The Seven Sisters: Book One
The Seven Sisters: Book One

Review:The majority of this book was so compelling. I wanted to read and read and read. Then, the ending chapters seemed so thrown together. I actually just skimmed through the last hoping it would revert back to the great book it was for most of the chapters. Read more

The Light We Lost
The Light We Lost

Review:A friend suggested this book because we have the same taste. So glad she did! The story grabs you from the beginning and you just have to see how it will end. The book has a different format than I am used to and at times I found it annoying. Still by the end I found I enjoyed the uniqueness. I also kept thinking about the one that got away... Read more

The Wrath & the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn)
The Wrath & the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn)

Review:A re-telling of "The One Thousand and One Nights" (aka "The Arabian Nights") - LOVE the idea. I wish the execution were a little better.

Ahdieh does a good job of making us readers connect emotionally with the two main characters, Shahrzad and Khalid, which is enough to carry a good part of the story. But the power behind the story comes from two supporting characters - Shiva and Tariq - that we just don't get enough about to make the drama as powerful as it could be.

Shahrzad is f... Read more

Review:I had to write my review right away after finishing this one. I don't want to forget a thing and yet I have a feeling that I'll write this and then go back thinking about the book more and more and wanting to add other of my rambling thoughts. This is one that I just don't want to leave anything out, yet of course still be vague and not share any spoilers, yet how can I not share all these thoughts....

I Love, Love, Love Marissa Meyer's writing. She creates these amazing worlds that draw ... Read more

Legendary: A Caraval Novel
Legendary: A Caraval Novel

Review:***MINOR SPOILERS ***

Well. That was disappointing.

I feel like I could talk for a long time about why I didn’t care for this book much. Firstly, the tone. Caraval was magical, with a hint of danger. You weren’t quite sure what aspects were real, but that was okay, it was all part of the mystique. Well you can chuck all that mystique out the window for Legendary. Instead of being magical, the tone is very dark, and not in the cool-dangerous-hot guy way, but in the gross-morbid-cree... Read more

Illuminae (The Illuminae Files)

Review:Honestly, sci-fi is not my thing. It's one of the last genres I read stuff from, but there is something about Aussie authors that makes anything and everything worthwhile. Pretty much everyone and their whole extended family had good things to say about this novel, but I probably wouldn't have bought it if it hadn't been for the outstanding format that this book is written in (+ that hardcover ok). Welllllllll when the book arrived, I was sure that this book was not meant for me, because guess w... Read more
