherwise I would have already finished this series as it has been hard to walk away after starting the first book. My rating may jump to all five stars once I complete book three.
