The Evil Inside by Heather Graham
4 STARS
The Evil Inside is a 4th in the Krew novels. I have not read any of the ones before, but I have read one after where he sets up another unit. I do feel that I have missed some about how the group worked together previous. But does do well standing on its own. I would like to read them all some day.
The story takes place in Salem, Massachusetts. It has a lot of the Salem Witch trials ref. in it. Even some of their ghosts.
Sam Hall a high price defense attorney is coming home to Salem to deal with his family home and almosts runs over a naked boy in the middle of the street covered with blood.
The police when they come put thier guns on the boy who is in shock and tells Sam he just killed his whole family with a ax.
Jenna Duffy is a member of a special team in the FBI when her Uncle Jamie asks her to come visit him on vacation now. On her way into town she hears about the murders that happened in the Lexington House. decades ago other sets of murder happened in that house.
Jenna's Uncle Jamie asked her to come because of other murders that happened last week and six months before that. They were killed by axe too.
Malachi Smith was accused of being seen coming out of the house by other teenage boys. Though a grocery owner swears that the boy was in his store for over an hour at time of first murder too. Now Malachi was under arrest for killing his family.
Malachi was different than most boys. He was skinny and belonged to a church that was strict. When the big football players would try and cause trouble for him he would just turn the cheek. In fact one football player at lunch time took his tray and started to beat himself up and said it was Malachi gave him the eye and made him do it.
Malachi was taken out of school because a lot of people believed the football player. Jamie knew that Malachi was innocent of any of the crimes and wanted jenna to help clear him.
Jenna sometimes see past events happen again she also sees ghosts too. Some of her team comes to visit the sites for halloween. Because the FBI can't investigate unless they are called in.
Jamie also convinces Sam to head Malachi defense probono. Sam also has a private investigator license to help him investigates what happens on his cases and finds the real killers.
So Jenna is just helping Sam with the defense. Sam does not believes that she can talk to ghosts. They grow a lot closer and Sam starts believing more.
are some love scenes in the books. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley.

vivek
Book four in the Krewe of Hunters miniseries more than lived up to my expectations
for this fantastic series. I was thrilled to see that the setting for this book was Salem, MA
especially as deep into history as this author tends to get. She did not disappoint this time
either. I enjoyed the old Salem history we all know, nicely meshed with newer legends
and events from the author's imagination. The characters in the town were as complex
and intermixed as the real people during the witch hunts.
Each book in this series has enough commonalities to keep you wanting to read the
next one with rich histories of the towns and great paranormal elements. But also, each
story has been different enough plot-wise to keep a reader anxiously turning the pages.
There is always a list of suspects and the reader never knows who to point the finger at
until close to the very end.
This series was obviously very well though out with a fantastic premise. Graham has
a gift for building suspense with a side of romance. You get to points where you want to
know more about the case and yet you also want more of the key couple in the story. The
nice thing about this series too is that the older characters you have previously gotten to
know always show up again.
As well, the paranormal moments are quite detailed, quite realistic and believable.
The ghostly encounters never get too crazy. They act as I would expect them too. Plus,
the author limits the abilities of the Krewe of Hunters, they just can't call to a ghost, they
have to work and then wait to see them. This adds not only to the reality of the situation,
but also to the dark mystery of it all.
I am definitely going to have to look into more of Graham's work now and I would
highly recommend each book in this series to anyone.

The history of Salem, Massachusetts and the infamous witch trials have always been a interesting part of history. Heather Graham does a great job weaving these events in with a modern day "who done it?" Again, awesome story telling!!! Yet another hard to put down book. Love this series!!

I enjoy this series by Heather Graham. I enjoy mysteries, and she has thrown in a little of the paranormal with it. She also includes historical information I find interesting. It is very easy to stay interested in the whole book while I am reading. Really no dull parts.

I was very excited to purchase this book but dang! Virtually every page contains a monologue about the evils of intolerance and how much damage is done because of our belief systems and fear of the unknown, etc. I don't mind the occasional sermon but Ms. Graham overdoes it. These are not original ideas! I debated between 1-star and 2-stars, but decided to give 2 stars even though I am halfway done with the book and could care less about finishing.

Sometimes I agonize with an author to "spit it out." Editing the verbal dawdling out of this book would reduce it by about a third. Some research into how police agencies work would be helpful. The frequent Halloween theme, too often with the same costumes, was overdone. I do believe that some people can "see" beyond our five senses. However, this example was not convincing. Overall, the book was disappointing.

This book started out really good and further into it I became bored. The writer drifts off to boring things to say and it just didn't hold my interest. I started flipping thru pages to the end so I could discover the killer and be done with it.

For me, the history was the best part of this book. That is the only reason why I give it three stars. Sadly, this series has a lot of errors in it, and there is a lot of mixed up information. I feel that this series needs a twist to spice things up. I am going to continue with the series because of my love of history and the paranormal aspect.
