Another great read by Molles, Spoiler alert.
This one starts with Abe and Lucas escaping their captors at Ft. Bragg. Abe was wounded and he and Lucas are being hunted. Lucas tells Abe to run and he will slow them up. Its a death sentence for Lucas but Abe knows that having Lee's GPS he's got to go.
Lee, Carl and three Delta operators land back at Bragg and finds out Abe and Lucas escaped. Lee heads out in pursuit. He shoots Lucas and finds Abe, a badly wounded Abe. Lee finds his GPS and still can't figure out if Abe is still a friend or not. Abe is headed for the hospital and Lucas is dead.
Harper Julia and Harpers men along with Sgt. Kensey and the marines are headed back to Ryder. Kensey stops at a grain silo to tend to Julia. He and his men then kill all of Harpers men and take Harper and Julia prisoner. Harper can't believe what he's seeing and can't figure out why anyone would want he and Julia as prisoners. This is something he will fine out about when Tyler Bowden, the lead on the Hometown Project, shows up.
LaRouche is still doing the bidding of the pastor. He and his men have killed many and will kill more.
Lee and Amanda have a long talk. Amanda wants more from Lee and Lee just can't give it. He's to busy trying to save those at Camp Ryder a personal life is out of the question. Lee has killed many and even though his friend Tomlin has offered to help take some of the burden off Lee, Lee feels its his burden and he must carry it.
Lee has no idea what a s**t storm he's about to walk into.
So begins another great read by Molles.
This one has Lee, Tomlin, Amanda, Deuce, Sam, Abby, those at Camp Ryder, Col Stearns, alliances, Ft. Bragg, Lee's GPS, the bunker and what it holds, Carl, his Delta operators, the pastor and his minions, the marines, artillery, a hospital in Johnson City, a plan by Lee to save as many as he can, Tyler Bowden, Kensey and his marines, death, destruction, betrayal, murder, an Abe who's done what he set out to do, an Abe who Lee calls friend, Harper, Julia, a fight at the grain silo's, the pastors men attacking the marines and their artillery, LaRouche finally getting it back together and doing the right thing, those at Camp Ryder heading for Bragg, Col. Stearns daughter and Lee Hardin finally seeing light at the end of a very long tunnel.
Five Stars and then some.

I would recommend this series. In order to get the full picture of what's going on, readers need to start from the beginning.
With each book questions are answered and of course more plots are revealed. I originally thought too many scenarios going on at once would be confusing to me (memory problems). But the author gives enough information during the transitions that I was able to keep up easily. I could also click on the name of a character and be reminded of who they are and how they relate to the story.
What I like most about this series is that the author does not feel the need for the main character to have a love interest. Yes they have something going on with one of the women he saved but he did kill her zombie husband in front of her and her daughter and that would have been weird. But it's not just her, he doesn't fall for anyone just the mission and saving as many people as he can.
I even like the novellas that told us more about some of the characters and would read more if he would write them. Let's go DJ Molles, write something else!!!
Overall excellent series, great action, and I could almost feel something for the bad guys when I read their stories/background.
In an attack on the US, natural disaster, or other emergency, no matter what form, people do the right thing and help each other survive.

I thought the first novels in this series were excellent and the last few were not that good. There have been a few obvious plot holes with some of the twists introduced in the last couple books. This book was better and more in line with the first few novels. The pacing could have been better-- went from plodding to rushed.

A great ending to an amazing series! The whole series is affordable and worth buying for those folks who are into "The Walking Dead" or "28 Days Later" type of shows/flicks. I only hope that D.J. Molles gets bored with whatever else he is doing and gives us one more novel in the series...PLEASE!!!!

It was okay. I guess I expected more after reading the first two that I thought was great and the one before this that I was disappointed in. I was looking for more of and ending and a little more uplifting finale. Kinda weak.

The final book of the series was an excellent ending to a group of great books. TR: Extinction had action, intrigue, loss, betrayal, and an excellent story that wrapped everything up to a point that was satisfying. I truly enjoyed this entire series and don't doubt that I will read it again in the future.

I really enjoyed this series very much. My first experience with zombie books and got me into many others. I will miss all the characters. D.J. Molles is a very good writer. His character development was unpredictable but you always knew what that character was feeling.

A great read and good conclusion to this fantastic story! Even though Capt Harden and Co will cotinue
to face dangerous foes and obstacles, you get a feeling of hope as this draws to an end. Exciting read
that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time...again, a real page turner and a must read if you
have kept up on the Remaining series!

I absolutely love this series and it was a pleasure to follow it to completion. I felt genuinely connected to lee throughout the series and I found the plot very engaging. This is a worthwhile read to anyone who is looking for a new series to read

Great series... Can't believe that this is it.. No more... I need to read somethings else... Capt Harden has a good pint of view... Things that have to be done and nobody is willing to get their hands dirty...

So glad I found this series! The writing makes characters, places and situations come alive. Love reading the names and descriptions of the various weapons and equipment and descriptions of all the towns, roads they used. I really enjoyed the final installment though at first I was disappointed. I wanted a typical movie ending. You know, all the bad guys are defeated and get their comeuppance, the hero resolves all his inner turmoil and walks off into the sunset smiling with the heroine, cute kids, a dog and a rag tag team of loyal friends that miraculously make it through. And some of that sort of came to pass yet what makes this story so good, so readable, so realistic is all the brutality and the fact that people come through the other side damaged and hardships cannot all be overcome easily. Molles creates characters that are always changing, growing, for better or sometimes worse, they are not static or always predictable, both the people and the infected. I particularly enjoyed LaRouche's transformation. Who they were in July is not who they are in January and I think the author makes it clear, though not explicitly, that they will not be the same in another 6 months(loved the scene with snow covering the fields, stasis then growth). Spoiler Alert! For those of us sappy people who wanted Lee and Angela together, they will be. Not this book, it may never be written down but I see lots of clues from what they say to each other, to themselves and even through what is never said between them that this little makeshift family is Lee's place in the sun, he needs to learn to overcome his own fears of being tied to something and fear of rejection. Angela is hurt, angry but never agrees, yeah this isn't gonna work, she's still trying to wrap her mind around the creature that Lee is. My opinion, maybe I'm way off, reading more into it than is there. I definitely see more books coming, can't wait to revisit Lee, but eager to see other sides of this story and the viewpoints of other characters. I'll be waiting eagerly for more!

How Lee Harden described his life in the bunker also what life was like outside the bunker as events unfolded. It seems as if Lee was going to die many times but somehow his stubbornness keeps him going.

Is this really farewell to Captain Lee Harden?? I have enjoyed the whole series and hate to say good-bye. One of the greatest thing about these books is the fast pace of the story. When I start reading I just have to keep going along with the relentless pace of the story. No conclusion to a series will please everyone, but It felt fitting to me. I would love to see another novel (or two) about how the United States might come back together after this. Would Briggs ever give up his control and rejoin the southeastern group??? Will some type of communication between the factions be developed?? Maybe D J Molles will give us more. I would look forward to it, but thanks for the great story and the character of Captain Harden!

Here's to hoping DJ Molles isn't done writing. I'd love to see how his writing evolves.
