The cover caught my eye. I downloaded it thinking it was a paranormal; however it turned out to a very interesting love story with a twist of paranormal. Ivy Morgan a single girl that many of the villagers believe she is witch because her lifestyle is different. She dresses odd, lives in the woods, has a fairy ring and makes herbal lotions. Jack Hacker is a homicide detective from Detroit who accepted a job in a small to forget his last case. He is ready for the peace and quiet of keeping a small town safe.
They meet when Ivy find a body with satanic symbols carved on it. Sparks fly between them as they explore the crime. I will read more of this series.

Ivy Morgan is a interesting character. She has sworn off men and then she finds a dead body on her property. New to the police department Jack has no idea that Ivy is a witch even though everyone is telling him she is but he just thinks their pulling his leg.

When the two of them meet the sparks fly. Not only that they tend to argue which makes it even more obvious to those around them that they are fighting the attraction.

In the end the get their man with some high jinx along the way.

I really enjoyed the first book in the Ivy Morgan series. It was a decent mystery and a great romantic interest. My only complaint is this is billed as a witch book, but no actual magic was done. There is a little aura reading, but the main character is a self confessed witch but never really backs up what she's saying. I'm hoping the author gets more into that in the next installment.

DNF. Unfortunately, I just couldn't wade through the hormonal disturbance that was this book.

If all the cheesy, melodramatic and overwrought romance was taken out of this book, it would've been a great mystery. It's one thing to introduce a little romantic spark, or a bit of sexual tension. It adds a little spice to a book. I get that. It's another thing to beat a reader over the head with pent-up in-your-face hot mess. If this book was a dance move, it would be a pelvic thrust. In your eye. Going on and on and on.

It would've been only 12 pages long, but it would've been a good mystery. So 1 star for plot, -4 stars for everything else.

There was an alarming amount of unneeded ellipses used in this book, a rather tremendous pet peeve of mine. I've been giving the audiobook a go in hopes that if I couldn't see them it wouldn't be so irksome. Alas, this was not the case. The actress proceeded to talk robotically to emphasize the ellipses I had tried so desperately to escape. What was worse, she pronounced most of the Michigan place names totally wrong, though I can't blame the book for that.

The characters are as flat as the sheet of paper they were written on. Their minds are apparently so hormone addled that they couldn't even pay attention to the body that was found because they were too busy looking at each other. It's hard to believe she feels guilty about being unable to help when she was so entirely blasé about it initially. The dialogue is totally unbelievable throughout.

Awful - just horrible. Lets start with I didn't even finish this, I literally couldn't force myself to read more than a few chapters and even that was nearly painful. The series is called "Ivy Morgan" however the first couple of chapters are rom the perspective of a local police detective & his new partner who just moved to town. The point of view switches from person to person with no rhyme or reason to it. Also this author loves to utilize pauses in the characters speech via the ... method. Over utilizes is more accurate to the point where it's almost as if everyone in the book has a stutter. Seriously, if I had to talk to 1 of these people in real life I'd be like "get to the point already". Thankfully I didn't have to pay for this drivel.

What happens when a cop running from his past meets a local whose a witch, in the small town he ran to?? Sparks fly, that's what happens!! Jack left Detroit after he was shot and betrayed. Ivy grew up in the small town where Jack took a detective position to find a quieter life. Neither one of them is looking for a romantic relationship. But those sparks just won't stop flying every time they touch. When Ivy's life is in danger Jack runs to rescue her. This the 1st book in the An Ivy Morgan Mystery series and is an excellent start to what promises to be an exciting paranormal, romantic mystery series. The writing, as in any book by Ms Hart writes is outstanding, the characters are still new to us but they are well developed and sympathetic and the storyline is a good mix of romance, witchery and mystery. It will appeal to romantics and mystery fans both. There is enough twists and turns to keep you guessing right up to the end. Highly recommended.

A bottle of Rose` after a day of #45. Entertaining. The dialogue is very high school/ Instagram. A young adult 'cozy '. The author needs to research the dialogue, behavior of real policemen and detectives. It almost seems like the book was an audible dictation not a written project. Her other books are similar. If you want to escape reality with the libation of your choice-- She is your author! Mindless fun?☺??????

Awesome. She beautiful, marches to her own tune and all the women in town hate her whilst all the men want to own her. He is handsome, a copy and has been badly hurt in the past (both emotionally and physically). They meet when she finds a young woman dead on her property. Sparks fly even though both deny it vehemently. Add in a cult (run by a former boyfriend), threats and drugs. Can the two find the killer especially as she is now firmly in the killer's sight. Great plot, although the culprit become obvious about 1/2 through the book. The characters are full and lend humour and emotion to the plot.

I’m hesitant to read stories about witches, but this one sucked me right in. Ivy Morgan is adorable, as is Jack. :-) I love the flirting and the sexual tension - and the murder mystery was good, too! Ms. Hart writes very well and has an excellent vocabulary. I’m an English teacher and there was a turn of phrase here and there that just made me smile - her command of English makes my heart happy. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series!

It got four stars because it was an entertaining read. Not perfect. Nothing is perfect, but...
Since the series is called Ivy Morgan Mystery, apparently, I assumed she would play a bigger role in solving the crime. Like perhaps, like other books in this genre, she was a crackpot investigator who also just happened to be a witch. If anything, in this book, she played only a small part in solving the crime. It was really Jack Barker who solved it.
Anyway, it was a good book to pass the time with.

The characters were extremely childish. It felt like they were either teenager or children. the mystery was good but it was hard to get into the story with them fighting all the time. I wanted to like the book really bad but i just couldn't. But don't take my word for it though try story out and see if you like it for your self. this is just how i felt about it.

I've long distrusted authors with three names, but this author may change my mind. The plot is an unadorned love story that overwhelms even the mystery of the murder. But the detecting is not a loss, either. I'll read another of Harts novels, just to see where Ivy and her interesting family will take me.

I was extremely irritated by the way the cop kept using the word Honey a million times throughout the book. They fell in love instantly. I also read the second book to give it a try, but the way that the one very paranormal thing in that was handled was just a joke. This could have been good if it wasn't written for school children. There were only 2 suspects. It was the most obvious so-called mystery I have ever read. And what is with the ... Everywhere? That is bad writing. I did not realize that the same author that wrote this book wrote the ghost book, as it seems like they were written by 2 separate people.
