Jack Reacher always exceeds my expections. Every new edition to the series exceeds the previous edition exponentially by 100. How author Lee Childs is able to accomplish this is mind boggling. It is like each new edition is a standalone story written to exceed anything else in the known universe and the next one appears and the next one and the next and ... They just get better and better without any of the usual formulas for advancing the storyline. Jack Reacher, yeah!

Jack Reacher explores the United States and encounters people needing help. Sometimes willingly and sometimes not, each book chronicles his pursuit to uncover and unravel the messes people involve him with. He is extremely observant, smart and very much a bad-ass. The writing is excellent with sympathetic victims and loathsome villains and the dialogue does not distract from the story. Interesting and surprising plot-twists abound and the action sequences make you turn the pages fast so as not to miss anything. Highly recommended!

book Reacher is not movie Reacher. both are stand alone characters. not unlike the movie Borne vs book Borne.
Both Tom and Matt's versions are a bit more ahead of everybody by a couple of steps. the books guys are more human, slower, but they get the job done. enjoy the books and the movies too. Cruise should do two more, mainly, I want to see how the dude in the bus gets dealt with.

I started reading the Jack Reacher series with the book called "61 hours".... that got me hooked and made me want to read the complete series. Starting with number one seemed to be the logical thing to do, so I bought the box set. No regrets!

Too politically correct and clichéd for my taste, much like Tom Clancy's later novels. After about two books you can tell this series is being written by a limey who thinks he knows America. Series is entertaining to be sure, just not as compelling as I thought it would be. I often found myself wondering if the publishers were paying Mr. Child by the word as most of these novels are about 100 -120 pages too long. Of the six novels I'd recommend "The Killing Floor" and "Tripwire" forget about the rest. Cheers!

The Jack Reacher books are what they are. The character, while not infallible, approaches the "too competent to believe" category, but in my opinion, doesn't cross the line into it. Generally, Reacher's encyclopedic expertise is directly in the areas for which he trained as an army MP, so I can suspend my disbelief. The mysteries that Reacher has to solve are interesting, and always keep my interest. The author has set an interesting problem for himself in making it believable that a character that has chosen to wander the country by himself keeps getting involved in these complicated situations. It works for me a lot of the time, but not every time.

I'm a Dennis Lehane fan. I'd rank these a little below Kenzie and Gennaro (which I *really* like), but they're generally a good read.

I'm thoroughly hooked on Lee Child's Jack Reacher books. Love this character and his eccentric, heroic ways! It was great reading through the first 6 novels in a row and seeing how the author was able to refine and grow the character, and the crazy situations he gets into. Suspenseful, engaging, spellbinding...

Great series! Action, comedy, and education are rolled into one gigantic blond former military cop. Jack's not a vigilante by choice, mind you. He's just one of those people that things happen around, and is uniquely qualified to take care of said things. Jack Bauer without the ego.

I read newer books in the Jack Reacher series and liked them and when I saw the first six bundled I had to get it. Each of the six books stand on their own and Reachers' character evolves nicely. If you like the character and Lee Childs writing style you can't go wrong with this book bundle.
