Oh my word Darynda has done it again. She captures your attention right away. To see from Reyes eyes even a portion of the story is enough to make you melt. I love her style and she never disappoints. Thank you and can not wait for nine and ten and so on!

Every book of this author seems to get better and better. It was enjoyable to read the history of times that you already know about but from a different point of view. Really enjoyed this entire book.

Every Charley Davidson novel shines with compassion, suspense, love and laugh-out-loud dialogue. All the novels are from Charley's point of reference. Adding to the Charley Davidson series is this novella from her great love, Reyes', point of view. All that was hinted at in Charley's novels about Reyes' life growing up is brought forward here. The stark and gruesome reality of his beatings and more at the hands of Earl comes in clear focus through Reyes' thoughts. To fully appreciate Reyes', I recommend reading the Charley Davidson novels. They are a world unto themselves, as is Charley, and soooo entertaining.
Ms. Jones has a knack of telling Reyes' story without horrifying details while managing to impact me at a visceral level. Amazingly done. There is no laughter here -- only Reyes dealing with his childhood and teen years while protecting his "adopted" sister. Ms. Jones has an awesome and magical talent of bringing forth strong emotions without overwrought words or actions. Spend two hours and sit back, put your feet up, and get to know Reyes and Charley through Reyes' eyes.

Omg! So good! This is written very different from the other books, so it really plays into Reyes's personality. Instead of the sarcastic, fun loving view of Charlie, we really get to know Reyes's on a new level. There even was parts when I wanted to cry! Very different, but Just As Good!
