I remember reading this book to my little sister when I was a kid, we loved the book and read it until the pages were ready to fall out! I bought this copy for my sister's girls and they too enjoy the book. Such a cute, fun story.

One of my favorite stories to read to kiddos. The book is set up to have the reader converse with the mouse and it does nothing but result in giggles and interaction from the children audience. Highly recommend for preschool age children.

We got our first copy of this wonderful book when our boys were very young, and ended up reading it to them over and over. They are teenagers now, and when we were looking to buy some books for our new nephew our boys immediately picked "The Big Hungry Bear." If you are looking for a great children's book and see this review--trust me, this book is a winner!

We purchased this book for our grandson and despite the fact he is only 10 months old, he loves having us read it to him. The artwork is excellent, with facial expressions that little folks can understand and enjoy, and a story that offers a lesson in sharing as well! Recommended!

It's got good illustrations and a story about sharing, even if you are tricking the mouse with fear to share with you. My son gets a kick out if it, especially the one where the mouse is shaking the strawberry.

This is a great book. I actually have the original version from when I was a kid for my daughter. We decided to buy one for a friend's shower and so I decided to get the board book version for her. Big mistake. I wish I had read the reviews. Colors are faded compared to the original hard back version and the pictures are cropped. The pictures are the best part of the book. The last page is on the back cover too. Just ridiculous. Spend the extra money and go for the hard cover. Soft cover might be okay too.

Our two daughters ages 3 and 10 months. Love this story about the little mouse and how he tries to save he red ripe strawberry. We tell them the the big berry bear is their papa an he is coming for it. Then we pretend that they have to hide it by working together -- they have to share it to hide it in their tummies :-).

I really think people are a bit too sensitive. This book uses imagination. I guarantee kids aren't thinking about being sneaky when reading this book. If you are worried about, then it is great conversation starter. The pictures are beautifully done and there are so many directions you can go in with this book! This book reminds me of childhood!

They have this book at my daughter's preschool and the director of the school loves to read it to her pre-K class. The director is amazing, changing her voice as she reads. My daughter started saying some quotes from the book to her younger brother. So cute! I bought the book to have at home and got the board book hoping it would be sturdier with two little ones. I was disappointed to discover that the board book is abridged and the quotes my daughter says are not in there. I will keep it for my younger son but will be buying the regular book to keep for my daughter's library.

We had never heard of this book but stumbled across it while looking for some new books for our boys (2 and 4). The illustrations are so expressive and the simple story provides opportunities for kids to interact during story time.
