WOW! This is such a beautiful and emotional story. Marcus and Imani have both been through some horrible experiences and I'm so glad Emerson Rose lets us read all about it. I really didn't know what to expect with a book over 100 chapters, lol. I thought there would be a lot of repetition, but that wasn't the case at all. I can't recommend this book enough!!! This is my first read by Emerson Rose, but it will definitely not be my last! I loved this book so, so much! I know it is a long book, but I honestly didn't want it to end. It is that good! One-click your copy today and fall in love with Marcus and Imani. You won't be disappointed with this book!!

Oh I when through a rollercoaster with this one. Marcus and Imani experienced some really bad times together and I felt I like I was with them through it all. At one point I wanted to throw in the towel because I was just frustrated with the uncertainty of Marcus, and then I kept reading because I wanted to know this would help towards his character development. This books controlled my entire Sunday, while it wonderfully lengthy it was also very entertaining. Kudos to you Ms Rose for producing this book because for me it was different from your past work and I completely enjoyed it.

This was the longest book. I think the author went overboard with this book. It just went on and on. Imani cried the entire book, Marcus was in the hospital 90% of the book. The book really started out good, I had hopes it would get back on track but it never did.

What an emotional and beautiful romance story that defies the odd of what love should and can be. This is Imani and Marcus’s love story. It isn’t the type where boy meets girl, boy gets girl and they live happily ever after. This is filled with angst, pain, distrust, passion, heartbreak, betrayal, caring, and most of all , Love.
Imani is an ICU nurse at a hospital in Seattle when she meets this patient who’s in a coma one night and this patient changes her life. That patient is Marcus. He’s broken, in terrible shape yet he is the most handsome man she has seen in her life. Its like she is being tempted into sin and she is unsure of what to do. She feels strangely drawn to this patient, this man. She takes care of Marcus while he is in this coma and when he comes out of it, first person he wants is Imani. Marcus isn’t a man you cross, he is dominant, strong, even while in a hospital bed. He is wildly successful and when he speaks, everyone stops to listen.
Their worlds collide to never be the same again. They are on a collision course and the outcome is one that neither of them saw. I do not want to give too much away because it would tell you the outcome in the story but OMG this was on hot story that has a lot of angst and a lot of pain on both main characters’ sides. I felt so bad for each yet I can see why they were drawn to each other. There is a lot of hot, steamy, erotic scenes between Marcus and Imani. Their passion felt real and so right. I loved the ending in the story because it was the icing on a delicious and rich cake. I highly recommend this fantastic novel.

My Rating: 4.8 stars *****

Imani Jefferson, an ICU nurse, believes that she is destined to be single due to an event in her life when she was nineteen. She survived the horror of being kidnapped and tortured only to keep her distance from all men ever since...until she gets a new patient at the hospital, Marcus Castillo. Imani can not understand why she feels so drawn to Marcus, why she seems to have a connection to him. This was a book that had so much that drew me in...mysterious stalkers, creepy employees, and of course the mystery of learning all about Marcus. I'm going to keep this short and sweet, there are too many details you need to learn on your own. If you're looking for a new alpha hottie, I do believe Marcus will fill that slot!

** Review by Gayle from Bloggers From Down Under **

“You go, I go”

Meet Imani.

An ICU nurse at a hospital in Seattle.
She loves her job, caring for patients, consoling family members and watching patients mend.
But Imani is broken internally.
After a horrific (and I mean painfully horrific) trauma that she suffered at the age of 19, Imani painfully had to rebuild her life all over again.

While working one night a patient is brought in after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. Imani is the patients nurse. Walking into the room what she discovers is breathtaking. He’s broken, hurt, battered and bruised, but he’s breathtakingly beautiful with a chiselled body, muscles galore.
He’s like a god sent from above.

Meet Marcus.

Strong, independent and sinfully sexy.
He’s successful to the highest degree.
When he speaks, people listen.
They are a means to an end.
Marcus will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
But he’s broken, battered and bruised.
He can’t open his eyes.
The main is indescribable.
He’s surrounded by darkness.
But he can hear her.
She is an angel sent from heaven.
Her voice is soothing to his soul.
He needs to see her.
It’s time to come out of this coma that has left Marcus dependant and confused.

It’s time for Marcus to me Imani.
It’s time for Imani to meet Marcus.
It’s time for their worlds to collide, never to be the same again.

Guys I seriously will not give you anything more than this because you need to read this amazing novel to appreciate it’s beauty, it’s raw emotion and depth.

But I will say this.
Welcome to a world of sheer heartache and pain.
Welcome to a world hurt and torment.
Welcome to a world of secrets and deception.
Welcome to a world of hope and love.
Welcome to Marcus’s and Imani’s worlds, where love will find a way, no mater what the cost and sacrifice.

Emerson Rose has given us perfection with Unbroken and I cannot recommend this novel high enough.
Believe me when I say, once you start you won’t stop.

A very emotional 5 star read.

This is the three-part story of a tormented man -- tormented by his past and the man he has become as a consequence. He intentionally motivates compliance through fear in all aspects of his life. Marcus is independent, rich as Croesus, and refuses to love anyone. Then the unthinkable happens. He is in a coma as the result of an auto accident that killed his passenger.

Marcus is pulled from the brink of death by one woman's touch, one woman's voice, one woman's music. Imani, his ICU nurse is his angel; his reason to live. This woman, tortured by her own past, has unlocked his heart and blasted through his walls. Marcus eventually awakens from the coma, essentially in love with his angel, but still as arrogant and domineering as ever.

Over time, they find they are soul mates. But their love is tested as Marcus's health worsens. The only reason he breathes and has a heartbeat is Imani. She simply won't give up on him, when he's given up on himself. But every step forward means two back. Terrible events -- a break-in, a bombing, a fire -- result in loved ones being injured or killed. Who can be trusted? Who is behind these horrific happenings? Can there be a HEA for these two who ignite each other and who have both survived so much heartache?

This is a long story in three parts, but well worth it with an intricate plot line that will keep you guessing. Well written, with characters of depth, authentic emotions, hot intimacy, and action galore. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

Marcus Castillo, a comatose patient in a very posh hospital for the rich and affluent, was mostly under the care of ICU nurse Imani Jefferson. Both experienced very traumatic events in their childhood and late teens respectively that drastically affected their adult futures.

Before his accident, Marcus was known as “the Beast” because he was cold and ruthless personally and in business, and Imani was known for being closed off to men socially and romantically. For some reason, however, she was very drawn to Marcus. She'd always talked to her coma patients, but she'd never connected or felt things for them before, like she feels for Marcus. When Marcus awakens from his coma, he only wants Imani to care for him and soon comes to rely on only her for a number of things. There’s a marked difference in his personality (he’s calmer, nicer) when he’s with Imani, and many hope the change is permanent, because he was too well known for being cold, cruel, ruthless and sadistic.

Marcus’ and Imani’s co-dependency upon one another, bond, and love are inspiring, but it will all be tested countless times by medical emergencies, tragic deaths of loved ones, death threats, etc. Will their love see them through these tough times/trials?

I highly recommend purchasing this book to find out. It’s lengthy, but well worth the read. You definitely WON’T be disappointed. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, and I certainly wasn’t! One of the best books I’ve read in a while!

This is a beautiful story of how trials and tribulations are always a true testament to longevity in relationships. This was a very emotional and gutt wrenching tale to say the least. Have you ever wondered if true love can heal evil tendencies? Have you ever believed that, at the blink of an eye, your life can change for the better? Well Marcus Castillo is a prime example of extraordinary can become ordinary if given the right circumstance. Imani was an Intensive Care Nurse that loved her job and wanted all of her patients to fully recover. Imani took time to speak with her patients keeping them aware of their surroundings and the day to day care that she provided. Imani had a traumatizing past and needed regularity to help her cope with daily trials. The strangest thing happened to Marcus and Imani. They discovered that they had an invisible ........ Can co-dependency lead to happily-ever-after? Can love cover hurt, pain, or betrayal? I received this book to give my honest and unbiased opinion and this is an EPIC tale that everyone needs to read.

She finds herself running back to her parents & her childhood home.

Part II

She thinks she is hallucinating & slips back into unconsciousness before any of it makes sense. When she finally awakens & Marcus explains what has happened she is angry about being kidnapping given her history. Things don’t go easily for them because Marcus has a blackout & he ends up hurting Imani. As they try to navigate through the problems associated with his brain tumor, one thing is clear Imani is going to fight help Marcus get better. When she believes she has found a doctor to help, he ends up bringing news with him that shakes the very foundation Imani & Marcus have worked hard to build.

Part III

Hearing that Marcus is the head of an Italian Mob family & everything that goes with it is hard to take in. While Marcus once again lies in a coma, Imani sits next to his bed waiting for him to wake up. Marcus' sister shares that when he had Imani sign papers so she would be taken care of in case something happened to him, one document that was signed was a marriage license. Imani is mad that Marcus felt he needed to trick her into marriage because she would have yes if he had just asked. When Marcus finally does come around his recovery is again threaten by the very man that put him in the hospital. Imani embraces her new found standing as Marcus' mob wife & tells the doctor who has been the source of all their troubles that he will perform Marcus' surgery. That he better not think about harming Marcus because she will make sure he doesn't live if he does. The surgery is long & agonizing but what scares Imani the most is she can't be sure which Marcus will greet her when he wakes up. It seems at long last their lives are going to take a turn for the best when a loving Marcus comes to & Imani is relieved. They soon return home to Seattle from Italy & just when they are given a precious gift that neither of them thought possible the unthinkable happens. Will Imani & Marcus every know peace? Will they be able to have their wedding ceremony as they planned? Who is behind all these bizarre happenings?

This was a trilogy in one book but worth reading every page! It is story about how two damaged people come together & find trust & love in another person. They each lived through ugly pasts that allowed themselves to build emotional walls around their hearts. Not trusting anyone to get close to them other then family & a very few friends. It is a beautiful story in how they grow to find comfort in what they each have to offer. Committing to being honest with one another & working toward healing old wounds by accepting each other as is helps make this love story believable & endearing. This book does have some triggers, it deals with both rape & child abuse so read with caution. This book is meant for mature readers.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

Unbrocken by Emerson Rose is not just a typical story, it is an epic tale of the trials and tribulations two people endure to reach their happy ending. Imani is a nurse working in the ICU of a private Seattle hospital that caters to celebrities and affluent customers. Imani has spent 10 years recovering from a viscious kidnapping, repeated assaults and rape which occurred when she was 19 years old. In order to survive, she has built a wall around her heart which shields her from relationships and potential harm. Marcus Castillo is a successful restauranture and self made billionaire with ties to organized crime. Born in Italy, he and his sister Elena were severely abused by a schizophrenic mother and absent father. A blind aunt was able occasionally shelter Marcus and Elena from their mother but ultimately she was not able to remove them from their mother and horrible childhood. As an adult Marcus opens lavish restaurants and private clubs that cater to BDSM customers. His success allows him to open his restaurants and clubs all over the world. Marcus has a home and restaurant/club in Seattle and suffers grave injuries that put him in a coma after a car accident that killed his passenger. It is while he is in the ICU that Imani first comes in contact with Marcus. Despite her previous resistance to relationships Imani immediately senses a magnetic attraction to Marcus. She requests that Marcus always be assigned to her care when she is at work. She talks to Marcus as she cares for him in the belief that despite his coma he can still hear her. Imani knows that her inexplicable feelings for Marcus crosses the line of her professional, ethical and moral duties to her patient, but she can't help herself. Three weeks after being admitted to the ICU Marcus awakens from his coma screaming for Imani who happens to be off work at the time and having a girls' night out. It takes several nurses and security personnel to prevent Marcus from climbing out of bed. He is so distraught that his nurse call Imani to ask her to come to hospital and hopefully calm down Marcus. Imani responds immediately and becomes Marcus's full time nurse when he is discharged from the hospital. once Marcus is home, people who knew Marcu from before his accident notice that his personality has changed dramatically and attribute this change to his head injury. However, Marcus develops additional medical problems that may be considered as contributing to his personality change. In the meantime, Imani and Marcus succumb to their attraction and Marcus convinces Imani to move in with him permanently. Their love for each other and Marcus's romancing skills are so hot their bed sheets should have burned! Sizzling hot!! A series of events threatens their happiness and very survival when it becomes evident that unknown forces are conspiring to harm them or the people they love. Unbrocken - A Bad Boy Billionaire Romance, is the first book by this author that this reader has read and the twists and turns in the story seem never ending. But there is a happy ending and this reader would love to read more about Elijah, just sayin'!

I voluntarily review an ACR of this book. This the first book I have read of Emerson Rose ?.
This is a really good story. It moves along rather quickly even though it's 900 or so pages on kindle 29hrs or so. It's an easy to read style of writing and the story flows along. It's an emotional, beautiful romance story that defies the odd of what love should and can be.
The two main characters are Imani and Marcus and this is their love story.
It isn’t your typical story where the boy meets girl, boy gets girl and they live HEA. This is filled with passion, pain, distrust, angst, heartbreak, betrayal, caring, and of course, Love ❤.
Imani is an ICU nurse at Trinity hospital in Seattle where they care for the rich, elite and famous people. She see herself as damaged goods after she was attacked and kidnapped at the age of 19. After all these years (10 or so) she has never felt anything for a man the way Marcus is making her feel. It's like magnet pulling her in. This is all new to her.
Marcus is coma patient under the care of Imani after he is in serious accident which left his passenger dead. He has a broken leg, in terrible shape.
Marcus is the most handsome man she has ever seen in her life. Its like she is being tempted, feels confused and doesn't know what to do. She drawn to him in a way she has never been. Imani takes care of Marcus's every need whiles he's in a coma, bathing, shaving and talking to him. She doesn't want to leave him but she has few days off. While she is out with friends she gets a call from the hospital Marcus is awake and is asking rather loudly for Imani. She is first person he wants to see. Marcus isn’t a man you say no to or cross, he is dominant alpha male, strong, does all of this from his hospital bed. Imani rushes to hospital and into his room it's chaos she goes to his bedside and speaks calmly saying his name and this calms him down. They are both taken back at the magnitude of the feelings they have for each other. He is very blunt of his feelings and she is confused and wants to stay professional but her feelings and the magnetic pool is overwhelming.
I do want to do the whole "SPOILER ALERT" or give the outcome of the story but MY GOODNESS this was a great story that has anxiety, fear, apprehension, trepidation and a lot of pain for both of the main characters. I felt so bad for them but I also could see why they were drawn to each other. There is hot, sexual desire excitement between Marcus and Imani. Their passion just felt right. The ending of the story was fantastic.
I would recommend this book. I suggest you grab your copy today and start reading you will not be disappointed. Happy reading ?

Unbroken is about Imani and Marcus. Imani was kidnapped at age 19, held, beaten, raped, and tortured for three days before being rescued. Ten years later, she is an ICU nurse who cannot seem to open herself up to men (for obvious reasons). Only her parents and sister know what happened to her, so it's understandable that her friends try and try to get her to go on dates. One day when she shows up to work, her coworker tells her about their newest patient. They work in a small, upscale hospital in Seattle, so Imani has seen and taken care of many rich, famous, and powerful people. She is not prepared for what awaits her in room 8 of the ICU.

Marcus was in a car accident that killed his passenger and put him in a coma, which landed him in Imani's hospital. From the moment Imani lays eyes on Marcus, she is drawn to him. And not just because he's so obviously gorgeous (despite his injuries). No, there is just something about him. She takes care of him as an ICU nurse should, but feels the need to stay with him, even feeling jealous and possesive of handing his care over to the next shift. She knows from experience that comatose patients can sometimes hear what's said around them, so she talks to him while she cares for him, explaining everything she does for him, and tells him that she's there waiting for him to come back. She even creates a playlist of music for him and plays it for him during her shifts.

On a rare night out with her friends, Imani gets a frantic call from her coworker. She's told that Marcus has woken and is screaming for her. She leaves her friends at the bar and rushes to the hospital. When she gets there and says his name, he immediately calms down and then whispers her name. Marcus practically begs Imani not to leave him, and she agrees. In fact, she rarely leaves his side and he ends up manipulating her to take a leave of absence from the hospital to take care of him full-time at his home.

That is only the beginning if this epic love story of two soul mates finding each other and fighting to stay together. Marcus has his own torturous past and Imani is warned that he is not a nice man, by many people. They have many battles to overcome, lots of intrigue, so many sweet romantic moments, tons of hot sex scenes, some very sad moments, plenty of happy moments...just everything. Epic was the only term that came to mind. I was hooked on this book from the very beginning and only stopped reading when I couldn't keep my eyes open. Get your copy and find out what happens with Imani and Marcus!

Wow, "Unbroken" is a rollercoaster ride, extraordinaire! It is a long book and not a quick read but I couldn't put it down. So much drama and angst, I was constantly turning the page as fast as I could cause it is so engrossing.

Imani and Marcus are two survivors of horrific situations, both warped by the horrors thrust upon them. Yet there's an instant connection between the two when they meet, even though Marcus isn't conscious. Something about him calls to Imani and her voice calls to him in darkness.

These are two people who have been through hell yet find hope & salvation in each other. Marcus is a dark alpha, but Imani's saucy yet kind soul is no match for them. I really enjoyed their story and very much recommend "Unbroken."

Here's hoping Elijah gets his own story.

I was provided an ARC for an honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

My initial reaction to this book when I finished it was exhaustion. It is such an emotionally intense ride for Marcus, the bad boy billionaire and the lovely ICU nurse, Imani. These characters have pasts that have defined and haunted their lives. It isn't until the car accident that puts Marcus in a coma at Imani's hospital that these two form a bond...a very strong, powerful bond, that changes their lives forever.

Marcus and Imani are unexplainably and almost disturbingly drawn together. Imani's dark and traumatic past is so upsetting and heartwrenching that it is scary for her to be so addicted to Marcus. Marcus wakes from his coma a different man than "The Beast" that he is known to be. They struggle to forge ahead on a relationship. The obstacles that they face seem too devastating to overcome and conquer. They can't seem to catch a break and Imani longs to have that forever love she reads about in her romance novels.

This story is mostly from Imani's point of view. I would have liked to have read more from Marcus than the couple of chapters that are there. Also, there are few spots in the book I would have liked addressed or addressed more quickly. Imani has a great sense of curiosity, which is pointed out throughout the book and yet, there are some situations where I thought she would be more demanding for answers. For example, without giving anything away, what happened to Nick?

This is a story about the strength of true love, forgiveness and redemption. I truly recommend this book to you. It is worth the time to read but, be warned it is not a light-hearted romance. There are some dark shadows in the corners.

Oh my goodness this book was AMAZING!!!! Ive read alot of books and i can honestly say this is in my top favorite 5! Im so glad this is one book instead of like 3 that id have to pay for each. It may seem long but there was never a dull moment. I laughed, cried and got angry. This book was seriously just amazing.
Imani is a nurse who has a very tragic past. One day she gets an ICU patient that she just feels drawn to even though hes unconscious. Shes never felt like this before. With her past she doesnt get close to people, she works, eats, sleeps and repeats thats the way its been for the past 10 years and shes content. Her patient Marcus makes her feel though and even though hes in a coma she knows he feels it too. When Marcus finally wakes up their lives begin. But Marcus wakes up to be different. He was different before the accident that put him in a coma and because of that there are things hes aftaid to tell Imani. Soon their happy existence is tested by Marcus' past. Things they never though would happen happen and things they each want to forget come up forcing them to deal. Can their love for each other save them?
I could not put this book down! Every chapter was something new and exciting. This book has everything you could want. An amazing alpha male very protective and possessive of his woman. Lots of mystery of course some heartbreak and drama but mainly just a really great story of 2 people so broken they thought theyd never be able to love or find love until they met each other. This book is so great you have to read it! Thanks so much to this wonderful author who i now know. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I volunteered to read and review this book. Often, when doing something like this, I really hope the book is a good read, otherwise it's an awful chore! I'm so happy to say this was indeed, a good read. It was riveting and a challenge to read with some of the aspects of the book. I don't believe in spoilers, but I will say, that it was interesting and tragic to read what children of mental illness have to deal with; the concentration is often on the sufferers, as it should be, but special treatment should be given to any children involved. I would have given the book (5) stars, but I felt that there was at least a hundred pages that could have been done away with, since I felt they were repeating the same thing. Great start, excellent building of suspense, but a little too long in the tooth and good ending and wrapping up loose ends. I would recommend it!

Unbroken by Emerson Rose an unbreakable five star read. This is a Bad boy billionaire romance, this is the first book by Emerson Rose I have read, and I am sure it won’t be the last. This is the story of Marcus Castillo a powerful and wealthy man, who has a very controlling personality. He’s in an ICU bed in a coma when we first meet him, and when he comes out of his coma he’s a different man, or is he? He wakes up as he feels someone calling him from the dark depths he is in, a light in a shining darkness. The light he hears is ICU nurse Imani Jefferson, she has a habit of talking to her patients, but something about this patient is special, when she first laid eyes on him she felt a connection, maybe that’s why she can’t let him go, and when his sister comments that he seems mores settled when she is in the room, Imani realises that it goes both ways.
They both have painful pasts; will they be able to help each other to overcome them? or will Marcus need for dominance be too much for Imani to bare. Will Imani be able to get over the fact that he’s a patient? Will they get their happy ever after?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it did lag a bit in the middle, but I think that was me in a book hang over rather than the book, hence why I still gave it a five-star read. It’s well written and deals with Imani struggling when she realises she is falling in love with a patient in a very real and careful manner, it also deals with some of the other issues in such a passionate manner that you can’t help but be sucked into the story.

Unbroken by Emerson Rose is a Contemporary Romantic Suspense. Imani and Marcus are two survivors who have suffered unimaginable horrors and as a result are broken and have erected walls around their hearts as a coping method.

Imani is an ICU nurse in a private hospital for the rich and famous where a comatose Marcus has been brought in after a car accident. Marcus remains in a comatose state but floats in and out of awareness and hears Imani talking to him, playing music for him and encouraging him to wake up.

Imani is at a girls night out on her night off when she gets a call from her coworker asking her to come to the hospital because Marcus had come out of his coma and was screaming for her. Imani immediately leaves her friends and heads straight to the hospital.

Marcus calms down after Imani arrives. This is the start of an intense relationship where Imani gets sucked into Marcus' world. Unfortunately life isn't all rainbows and butterflies. Marcus' ruthless and vicious side, the mob, a mystery knife wielding intruder, deadly health problems, and numerous attempts on their lives will leave you on pins and needles.

Emerson Rose is incredibly skilled at bringing forth a whole gamut of emotions, where you'll be laughing, crying and cursing at turns. Unbroken is a dark story that's full of steamy passion, non stop action accompanied by nerve wrecking suspense. I highly recommend this book and would love to read Elijah's story.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. This is the first book I have read by Emerson Rose. WOW!! First of all, this story is fairly long. 108 chapters plus an epilogue. I was a little disturbed at first with Imani's infatuation with Marcus, him being in a coma and all, however as the story progressed, I could not put the book down! This book is HOT, and after the first few chapters, it is very fast paced. Ms. Rose brings you into Marcus's world with style and I was completely immersed in the story. I will definitely read more from Emerson Rose. 5 Stars from me.

Unbroken is a beautiful love story of forgiveness and redemption. The authors writing style is exceptionally professional with very few or no grammatical errors. The story line is suspenseful, at times gut wrenching and (for the most part) flows effortlessly. I found the story to be extremely engaging with both the heroine and hero portrayed as very likeable characters. Unbroken evokes a multitude of emotions from heartbreak to unadulterated joy. It is not often that a story touches me so deeply that a quote persists after completion but the phrase, “You go; I go” will remain with me for quite some time. This was my first read by Emerson Rose and certainly will not be my last.

Unbroken was a very lengthy novel (three parts) and perhaps by removing many of the (unnecessary) internal monologues as well as repeated narratives the story length could have been greatly reduced without detracting from the story line.

Overall, Unbroken is a beautiful love story and I highly recommend it!

They both have such a sad and dark past that it will break your heart. This is filled with angst, pain, distrust, passion, heartbreak, betrayal, caring, and most of all , Love. It is a long book but it is so worth the read, you will continue to read because you will want to know Why Marcus did what he did or why Imani is the way she is. You will want to know how they FINALLY come together and find their HEA. This is the first book by Emerson Rose I have read and reviewed and I look forward to many more to come. She has a way of writing that pulls you into the book and she doesnt let go.

Oh I went through a rollercoaster with this one. Marcus and Imani experienced some really bad times together and I felt I like I was with them through it all. Marcus is a successful businessman who Imani finds assigned to her as a comatose patient in the ICU after he is involved in a horrific car accident. She doesn't know who or what he is, but knows he only has one visitor- his sister who is there with him during his coma-related hospital stay.
They both feel that there is some magnetic pull to each other that can't be denied--through their very different lifestyles, through ongoing incidents that try to pull them apart- there is an undeniable bond. This story takes the reader on a journey that you can't begin to imagine- it is not always pretty, but it is real and raw and heartbreaking and heart mending and betrayal and love and lust and near death and need I go on? You should be one clicking on this book--you will not be disappointed.

5+ stars Wow, awesome contemporary suspense romance. This book took longer than normal for me to read but it's because it is unusually long. Let me assure you that it is unbelievably fantastic. There is intrigue, suspense, pulling on heart strings, breath holding, twists and turns that keep the reader glued. I definitely feel the reader gets a lot more than the title or description can give. Marcus fell for Imani while in a coma in ICU. She was his nurse and the moment she looked at him she felt a connection and draw. Imani suffered through a horrific and traumatic event earlier in life. Marcus has two sides to his personality. Imani loves & adores the kind and loving man he is most of the time. Suddenly he becomes a brutal, devious and uncaring man who could kill her. As the reader gets comfortable with the characters their world shifts over and over so that the reader doesn't know until the very end (over 100 chapters) if the couple, their family or friends make it out alive. Ms. Rose writes complicated and multifaceted characters so that each chapter gives you something to enjoy and look forward to. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book (but because it was so good, I bought a copy as well)

Unbroken is a love story that you will not likely forget. This story involves two people who could not be more different with the exception of their ability to love and fight for that love. Imani is a successful ICU nurse married to her job. Although she is well aware of her imbalances with her social/romantic life, she is OK with being committed to her job. Imani is a woman warrior who survived an attack and kidnapping when she was 19 years old which has impacted her ability to romantically connect with others on a deep and vulnerable level. Imani meets a comatose Marcus in her ICU after he was in a horrific car accident where his vehicle went over a bridge and his passenger was DOA. Marcus is an owner of several international elegant members only restaurants/nightclubs and also has deeper connections (cannot give away spoilers:). Marcus exudes success, power, and dominance and is a true alpha which oddly works for Imani. Marcus initially connects with Imani's voice while he is in a coma but soon after connects with her soul.

Marcus hires Imani for his personal nurse at his home hospital and demands to be discharged from the ICU. This is how their love story begins...

Simply said, this is a story of a smart-mouthed nurse who meets an enigmatic patient and their ridiculous chemistry is off the charts. Although the story seems far-fetched for those of us who have ethics regarding patient boundaries, it's somehow works and works well (after all we are escaping into the works of literary fiction not real life).

The suspense, drama, love, and angst of the story draws you in and holds you there like a spiderweb in a very good way! There aren't enough words to convey the depth of their connection, rawness of their love, and the strength of their loyalty to each other. This story is a roller coaster ride that you most definitely want to experience, as it has all the feels and a good level of suspense that keeps you guessing.

Wow where to start. The two main characters Imani and Marcus have a bond that is dreamed of. Fate brings them into each others lives, i love that their horrific pasts wernt dragged into details but showed bits of it enough to get a sense of why they are the way they are. The romance, the hot sex, the drama, the complete sadness (yes i had tears at moments) the suspense of the ending was leaving me anxious to finish because I didnt see the ending coming. And that doesnt happen too often. I had to know what would happen to them. Emerson Rose you have produced a gripping, thrilling, loving and emotional book that i struggled to put down. I had to keep reading. Exceptionally well written.

I voluntarily read this story and this is my honest review. I was not sure what to expect when I recieved this book-it was MUCH longer then I initially thought, but after starting it, I honestly couldnt put it down!

Imani is an ICU nurse with demons in her past, that rear their ugly faces every night she tries to sleep. She is assigned to a new patient, comatose Marcus, who she is instantly drawn to. Not only is he the first man since her demons to make her feel aroused, but she is drawn to him in a purely magnetic way.

Surprisingly Marcus, when he wakes, is similarly and almost obsessively, drawn to Imani. She follows him home to do private care and their relationship jumps quick but naturally. Marcus has his own demons though, and soon enough they are battling them on a very real and current time table.

This was a gripping book that has a roller-coaster of emotions - confusion, happiness, lust, fear, sadness...the story brings you to the peak and then leaves your stomach at the top as you jet around the curves. A must read!

Marcus and Imani have suffered immense pain both individually and together creating very damaged people. Their love is epic. This was a soul-searching story for them both. Emerson Rose has written a story that will shock you, will make you laugh and make you cry, and will enthrall you. Have you ever slowed down reading a story because you did not want it to end and because you were enjoying it so much. With this story I did just that. Her characters will bring out all the emotions in you and show you their own raw feelings. This is an exceptionally well-written book, that even though it is long, you will not want this story to end. I highly recommend this story and this author to you.

I received an ARC in exchange for a voluntary review of this novel. It was LONG...And I was wishing that there were more pages when the book ended! The bond between Marcus and Imani was so strong that it pulled him from the brink of death! Her love (and brain surgery) changed him from a sadistic monster to Prince Charming! I loved this novel! Thanks for an excellent read!

Imani is an ICU nurse, and when Marcus is brought in comatose after a serious car accident, she feels drawn to him immediately, and struggles to understand why everyone else seems to fear him. She talks to him all the time and plays him music, and when he eventually comes out of his coma, she is the only one he wants. When Marcus talks Imani into becoming his nurse at home, their relationship develops further from there.
Both of these characters have horrific pasts, and together they grow stronger and into better people. This is a truly beautiful and emotional read, and even though I knew that this was a long book at over 100 chapters, I can say on all honesty, I was disappointed when it ended! I was intrigued and captivated from the very beginning. This story is packed with twists & turns, angst, betrayal, heartbreak, pain, trust, caring, passion, and love.
Emerson has outdone herself with this book, and I highly recommend her work for all.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book!

This book was absolutely to long. The story could have been told in probably half the number of pages. My kindle paper white calculated it at over 900 pages. First let me say it started out a good story but it just took the author too long to tell it. Imani made me crazy, she got on my nerves with her constant internal nonsense about everything. I found that the more I read the more I disliked her. She was likeable in the beginning but not so much as the story went on. I liked Marcus more than Imani, he was determined and knew exactly how he felt and went after it. Imani was described as strong but she was weak and silly and maddening. I finished this book only because I was determined to do so. I read 104 chapters that took place over the span of a few months and the epilogue was maybe a couple pages but was the most interesting. I hated the way the author rushed the ending and every chapter had so much happening. They didn't have peace until the epilogue and as the reader, I felt cheated. She could have given us more happy ever after a few chapters before the ending epilogue. Disappointing and such a waste of my reading time. 99 cents was too much to pay for this book. I have to say that if you are interested in a long, drawn out book with crisis after crisis after crisis that goes on chapter after chapter, ending in a rushed few pages in the end, this book is for you. I personally wouldn't waste my time, I certainly wish I hadn't.

Unbroken is different from a typical Emerson Rose book. It veers off the course of her usual romance novels, it has a darker undertone. But, don't let that stray you away because the story is still the usual Emerson Rose brilliance. The magnitude of strength, devotion, sacrifice, and love between Marcus and Imani is indescribable. These two people defy all odds. The true complexity of this novel makes you appreciate Rose an author even more than you already do. Rose gave us everything in this story, raw, uncut and rippling with intense passion. Intriguingly sensual, enigmatic, tumultuous, heartbreaking, heart pounding, heart warming, and awe inspiring, Marcus and Imani's story is one that is unlike any other Rose book you ever encountered. I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

Like Texasgirl comments above. I would have enjoyed the story more without the constant sex scenes. Good storyline but it got lost somewhere in the middle. I kept wondering when is this going to end? I am conflicted about H&H.. I appreciated Marcus' struggle but had trouble getting pass what a total psycho he was. I was so sorry for Imani and her history and don't know how she managed with the relationship being more about sex and control. I kept skipping pages just to remain with the story and not set it aside, trying to see how the characters resolved their issues. At the end I kept thinking and her parents did not realize what a past Marcus had? My favorite people in the story- loved Elijah and Nick, believe it or not. Elijah, because of how he held the two lovers together-Marcus and Imani. He made them work, he cemented the relationship by being there and creating a safe haven for both people. Really cool friend to have in your corner. I loved Nick only because of his introduction when he went to get Imani when she was afraid. Of course I don't know what happened to him; must have been included in the pages I skipped. Weak parts of the plot... the crazed woman with the "smoke around you" mantra who later becomes the crazed sister locked away in a different country's asylum but still manages to keep track of her family and plan her revenge..uhmmm. Mr. Black, but I guess every story needs a Mr. Black. Maria getting cancer and THEN being blown up. Best parts of the plot.. the connection between Marcus an Imani.
Would I recommend this book? Not really. It was too long and I felt captive towards the end. It took me the better part of 8hrs...could have ended at 4.
