I love anything that encourages a child to read. My granddaughter has read some books in the series and really liked them. Sold! This "Jack and Annie" series will foster reading in your young readers, both male and females.

This book series is very simply written and with some grammatical errors "till" instead on until, beginning sentences with "And". However, it has been fun to read 5 of these books with my 6-7 year old son over the past month. It takes about an hour to read the whole story. He looks forward to the next story, as the story in the books are interweaved and sequentially dependent. He even wanted to peek at the end of the book to see what happened before we started reading! It is that kind of enthusiasm that encourages more reading. A few of the stories were borderline scary because the kids are held captive by a pirate, and in danger of being hurt by a sabertooth tiger etc, but these can be put into perspective if the child is ready to deal with it.

My son, who is almost 8, loves reading these books. They are in the perfect difficulty for a 3rd grader, with just a few words that they need help working out. We take turns reading these at night before bed. Even my 5 year old loves to listen to the stories and tries to figure out where Jack and Anne will go next.

We purchased this set as a Christmas Present for my boys. I know that they enjoy the story and I have to say that I like them too, so what better gift. They opened their presents and showed actual interest.

This series has created such a love of reading for my 7 year old son. The adventures have captivated him to the extent that he now reads an entire book in one sitting (usually a little less than 2 hours). Awesome, awesome writing with relatable characters. He laughs at Annie's zest and wit as he echos Jack's response of "Oh brother". LOL. He started with Book 1 and has just finished book 9. He wants to read the entire series. Yeah for love of reading at a young age.

My kindergarten kid loves these books. She really enjoys reading these together and will pass up a movie for them. The chapters are short so you can fit one or three in before bed without taking to long.

My daughter loves these books. She is a first grader. She understands that these books are fantasy. I think these books have helped her to consider life outside the United States and be thoughtful towards people in other countries. She wants the entire set of books and we plan to buy them all. These books are encouraging her to read and get more information about different countries and cultures in our local library.

Bought these books for my grandsons. They loved them. I had to read all 4 one after the other so they could
find out what happened next. The six year old loved the mystery and I really thought the four year old would get
bored but he hung on every word. They could not wait to read the next set. Very good books.

I've been struggling to find books that interest my 11 year old-delayed reader. He actually really enjoys History, so finding these books that call to his interest in history, encouraged him to zip through them, and "forced" me to buy the next 4 in the series! Thank you Magic Tree House!!
