I adored this story. Hank and Midge have a great story to tell and one that will have you swooning, crying, laughing, shaking your head and having all of the feels. It's great that you can continue with the characters from After Care in this story. So much of their lives are built on from their past, but the struggle is learning from, not quite forgetting about it, and moving on from it. Hank especially has to let it go and evolve into his new reality. he's learned a lot of life lessons, but can he learn to let his heart become Midge's and be someone's someone?

When I heard that L.B. Dunbar was writing another over 40 book, I couldn’t get my hands on it quick enough!! Absolutely love this story-line with having couples who are over the age of 40. Real life happenings that for us over 40’s have experienced.

Midge is raising 3 boys after recently being divorced. Concentrating on her job, making sure the kids are at the 42,000 after-school obligations and needing a girl’s night out.

But since moving to California with her ex, she really hasn’t had time to make friends, ones she could feel comfortable with going out. Unable to say No, like most of us, she finds herself volunteering for a program at her son’s school. Where she meets Ivy and Edie.
Heading to a Meet the Wife party at Edie’s, it’s her first attempt to mix and mingle with her new friends.

Hank Paige is a man with many demons in his closet. A man who carries so much around in his heart for a woman who he thought he loved. Never moving past her, he has remained single.

When he is invited to a band members house to meet the new wife, he never thought he could want more…but seeking the bathroom to escape, his life changed that night.

What a fantastic story!!! Love meeting the men of Chrome Teardrops! I want a bracelet of Hank’s to wear too <3

Now here's an author who writes mature couples' romances. I mean your heart still beats at 40, right? As long as it beats, it feels. Love, passion, lust, attraction. And why not act on it, cause love ain't got no expiration date. So when Hank Paige meets Midge Everette at a fundraising thing at Edie and Tommy Carrigan's place, there's that electric buzz which zaps both of them. Hank is a charmer, soon he has Middy cornered in the restroom and the kiss that he plonks on her lips just seals their fate together. Now the best part about mature people falling in love is that they don't waste time on unnecessary wooing. They get down to business real quick and are generally forthright about their feelings and try to work it out. They recognise loneliness and guilt cause they're kindred spirits.
"a kindred knowledge of what the end of a rope feels like, I have a good idea of how she’s feeling. Despair. Desperation. Downtrodden."
It's more of companionship, a sounding partner who understands them, and gets their regrets and mistakes. After all they've Been There; Done That! So both looking for a warm soft place to land on.
"I want to be somebody’s someone."
So they stumble through their personal lives, trying to decide that if this risk at this age is worth it or not.. But try as they may they can't keep their hands off of each other.
"My signals are so mixed with this man, and I feel like I’m the one on the verge of sexually molesting him. I need to rein it in, but I haven’t had this kind of attention in so long, I just want to swing for a home run when I might need to bunt instead."
Hank is still stuck in his past and has trouble accepting the fact that he is lovable and wanted still. His abandonment issues play havoc with his mind
"I see the way she looks at you. You could poop yourself, and she’d think you hung the moon, but you’re still hanging onto a ghost. A phantom who was invisible to you even when she was alive.”
LB writes with so much maturity and wisdom, she truely captures the essence of love which may not be smooth sailing at this age but hand in hand they can work it out. I loved the writing and the plot and fell in love with Hank and Middy.

Another great book by this author, 2nd in the series. I loved how the connection of how Midge, divorced 40 year old mom of 3 boys, meets the hunky Hank thru the Edie & the music therapy school that Ivy owns. All these characters & more (minus Hank) appeared in the 1st book, After Care. It was nice to see them & get more of their story here.

Midge (gotta say the names the author gives her h's are so mid century, old lady-ish) runs into Hank in a VERY unusual place in Tommy & Edies house & runs as fast as she can after. Hank is the former drummer from Tommy's band & they haven't seen each other for many years. Their friendship was lost due to the failed, long term, off & on relationship Hank had with Tommy's dead sister Kit. Can you say awkward? Hank has a pretty jaded sex, drugs &rock & roll past but is sober now after he loses everything in the process. No more music for him, hes working as a mechanic now in his family business with his brother.

There are so many secrets & mysteries in this one, many things revealed in layers. Lots of past hurt & self doubt for Hank, having loved someone for a really long time who didn't seem to love them back. All he wants is have a family, to be loved but is it too late for him? I really loved the character of Hank, hes warm, caring but scared to be hurt again. Some of the things he says to Midge are so sweet but he sure has a sexy, dirty side! His man to man conversations with her boys are a riot, but also real. I had tears by the time the ending rolled around, so good, so satisfying. Midge was a strong h to Hanks slightly damaged soul. I liked that she wasn't a doormat & stood up for herself. I was hoping for a next book in this series, didn't check the release date in this one. Maybe another one will come to let us see where things end up for this group of friends & family.

-Romance for the over 40....

Gaaahhhh! I love you L.B.! There I said it! If you ever need another friend, I am so there!

Midlife Crisis is another book in the Silver Fox Former Rock Stars.  I read the first book After Care, but I can tell you, this can totally be read as a stand alone.  After saying that, I was so glad to see past characters make an appearance in this book and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will get more stories about them!

Midlife Crisis is the story of Midge and Hank.  And what a fabulous story it is!

Midge is a vintage gal, divorced with three boys and trying to find her own way and doing so beautifully.  She wasn't looking for love but boy did she find it! I loved her spirit, her maturity in knowing what she wants but also have that vulnerability that no matter how old you are, you still feel sometimes! Her love of using the exclamation of  "Sweet Cheese!" whenever the need applied had me cracking up!  I could see much of myself in this character which made me love this book even more.

Hank, wowza! I needed a cool drink and a fan after reading some of the things he says to Midge.  He has had his heart damaged in the past and his self-confidence, even though he doesn't show it, has took a major hit too.  He was a rockstar, and lived the stereotypical rockstar life of drinking, drugs and a laissez faire  attitude towards sex.  The ghost of his past still haunts him and lies and betrayals still have affect on him even years later.

The chemistry between Hank and Midge is holy hell, hotter than hawt....the mouth on Hank had me blushing and I enjoyed reading about Midge coming out of her shell.  They do have some obstacles and some angst, but it's done with a level of maturity that I respect and understand.

I am going to be putting this in the running of my best reads of 2018 list! It was that good!  Thank you so much for your words and stories L.B.! Thank you for writing about us over 40 crew and we can still find love, hold on to love and have swoony, smexy times too!  I cannot wait to read more from you!

Wow! I for one will never look at another cupcake again without thinking dirty thoughts about Hank Paige! That sure is some hot and sexy sweetness right there!
Hank may not be your typical book hero, but he can be my hero any time. Despite his baggage, he sure as heck gives it his all, heart and soul. He is sexy, loving, sweet and kind but rough around the edges and I just love him! He is a big soft teddy bear underneath that gruff exterior and a man with a past that is just eating him up inside. Midge is a divorced mother of 3 whose ex-husband, while he was not her ex, moved her and their boys to be closer to his mistress. What a tool! Midge is an amazing mother and beautiful person who puts her boys first, always. She totally deserves more for herself in her career and love, but can Hank give her the latter freely??
Anyway, when Hank & Midge meet there is some pretty serious insta-lust going on but it all works and in that moment you kind of expect they would react like that to each other.
Of course their relationship is not without many uphill battles especially with the ghost Midge is fighting for Hank's heart. He may be a recovering alcoholic but he is still recovering from his past.
This is a wonderful story with so many beautiful and heartwarming moments and no shortage of hot, steamy and sexy moments too. I was so invested in this couple, I couldn't help not be. I was also thrilled to get more of Tommy & Edie and Gage & Ivy from After Care too. It really added so much depth to the story, like real life was going on around them at all times, plus I adore all of their characters so much.
This book will make you feel so much and want to be "somebody's someone" for sure!
I really hope there are more of these amazing after 40 love stories coming L.B. !!

Book 2 in the over 40 (#sexysilverfoxes) series, you don't need to have read book 1 to enjoy this.

There's so much I like about this story, it's hard to know where to start. It's wonderful to read about characters over forty, and I have to say, anyone who thinks the chemistry can't be hot once you're past 40 needs to read this series. Rockstar books are some of my favorites, so former/has-been rock stars put a great twist on that storyline for me.

I really liked the parallels and contrasts between Midge and Hank. They've both been burned in previous long term relationships and both are still in the process of rebuilding their lives after some major life changes. Where Hank is childless, and is living with his brother and nephew, Midge is raising three sons following a divorce. These were complex characters with fully developed lives, and I loved watching their relationship develop. Relationships with and between the secondary characters were a lot of fun as well.

Wonderful characters with a mix of heat and humor added up to a great read for me. 5 stars

MIDLIFE CRISIS is the second book in the Silver Foxes series. While it (technically) stands on its own, there is enough interaction with Tommy and Edie to know that I’ve missed out on a terrific first book. Plus, I want to know what book is Ivy and Gage’s story!

Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! There are so many emotions wrapped up in these pages. Besides being caught giggling out loud several times, I was also moved to tears, held my breath, and … well there are some steamy scenes that are quite inspiring as well.

The characters were so real – alternately sweet, misunderstood, flawed, and amusing – that I felt that Ms. Dunbar must be opening up her personal journal for all of us to read.

This is the first book that I have read from Ms. Dunbar. It won’t be last!

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Sweet cheese I FLOVED this book. The story of Hank and Midge is a perfect balance of dealing with the issues of dating while raising teenagers, overcoming not so pleasant things about our pasts and working on improving our future.

This author is a one click author for me and I am really liking this "silver fox" genre she has been writing about. It's nice to be able to relate to her characters.

I absolutely recommend this book!!!

Hank and Midge what a perfect couple. I loved their story and their characters. I loved the characters from After Care visiting this book. Lots of serious subjects are dealt with in this book, divorce, single mom, alcohol and drug addiction, and dreams. I enjoyed how the author dealt with these issues. Humor, feelings, emotions made this a feel-good book.

Loved! This was a very excellent book. LB Dunbar always writes men who you can totally swoon over. And Hank Paige is one of those men. Midge is a mom of three boys and has a very hectic life. One chance meeting in a bathroom and a anonymous phone call will change both their lives. This book gives you so many feels. Highly recommended.
